Thanks for the memories. The Heroes 2 soundtrack is one of the best video game soundtracks of all time. The HoMM soundtracks made the games into what they are.
HOMM series (2-3-4) is why I have become a game composer myself and this theme might be the best of all... This is my childhood here that's still alive hopefully somewhere in my music. Bless you Paul Romero!

Why would you want to uninstall Heroes 4? It was supposed to be the greatest Heroes made but 3DO ran out of money and went under. 3DO forced New World Computing to push out an unfinished project in hopes of floating revenu and keeping the company from going under. For an unfinished project it's damn amazing. I keep hoping some community mod will go in and complete it to make it what it was once supposed to be.
Back when Elder Scrolls Oblivion was still new, I made a custom mod replacing the music with Heroes IV. If the music can compete with Jeremy Soule and Elder Scrolls, it can compete with anything! Just riding along on the horse, listening to 7:51 in my dorm room. So many years ago now. The very best.
Wow, that's amazing! It must have been a great experience. I tried the same "trick" with HoMM 5 music while playing Elden Ring. And while I felt that the music was far superior than Elden's, it somehow didn't fit :(
This game's soundtrack is a hidden jewel. Always loved it. And I can hear some parts of it everywhere. Fairy Tail, Witcher 3, even some TV show in Brazil. Awesome.

Highly arguable. HoMM 3 was a GREAT game and probably the best game in it's years but HoMM 4 was also a great game! Best soundtrack in the series, even gameplay was refreshingly great! Whenever I met someone that thought HoMM 4 sucks, I wanted to punch his eyes out. It has it's charms without a doubt. Spent as much hours playing it as I did on HoMM 3.
Unpopular Opinion... but i realy could not warm up with HoMM3 I tried it back then on steam a long time but simply... i dont know it was not my gusto. Maybe i simply have played way to much of 2 and 4, the games i still love to this day

Heroes of Might and Magic, tak jak Age of Empires czy Diablo, to dla mnie gry dzieciństwa. Wychowałem się na tym, a ta muzyka budzi we mnie nostalgię i tęsknotę za tamtymi czasami. Jest po prostu piękna, od razu przywodzi na myśl kampanie, które były chyba drugim najlepszym elementem czwartej części - historie Emilii Nighthaven, Gauldotha Pół-martwego czy Lorda Lysandera na zawsze pozostaną mi w pamięci. Nie mam co ukrywac, czwóreczka to moja ulubiona część Heroes'ów i gram w nią do dziś, to po prostu cudo.
Takie same komentarze będą padały za kilka lat z ust tych gimbusów. Świat się zmienia w którym świat gier zmienia się naprawdę szybko a co za tym idzie trendy. Kiedyś też były chujowe gry, dzisiaj są i będą chujowe gry co nie zmienia faktu że muzyczka a nawet sam heroes IV bardzo mi się podobał :P

I agree with the heroes balance part as well as the lack of creature upgrades. That was the biggest slap in the face for all those HoMM fans. Nonetheless, the game still kicked ass in a whole lot of other things. Might as well say it had its hidden charms. :)
I will Always remember these games from 1-4 rest is sadly a let down to me :/ but the heroes 1-4 will Always hold a special heart and Music like this O.M.G :)

I liked all heroes games and from the 2 the music vastly improved. Nostalgic, romantic and catchy. I like many game themes and usually the 1990-2015 game songs were great usually the old era games. It brings a lot of memories and still there are games in 2021 with great musics but I do prefer the ones what made my childhood. Sad to see how many games were forgotten or just not popular enough when there had masterpieces in all genres. Still there are few person who bashing me for listening video game music because in their eyes this is just kid's stuff and not real music.... Luckily these musics catch my sould and in some bad days it brigthen me. Wish long long live to this song and hopefully still some plays the game aswell. :)

I am living in Poland so I know how it is to have low sallary I get payment equal to 620$ after all taxes (on paper i get something close to 1000$). I still buy games like that. After so much time it's easy to find classics like that cheaper. Gog even has sales from time to time.
Right. Let's settle this. Not too long ago me and my girlfriend played H5 together. I have arrived at the conclusion that it doesn't matter which game you play, it's all about who you play it WITH. All the games are fantastic masterpieces, we just prefer certain games bacause of what gave us our individual good memories. I can reminice about playing H3 with my neighbor when i was seven all I want, but someone else has probably had the same experience with H4, and that's fine. All of 'em are good
The sound quality for the music in thease games are stunningly amazing. It's strange. From the child playing this game for the first time to the sixteen year old me today; it still sounds absolutely stunning. the video quality is 480. But that doesn't dictate every single aspect of the quality, i assume. cx

