Thanks for another Fearless Friday with Kombativ! Specific thanks to Amanda for reminding you to talk about tangs on every knife. Tangs are important to many of us, and her raising the issue answers our questions. The coin purse saps are interesting. I had several thoughts as I watched that part of the video. One obvious issue is that because people don't use coins much anymore, this item becomes a more obvious weapon. In a non-permissive environment, maybe these coin purse slap jacks really aren't a practicable choice. I love the idea of a sap or slap jack as a weapon. I'm just not sure how useful these really are in that role. I'd want one a little heavier for real sap use. The other thought that comes to mind is that these might be a tempting target for pickpockets. While I didn't immediately know what it was when looking at it on your belt, I got the feeling that it contained something. I can see where a pickpocket might want to steal one just to see what it contained. Pickpockets might occasionally steal other items if those items looked expensive and could be pawned easily, but I don't think of pickpockets targeting weapons. All of this led me to an off-the-wall idea for a modern version. This version isn't a realistic product, but I enjoy thinking about it. Instead of designing this as a coin purse, one could design it as a wallet of sorts. It would need to open differently, but it would hold a driver's license and credit cards. It would hold some cash and maybe even a few coins. It would be lined with things to block scanners or even block an EMP. To achieve that blocking, each side of the pocket would be lined with lead foil and maybe even have some steel reinforcement. That the lead foil and steel reinforcement would add weight could be explained to anyone being difficult as just a part of what these things do to stop scanners. The device would also contain a rechargeable battery. LED light bar, and siren speaker. This new wallet would be worn on the belt similarly to what you show, but a pin assembly would connect to the belt. The pin would have a release on the belt. If someone pressed the release, the person could lift the wallet off the belt and get out whatever needed to be taken out of the wallet. The wallet would just be another wallet that was worn on the belt. It would be a little ostentatious, but it would just be a wallet. If the release wasn't used, then pulling the wallet off the belt would trigger the lights and siren. If a pickpocket tried stealing the wallet, the sudden lights and siren would mean that everyone would be looking at this pickpocket who was holding someone else's wallet. Pickpockets don't like that kind of attention. Maybe the pickpocket would drop the wallet and run. If the owner needed to use the wallet as a slap jack, the owner could just pull the wallet off without pressing that release. The battery would add weight to the sap. On top of that, the attacker would be standing there being hit with a sap that flashed lights and screamed at him with the siren. Even if the defender didn't administer a perfect sap strike, the noise and light might bother the attacker enough to stop attacking. At that point, the defender has survived even without delivering an effective strike. I'm not really serious, but I enjoyed thinking about all of this.
Awesome man. Good to see you back in your element and let me just tell you i loved that flashlight to not only blind, but also hit them with a surprise attack. Stay good and have an awesome weekend my good man.
Thank you, my friend! It’s great to see you on here too! That means a lot to me! You are definitely one of my favorites. I hope you have an awesome weekend, my friend!
I liked the flashlight. If it would have had a alarm that would have been awesome. The black tactical knife would be what I pick for a vote. As far as items goes Amanda does a awesome job on picking items. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Kyle! The black tactical knife is definitely my choice as well. I really appreciate your support for Amanda and I! It means a lot to me. Have an awesome weekend as well, my friend!
All of my comments have run long today. Yesterday, I commented in my usual style on something on Instagram, and they deleted my comment and called it spam. There was no chance to appeal. They wouldn't explain what was wrong. They didn't say anything about violence. They said something about trying to draw interaction. I had always thought that the purpose of social media was to have interaction. I wish the algorithm programmers would all disappear from the face of the earth. I guess I'm taking out my frustrations on your comment section. The Dark Ops Combat Knife looks great. In terms of pure "built for purpose" quality, this one is the best product in this week's video. You covered all the reasons in your discussion. Personally, I wouldn't have designed this knife with as much swedge along the top. Keeping the top spine thicker makes batoning easier and less damaging to the stick being used to baton. Granted, this knife was designed by a police officer for combat use. In that use, batoning isn't an issue. Even many people who are survivalists don't like batoning as a technique. If I'm in a situation where the only function of this knife is fighting, the swedge is great. If I need the the knife to be able function in other roles, I'd rather have less swedging. The D2 steel probably makes this knife the best made weapon on this week's show. Granted, I don't know the quality of their heat treating, but this knife at least has the potential to be the best in that regard. I'm not sure that this one will be on my wish list anytime soon, but this knife is impressive. If I had to vote for the "best" product this week, this knife would win easily.
