- For some people brands don't really matter - so what do you do when it comes to utes/bakkies? If you're in the market for one and don't want to spend big cash on the big names, would you consider a more affordable option? Just on the hill descent control issue - LDV investigated and found that it was an issue with the car we tested.
Of course it was 😂
@@v18leo Well said.
Communism decent control back working again after consultation with the party
Wonder how the response on that would have been if you'd bought one and found that fault?
@@rais1953 they investigated and found that it was an issue with the car you bought.
Hey Paul. Great reviews as always. Was wondering if you could do a review on LDV D90 as it looks like a great offering under $40k. Cheers.
Great review on this vehicle and I agree its missing some important features that I actually have with my T60 Luxe 2020. Glad I bought my model before the design and features were changed. Cheers Errol
Amasing ute, i bought one and it has exceeded my expectations. Comfortable, powerful and safe. Nothing to complain about.
Was your last vehicle a billy cart ?
Chinease
Still happy with it? Drove some brand name utes today, crazy money and very underwhelming.
Anyone who thinks that this Chinese junk is good has never owned a decent vehicle 😄😁
Reeee ree ree not a Holden or Ford a few decades later, Ree ree ree not a Toyota. One day we'll be comparing African or Indian made to Chinese only snobs, and the cycle goes on and on.
Half expected that console lid to come off in your hand when you were shaking it 😄
Experience with LDV: first dealership refuses a test drive unless I’m buying one! Second dealership refuses point blank to sell me the car that’s for sales on their website (and still is!) I decided after test driving to make the silly decision to lay a deposit, hands down they could not be any worse for customer service! Got my deposit back and getting me new triton this week!
thats just a particular dealer issue. i just walked in ldv dealer at kingswood and was able to test drive one straightaway.
Love the way you structure your vids, hope to see a 2022 Kia sportage review and a 2022 Lexus nx review soon
Keep up the great work
Agreed. CE's videos are easy to follow, and the timestamps in the description are a huge help.
One thing I've learned about LDV is that all the negative review's come from people who don't own them or never driven one 😂
💯
I love my t60 max and I’ve had Hilux ranger, they given me more trouble then my t60. The t60 hasn’t let me down not once most ppl just talking out of there arse
I have 3 ldv vans and i went to go and do a deal on a ute for myself. After test driving trition and cannon i drove top spec ldv and it was the biggest heap of garbage ive driven compared to its competitors
100% . I wouldn't listen to this guy one bit. I watched his comparison video with other big brands: Very biased.
Another detailed review. Thank you. So glad to see your subscribers growing so quickly. Well deserved. Just one question, when you review the sound systems, are you able to give a little detail i.e. tinny, not enough speakers, etc. Music/radio is so important when driving and a little more detail helps compare to other cars.
2022 Ldv lux was my first car doing great so far he described this truck perfectly in every aspect
Love your reviews. I take delivery of my new t60 in 5weeks. I’ll be towing a 2ton trailer for work so I will revisit site and post my opinion. Love the extra torque and infotainment screen.
Any chance u got black one?
Hey Andrew, how is she holding up
I still don’t have it yet. Frustrating!
@@ziggymaria1 did you get it now? if so please send ur review i was also thinking of buying one 😂
So .... How did it do towing?
Hi, Paul, I think you should bring to people's attention is the lack of quality. There was a case recently where a T60 rusted because it was parked at a surf club in QLD and the company said that they were not made to do that! Upon a detailed inspection, it was rusting from the welded joints in the body shell as well as the flat surfaces under the paint. In court, the judge actually commented that in his opinion they were made of inferior materials. Personally, I think Chinese cars have a long way to go but unfortunately most motoring journos are not telling the punters this sort of issue. Keep up the great work.
I didn’t know that….do they think it was just a bad one or pretty representative of the model ?
LDV said not suitable for the coast area, yet thats where the dealer is that sells these cars.
The guy drove the vehicle into the sea water on numerous occasions, fried the electricals (which was part of the claim) and got a lot of 'Surface rust" on the vehicle. My supposition from reading the court documents, A lot of "opinion" and no facts.
