I remember that I have been once playing this game during the summer holiday at my grandmother house. She was sitting behind me reading the magazines and doing other stuff and she asked me what kind of beautiful music is it and if I can play her one of the grassland melody again because she like it. Unfortunately my grandmother died this week and at that day I played this song about 20x just for her and I must admit that I was crying like a little boy.I have my eyes full of tears right now too:(
@maleficarum7980 I still think about that moment, that room we were sitting in, the smell of grandparents flat (lots of food and cakes) when I play this music from time to time. Sadly, in the meantime, my other grandparents passed away too, so my melancholy is not as strong anymore as it is now divided in between 4 people, but still 💔
Haha I think the opposite. Truly I do. I really like the game mechanics, the hero building, the option of choice for creatures but I just couldn't stand the audio and video in general. All the creatures and the towns were ugly af, and I just swiched off the music. And ye, I also really liked the story telling of the campaign, especially the classic ones and the second expansion (while the first was rather poor).
Not only music and artstyle, but texts as well. I really loved those textual description to every single item, every single world object that made it feel like reading a book.
Actually Heroes 4 had something I really liked that no other Heroes game had: heroes that dismounted and fought alongside their army, kicking ass upon the battlefield. Some really over-powered heroes could be an army unto themselves, and not just passive statues who granted bonuses to their troops and used the occasional magic. It also added a great role-playing element that I've missed since then.
BuzzKill True that was diffrent, sadly i dont like the idea that the heroes could become almost unkillable, but i also dont like heroes that are weak as fuck :) it kinda removes the whole idea about haveing heroes if they are weak as fuck :)
Elchupanibres To be fair, a high level hero was going to make a huge difference in a battle anyway in other games. I dunno, I was fine with it. They probably won't be putting it in any new games tho given heroes 5 to 7 didn't have it.
Age of wonders 3 has alongside fighting heroes, kinda like that game, but also it got issues havent tried it for quite some time now so might have changed with patches
Paul Romero said before, that tunes like this were pre-recorded bits of ancient instruments playing very old melodic fragments which composers can add orchestral accompaniment and vary the speed of the melody to suit the mood of the game. These fragments come in instrumental catalogs and many soundtrack composers will use bits and pieces of melodies to incorporate into their scores, which is why some games have similar music. This has got nothing to do with which game was released earlier.
Very interesting to hear. He is such a talented composer and his scores are so very beautiful. It is a bit tragic really that Romero has not gotten the recognizition that he very much so deserves in my mind atleast but we heroes fans know atleast. All the best man.
It's one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. FlyByno also has done some awesome work. The songs that video game developers put out is so underrated it's not even funny. I pay more attention to games than I do to the radio.
Heroes5 is my first Heroes, and it's my favorite in terms of graphic design. Maybe it's because the game is russian, and i am russian myself, and the game was made at time when Russian games didn't suck... Kings Bounty the Legend is freaking best.
Heroes died along with 3DO and New World Computing which why this game and Might and Magic IX were released unfinished. Heroes V was a worthy effort I'll give you guys that.
i remember playing this when i was 6 all the time. my mom was annoyed but I kept playing it. it was like I was living in two worlds and this was my favourite. my computer broke and I got a MacBook. but it couldn't take this game. the graphic was to low. i tried many times. and it didn't work. i almost lost the memory and the dream of playing this again. now I'm 17 and I started playing heroes might and magic 6. and I got reminded of this. i searched on google, found the music to it. and then it hit me... i still remembered the beautiful and magical music to it. and I shivered. i will keep listening tp this. it reminds me of my youth
I ve played this game ages go, but because of its beautifull and unforgiveable soundtracks I remeber every part of this song like ive been playing this game ever since back then, until yesterday
I played it for it's soul and it's magical charm. The soundtrack was just a heaven sent bonus. I still play it today. I have had many adventures in HOMM4 and there are many more to come.
