Intro Song: "Issa Trap" by Mikey Geiger
I like Kaya. I was happy to see that he is now more relaxed, comfortable and authoritative in this video. It takes a while to get adjusted to any new job. Especially when that job requires you to step in front of a camera and make videos that are viewed by a lot of people. Good work Kaya. I am definitely a fan !

No it doesn't look at tik tok.
@@Adam-kj4pp easy Adam, take it easy this isn’t tiktok 😂
Dude acts and speaks a little neurotic.
If the optic says it’s zeroed out of the box, don’t mess with it until you shoot. Also make sure to dim the dot,,so you can barely see it. Much more precise zero. If your an iffy pistol shooter definitely bench it in some way. None the less, great info. Y’all keep it up.
Best comment 👌🏾
Can you explain this more? Why dim it? And what does bench it in mean??
@@86asstasticwhen you dim it, the dot gets smaller, which makes you able to focus on a smaller target area.
@@86asstasticbench it in means You use a bench rest or a way to stabilize your weapon. Novice shooters have a more difficult time being accurate regardless if the fit is zeroed or not. Using a bench reduces human element (suckiness).
to new shooters (like me), when benching it, use something that allow a full grip.
I could not grip mine right and didn't notice my left thumb was off and up.
Luckily the slide only took off a bit of skin.
Yeah, I would do two things different. Bore sight before first shot with a laser cartridge of some sort, and bench rest it or at least use a tripod. I tend to bore sight and adjust the dot in combo before I even get to the range.
Amen. Bore sight cheaper than boxes of ammo, faster too
Kaya is becoming more comfortable on camera. That's awesome!
Fudge the haters bro.
Practice makes perfect, and you are proving it sir.
Cheers from Texas
Perfect timing, I just recently got a Sig p320 X VTAC mourned a Romeo 1pro with a TLR7a sight about to go to range in a few days to get it sighted intime for my CCW permit, simple yet well done video !
I like using a bore sight laser.... it's very precise and all I have to do is decide the distance I want it sighted in at.... that way I know my hold over for targets closer or further away.... and I don't burn up a bunch of ammo... then I can double check it at the range and make any additional adjustments
Kaya is actually a really good shooter, i learned everything i know about guns and this channel from him.
Was just making arrangements this very day to mount my first red dot on a pistol - this is VERY timely! Thanks for all the great content this year!
I had never seen those infinity targets! Those are awesome!
Code MAGDUMP at checkout 😉
lmao. funny his initial thoughts were, "you can see the dot is all the way to right of the front sight" *cranks to left before shooting* "now it's waaaay to the left" lol thanks for the vid as always though.
Was Kayas sight attached all the way ? He was really off and was adjusting a ton , pretty sure he’s a much better shooter than the dot showed , great vid , love the chemistry being grown on screen
As my eyes are getting older and difficult to focus on iron sights, I find this red dot option very useful. Without glasses I can quickly pick-up a sight picture with both eyes open. I'm considering getting a red dot for my wife now. I use a laser sighter for initial zero to save on ammo. Love your work guys. You've been most helpful in many areas.
I spent a lot of time and money going from iron sights to a red dot and in the end my regular range drills there was no difference in my accuracy. 5-20 yards is all I shoot with my daily. My accuracy went up when shooting 40 yards but that is the possible not the probable when it comes having to defend yourself. So I spent about $600 altogether to realize that I didn't need a red dot after all for my carry .
IMO tracking a target via a reflex sights is much faster than iron, which is valuable for defense
The value of optics isn’t accuracy, it’s acquiring a target quickly under stress.
Gun looks cooler though.
Good video guys. The only thing I do differently is to bore sight my pistol RDS before I go to the gun range. This has saved me lots of time at the range sighting in my pistol RDS.
I’ve had the same luck sighting in my Swampfox optics. They’re pretty much zeroed right out of the box.
It's so wild to me that that's the case. So many different pistols but they seem to be pretty spot on right out the box....It don't make sense lol
Woow It's an amazing instructional video thanks !
