Good review , Thanks Matt. I owned a Mega Tub Luxe for 18 months. Great car, had to get rid of it due to selling the family home and buying a unit. The underground basement parking was hell, so it had to go. I am now thinking about a 2023 Luxe T60,,, shorter version than the mega tub of course. I really liked the LDV Luxe , I did a lot of country driving, 400 ks plus round trip and it never missed a beat. My son owns a 2022 Mazda BT 50 . I have driven this quite a few times and really there is not much difference between both the Mazda and The T60 LUXE . The big difference is of course the price. I dont think there will ever be a better buy than the T60 Luxe. It looks great and I will be arranging to negotiate for the good looking orange version . Thanks and once again great review .
I’ve got a T60 Luxe and installed a EVC unit which gives great balance to the throttle control. I’ve got the sail plane and hard top lid on my tray which gives a bit more weight to the rear axle. Love this truck better thank my Great Wall.
I have a work T60. Horrible. I find there is a delay in acceleration which can be dangerous at roundabouts and when pulling onto busy roads. I find I have to modify my driving style to suit this issue. Rough as guts on the road. I also gave up on the android connection after I had to download their app to use it. First world problem, I know, but you shouldn't need to download an app these days to plug your phone in. BUT I do like the tail gate assist! Good review. Good job.
It’s a great looking Ute and in that blue with the sailplane on the back really looks the goods. Like anything i think half the problem is shaking off the Chinese car stigma. In saying that Hyundai and Kia had the same issues many years ago and now put out some of the best looking performance hatches and sedans which have taken a huge chunk of sales from Honda, Toyota and the like. I would certainly consider that Ute as my next car for sure. Great honest review.
I was SO close to signing on the line for one of these, but pulled out because it didnt sit right. Its not a terrible vehicle, its good as a fleet cheapo, but its just not worth the price they charge for it personally... Doesnt even have android auto. Dealer wouldn't go lower than $40k for a pro, handled well, but the interior was way too similar to my Girlfriend's Hyundai Venue and felt just as cheapwhich, the venue was half the price. People have also been having issues with LDV, so gut told me nope... Test drove the Cannons, and you get way more for the same money. Looking at the new Triton, Im more inclined to that now if the price is right. But GWM have been impressing me the most. Keen to wait and check out the 2024 model Cannon and Tank 400.
@jimbokilo, I've got a 2020( that I've owned since new) Triton on which the Welsh plug has already been repaired twice by Mitsubishi and it's just about gone again so I personally wouldn't buy another one. Further to that, you've got to spend more on a Triton to get the same features as a Cannon X
Hmmmm the Scorpio v 300, should be a fun test if you take them off road, I would would say that right off the bat the Scorpio is the better of the two all round save for the awful turbo diesel it's turbo lag as the 300 has turbo petrol, but either way it's gonna be a close result. Good to you that you are branching out to doing compatriots tests Matt.

@@willross7121 Thanks for your input!! I would definitely have considered the Musso, but I want a manual transmission car, and the T60 is literally the only car that I’ve found that comes in manual in a top of the range model/variant, so, it’s pretty much my only option for a new car 🤷🏻♀️
I actually like the gwm xrs, and the cannon x, but the power and transmission in the LDV is better so I’m going with the LDV luxe for that reason, I’ll let u know how I go, how’s your gwm so far you happy with it?

