I have ipod classic and Windows 8. Mucking about with my iTunes/media/music folders I managed to delete my library (3300 songs). I had previously saved 2800 to hard drive but that still left me 500 short. This guide was superb and excellently presented. I also had F49 and have now got my library back (although I will have to rate them all again, but that is a small price to pay). A big thank you.

mine comes up as digital camera when i unhide the folders. I also don't have ipod_controls, it just comes up with internal storage. Then when i click on that, there's a folder called DCIM and then 800AAAAA. Inside that folder is all my pictures but no music. PLEASE HELP

oh the irony. i tried to do this as i have a new computer and don't have access to all the CD's where my songs are. this video is as old as it is and yet worked perfectly for me. if only apple were this simple in fixing iTunes current screen-wrap issue
Forgot to add a good tip - if you have a lot of folders select all of them at once, right click, remove hidden tick, and press ok and ok again.. this much quicker than selecting F files 1 by 1 ... Once you done that go into your itunes and add folder like on the tutorial but instead of selecting one F file, select them all and click ok, this will import all your music back to itunes in one go... took me less than 10 minutes to do all of this.. hope this helps speed things up :)

Thank you for this. I was struggling hardcore with this for a couple hours before I decided to try a tutorial. The only problem is that now iTunes doesn't want to sync the music that was already on my before I combined what was on my iPod. Oh well. That I can replace.

I don't have any folders but my pictures. I clicked the show hidden and nothing happened. My 3 year old was playing with it and put on the restrictions option and so I can't even get to the itunes app on my pod. would that have something to do with it?

My Ipod doesn't come up in file explorer. I plug it in and a message pops up saying sleep and charge is ready. I looked in my control panel clicked on Hardware and Sound then went to view devices and printers. I found it there so I clicked on it and at the bottom it had model, category, then it had status: Needs troubleshooting and it had status again but this one said status: Driver error. I don't know what any of that means. How do I fix it? thank you
When I open my ipod drive, it doesnt show calendar, notes and that stuff, all i get is storage, wich lead to a folder called DCIM, wich are picture. Ever heard of that problem, and how to get to the files i want?
Thats all very well, but all my music is organised by folders, I don't want two of each song on my hard drive, as that would be ridiculous due to the amount of music I have. There are programs like CopyTrans, that can be aquired free, but they are all outdated, plus copying files to pc and not directly to itunes makes duplicates also, so I basically have no choice but to wipe the ipod, am I correct ? Nowhere I look can I find a way to merge the libraries, where it automatically transfers the music and leaves the stuff already in itunes. Its a sad day for a large number of songs.

@nickcomputerfix i did this for 6000 songs but some albums aren't showing up, some dont have album art and some are still called ABCXYZ instead of their real name, some albums aren't even showing up but theyre there on my ipod any help???
Update tried it exactly your way and same result songs with a four letter random title now i have all 57 gb of music on a external drive from my ipod classic which i sold but in the future if i bought a new one could i just add it all back on and it read correctly?

Hi nick question will this keep from songs coming up as a four letter title like DOJK etc. I did this but not quite the method you used and got like half my songs reading as a miss title song i'm going to try this and see if it works also if it doesn't can i reverse the way i copied the songs from my ipod to the computer and place them back on the ipod?

Why doesn't iTunes offer this automatically. This takes too long.
When I click my ipod drive, the only file that comes up is the DCIM folder. Even after I checked mark the show hidden folders. What do I do??