Ah be abi kimse yorumu beğenmemiş ilk ben olam
I've shot quite a bit over last 45 years and since my retirement as an LEO. At ten yards, I can do as well with iron sights on my S&W 2.0 pistols. I see the only benefit to an optic is long distance shooting.
However, I am still intrigued at trying an optic.
Same here. I have no problem at 10-15 yards with iron. I'm interested in the RD for 20 plus yards.
I have multiple firearms with red dots & upon initial install I’ve noticed some of the red dots are so far to the right so I thought to myself, I wonder if I can use the tool and align it left as close as I can to the sights since they’re so far off before even hitting the range. This video attempted to do just that, however, the red dot was moved far left to align, but when he shot it, it was just that - too far left, which tells me maybe he shouldn’t have even attempted to adjust it since it put it way off and had he not touched it, it might have been a lot closer to zero. This also taught me not to adjust before hitting the range. Just my .2 cents.
It's either cold out there or Kaya is still feeling the after-effects of the 1-chip Challenge.
I use a bore laser to zero my red/green dots at the house using 10 yards before I take it to the range and do the final adjustment at 15 or 25 yards depending on what I will use the pistol for. For home defense, 10 yards, for street self defense 15, for competition 25.
The two work great together, awesome content!
I use a laser bore sighter for initial rough adjustment of sights, saves lots of ammo.
Same. 10 bucks on Amazon, no excuse not to
That’s the way to go. 100 % agreed
What no one mentions (that I’ve heard), is the relation of dot/bore. If you zero your red dot at 7 yards, if/when you shoot at 25 yards, you will hit terribly high. I sight my dots and lasers at 50 yards. Anywhere from muzzle to that point, your bullet will be no further from the dot or laser than the bore is….generally 1/2”-1”.
Glad Clint showed the range finders use, I've always used a laser bore to start, then make my adjustments for my personal shooting style (little low and to the left) so my wife never gets a good placement with mine because I end up adjusting it out of center a bit.
Should start calling Kaya, boomerang. lol Great vid
Bangarang!
Great work guys.I'm surprised Kaya was so far off on his first go.I'm really going to have to fine tune my red dots on pistols now.
I wasn’t. Red dots are supposed to be factory zeroed at 25 meters. The massive adjustment he made before even making the first shot is what caused him to be so far off. He ended up adjusting back to where the red dot was from factory.
Just got two new red dots. Perfect timing because I’m always looking for better techniques and information.
I lined my red dot up with my irons, then used a bore sight, and I am about to take it out to the range.
Appreciate these types of videos guys! I got my first rifle recently, and put an LPVO on it. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but I could not even get hits on the target to know what adjustments to make, let alone get it really zero'd. Gonna have to go back and try again.
Try bore sighting it. You can usually get on paper if you use a laser bore sight
Heck your mount and make sure everything is snug. Blue loctite
I had to start off very close and move the target 5 meters at a time out to 50. Then moved it 25 at a time out to 200.
@@reaperrt1019 that sounds like overkill to me. If you’re on paper at 50 you should be on paper at 100 and if you’re on at 100 you’ll be on at 200
@@nickmceachern eh. It was fun to shoot. And I’m super zeroed! Hahaha
10 to 15 is perfect to sight your red dot on a pistol because if u need to shoot 5 yards or 25 its a good medium to be close
If you've got the money, man, bore lasers shaped like bullets that center themselves in the chamber are a HUGE ammo and time saver for getting you in the ballpark real fast
Didn't think it makes sense to adjust before you shoot, but just my opinion. Sights are normally tested before leaving factory, just may need a minor tweak.
I am not a steady enough shot to use the technique taught in the video, so I had to figure out a way that would work for me. I clamped my empty pistol, barrel down, under a light bright enough to see the three iron sights. I held my head so the front sight is properly aligned in the rear sights. My Sig P365XL has combat sights which mean that when aligned this way the bullet will go to the target where the center of the circle on the back side of the front sight is. If a gun uses non-combat sights the target should sit on top of the front sight. Using the adjustment screws on the red dot sight I moved the red dot so that it sits in the center of the front sight, which is where the bullet would go to. Now the bullet will go where the red dot is which is where the iron sights are also aimed. Voila! The red dot is zeroed without wasting any bullets. The results are good when I shoot the target at the range. I am open to any criticisms of this technique.