The thing that caught my eye was the positioning of the 4WD selector up front next to were your hand may be fumbling for glasses or phone etc. You wouldn't want to knock the dial into or partly 4WD while in motion, yeah I know the chances are remote but still would be better position behind the gear selector imo .. Any news on when the new Musso is arriving, thought it was October . ? .. Cheers
gees Matt I just don't know, I have heard horror stories of Ateco (distributor) basically being scumbags and voiding warranty for petty things and then owners having to do legal options like Fair Trading or further action like NCAT, we know of at least 1 person in Sth Est Queensland who took Ateco to the Queensland version of Admin Tribunal and won that case so yeah it's a risk to purchase on that alone. If you are in this segment then I suggest the Triton or Navara as the baseline minimum, if you really must then look at the Musso or the Cannon (and they both have their own issues, but guess what? all vehicles do).
Mega tube gets a 1850kg rated rear axle (up from 1720-1730kg for the Pro) but then has a payload reduced to 730kg (from 925-935kg). That's not much of a payload, including people. Mega tub has a GVM of 2,900kg and the Pro 3,050kg. So with the Mega Tub you get a longer vehicle and tray with higher rated axles to carry a smaller payload with a lower GVM and lower GCM Ok, got it.

You forgot to mention the heated seats in the Luxe model, which is controlled via the head unit. Just an extra note that annoys my wife the volume control is via the head unit. However, the driver has volume on the steering wheel. Personally, I don't think it is an issue 😂
I'm considering the megatub & just get the rear suspension upgraded . It couldnt be that difficult to do by a suspension company . The extra space os still valuable realestate

I was contemplating getting one of these because my brother bought one and likes it however, I have to agree with you Matt, I think the Cannon X represents better value. This is especially true if you look into LDV's warranty which is split between Manufacturer and Dealer. The latter does not give the same comprehensive cover as the former with dollar value limits on repairs they will cover. Unsurprisingly, you can "upgrade" the warranty with the dealer for significantly higher cost.... Deal breaker for me I'm afraid. Not to mention no Android Auto support at all...wtf LDV, it's 2023.
i have a 2023 LDV g10+van personal use its the 2L single turbo 8 speed auto and around town and a few highway kms say 40 kms it tells me I'm getting 7.5 L to the 100km but only camping gear in the back
May I suggest explaining where the max power and torque is delivered within the "curve" when discussing engine output? Engine output figures without this information is rather useless, particularly with 4x4 vehicles. Thanks for the content
Is the steering wheel centred for you ? So when you drive straight jts dead straight in three middle or do you have to have it slightly to the right or left to keep it straight because mines not ?
Good review! Got to say I love all the safety features in the family SUV, did want less in the ute though and the power of the LDV made it for me! Guess the dealership didn’t let you take it for a spin offroad, they’re a fair bit of fun! 😁
Great review, however the manual is terrible. Very 'notchy' tight gates and way to much travel in the cluth.. very easy to stall, particularly with the inconsistent slight power lag. Caught me out a couple of times now, stranded in the middle of an intersection.
Rubbish the spare wheel is smaller like a donut wheel, completely impractical for a daily worker, 730 kg on a max tub means it can't carry a full 1000 L water cube😂. Pathetic my old 88 Hilux is a 1 tonne. There are prissy meant for contractors who never touch tools or haul supplies.
Just remember that payload is every thing you put on that vehicle including fuel. A cab chassis 1tonne vehicle is rated for cab chassis, subtract tray weight, driver, passenger,, fuel, and that's what you can put in the tray, minus the weight of the cube as well. So about 500kg when you subtract every thing else.
Hey folks I work in a car yard and drive a tonne of different cars all the time. I just want to warn you all, that the T60 is made to “look” nice but it’s trash. The engines feel like they came out of my dads tractor and they just slapped a turbo on it. And the quality of the interior is just weak all round. I have yet to drive a Chinese vehicle which has made me say “this is actually good” they have all been cheap trash that is made to look nice but don’t last. We have had sooo many of these Chinese utes come back at around 40-60000kms and blokes just trading them in to get a hilux, bt-50, navara or ranger. Most of them say the same thing, it’s gutless and made on the cheap. Save up a little longer and buy something that will last ladies and gentlemen.
Just brought the Luxe 2024 model picking it up next week after the accessories have been put on like the snorkel and bullbar

Upgrading the rear suspension, I can't imagine would be that difficult , if you needed to carry load in the megatub

Ive owned a 23 luxe model done about 18000kms and i use it for work and offroading thrash it and it hasnt missed once