Co jest ciekawe, to świetna gra MMO, Lineage 2, podłapała kilka soundtracków z tej gry bo były tak epickie. Motyw muzyczny z 0:43 występuje w krótkiej wersji jako utwór "tree of life" (jest na youtube), tak samo dalsza część utworu to pierwowzór hymnu miasta Goddard. Jednak ta wersja heroes'owa powala mnie na kolana.
O ile wiem Paul tworząc ten soundtrack, wzorowal się na pieśniach celtyckich, więc nie dziwota że są podobne motywy. W piratach z karaibow gdy wejdziesz do tawerny gra muzyka wręcz identyczna jak Sea theme z h4. Okazało się że to stara celtycka pieśń :p

Still listen to this day... It's always been a mystery to me, how people negatively react and underestimate Heroes IV alone. Sure thing is the game more way to RPG and less Strategy like older legendary H3. But I actually enjoyed it much. The Title of the whole Series is "Heroes", not "Total War", then what's wrong when focusing on this point? Beside, the RPG element would not much affect your gameplay until your Heroes could reach certain lv. The Graphics are no doubt bad. But what was people expecting from a game around 2000? Sadly I played H4 after much years later (around 2012) and didn't aware of the Internet (rather was enjoying my list of many Games). So I couldn't show the people how good this game could be (H3 still the best).

i hated the limited castle upgrade. most of the scenarios didn't have the full upgrade. You were limited in your choice

HoMM 4 was too busy trying to fix everything that wasn't even broken, it feels more like a weird experimental mod than an actual Heroes game.

Though I've played HoMM from 1 to 4 extensively and love them all, HoMM4 had the best campaign stories and music to match them.
I still have the install Disk for Heroes 3 with all the dlc, and Heroes 4 with all the dlc. So good.

Right. Let's settle this. Not too long ago me and my girlfriend played H5 together. I have arrived at the conclusion that it doesn't matter which game you play, it's all about who you play it WITH. All the games are fantastic masterpieces, we just prefer certain games bacause of what gave us our individual good memories. I can reminice about playing H3 with my neighbor when i was seven all I want, but someone else has probably had the same experience with H4, and that's fine. All of 'em are good

The sound quality for the music in thease games are stunningly amazing. It's strange. From the child playing this game for the first time to the sixteen year old me today; it still sounds absolutely stunning. the video quality is 480. But that doesn't dictate every single aspect of the quality, i assume. cx
The flute in the background is quite engaging, like an OST Tree of Life from LineageII.

it's a song called Fear a' Bhàta, it's an old gaelic folk song and many many games have versions of it.
So one of the IMO best game music comes from a royalty free sample pack.

Co jest ciekawe, to świetna gra MMO, Lineage 2, podłapała kilka soundtracków z tej gry bo były tak epickie. Motyw muzyczny z 0:43 występuje w krótkiej wersji jako utwór "tree of life" (jest na youtube), tak samo dalsza część utworu to pierwowzór hymnu miasta Goddard. Jednak ta wersja heroes'owa powala mnie na kolana.
O ile wiem Paul tworząc ten soundtrack, wzorowal się na pieśniach celtyckich, więc nie dziwota że są podobne motywy. W piratach z karaibow gdy wejdziesz do tawerny gra muzyka wręcz identyczna jak Sea theme z h4. Okazało się że to stara celtycka pieśń :p

Still listen to this day... It's always been a mystery to me, how people negatively react and underestimate Heroes IV alone. Sure thing is the game more way to RPG and less Strategy like older legendary H3. But I actually enjoyed it much. The Title of the whole Series is "Heroes", not "Total War", then what's wrong when focusing on this point? Beside, the RPG element would not much affect your gameplay until your Heroes could reach certain lv.
The Graphics are no doubt bad. But what was people expecting from a game around 2000?
Sadly I played H4 after much years later (around 2012) and didn't aware of the Internet (rather was enjoying my list of many Games). So I couldn't show the people how good this game could be (H3 still the best).