I love how with each year there are more and more people that love Heroes IV rather than hate it. Even if the game has some weak (or rather confusing) points, the music, atmosphere and storytelling are something else worth experiencing. Heroes 2 will remain my favourite for the end of times, first one has its powers of nostalgia to it and 3 & 5 sucked half of my free time in life, but fourth game is special in completely different ways. And it closely ties up with Heroes Chronicles -> it ties with Tarnum the gigachad himself! What's not to love here?!
i played this game when i still was just about 17 years old. now im 27. but its music still has been printed in my mind. i whistle this music whenever im down or sad. it makes me be stronger and calm down.
what a fantastic piece of music. I am listening this nearly 20 years to calm my soul and probably will keep listening all my life. Actually, I would pick this music for my funeral as well :)
When i heard this track first time, i stop playing and just listen it until it ends. And same happens with every damn track - they all a masterpieces, especially nature city theme
Have not heard this in what, a decade?. Randomly came across it today and I remember the tunes so clearly because I liked them so much back then. Listened to this about 30 times now and there's still plenty of hours left in the day for more.
I really hope I'm not the only person who loved this series of games for both its unparalleled music and fascinating, numerous stories. The gameplay and creatures were impressive on many accounts as well.
My grandmother passed away last spring, she always liked how i gave her a hug and the night before she passed i was with her and asked her if she needs anything and watcher over her a little while playing on my phone, but she told it to my mother as if i stayed there all night and she was very thankfull about it. If only i could watch over her 20x more times :( without her saying a word, just to see her a bit.
On my list my three favourites are HOMM 2 (nostalgia :), my first serious game, which I played hundred of hours), then 3 (best gameplay) and then 4 (best music and still very good gameplay). Many hate the idea with heroes as part of army but in my opinion it adds more tactical options and makes game little bit harder.
It made game a piece of cake once hero was leveled enough. Even with that in mind I personally liked idea it added nice rpg element as skills and magic were well made. I felt like HOMM 5 magic was subpar to HOMM 3 and 4.

+Telkine for me its also the best, cant describe the feelings playing and listening to this music, i felt i was in a fairytail book, i even download it again after years and it was like the first time i liked it the same way
+the podian i'm sorry, but the one reason you came to dislike homm3 was because of the ONE AND ONLY FEATURE that was decent in homm4?? i bet you were also a bit peeved when playing homm3 and you could fully build you castle's with all 7 units instead of you know, only getting half of the choices like you can in homm4? i respect your opinion of enjoying homm4, but it's just too silly to say you came to dislike 3 because of something like that
Totally agree Connor, the one and only worthwhile change was moving units without a hero but even then, I wouldn't change HOMM3 at all, it is the perfect version of HOMM in my opinion.
i almost agree, it has the best music, best hero skills, interesting combat system, but the creatures and some other aspects of graphics look ridiculous
It's so strong that it's capable of making me feel exactly how i felt 10 years ago... For a moment atleast. It might not have been a good game, but it definetely had a soul.
Spazz Maticus for me its homm 3 and 4 5 was okey, but imo i had most fun with the MnM series, and since MnM and Homm is from the same universe i Think u can have both :)
Hero's 3 was the best game ever, my friends and myself up to six in the morning, and then get ready for school, I liked to play on the Impossible level and some maps were just that awesome I felt more at home there than where I actually lived,.
@@jess1684 they both come from the same celtic music sample collection, i think its called "AMG Complete Celt", you can hear it in many other games, even Wither 3!
that song like a wind on the ocean to me ears so beuitifull and so peaceful. Thats the first song thats making me happy I am happy that you got that song because that song it is so peaceful.
Brings a tear to my 25 year old self. I don't care about the game itself. I just felt like I had to listen to this amazing piece of music. It's just to brilliant to ever forget! ;-(
IV maybe not a good game, but it has the atmosphere that V & VI dont have. Omg I cant believe Im crying now. The first track is so sad. Damn those happy days gone so fast
Dunno why this reminds me of my school days (10-14) and my younger self/my initial cities and imaginations even though i first played it at the age of 23
I remember the days back when attending basic school,2nd grade. Getting up at 5 a.m. to sneak into my father's ''office room'', where we had our only PC with only one game installed - Heroes II. I used to play till the sun rose up over the horizon, and then reluctantly went to school, head full of that wonderful game. Will never forget that :-)
4я часть героев по сути была сырая. у разрабов небыло достаточно времени чтоб довести игру до совершенства, финансы поджимали. но композиторы постарались на все 100. Музыка реально захватывает.