RUclips's censorship is just as bad. Censorship is one of our top threats to freedom, and 'the plan' does not stop there. It's a shame or perhaps disgusting that Congress ignores the issue.
Awesome man! I love that knife too! Sadly, RUclips, Instagram and Facebook are filled with AI bots nowadays that leave comments specifically to promote divisiveness in the comments. That’s probably why you got flagged. It’s sad that it’s had to come to that, but I see it often in the comments nowadays. Have an awesome weekend, my friend!
Hey Kyle, how are you doing, bro? It’s good to see you here ,the original karate Mart host that’s the guy we want to see all of us original subscribers that’s why we subbed for you, bro. Nobody can substitute man glad to see your back.
Thank you, my friend! It’s great to see you on this channel as well! You are always so supportive! It really means a lot to me! I hope you are having an excellent weekend!
Great job, Kyle and crew. I really like the Defcon knife. I have a Defcon knife but it's a smaller one made of the same D2 steel, and I love it. The flashlight and sap are also cool. The cheap knife I hate. 3cr13mov is a terrible steel and is usually used on cheap junk knives that I wouldn't trust on an overnight camping trip.
If you don't have coins, you can use washers. I used to make leather weights for replacement for the well-known monkey fists. And sometimes, I would put in washers to use something else than coins.
In the UK Coin Purse/Slap Jack would be skirting the law, it would depend on the cop on the day. The Soft Grip Survival Knife is outright banned, it would be framed as a "Zombie Knife" under recent law, it is a none folder and with a blade over 3". The Tactical Flash light would be OK in the same way as the Coin Purse/Slap Jack. The Dark Ops Combat Knife is in the same category as the Soft Grip Survival Knife,
The "Dark Ops" fixed blade would be my choice. At 74 years old, I've been an avid collector & user of many types & used of cutlery & it looks like this knife could go up against any of the famous brand knives.
That comment ran long, so I'll start another one. I can't decide whether I like "Fearless Friday with Kombativ" or "Fearless Friday from Kombativ." The second version has more alliteration. The Comfort Grip Survival Knife is interesting. While the color scheme of the handle doesn't make the user look cool or tactical, I can see where that color scheme might be helpful if one had to use the knife for self-defense. A dishonest prosecutor can't exactly claim that the defender was looking for trouble walking around with a knife that has a bright, blue and green handle. There's nothing about that handle that screams, "Hey, I'm a tough guy just looking for a fight." After a self-defense encounter, that's a positive. In a survival situation that doesn't involve combat, the brightly-colored handle is also going to be easier to find on a forest floor. One is less likely to lose this knife. Having both handle attachments at the front end of the handle does look odd for a full-tang knife. At first glance, one wouldn't think that this knife is full-tang. Knowing that it is full-tang means that it will be more durable than it would be without a full tang. I don't like sawbacks on a survival knife. They will make batoning wood more difficult, and I don't think the utility of scraping bark would offset how the sawback would make batoning more difficult. I don't care for that design feature. The fact that the venting isn't straight doesn't bother me that much. The fact that the vent holes are more rectangular does bother me. A rectangular hole will have stress concentrations at the corners. If the knife is subject to much hard use, those stress concentrations could be initiation points for fatigue cracks. When I saw that shape, I was reminded of the failures of those airplanes back in the fifties. I think the manufacturer was De Havilland. They were the premier manufacturer of commercial airplanes immediately after World War II. The corners of their windows and doors weren't rounded enough, and they lost a few planes to failures from fatigue cracks forming at those locations. By the time that they solved the problem, other manufacturers had the best reputation for making passenger planes for commercial use. If the manufacturer of this knife made the venting circular or oval, I would like the venting much more. I don't have a problem with the appearance of the more rectangular holes except that they remind me of the De Havilland passenger plane failures. I