Vivaldi died in poverty and his music was almost forgotten. Centuries later, hundreds of millions of people, of every culture, race, nationality, still listen to his music in utmost admiration
Many great artists lived that way, especially the musicians. They endure much suffering in their lives in order to convey emotions in abstract form. Artists eventually embrace their suffering because it is the source of their creation. Beethoven went nuts and deaf after an abusive childhood, Mozart was a gambler alcoholic in debt robbed of a playful childhood, Chopin was bipolar and emotional wreck, and JSB had botched baroque eye surgery that left him blind. Tis the journey of the artist.
Cynthia Freivogel is so fast and accurate. She's one of the best violinists I've ever watched. I've watched this a dozen times and I'm still amazed at her speed and accuracy.
Hey there, sorry to interject, i'm a newbie in classical music, and even if this interpretation give me the chills and the tears by his beauty i still prefer Mari Samuelsen's version...i'm i wrong somewhere? I don't understand all the technique behind the violin, it just trigger my soul that's why i love it.
Mari's version is totally great, and in art whether it is music or painting one can go into a room and have a favorite painting or artists. There's a subtle factor here which is the baroque violin is really different from the modern violin, as they are separated by three hundred years of development, so in a way it;s like comparing a piano to an electric piano, they are both cool, but they require different techniques. And each performance reveals something interesting about the music. One of the differences is the bow. The baroque bow--and the player--shapes each phrase as an arc instead of sustaining the music lines all the way to the end. This creates a harmonic space for the other instruments in the orchestra to interact with the soloist so it is more of a music conversation than prepared remarks. This also allows for improvisation, which you see in baroque music and in Jazz, but not, typically, in a modern performance. So there are differences.
I've heard a lot of Vivaldi's Winter, but Mrs. Cynthia definitely tops the hat. The sparse opening is usually played with too much force, making the violin crunch a lot, but she managed to rope out such power without being too massive on the strings, which is amazing because the clarity and the strength of the music sounds just like the cold itself. It's amazing that she made all the harsh sounds of winter so effortless, while keeping emotions on the warm part of the music. And definitely I bow and commend the final movement where she lets all the emotions out, truly amazing, this is literally (and most probably) the hundred time I repeated this recording already. Thank you VoM for recording this masterpiece!!!
This ensemble is a real class act. Period instruments, a perfectly balanced sound with a robust basso continuo. They breathe historic authenticity. But most of all they play so well. Most classical music listeners have heard these concerti played quite a lot, but they haven't heard it played like this. Winter is probably the most compelling of the concerti, and we are are unlikely to ever hear it played better than this live performance by Voices of Music.

Each time I listen to this, Cynthia's demeanor, care for the piece, love for her instrument, and humbleness that she posses tug at my heart. Nobody mentioning how this whole group is using traditional baroque techniques which is rarely seen? They are using traditional bows and traditional baroque bow hold used in the time period when most of us use the Franco or Russian bow hold
I come back to listen frequently, right now having people to mourn for it's the perfect piece to help with that. I never ceased to be amazed at how superbly this is performed each and every time.

This is quite simply the most exquisite performance of Vivaldi I've ever watched or listened to. Your passion shines through this like the sun through a church window. This is as close as I can imagine to the voice of god.
It was a divine performance. All musicians breathed and sounded like one organism. For the first time in my life I am struck by such immaculate power of music.
I’ve listened to this arrangement many times and it grabs me so intensely that I become emotional involved when listening to it. I came from Scotland where the cold winds blaw.
Classical IS MUSIC... pure music that takes over every part of your body. If you close you eyes and listen carefully you can hear EACH instrument at the same time. It truly is a full body experience for me. I grew up listening to classical and opera when everyone else was listening to mainstream tunes. The depth of life born from each classical note will stay with you forever and open your eyes, mind and soul to a whole new realm of reality. Keep it up !
I'm Italian and about Vivaldi, well I know him all the way through...so please believe me when I say this is unbelievable. she's one of the greatest interpreter of the Red Priest Vivaldi...absolutely astonishing.
This great violinist's name is a metaphor in itself. Cinthia is another name for the greek godess Artemis, the hunter, always depicted with her bow. And her last name means free bird. Cinthia Freivogel, please keep on playing forever.
Huge fan of Christian Li and Chloe Chua's performance of this movement, but I was really blown away by this one. Cynthia is just so effortless and refined.
It is actually really hard to find a good performance, from which there is also good live recording. Seriously who ever set up the recording and mixed it, did great job. Feels like I'm right at the centre of the performance. You could even feel the basses and cello play.
Winter may be the least favorite for you, who is probably a northern guy. For me, who lives in a southern country, I much prefer a 15-20 °C winter rather than a 40 °C summer