@@cathmarross8838 dont let the facts get in the way of a good story though. How are people going to justify spending $70K on a ranger/hilux otherwise.
I took one for a test drive after your review and it was 10x better than I was expecting. Yes it has radio and Android, tailgate was no heavier than hilux, reversing camera was fine, and the built quality is about the same as a BT50.
Been a D90 owner for nearly 2 1/2 years, same engine and gearbox and its a fantastic pairing, got an Elite Drive power module making it 555NM and this really improved the 80-120km time, D90 best 7 seater for 3rd row space!
Whats the rear wheel kw results on the bi turbo?
@stefanburek sorry don't have those stats however 80-120km/hr pass about 2 seconds quicker which was one of the real life most noticeable performance increases
Does LDV still use low quality materials when making the T60? That said, as long as you park your T60 at least 5km away from the beach, you should be OK.
A pick up is just a work tool…I’d go with the cheapest cuz you aren’t gonna care as much when you inevitably dent, scratch, dirty and break it
Load of shit mate had mine for 2 years and I live 3 mins away from the beach done heaps of river crossings in it and it has never let me down
Ok at the price .... Probably come out better buying cost to sell or trade cost % wise over 5 to 7 years than you would with most of the other stupidly exensive brands VW in particular .
@@Tomoyo0827 but you also want the Ute to last more than 3 years. in these the chassy will rust out in 3 years if you park it near the beach. I’ve owned a Honda Accord that was parked at the beach it’s whole life for 15 years, it only ever had minimal and normal surface rust
That’s because Honda actually had quality control unlike the awful ldv
I like when pickups do not have side rails because It impacts the ground clereance and often do not protect the sides at all.I think it is up to the user to add those for their specific needs (off-road protection or ease to jump into the car or nothing at all)
Won’t matter on this you’d be lucky if it gets over a speed bump
@@W3TFART HAha true
they are called side steps for a reason... they are steps on the side of your car. No one ever said they are car protection.
Thry are pretty cheap to buy aftermarket anyway.
That’s why you raise it
Someone needs to do a cheap ute showdown comparison between the SsangYong, GWM and LDV please!
great review, thanks, it really really helps!
Great review Thank You, Just been got one as a work car, base model T60 Max so doesn't get the locking rear diff but ill be keen to see how it goes up Stockton Beach soon and thru the Watagans. For all those about to make comments about the beach ! it goes back in 2yr/40 or 3yr/60 depending on availability of my next choice, so i won't need to care about the rust ! Just you watch out at the Auctions. Lol
My 2021 t60 pro has been fantastic I can’t fault it paid 30k for it been great only thing I had problems with was my head light were set to high evry one thought I had my high beam on once we lowered them no more people flashing me it pulled a tandem trailer with my hr holden on it like it wasn’t ther I’m happy with it and will do me fine for what I do
Thumbs up for having a HR! :)
Great video mate, been waiting for this to drop compared to the Cannon.. think I will go cannon..
Only thing I see that is better on the LDV is power. On all the other things Cannon is waaay better, the quality, safety offering.
@@italoluras ya I agree, your getting much more value and better warranty on the Cannon.
I would go the triton 10 years warranty 🔥🔥🔥
Only retains 10 years if you take it back to Mitsubishi for all the servicing, otherwise it's 7.
Actually only 5yrs
No power tho. And still breaks as often as a ranger.
Think the LDV is the winner here
@@Twopiratesadventures Musso blows LDV out the bloody water by a mile
Mitzi warranty only covers injectors, pumps and stuff for 100000 kms, that’s the bits that fail.
The black trim falling off the tailgate just about sums it all up, doesn't it?
Yes.
we dont need to watch more to find out about quality after 4:02 lol
Would like to think that cheap plastic falling off cars was just an issue for cheap Chinese cars but unfortunately I've seen it on most brands after working at various dealerships over the years.
