    2 valuable tips: don't fill more than 70% of the drum (some models have a label indicating this level), even to only wash. More than that will not keep enough space to have the clothes properly rolling and this will affect washing and even more drying. Second tip: wash/dry the same kind of clothes. By example: wash/dry light clothes, underwear + t-shirts + socks, then in another round only the towels. Because the drying is made using a moisture sensor, which will measure the average moisture. If you mix, you'll have your underwear dried, but wet towels.

    I have a smaller LG all-in-one washer/dryer and while I was unsure when I bought it, it is now my favorite part of my apartment. It saves trips to the laundromat and I can program it to run while I'm at work. My only wish is that I could have gotten the bigger machine but the 2.3 cu ft was all that could fit in my space. I honestly don't think I will ever go back to a separate washer and dryer unit. :)

    Thank you for posting! Best and most up to date video for this product I have found so far. Just bought one and needed help with settings. Wish the app had better control functionality. But over all it fits great in my small condo and works well. Everyone kept telling me the tubs on combos are small. But this is as big as a regular washer. (I bought online they didn't have one in the stores to look at.) Trying to figure out the timed dry setting to do a tumble dry and what exactly a steam setting does.

    Great video, bought the 16k-8k model for my home in Mexico. Manual was in Spanish, translated the manual to Eng but was still useless. I've been trying to figure out how to do just a normal cycle, meaning assorted clothing, and may be a sheet set using the dryer function afterwards. Finally know how to do it and understand the use of the different cycles. OK now I know to do towels and heavy stuff in another load. It seems LG changes, the panel layout with every model, but this video was the closest to my panels and dials and with your explanations, it was easy to follow. Thank you so much for this video, I've had the unit for two weeks, and really wasn't using it properly… Will subscribe for future videos.

    I'm getting this and keeping my existing dryer. All the extra time this thing takes is because it's an energy efficient ventless dryer. So instead of wasting electricity heating up the air and dumping that air outside, it uses a refrigeration pump to make a hot side and a cold side. The hot side heats your clothes, causing the water to evaporate as steam, the steam gets circulated to the cold side, the cold causes the steam to condense into water and cold dry air which then gets heated back up again and blown across your clothes. All of the energy spent on heat gets picked back up on the cold side so the compressor doesn't have to work as hard. The energy is reclaimed. That's why this unit is so energy efficient. You just can't get that kind of efficiency when you're blowing all that energy out of a vent.
    Another reason it takes so long is because both washing and drying are happening in the same machine, you're not splitting the workload like you would with a separate washer and dryer.
    All of the extra time is due to the dryer functionality. If you're only doing one load, it won't matter that much, but with a 2nd machine your 2nd load can start washing while the first one is drying.
    My plan is simple, if I'm in a hurry to do multiple loads, I'll just use this unit to wash only, then use my 220v vented dryer.
    I'm mainly getting this for the convenience of not having to worry about transferring clothes over to the dryer. I always forget, and the clothes get musty. Plus the energy efficiency. I want to get my electricity usage below what my solar panels generate, or as low as possible before I spend way more money on more solar panels.

      Hello! Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you. Right now I've had it for almost two months. It has a steam freshcare setting. This allows you to quickly freshen up clothing using just filtered tap water. You have to fill the compartment with tap water first. You have to tell it how many garments you're putting in. When it's done running you have to take your clothes out right away to deter wrinkles from forming. I hope this helps!

    Curious as to why you opted for the all-in-one instead of a stackable compact pair with washer underneath and a ventless dryer on top. The obvious disadvantage of course of the all-in-one would be the speed, while the obvious advantages would be having it go straight through to the dry cycle and not having to wire 240v. Thanks for sharing with regard to the time it takes for a typical load from start to finish.

      I chose mine because I'm renting an apartment and there's no washer dryer hook up. So I ran hoses to the kitchen sink attaching to the faucet and draining into the sink. 110v works perfect since there's no 240v. Could not be happier as I can do laundry overnight and it's washed and dried. Vs driving to a launder mat and wasting a whole day there. Even better I didn't have to leave the house during the worst of covid.