guess 3Cr13 is easy to use in manufacturing. The lower carbon means that whatever heat treating is done is less dependent on getting quench and temper conditions exactly right. I'm guessing that they don't treat each knife individually but just treat the whole sheet and then stamp a bunch of knives from that sheet. I understand that choice in terms of making an inexpensive knife. On the other hand, going to a higher carbon stainless steel and treating each finished blade individually would make better knives. If one has a hunting of fishing camp somewhere, this knife wouldn't be a bad choice for storing in the cabin. Someone who broke into the cabin to steal would be disappointed if this knife was the best he could find. On the other hand, the knife would function well enough to do some work around the place. If one works for a company that is very picky about employees having weapons in their vehicles, the bright colors of the handle would make the HR morons less likely to see this knife as a weapon kept in an employee's vehicle. However, the employee would still have a useful knife in the trunk if something happened while driving to or from work. I see this knife in a pretty positive light. I'm not ready to buy one immediately, but I think it's pretty good for what it is.
Awesome choice on weapons Amanda again this week I have to go to with the Dark ops tactical knife for my top choice since it was designed by an Ohio police officer and I am from Ohio followed by the security flashlight has my second choice enjoyed the video again have an amazing weekend my friends. Kyle it is great to see you wearing your safety glasses but try not to hurt yourself too much.
I didn’t know you were from Ohio, Jason! Very cool! The Dark Ops Tactical Knife was definitely my favorite as well this week. Thanks for all your support, my friend! Have an awesome weekend!

@kombativ_com @kombativ_com thank you so much for commenting!! I'll totally go over, follow and look for that video. It's the sword on your right thats shaped like this
The Night Security Tactical Flashlight doesn't appeal to me as much. When I first took Krav Maga, one of the other students (and frequent training partner for me) was an ER nurse at one of the local hospitals. He was a big guy (6'2" tall, 350 pounds) who often found himself called when patients were thrashing and needed to be restrained. Several of us were talking one night about "tactical flashlights." He mentioned that he wasn't allowed to have a personal flashlight with even a moderately aggressive bevel design. Even though he wouldn't have used a flashlight anyway in restraining a patient, the hospital didn't allow anyone to carry anything that was seen as a weapon. He had a little flashlight made of aluminum (or maybe hard plastic). If he needed to hit someone with that flashlight, he could still do some damage with the smooth edges of the flashlight, but nothing about the flashlight made people think of a weapon. The problem with the Night Security Tactical Flashlight is that it seems to be the worst of both worlds. On one hand, I don't think I'd have time to unscrew the guard to expose the spikes if I were facing an attack. On the other hand, the presence of the spikes would make the flashlight look aggressive even if I never had time to unscrew the guard. If I defended myself but injured the attacker, a prosecution lawyer or an ambulance-chaser who wanted to sue me might use those spikes as a claim that I was looking for trouble. As something cool to use around the house, this flashlight fits. One could remove the guards and have spikes at each end at all times. Against a home invader, the look of the flashlight wouldn't matter as much. No one can say that I was looking for trouble after someone has opened my front door without permission and come after me in my house. Under those conditions, the spikes would be fun because they still look cool. One could also have the flashlight on and put the front down on a flat surface. The spikes would still let a good deal of light come around the edge of the lens. That would provide some light without putting the spot anywhere. I'm less enthralled with the strobing effect. I've had quite a few false alarms with motion detectors around my house. When I'm already full of adrenaline because a motion detector has gone off, turning on a flashlight to get an unexpected strobe effect causes another flush of adrenaline.
That extra flush of adrenaline is not pleasant.
Thank you, my friend!

Slap weapons like those are illegal in new York 😡
