This piece is almost three hundred years old, music is timeless. We are so lucky that someone decided to keep his music safe in an archive for future generations or we would have never heard this. Just think of all the music and speeches we haven’t heard until recording came into fruition. We are so much luckier than we know to live in the twenty first century.

I cannot imagine the experience of being present in a theater or music hall in the 16th century and hearing music such as this. It must have been otherworldly.
Vivaldi had to be the equivalent, in his time, of the heavy metal or hard rock virtuoso of our time. Bach was kind of more elevated, compositionally, more like The Beatles. Vivaldi was Eddie Van Halen or Metallica, or something. He wasn't ONLY that, of course, he could also do sublime. But I don't think anybody's music of his time 'went for it' and purely rocked out like he did. I'd love to see how audiences reacted when this stuff was debuted. I picture head-banging by dudes, girls fainting. Undergarments being thrown on stage?
Such as the first movement (from L'Estro Armonico) of the G Minor concerto for 2 violins and cello. Sounds pretty much dark metal to me. ruclips.net/video/XfgO_BqErWY/видео.html
Imagine seeing this live in the time when there was no electricity or computer generated music. In the time when this was a new release, and vivaldi is the lead violinist in this first public performance. It must have changed the life of every single person in the room. 3/28/21 edit: Wow I come back to this and I'm surprised this blew up. Anyway, I took violin lessons but stopped because it was frustratingly difficult, but beautiful, nonetheless. Much respect for these people who must've gone through a lot behind all that beautiful playing!
You're more right than you think. I've never heard a perfect performance of the song, and there's a lot of variance in the way different orchestras play it. This is one of the better recordings but still has flaws. Can't really imagine what Vivaldi's version sounded like.
Until Mahler (Vienna, Austria) in 1880, concerts were quite noisy. People went to drink and eat and talk. Mahler introduced the complete silence policy in concerts as we know and behave today. I am not sure most people in this era were awake about the huge creativity they were exposed to then.
This piece of audio is the pinnacle of human culture. Even the faults, where a little girl screams and a man coughs are right in place. Shows imperfection - and when the girl screams one of the members of orchestra smiles. It is just... perfect.
I didn't understand before how people pick their favourite version of a classical piece, it's played the same way by everyone, isn't it? Then I realized it's never the same. This is my favourite for many many years now. The passion, the feelings, the joy just can't get beaten by anyone. Perfect.

@@kronoscamron7412 true, but this is very similar to Nigel Kennedy's performance with the London Symphony Orchestra three decades ago that really popularized the Four Seasons with previous non-classical listeners. I'd say it's about equal to Sirena Huang's 2010 performance when she was only about 16. Unfortunately that vid seems to have been scrubbed from RUclips and it was spectacular. If anyone has a link please ping me. It was at the Daniel Pearl Memorial Concert. My life will not be complete unless I get to see that again.
This is by far the best performance of this masterpiece. I am a fan of Vivaldi's work and I can't find any other performance or recording of this masterpiece that matches the emotion, beauty and perfection delivered on this one. This one should be the official recording for this masterpiece. Kudos to Mari Samuelsen and her band mates for this, and thank you. If it was on blu-ray or any other high quality format I'd definitely buy it.
I do the same with Mendelssohn's violin concerto. Isn't it wonderful that music can have that power? And yes, interrupting classical music is sacrilege.
I can honestly say this version is borderline perfection, the emotions it stirs in me are unreal. I listen to Mari playing this weekly. Absolutely spectacular, the passion in her face show how much she felt it and that is conveyed in the video. Bravo
It is not perfect because there is a mistake at minute 9:52. What's more, the person behind Mari notices it. Watch his expression, in his eyes, in that quick look that says "Hey, what happened there?"
I've listened to a lot of performances of the 4 seasons, but I always come back to mari samuelsen, she just gives her life to the music and I think nobody on hearth can play the 4 seasons like her

8:50 See her eyes go across to the first violin, it’s all under control. This is such a beautiful piece and I must say I’ve listen to this video for possibly the past 10 years
I think about that every day but what really blasts my mind is how, how the composers did these works.. without any kind of computer, audio recorders, just a bag full of passion, ofc my eyes are starting to tear, i just can't absorb all the good matter i am listening to.
Vivaldi was an ordained priest, a born again man of God who wrote this music for his Creator. Money and fame means little to a man of this character. He is indeed in Heaven with God and very much aware of the gift he was given and the Grace that allowed him to share it with us.
Outstanding. Simply outstanding. Vivaldi is why I fell in love with classical music in my advanced years. Was always a Prog Rock fan and a Rock'n Roller. I still am, but Vivaldi and this piece in particular got me turned on to classical. How could it not!? And what a performance! I've got this bookmarked and NEVER get tired of hearing. Exceptional! Outstanding! Beautiful!
I’ve always listened to classical music as background music for stress relief, concentration, etc, but since hearing your work for the first time I am captivated and moved by this genre. Your mastery and style evokes every emotion in a capsule of time. Then I play it again and again. Thank you for perfecting your craft, and playing with your whole being.
Can't count how many times I've watched this video. It's by far my favorite performance of Summer and by now, thanks to you, one of my favorite pieces of all time. Thank you so much for this Mari
It amazes me that half of the violinists behind Mari weren't aware that she was going to play ALL the portions of Summer. Thay didn't realize she wasn't there for just the Storm part, which is probably the most well-known and astounding. Great commentary on Vivaldi admirers.
I can't count anymore how many times I've watched this video, i always feel the passion and the emotion that i still clap my hands just what the audience did in the end. Superb performance 👏🎻🎹🎼🎶
100% agree! I searched for hours and hours for this, I never knew the name of it. Always loved it. But is it just me, that I think this is more fitting to Autumn, like, I picture leaves falling, and a sad kind of tragedy of things falling apart wilting, dying, and falling down.