Oh God we were so patient to play such games ..Boy oh boy I remember my childhood I can't count how many hours I spent on the game multiplayer mode with my cousin... set and read every single spell . I feel so nostalgic right now.
when I first played the game after HoM&M3 I was like "what the..? eww" and quitted..but after a couple of days I decided to give it a shot, and this game's great, quite different from the others but special and fun, I might even say my favorite HoM&M
Well, it's not just a game's music. Many of the themes in HOMM4 are arrangements of traditional folk songs of Celtic and other origins. You can find some different arrangements of the exact same themes in the Lineage 2 soundtrack, for example (see "Road of Kings", a HOMM4 grassland theme), Pirates of the Caribbean (the tavern theme is the HOMM4 sea theme) and even TV shows and music. I hope that one day I'll eventually find the names and exact origins of all these amazing little tunes.
The myth that Heroes IV was the worst game from the series was built on the ideea that 3DO went bankrupt in that period. The sad reality was that 3DO went bankrupt because of it's own fans, instead to buy the game most of them had pirated copies. That's the truth. I wonder, how many of those accusing Heroes 4 to be the worst game have the original CD? And so, a great team that influenced our childhood and embellished it was betrayed by it's own generation of fans. UbiSoft is a great team too...but they will never be like 3DO. They can't do TBS like 3DO used to.
Well, they made Might&Magic IX. They spend nice money on making this game and it didnt sell well (actually it sold pretty bad) and they have lost great amount of money.
I don't have all the details, but this was my interpretation of what happened. I can't source it at the moment, but I've read some interviews from the developers that also hinted at this being the case... You might recall that Heroes III's first expansion, Armageddon's Blade, was initially supposed to be kind of a sci-fi crossover. It wasn't really well-known by a lot of the fan base, but Jon's initial idea of the Might and Magic series was that "monsters" like orcs and demons were actually aliens from some distant world (as was actually the case with the Ultima series as well). In the original Might and Magic I, your party eventually comes to a crashed spaceship that reveals this. Anyway, while this lay dormant for a while, it was going to be brought back again for Armageddon's Blade. Some concept art leaked, including some controversy-stirring pictures of topless naga / tank combinations. The plot was apparently that Archibald or some other Heroes villain had essentially gotten hold of time-travelling technology and was able to bring modern technology into a fight for control of Erathia. Many fans were furious when this leaked, and threatened to boycott the game, feeling that it was a complete abandonment of what they thought Heroes III to be. So what did the developers at New World Computing do? They caved and completely changed the plot to a more conventional fantasy one - the Armageddon's Blade that was eventually released. They were able to turn it around, redesign the new town and campaigns, and release the new version of the expansion. Since they had to abandon everything from the previous incarnation, they were essentially starting from scratch. What 3DO subsequently noticed is - NWC was able to put out a Heroes III expansion, complete with a new town and extra features *in just three months*, instead of the original six that were planned (which I believe is already a short timeline). What I believe is that all Heroes of Might and Magic releases that were coordinated after Armageddon's Blade were rushed. While I enjoyed Shadow of Death, I feel the writing lacks more than any of the previous releases before it. Some of the SoD campaign dialogue specifically mentions game mechanics, and it's the first time that I'm aware of that there is some conflicting canon (Sandro the Necromancer had been a fleshless lich since Heroes 1, but appears as a young wizard in SoD, which explicitly takes place after Heroes 2). By the time that expansions for Heroes IV were released, the writing had deteriorated to the point that one of the campaigns literally features a druid called "Erutan Revol" - which is "Nature Lover" reversed. Heroes I was initially released in 1995. Heroes 2 followed a little over a year later in 1996, with its expansion in 1997. Heroes 3 and its two expansions were released within about a year from 1999-2000. Heroes 4 and its two expansions followed in 2002-2003. To me, it really just seems that NWC was racing to meet unrealistic expectations from 3DO, and the entire thing eventually fizzled.
Blake Boyd In Might&Magic VI your enemies are also aliens, but they look more like demons, at the end of the game you get blaster rifle which i really dislike but rest of the game is great. In armaggedons blade cyborg town was The Forge if i remember well, and it was deleted so they made this town with phoenixes etc.
I had the original cds for h2/h3 back when they got released. I later bought h4 when it came out, I played it for an hour and then tossed it in the recycle bin.