Sighting in your firearm does not shrink your groups, improving your technique does that.
Also put your dot center window when zeroing...
Those are good groupings?
2nd dudes groupings were pretty damn 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I wish you guys would have went into a little more detail about the actual adjustment. Thats what always trips me up.
Different red dots have different amounts of clicks for the same adjustment. Think 1 MOA. That’s a inch at 100 yards. So if one click on your site is supposed to a 1 MOA adjustment. At ten yards, that’s one tenth the distance. So if you wanted to move the dot 1 inch it would be ten clicks MOA per click sight.
@@albundy06 Thanks for the info. I'm pretty clear on that, it's more or less POA POI that trips me up and which direction I'm going. I always say to my self at the range, "Move my dot to my impacts". Is that correct?
* * Two guys...that's all you need ! * *
I think like with rifles, you're supposed to use rest with your pistol sitting down so you can take out the natural swaying you will have aiming the gun standing so you can get a better idea of what hold and a more accurate grouping
Good choice on the neck fur Clint... Don't be jelly of Kia's SUPER CHIN!
Kaya is the guy you do not want your new girlfriend to meet.
And he knows that.
Lmao that guy swore he did some thing at first talking about FBI this, FBI that “If you line it up you can see it’s too far right” then boom way off to the left, such comedy 💀🤣
Soooooo shouldn't have changed it from where he started hahahahhahahaha
Would it have been better to use a grid target? I "think" every square on a grid would be one click adjustment on an optic.
I usually do it with both eyes closed. It works for me? Idk why
Hey tacti-boys, I lost count how many times you swiped your left hand in front of the muzzle of that Glock, which I’m sure had the safety (😅) engaged.
You both forgot to mention that you should first zero with range ammo and then fine tune with your carry ammo. This will make sure that it is on point if you ever need it
Lol if your ammo varies that much you have a problem and shouldn’t even train with your range ammo
Yeah, the difference is probably negligible if you really think about it. The only thing I can imagine making a difference could be an aerodynamic thing? Some self defense rounds are crazy shapes, that could mess with velocity and trajectory and all that? I have heard this a lot though. Practice with your carry ammo soo its consistent? Sounds like a possible video idea? Haha thanks for y'alls comment. I've never even questioned that tip til now. I'm curious now 🤔 😅
Walkin down range after shooting without clearing weapon or holstering... pros don't forget the basics of safety... GM2(SW) out...
You should always have co-witnessing sights...don't ever rely 100% on your red dot...you should always have a backup.
At the bench do a rough alignment with a Laser Boresight cartridge. It doesn't replace actual rounds on paper, but it can really speed the process. And Rounds of Ammo = $$$!
Sweet it's Elvis and the other girl
At least Clint knew what he was doing.
Just got my first red dot optic for my pistol, thanks for the video, and by the way, was it raining
This would have been better if you actually explained MOA and how it relates to the target's distance and tell the people NOT to just turn the dials.
I am probably not as good a shooter but I use a rest every time i sight in
This video was perfectly dropped on time I just picked up a SwampFox Liberty & it's my 1st time shooting with a dot on my handgun. 👍🏼
Well you went all the way back to where you started from when you started moving left.. lol lol
What do you know, my slide is getting milled right now for an RMR..lol on a side note I like training for the non average situations
Great video... But let me tell you... adjust them a little more and you will shoot 2'' groups at 10 yards. Especially if your doing Mozambique drills... Two to center, Vest! One to head. I have an RMR on a Model 19 glock and its tight out to 20 meters.. Im not the best shot either..
I use a bore laser to help at first...then fine tune from there .. helps get a zero pretty quick!
Good to see Kaya again. Solid content as always
I use a sand bag and put a weapon light on, rest the light on the sandbag and zero off the bag. Very rare it takes more than 10 rounds to get it dialed in. Then I confirm that zero off the rest from normal shooting. Sometimes I’ll adjust it a smidge more after but never more than a little bit. It’s always best IMO to take the human element out of the zero process.