@@awiggins7031 ITS A JOKE
This is still the best live performance of Vivaldi "Summer" that I have heard to date.
SHE IS COMPLETE LIKE Musician and woman, she LIVE MUSIC REAL.. her face
Agreed 😊
Just check out this performance ruclips.net/video/RvDt_KtOzbc/видео.html
maybe you 'll change your mind.
If I had one dying wish it would be to hear Mari at a live concert playing Vivaldi .
Tout à fait d'accord, c'est la perfection absolue!
How is it possible for someone to create this? Mind blowing...

Ads should not be allowed during one of these performances! I always cry listening to this piece!
Yes spoils it.
I do the same with
Mendelssohn's violin concerto. Isn't it wonderful that music can have that power?
And yes, interrupting classical music is sacrilege.
This and Carnival of the Animals -The Swan
Incredible loved every second.

I've listened to a lot of performances of the 4 seasons, but I always come back to mari samuelsen, she just gives her life to the music and I think nobody on hearth can play the 4 seasons like her
Hi all - we have just managed to transfer this video to my channel where it belongs! Bear with us, we are trying to reinstate the comments and descriptions! Thank you for your support and patience. Team M
I Love Your Music! Amazing
Great!
Beautiful Summer!
💗💗💗 from Tunisia
This is the most beautiful interpretation of the piece that I have heard :)
Here in June 2024 and this video is showing 40 million views!! Wow that's incredible, and shows the talent of Mari.
39 million might be mine alone !!!
@@mugar0015 Ha ha, very good !!! :-)
Saw Mari in Dublin. WOW 🎉
@mugar0015 I was going to say the same thing...Except I was only going to claim a thousand...😂
8:50 See her eyes go across to the first violin, it’s all under control. This is such a beautiful piece and I must say I’ve listen to this video for possibly the past 10 years
When she closes her eyes.
I felt that.
I play the Guitar for 40 years +.
I bow my head for this masterpiece !...
I also hear the beginning of rock music !!, thank you mr Vivaldi !😢😊
This is some exciting stuff. Can you imagine hearing this back in the baroque period. I'd bet audiences were in shock.
only a musician understand how many years upon years of studying and practicing it takes to be able to play like that. its a lifes work
lisbeth young your dead on right,!
I think about that every day but what really blasts my mind is how, how the composers did these works.. without any kind of computer, audio recorders, just a bag full of passion, ofc my eyes are starting to tear, i just can't absorb all the good matter i am listening to.
Only a lover of music can cry their eyes out on said musician's perfection......
Matteo Biagiotti Full commitment to the music is how. Every minute, every second into composing. Really impressive.
I only needed 5

On youtube yet
Yeah, hard to think that someone can foresee their creations still being reinterpreted and/or admired 300 fucking years later
Vivaldi was an ordained priest, a born again man of God who wrote this music for his Creator. Money and fame means little to a man of this character. He is indeed in Heaven with God and very much aware of the gift he was given and the Grace that allowed him to share it with us.
I bet he would love seeing it's on youtube
AMEN!
7 years watching this and never bored… I loved how Mari interpreted this piece and making it sound beautiful❤ touched my heart ♥️
completely agree
БЛАГОДАРЮ И УДИВЛЯЮСЬ КАК МОЖНО ВСЕ ЗАПОМЕИТЬ?
What a fantastic musical performance ! Bravo ! 🎉
I love her bowing technique! Absolute perfection… and how she expresses music, one of my favourite!
Beautiful!
Rock, especially prog Rock seems to share many of the same musical concepts.
Absolutely intense! Love her smile at 9:30. What a great group of passionate artists!
Very well said Wallada!! ❤️
I really can feel the summer sun and wind while listening this piece of art.
This performance of the piece is not just magnificent, it is divine!!!
I quite agree. I am very particular about performances of this piece, and this one was brilliant.
Una bella interpretazione del nostro "Antonio Vivaldi". 👏👏
Can’t stop listening to her… just amazing. Vivaldi would be proud of you, Mari 😊
I don't know how many times I have listened. PERFECT ❤️
Can't count how many times I've watched this video. It's by far my favorite performance of Summer and by now, thanks to you, one of my favorite pieces of all time. Thank you so much for this Mari
Magnifico. Que músicos tan talentosos. Gracias Vivaldi y a estos talentosos músicos por regalarnos tan gran obra maestra.
Besides this wonderful masterpiece of music and the passion Mari is playing it, I really love the guy in the back of Mari. He is hilarious!
Mari is Amazing! I think I have watched this video about 100 times at least. lol
Another beautiful reason to love Vivaldi's music!!!
Wow! No matter how many times I listen to it, still the same effect " feeling relaxed " 🙏 What a masterpiece!!!

100% agree! I searched for hours and hours for this, I never knew the name of it. Always loved it. But is it just me, that I think this is more fitting to Autumn, like, I picture leaves falling, and a sad kind of tragedy of things falling apart wilting, dying, and falling down.

Watching this woman make this instrument sing. Inspired myself to learning the violin. Thank you Mari.
