This game had more soul than any of the others, even above the third and most celebrated in the series. This game's atmosphere is very special and the soundtrack almost has a healing effect.
Always felt that 5 was the true spiritual successor to 2. Made me think, after seeing the opening cinematic of 6, that that would be the successor to 4. Alas, Conflux. The 3 crowd really needed their successor, because that's a solid spin on the original formula, with some added flavor of player decision. 2 was an effective sequel to 1, so it contains a purity later titles can't match.
@@alichinoalichino2283 terribly looking 3D renders that replaced "hand drawn" sprites in 3 killed it for me. The game lost its visual charm completely. I did play homm3 though, but not nearly as much as 2. I still play 2 from time to time, not so much 3.

what the hell, its all the midi only versions, this game had a full operatic soundtrack. I can tell you recorded this from the in game sound effects why would you use the lower quality? You even go as far as to include the lowest quality version of the main theme but then you omit the best versions? and for some strange reason the barbarian theme only is full version.

Homm3 is overrated. It has nothing on homm2

I grew up on Heroes 3! I must admit I am blown away at the soundtrack of the second installment of the series.
I think Heroes II always sounded the best of them.