Haereticus Sacrilegum yes ur somewhat right that us fans could be better but 3DO and NWC had issues and most companies had problems back when the 2-3d Homm was out not every1 had computers and most fans didnt have jobs and paying like 50bucks wasnt an option, i bought my cds cuz i knew it was Worth it and it still is :) thats what seperates CRAP to a work of art, the art will Always live on while the crap will disaper :)
The best game from Heroes series is part III (some could say part V). In a matter of fact I don't like part IV :) but I still think that this Music is great.
utterly beutiful and compelling the music is half the experience when playin HoMM series . i stand in awe of the game developers accomplishments for a single game .
So, interesting fact: the part at 3:20 was used in The Last: Naruto the Movie, during the scene where Hinata and Naruto are in the woods together. Is the vocal part common use or something?
+Niewidzialna ręka rynku he's not untrue guyys, the grass land songs have been used in fairy tail, i think you can actually buy the song for your personal use or it do not have anymore an copyright on it?
Those games had a soul...idk is that because i'm not 10 anymore or those games had something that todays games do not...Games like Warcraft, HOMM, Lotr and many more made me feel like out of this world...you could almost feel the magic
HoMM IV reminds me alot of childhood, great times.. :( Also at that picture at 5:45 I thought "Maybe I should think twice when using things that may harm the beautiful nature", not that I think that I will do anything about it but that thought just hit my head in that moment. What if it disappeared and the world looked like the Stronghold towns?
This music makes me miss playing this with my childhood friend, we could sit all weekend and after school playing, now i dont see him anymore and its just work and stress, miss childhood:(

Maybe this game had some weird mechanics. But this game created an atmosphere with the artstyle and music that's the best in the series

So for me it's 1,2,3,4 and Might&Magic VI,VII :D
Spazz Maticus for me its homm 3 and 4 5 was okey, but imo i had most fun with the MnM series, and since MnM and Homm is from the same universe i Think u can have both :)
Ksensei41 Word :)
HOMM IV still playing today!!! is amazing this game...the best.
Hero's 3 was the best game ever, my friends and myself up to six in the morning, and then get ready for school,
I liked to play on the Impossible level and some maps were just that awesome I felt more at home there than where I actually lived,.
Reminds me of Mongolian shamanic druids and their chanting mixed with medieval European fantasy chanting (fairy romances or The Witcher)
this is music of ' Warlords battlecry II ' have fusion with ' Heroes IV ' ☺
Reda Haskouri Original Part of the music is literally exactly the same - does anyone one if it was made by the same composer?
@@jess1684 they both come from the same celtic music sample collection, i think its called "AMG Complete Celt", you can hear it in many other games, even Wither 3!
that song like a wind on the ocean to me ears so beuitifull and so peaceful.
Thats the first song thats making me happy
I am happy that you got that song because that song it is so peaceful.
You can almost smell the grass and feel the winds comb the fields with their wandering and ethereal touch.
I know that some of you came back to this amaizing song because of the Witcher 3 don't be shame show yourselves :)
+romekkko true dat :)
What? What is the reletion with HOMM and Warcraft 3…?
+Гарик Степанян Witcher 3 not Warcraft 3
Yes,sorry i see now :D
I always thought the Wild Hunt soundtrack borrowed heavily from HOMM4! Pure genius.
Brings a tear to my 25 year old self. I don't care about the game itself. I just felt like I had to listen to this amazing piece of music. It's just to brilliant to ever forget! ;-(
I have played heroes 2-6 and with all recpect to heroesIII, heroesIV is my favourite one. it's different, magical.
Those songs ... Good memory, 'will never forget.
IV maybe not a good game, but it has the atmosphere that V & VI dont have. Omg I cant believe Im crying now. The first track is so sad. Damn those happy days gone so fast
Don't put it that way or I'll start crying too!
I'm crying. Join me.
+oguzc.steam you're right it's not a good game. It's an incredible game which is still played by a lot of people after so many years
Dunno why this reminds me of my school days (10-14) and my younger self/my initial cities and imaginations even though i first played it at the age of 23
this is so serene and peaceful, love homm4.
@John Rambo
2:53 fields of heaven music
Man, the music is one big reason for bringing me to play IV again and again every now and then. Most of these are just masterpieces.