I remember someone and I won’t call any names Clint … trashing Glocks in a conversation with Kaya but yet here you stand with a Glock 45 MOS . Fence jumper but good content 😂.
Should have not adjusted the dot so far to the left before taking a shot.
Nice work. Please do the same video except using a visible red dot. Such as the Crimson Trace you see on the Smith and Wesson bodyguard .380. I think I know how to do it but I would like to see you guys make that video also.
Sounds like you're referring to a laser sight instead of a red dot. Easy answer would be shoot a few with it centered on target then put the laser on the bullet holes and while holding the gun steady, adjust laser back to the center.
Like those targets. Ironic that he thought the sight was way off to the right. Adjusted and was now way off to the left. Grip makes a difference!
This is the problem w dots. It’s too hard to get it right.
shout out classic firearm.beleted merry christmas and advance happy new year
Before I try to zero I try to line up the dot close to my irons as an indicator. Then i shoot 3 shot groups to zero from there. Granted im shooting a wee little shield plus
The way I zero my dots, are using the strikeman Lazer system, get it as close as possible then confirm at range
green boresith laser(bullet style) and the red dot, and a benchrest.let the red dot align with the green lazer on target.when finished take the bullet boresight out,put a mag in and try some shots.should be ok
A friend told me his experience shooting and training with a us marshal -- the marshal said it's best to shoot all over the place, the more holes the better. More organs to damage.
Lot of hassle!
I have Holosun on two of my guns first time with them I purchased a gun rest to Zero my red dots great video I dry fire a lot in my basement with a bore laser
Bench rested at 15 yards on a 1” target then check it freehand standing to see if my natural POA if a bit different . A sighted pistol should be no more than a 1.5” group at 10 yards
Definitely going to continue tuning in
Military over LE for the win! lol how was the brass gripping the adjuster seems it needs a notch? whyd Kaya leave FBI?
Laser bore sight. Adjust n done
So why a red dot if your shooting 10 yards. What are advantages and disadvantages?
“You have all the time in the world”
*proceeds to nervously shoot super fast and make exaggerated adjustments
You do, We ain't trying to make this a 30 minute video lol
This is why I want my red dot to cowitness. Should make it at least easier to start off.
This was hard to watch … how to not sight in a red dot . I have sighted in over 30 9mm in 2022. Put dot on with lock tite. Let sit over night . Go to range put up a 5’ bullseye. Stand at 10 yards, fire 3 shots adjust elevation shoot 3 more shots adjust windage. Repeat 1x then put up 3” bulls eye fire 5 shots all should be in circle. No bore sight needed no bench . Do not crank your dot 20 times before shooting . I’ve sighted holosun, trijicon RMR ,SRO, delta point pro and sig sauer . But Clint and kaya were still cool though 💯
I find it's faster if you sight in the dot ahead of time directly over the front sight post, saves you a few rounds. then back up the target to what you distance you want your sight at.
thar's some serious steady shooting
Genuine question, gents. Does the reticle on the optic HAS to line up with irons? Are the irons and optic independent sighting systems or does the dot have to lollipop the front sight when zeroed?
Perfect timing in this video
Do the 2 shots zero , but it takes another person to help turn the red dot
Some recommend shooting off of a bag for support and stability, rather than using your unsupported normal firing stance.
to get windage close, center your dot with the irons.
Is there a difference between the massive Swampfox versus the lower profile Leupold, Holosun or Trijicon in terms of accuracy? View-ability through the lens? Alignment with fixed sights?
check out some SageDynamics optics reviews, he does a great job with explaining all these things you are asking for each particular optic
this guy shoots like an FBI agent.
Shoot center mass, what a concept!
I’ve always zero in my iron sight first then Lolly pop my red dot then fine tune the dot. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Love my DPP and yea fine fine adjustments lol but it’s spot on
why not bore sight before firing your first shot. just my 2cents!
3 to 5 yards that blows the 21' rule!
I would definitely try to bench the firearm the best you can. Boresight is a great way to start.
Kaya needed to LBS (laser bore sight) that thing then made his refined adjustments.
Thanks for this vid guys 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 always wondered about this one and where most pistol engagement takes place / distance