    • @dblissmn
      @dblissmn 2 года назад

      @@kryptoart87 Looks like I'm going to have to stick with a compact. The LG Signature is brutally expensive, but very efficient on water because there's a heat pump instead of a condenser for the drying cycle. Only other option would be either expensive kitchen remodeling to accommodate separate compact washer and dryer, or the loss of some kitchen storage by simply removing a cabinet altogether.

    What is the difference between “cold” and “tap cold”? For cold does it actually chill the water? I currently only do wash with cold water so I’m also curious if you can change the water temps after choosing a setting.

    • @lightningbugvintage
      @lightningbugvintage  Год назад +1

      Tap cold is the temp of your water as it comes out of your tap. Temps may vary from house to house depending on how far your water lines are buried, etc. The cold setting mixes in hot water to reach a set temp. Hope that helps!

    • @pilotavery
      @pilotavery Год назад +1

      Tap cold is cold as the tap makes, cold is more like room temperature. So if it's below 68 degrees it adds a little hot water.

      We do still use it. I don't find that I have to clean the filter too often. A few times a year is all. I don't know if I would still recommend it. I know there are newer machines on the market like it that have a lint trap and this machine not having that really bothers me. That being said, if there were no other better options out there I would recommend it, hands down. At the end of the day it gets our laundry very clean.

I think dehumidifying instead of venting reduces the lint production. So does having front loading instead of top loading; less physical agitation of the clothes is needed to get them clean because they're being dunked in and out of the water instead. Got to make sure you clean that boot off after each wash though.

    I don’t think the machine has an actual sensor that detects moisture and determines how long to dry. My experience is that it chooses a dry time based on sensors that determine weight and/or volume. In a typical wash and dry cycle it decides how long the dry time will be at the start of the wash load before it has even begun the wash cycle.

    • @lightningbugvintage
      @lightningbugvintage  2 года назад +1

      I have not found confirmation that this particular LG model does have a sensor. Some of their dryers do. At least that is how they explain it: www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/understanding-sensor-dry-laundry-dryer-CT10000011-1428693529352

    I just got the same model, new. delivered at noon. By 7 pm, it had finished the first wash and dry cycle. Clothing was steaming, but halfway between wet and damp. Ran a second cycle dry only, by 1 am, clothing was again steaming and very hot, but mostly damp. Steam is coming out a port in the center back, condensing and dripping, as well as doing the same from the soap tray at the top front. Small quantities, but this seems unlikely to be correct. I cant imagine it is supposed to take over 13 hours to dry. Anyone have any ideas?

    • @lightningbugvintage
      @lightningbugvintage  Год назад

      My only thought is that you can't fill it as you would a normal washing machine. If you overfill it the clothes really don't get dry. Not to say you did that but that's all I can think of. If it isn't that then perhaps the machine is defective.

    How does it do with drying a comforter or with pet hair? How long does it take?

    • @lightningbugvintage
      @lightningbugvintage  2 года назад

      A comforter you would want to put in on its own but it does fine with them. The bedding setting takes longer than the normal setting and you can't have it dry. You have to tell it to just dry when it's done washing the bedding. Hopefully that makes sense. I'm not exactly sure how much longer it takes as I haven't timed it. With pet hair you just have to be more diligent with cleaning the seal inside the machine but items with pet hair on them come out perfectly clean.

    • @lightningbugvintage

      It's completely ventless. We didn't have to cut any holes for drying. Just stay on top of keeping your boot clean and you should be able to stay on top of the pet hair. I would wipe the area out every time you use it. Thanks for the comment!

      @@davewhiteman9532 I got you. I have a husky and golden retriever. There's a filter at the bottom left corner that catches the dog fur/hair so it doesn't clog up your drain pump. I have to clean that filter on every single wash since it's completely full on every single wash. And I bought a pedestal for the washer to stand on so that filter access door is higher up. And I could put a bucket under to catch any extra water.
      I'm going to be 100% honest with you. If you can put in a washer drier hook up and have a regular drier it's the better way to go. I have king size comforters that still have dog hair on them after washing and drying.
      I only have a 110v outlet and no vent to outside so this was the perfect solution for me. Again if you have an option to do a regular washer dryer I would.
