I always like the sprites in homm 2 and those multi colored trees. The music in this game was so good. Homm 3 might have been better but homm 2 was right near it.

Same! I don't know why, but there's just something about the art aesthetic of HoMM 2 (from the towns to the maps to the units) that just feels SO much more unique and special compared to the art styles of later games. HoMM 3 is definitely a lot more interesting/fun from a strategic and gameplay perspective, but HoMM 2 will always hold a special place in my heart.
@@Zaxares Homm2 I thought was much better, Homm 3 felt like choice didn't matter nearly as much with every creature having an upgrade very similar power levels, resources etc. It felt like all towns in 3 more or less play the same. More strategies can be used undeniably in 3 but the towns don't feel too different mechanic wise. Plus the art style and theme in Homm2 make so much more sense to me, Warlock is mythological monsters and hybrids, Sorceress is Celtic/German folklore fey, Wizard clearly Tolkien inspired etc. Homm2 art Style is beautiful and crisp with its contrast even to this day.
Really love how this track and Heroes V's grass theme returned in VI.

I never played this game or even listened to the original. But I knew this track via NWC which is all midi.
Only today I was revisiting NWC and this theme and wondered what the original sounded like.
I was surprised that it sounds almost exactly the same.

@@ahellicopter1396 True, a chicken move to be sure. However, it is after all more tolling on their own resources given that a hero costs 2500 gold, which is usually more than the damages incurred by a lightning bolt / cold ray etc. That being said, I agree 100%.

Thank you for the extended version. However, I wish the pause in between loops was the same amount of time as in-game. Seems rushed, the way it is.

For a longer pause, you can just look at a non-extended version and put it on a loop by right-clicking.