@@DC_MA like early ba/bf interior
Some Australian made and other European cars have cheap and flimsy parts as well. I wouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
Really good review. Liked how you picked up on the body twist with the driver's door not fully closing.
Hi Paul, I've watched most of your reviews and have enjoyed them and have never made a comment however this one I haven't enjoyed - mate this is the cheapest Ute available anywhere and should be reviewed accordingly, and not negatively! Just saying! Regards, Gavin B
Seeing alot of these on the road now (early 2023).
They look quite good compared to the other Chinese 4x4s
I've had my ldv for over a year now never skipped a beat also awesome off road never had a problem the only thing it lack in is throttle control and under powered but easly fixed with a quick tune and a i drive

Underpowered?? You need a Ranger Raptor then, coz this is more powerful than than anything else
So if you spin the tyres the car will automatically activate the diff locker?

My 2020 LDV T60 Luxe is great, No problems, seems to be better equipped than the new model.
How is ldv going?
Looking to buy T60max
Hi Paul I would love it if you could review the Mahindra pickup
I wonder how they will go designing bull bars for this with the low headlights.
G’Day Paul when your reviewing Dual can utes the loading area you call a tray it’s actually called a tub and a tray is what the Toyota Landcruiser 79 series comes with from Toyota.
Cheers
Seb
Hey Seb.
Who cares? I think everyone knows what he is talking about. You could also refer to them as a "bed" since a "tub" should be intergrated into the vehicle like on a Commodore ute.
Hi Paul, it is certainly an improvement on the previous model. In your opinion if I am only after a everyday drive and an occasional beach run is the LDV or Musso a better choice? The Musso seems a more refined vehicle with more features but the LDV might be a more capable rig now?
Don’t do it. These are rubbish. Seriously go test the GWM canon X. Worlds apart. Ride comfort and technology
They are both rubbish
I have had my 2021 t60 for 6 mnths now and the car is great goes good in off road conditions and plenty of space for the kids. However the audio/connectivity sucks, and the paint job is very average. Paid for paint protection but it does nothing. But I'm happy nothing broken yet and the price was great.
That front fascia was probably what the next Hilux facelift would have looked like....who gave out the password to toyota design team's hard drive?
I would choose musso ute everytime over ldv. Lots of owner forums and reports of rust issues in ldv Ute's even one famous guy that took ateco/ldv to court.
Absolutely mate
EW I'd skip both, buy something used that's half decent
@@LifeOfTuners mate trouble is the used market is screwed right now, for anything half decent you're paying new car price, so you can either go $60K plus on a decent brand or look at these alternatives. I'd love a 4x4 to take my boys away camping etc and being a 1 income household dont want to spend over $40K. So do I buy something will 200,000km+ or look at chinese?
Rust was a first year model, been 5 years of R and D since then. Seems like it was just a bad batch of cars. Otherwise every car would have it.
Paul, can you please do one of your reviews on the LDV D90 please?!
What I always wanted was a single cab ute with an auto box . You can get them in lots of countries but not the United Kingdom. I would also like to see an auto on the cheapest 2wd single cab ute as well . I have trouble walking as I had polio as a child and have to use a Volvo V70 estate to carry 8 x 4 and other building materials. A Ute is ideal for me .
The 56 unread txt messages on the apple car play had me laughing 😂
Hope it now has improved rust protection.
Spot on, I watched the John Cadogan video too.

Would love to see you test a LDV D90
That's going to be a pain fitting a bull bar with the headlight cluster integrated on the bumper!
Could u please do a review of the LDV D90
Owned T60 Luxe four four years. One of the first ones without surround cameras. Over 150k km on the clock. Not garaged and no rust to be seen. Had issue with BCM at about 70k km. Was never fixed correctly but putting that down to dealer incompetence. Must take it back sometime. Had to change shocks at about 120k km. I am not a car prude and it gets serviced when I feel it needs a service, not when it tells me. Paid about 30k for it new and very happy with it. Yeah I could have gone for a Ranger for twice as much and without as much kit in it. All in all very happy. In fact I won’t be trading it in for the T60 Max because it is still too good. LDV may have caused themselves a few issues there.
this means nothing. How you use your car can and most likely is very different from how other people will use them. These things are workhorses... for all we know, your car never actually sees any real hard work.
