Looking back the Walton's world seemed smaller and more compact and yet so real to life. They took time to live life with family. They sailed their ship using a moral compass to guide them with honesty, integrity, fairness, hard work and sense of community. Am watching the series for the third time. I think some of the family remaining around my age. Maybe that's why I enjoy and can relate. Well done....Paul French

I live in Buffalo, New York where Joe Conley grew up. I happened to be at a flea market over the weekend and picked up South Park High School yearbooks 1942-1945. Inside I found a newspaper clipping the owner placed about a 40th reunion of the Class of 1945. (The article was published in 1985). It was entitled, "Reunion turns up a familiar face." The article talks about Joe Conley coming to Buffalo to attend. It was held at Fontana's Picnic Grove. I opened the 1945 yearbook to glance at the seniors, and there he was - Joseph H. Conley, Jr. For a $10 purchase, it was a great surprise. That's how I came across this tribute which was very well put together. Thank you. RIP Mr. Conley. Incidentally, his classmates had a nickname for him in High School -"Hollywood Joe." Who knew?

I remember watching The Walton’s as a kid. Loved it. Now I’m 52 and watching all 9 seasons on Amazon prime. I watch almost every night with my 12 year old daughter. We are currently on season 5. ( about 24 episodes per year. That’s alot of Waltons).
What I find kind of funny is that most episodes bring tears to my eyes at some point. Grandma and grandpa Walton make me want to sob sometimes. I’m the man of our home but I’m always crying but my daughter is not!
Best show ever. I wish they would clean up what they’re putting on tv these days. I thank God that we have these videos to watch over and over with our own family 🙂

One episode that showcased Corabeth`s redeeming side very well was the one where her car broke down and Ben fixed it, the dialogue really exposed her vulnerability, the reasons for her "annoying side" and taught me to have greater understanding and patience with people, not to judge a book by its cover.

I met him in a gym in Westlake Village , California . He was trying to get a knee stronger. Such a friendly man. I never let him know I knew who he was. Kind fellow, down to earth and just wanted to talk.

The Waltons was the best show in television history-very strong cast excellent writing and a very very important time in American history that was vastly overlooked. This show made me realize how much I missed by being an only child.Joe Conley is a television icon-his character was underrated and I cannot imagine the show without him.God Bless Joe Conley and may he forever be remembered as a great actor and a great man.

I went to Ike's store in VA. about 20 years ago. There was a blue-tick hound lying on the ground out front. I fed him some cookies and sat with him for a while. It was in a little town off RT. 29 called Schuyler, VA. What a good time we had watching the Walton's back in the day. Thank you Joe for playing "Ike" so well. You are now made immortal in the minds of your fans.

My all time favorite show. Although I loved all of the characters on this show, Ike Godsey was one of my favorites. What a special man; and a special man that played him. I loved how loyal he was to his friendships; how much everyone meant to him; and I loved his relationship with Cora Beth. Thank you, Mr Conley for the gift you've given me that will last a lifetime.

I always thought that I was watching a true family on television once a week when it came on. Never looked at them as cast members, only true family members. If Hollywood wants to, they can bring back the cast, the cast that were kids back then now as adults today. "The Waltons Siblings".

  • @pacificprospector

This is great hearing this interview. Ike was one of my favourite characters from the series. Corabeth you love to hate, but I admired her because she usually was the one character who had the most "growth". She was pretentious but she also became "real" at some point. Despite the disjointed episode to episode story-lines, the series was great to watch.

It's so simple and beautiful. It's about FAMILY when there
are no shows left about family. I also am a writer so I related

He reminds me of Mr Isley...of Isleys Grocery..long closed ..but was the only store my mother shopped at...She'd pay her Bill when my Daddy's social security check would come in...evwry month...knew all six of us kids by name...and went to the same church...Mr Isley was the most in a man you could ask for...our penny candy was always free...he'd never charge us...and taught us kids to share with others and always pray for happiness...that it will happen...never Hope...but pray.
may you rest high on that mountain Mr. Ike....and Mr. Isley

Always was and is still is the best show on television.
Looked forward to it every week.
It still brings tears to my eyes. So many memories of my own family I associate through this period and show. I wish someone in Hollywood understood the value and interest people have in this type of programming.
All their interested in today is either scaring you to death or completely grossing you out with one death scene after another.
