I like this performance a lot. I listened to all performances of this Romance published on You Tube by all great maestros of the violin and guess what... I found this teenager performance a most appealing! As much she is not orderly as some scholars rushed to say, her performance is really beautiful, perhaps because she is only one to really could feel it and play "con amore"
Before being critical do mind Vanessa was so young at that time. A violinist does not JUMP to outstanding later player, she has worked hard and is now very very good

For all those who like to critique, but have not gone as far as she had. I would like to say that how boring if one play exactly like the master or paint the same way, without putting your own style into it, then you are just so boring and only a perfect copy cat. Let me ask you one simple question, how many singers have sung the national anthem the same way.

she is a popstar now and so what ? I like pure classical violin music and dont like nowadays pop ,but i like her for what she did in the past. I like this a lot. "Red Hot" is good for electic violin, i just dont like pop,techno-mixed pieces. for explain "Red Hot" is still good but no match for masterpiece like this one.
Nice playing in most respects, but the musicality is lacking in that it sounds amateurish. A very beautiful piece has been chopped up by short uneven phrasing and strangely tapered sustained notes. Not only does it look, but sounds pretty stiff

She makes a nice tone, and she plays well in tune. But her phrasing is that of an amateur, and her tempo in relation to the orchestra is horrible. This is so evident in this famous composition that great violinists made one of the most enjoyable pieces for the violin.