@@Bamwich odd comment. Of course it means something. It is a real world experience with a vehicle that is being reviewed. Obviously almost everyone uses their vehicles differently and to suggest a one size fits all review is a nonsense. My comment relates to my experience with the vehicle, that is all. @@andrewthornley5172 so you posted a comment for yourself? What was the point in that?
Sorry mate, I just get sick of watching these “reviews” that are more like someone reading the brochure and then people commenting something like ‘I’ve done 200,00km and haven’t had any issues”.
@@Bamwich Why do you keep watching them then?
@@talay2005 isn’t that the question. If I could somehow tell before watching them, it would be handy.

Good review of a not so good car. The old addage still rings true - you get what you pay for.
Can't really attest to its off-road ability, as I haven't taken my Pro much off the formed roads. What I did notice though was it's ability to tow was excellent. I have cruised round a farm in it and it handled that fine.
Hey Paul, Thanks for the great reviews. Can you also please review LDV D90 7 seater? Struggling to find good review for D90 petrol or diesel. If you have one then please point the video link in the comments section below 😂
There are mixed opinions by the people but would love to see a review from you as it makes more sense to me when I go through your videos. Thank you.
Wonder how well that diff lock and 4wd will handle engaging while wheels slipping in long term or harsher conditions
the old eaton diff locks. harsh but effective.
Does it rust like the previous model?
The Cannon seems a lot more sorted and resolved. Really the only reason you would look at the T60 is probably the power but there seem to be a multitude of other compromises. I've had a G10 van for 5 years and its served me well with no real issues as all.
It really seems LDV missed the mark with this update however given a whole new generation of utes is around the corner. I prefer the non chrome front treatment we are getting compared to the t90 version however that tailgate is terrible. Lack of safety is not great and I just don't know why the Chinese can't get tech right when they make it for everyone else lol.
Hey mate, We own both the ldv t60 and the cannon. The things I dislike about the cannon is there is only a 4low option, has a tinny sound system, hear more road noise then the t60. Don't get me wrong though I do love both of them
I think give it 5yrs and Chinese cars will be pretty good and competitive.
Can you do a detailed of the LDV D90 thanks Paul
That engine makes so much more power from the previous version and 100nm ahead of GWM Cannon X

Hi Paul, can you guys test out the ldv d90 diesel?
Yes. I agree. I'm surprised they don't have one already.
Got mine recently and I have noted it is tinny/flex in doors/panels. It is nicely set up and ride is fantastic. I have had a Triton and two Amaroks previously. T60 matches them in many areas.

Hey Paul, Is it worth going for. What is your final say.
Looks better that the old model, hate to have to fit a bullbar to it 😂
Top car and my favourite so far just done 25 k’s on mine mind you I have had a hilux, amarok,Colorado and ranger in the past and the Colorado sports cat was a close second fav but when you spend 38,500 instead of 60 to 70 plus more I’ve gotta say a car is car and all cars have there fair share of breakdowns regardless of there cost and where there made so the moral of this write is don’t go on the price or where it’s made and rock on 🤙🤟🤘
I had to stop 2 minutes in. The headlights. A complicated job to fit a bull bar and improve the approach angle, crikey. I couldn't live with that harsh diff lock. I don't understand why they would release a car with all it's problems that need ironing out.
Very nearly got sucked into getting one of these before getting the new hilux in nz. I can't begin to explain how bad the ldv dealerships are in South Auckland nz they actually swore at me on the phone. I think that's part of the reason they are so cheap I wouldn't think there would be any customer support after purchasing one of these. Toyota nz on the other hand I couldn't fault. and with 5 years free services etc. Couldn't be happier with the ute itself either
Thats unfortunate, nothing worse then a rude dealership. The ldv t60 is not a bad ute in itself. Ive got one and love mine. For what its worth its decent. But enjoy your hilux. If I could afforrd one id buy a hilux.