Thank God the audience didn't clap between the movements! The performance here was so disciplined but so radiant! Outstanding!
Nobody mentioning how this whole group is using traditional baroque techniques which is rarely seen? They are using traditional bows and traditional baroque bow hold used in the time period when most of us use the Franco or Russian bow hold
Thanks for mentioning it!
man fred and if i’m not mistaken, no shoulder rest or chin rest either
Thank you, I was confused why the bow is like a double bass bow
I was just thinking "wth is up with how they're holding those bows!? Where is the chin rest? Where is the shoulder rest?" haha >
Lachlan Walker some professional violinist don’t even use one.I find it more common in old school violinist.
I come back to listen frequently, right now having people to mourn for it's the perfect piece to help with that. I never ceased to be amazed at how superbly this is performed each and every time.
She plays with such precision and clarity. Breathtaking performance
Fantastic performance. Glad Kafka led me here
Does she go by heart? No notes, no book, eyes closed… breathtaking
Divina! Amazing! 🇧🇷🇧🇷💖💖👏👏👏👏
She does :)
Allegro leaves me in tears❤it is honestly incredible to see the main violinist become one with her insturment. You can see her change of emotions from every move she makes. Her passion is breathtaking. Feelings transer into the sound. I can easily feel the emotions of the sound. Amaizing talent and wonderful performance👏
Absolutely spectacular. Hands down the best rendition of Winter I have ever heard! Second to none.
Hoyoverse will forever have my respect for breathing new life into Classical Music with their character leitmotifs.

I think Vivaldi's 4 Seasons is some of the greatest music ever written. I love it!
It in fact is one of the best music ever written, at least by all standards up to today.
I am so glad, there are people that preserve the art of music.

It's. A. Piece.
@@HuyHoang-bw8lz lmao dude chill

Indeed.

This is quite simply the most exquisite performance of Vivaldi I've ever watched or listened to. Your passion shines through this like the sun through a church window. This is as close as I can imagine to the voice of god.
The fact you still reply to comments 8 years after is wonderful. Im starting to progress as a violinist.
The Best rendition of "Winter" that anyone will witness. Magnificent, Indeed !
Thank you so much!
ruclips.net/video/kS-W3lfcVvY/видео.html what about this one?
do you know why her bow is strange
@@ulasonal it's a baroque bow. They used it to be historically acurate to the piece.
@@Jessavjo93 - not bad, but parts of it sound rushed.
I feel this rendition has better use of dynamics.
The performance is overwhelming and everyone is so professional. Every note is so precise. Watch this video hundred times and feels so emotional
Thanks so much!
@@VoicesofMusic Omg, so you're responding 6 years later?!?? How's that even possible?!???!??!!!

It was a divine performance. All musicians breathed and sounded like one organism. For the first time in my life I am struck by such immaculate power of music.
300 years later and still better than most music today
That's the best Winter Version I've ever heard ! Absolutely grandios...

Vivaldi, the master of making instruments feel like living things. What a rock star.

3:31 II. Largo
5:28 III. Allegro
One of the best and most authentic recordings out there!
I’ve listened to this arrangement many times and it grabs me so intensely that I become emotional involved when listening to it. I came from Scotland where the cold winds blaw.
People who manage this channel: "What kafka they are even talking about..."
Anyway, it's so amazing, still the best music in history
Classical IS MUSIC... pure music that takes over every part of your body. If you close you eyes and listen carefully you can hear EACH instrument at the same time. It truly is a full body experience for me. I grew up listening to classical and opera when everyone else was listening to mainstream tunes. The depth of life born from each classical note will stay with you forever and open your eyes, mind and soul to a whole new realm of reality. Keep it up !
:)
I was not read ur comment, then i wrote the same experience. :D

I'm Italian and about Vivaldi, well I know him all the way through...so please believe me when I say this is unbelievable. she's one of the greatest interpreter of the Red Priest Vivaldi...absolutely astonishing.
omg these are one of the best musicians Ive ever seen
This great violinist's name is a metaphor in itself.
Cinthia is another name for the greek godess Artemis, the hunter, always depicted with her bow.
And her last name means free bird.
Cinthia Freivogel, please keep on playing forever.
Mindblowing.

Huge fan of Christian Li and Chloe Chua's performance of this movement, but I was really blown away by this one. Cynthia is just so effortless and refined.
OMG SAME. not rushed, very powerful as Christian and Chloe. I’m in love 😍
The Interpretation and dynamics is killing. This must be Ling Ling. 40 hours practice per day.

Thank u Hoyo for introducing me to this good music
As good a performance as I have ever heard in over 35 years of listening seriously to Classical music. Absolutely beautiful. Bravo!!
omg i swear when pros play its done so effortlessly and smoothly...it almost sounds like they are not playing fast enough....wow beautiful.
It is actually really hard to find a good performance, from which there is also good live recording. Seriously who ever set up the recording and mixed it, did great job. Feels like I'm right at the centre of the performance. You could even feel the basses and cello play.
Cynthia rocks.
She is an asowme woman

She is the best
Winter may be my least favorite season of the year, but this is my favorite season written by vivaldi
Winter may be the least favorite for you, who is probably a northern guy. For me, who lives in a southern country, I much prefer a 15-20 °C winter rather than a 40 °C summer