Блин и вправду музыка самая лучшая во всей линейке , но третьи все равно круче
В 3тьих, между прочим для того времени была очень даже чёткая муза) Меня тема из оплота (кажись) города эльфов, восточная такая - до сих пор прёт)
+Alex Artemov
Well, it's not just a game's music. Many of the themes in HOMM4 are arrangements of traditional folk songs of Celtic and other origins. You can find some different arrangements of the exact same themes in the Lineage 2 soundtrack, for example (see "Road of Kings", a HOMM4 grassland theme), Pirates of the Caribbean (the tavern theme is the HOMM4 sea theme) and even TV shows and music. I hope that one day I'll eventually find the names and exact origins of all these amazing little tunes.
Honestly, it's because of a MLP SFM video that I found out about this song. Now I'm a huge fan and I'm so grateful to have found out about this song
5:40 Oddly reminds me of a track from Lineage 2. Goddard or Shuttgard perhaps.
Wish CD PROJEKT RED would hire Paul Romero to do the future Witcher soundtracks.
Memories from 6-7 years old. so beautiful
This bring tears to my eyes... Thank you so much Master Romero!
This music is from a different world just amazing
So, interesting fact: the part at 3:20 was used in The Last: Naruto the Movie, during the scene where Hinata and Naruto are in the woods together. Is the vocal part common use or something?
its an ancient gaelic song and has been used in many games like the witvher 3 and total war
No bro its Reve de Lointain by Yogitea lol
I am reminded of Fairy Tail suddenly :D
i know right! xDDD
Neko chan the same music is in the last naruto the movie
oh... :D
some FT songs do have HoMM IV samples in it actually
Actually all of them are sampled from Reve de Lointain by Yogitea
I'm glad this randomly showed up in my recommendations. Thanks for bringing back some good childhood nostalgia
Heroes IV has the most beautiful music of all games.
Holy shit 3:31 Naruto The Last????
Naruto GER YES! in Naruto the Last 46:55 min + or-

+Niewidzialna ręka rynku he's not untrue guyys, the grass land songs have been used in fairy tail, i think you can actually buy the song for your personal use or it do not have anymore an copyright on it?

Beautiful, simply beautiful the kind of music you can listen to for hour after hour after hour.......year after year after year.
Your pictures are beutiful! And this music...oh man...so many memories..so many tears....so many emotions! Great job!
This is a Warlord Battlecry II theme ripoff
Actually both of them (Also many more games and movies) copied Reve de Lointain by Yogitea
No, Yogitea is younger than these musics. @@holqua4582
Worst Heroes game... but I'll give them due credit; The music was awesome! :)
I disagree. I think Heroes 6, or whatever it's called, is the worst.
Nebuchadnezzaurus Ugh... don't remind me! >.<
I still think 4 is the worse of the two, but 6 is deffinently not good. :S
moron
Somnu Bonel Why is he a moron for stating his opinion? To be honest, it did have terrible gameplay but great music. 1,2,3,5 are the best in my book.
Insidious_void Not a very specific lsit, eh? :P
If you had to thin that list down to 1 or 2 titels, which would still remain?
God, this theme is beautiful
this song gives me the chills
Those games had a soul...idk is that because i'm not 10 anymore or those games had something that todays games do not...Games like Warcraft, HOMM, Lotr and many more made me feel like out of this world...you could almost feel the magic
I didn't like Heroes IV that much until I played its campaigns. The story coupled with beautiful music made IV best of the series for me.
HoMM IV reminds me alot of childhood, great times.. :(
Also at that picture at 5:45 I thought "Maybe I should think twice when using things that may harm the beautiful nature", not that I think that I will do anything about it but that thought just hit my head in that moment. What if it disappeared and the world looked like the Stronghold towns?
I just got 6 for Christmas and honestly it reminds me of 4 in many ways. Except the music.
Lovely game ,lovely music. Heroes 4 is my favourite.
Great song! It really goes well with the wild nature pics! It's one of my favorite songs to listen when trekking.
Wooooow, the aesthetics of the european landscapes with this music that the folks used to play like in old days make me shivering.
This music makes me miss playing this with my childhood friend, we could sit all weekend and after school playing, now i dont see him anymore and its just work and stress, miss childhood:(
few like heroes 4 from the begining..but after u get deep in the campaigns u are gona adore it
Excellent taste in music and outstanding photography! Great job, man!
I remember the game was so fantastic, and the music put tears in my eyes, so beautiful...
my grand father loved watching me play heroes 3 and warcraft 3 but when he died those games are my last memories of him :"(