Dont waste your time.....
Lipstick on a Pig?
Yup, looks good for the money. And that’s the part most people overlook…for the money. Then again, I drive a x350D which I’m pretty sure is the most hated vehicle with the Holden/Ford/Isuzu brigade
And more rust, painted black!😀
Im buying the T60pro to tow my 2 tonne boat. As for AEB and lane departures etc I hate all that stuff. My work vehicle BT50 has all that and I have to disable it all every time I start the BT50.
How much more to get a bull bar on it?
So would you buy this or a Ssangyong musso? For me the Musso still far better option than this.
I own a 2019 Musso and it's been an absolute trooper. I have done over 80,000km and it's never missed a beat. I test drove a T60, and thought it was terrible.
Is the white Musso in the background coming up soon. Is it possible to test a Musso with the suspension upgrade and better tyres it will be cheaper than most other dual cab Ute's,but with what everyone says it lacks. Just a thought. I like your reviews
Can you review LDV D90 Diesel Please ?
As the gearbox is a ZF ,is the engine outsourced or LDV desig and build?
Engine is designed and built by LDV/SAIC in-house.
It’s a GM-SAIC jointly-developed engine
So have they improved on that model with the latest model?
A little, mostly adding different rubber and cosmetic changes like roof rails, sailplanes, sports bars, 19" wheels (improvement?), sexy steering wheel and flares. The new D90 is coming out with a further tuned version of this engine. More power and torque from the 2.0L.
headlights in the bumper bar....Shows they still don't fully understand the local marketplace where many want to fit bullbars. Going to make designing a suitable bullbar hard and the end result will look odd.
Can you review the MG extender
What about the T90 ?
Favourite word -"segment'"
Didn’t they loose in court, re vehicle quality? Court found it was made from substandard materials 🧐. Why take the chance?
7 year warranty + that was the first series of the old model. I can find you a shit load of early model Ute problems with Ford/Nissan..
Hope other makers offer 17 inch rims as option
Can you guys review the D90
If you're looking at the D90....I'd go the Ssangyong Rexton instead. Basically the same price and great Korean quality 😉 Test drive both and go from there.
Modern driving assistance tech is stupid. I like that I'm not paying extra to install a monitoring system and a light on my mirrors. I know how to drive and I can check my blind spot for free by turning my head which comes with a factory installed flexible neck. I also like that my car won't try to override my steering decisions. My car is dumb and cannot make decisions as well as I can. The lack of these features is a big plus for me. the enthusiasm for tech for the sake of tech when it adds nothing and is often detrimental is mind blowing to me.
Hows a guy supposed to fit a bull bar to that thing if the headlights are way down there? I guess some integration into the bull bar would be in order but id say that would make the ldv even uglier🥴
Have you done any review on LDV D90
Why spend more on a ute?
Hi guys I have driven one for 1yr towing a trailer for a mowing business 8x5 with a rideon etc. I flogged it the entire year apart from 7 trips to the dealership to fix electrical which were cruise control no working the screen seized, throttle stopped working, radio worked when it wanted to, buttons on steering wheel worked when they wanted to. when the burner came on it for the soot it put fumes into the cab they had to put a new seal in the burner and exhaust was not done properly at build. Personally I would never buy one glad i had the chance to drive it before I bought. Also the acceleration off the mark is shocking the lag is soooo bad had a idrive installed did not do anything for the lag intact I would have to say is extremely dangerous you really have to make sure the cars your pulling out infront of are seriously along way down the road. I have 2 other people I know that have bought these for themselves and all have the same issue.
Can you please do the d90 to please
Mentioning the Mitsubishi Triton in the same sentence as the GWM, LDV and the SSangyong Musso is a real slap in the face for Mitsubishi. Or a great marketing strategy, to show case what great value for money the Triton is. Resale and durability.
I think you need to do some research on the Ssangyong. Not in the same category as the Chinese vehicles. Not that I’m saying you’re wrong about the Triton as it’s a great car.
