Hey man, I have all of these comp’s but I have never really gone through them all like this before, and this gave me a lot of insight,so thank you very much!

I am very new to understanding Compressors, and I will be honest it has driven me in circles depending on which Video you watch. This is really helpful thanks. I had a Waves Subscription and used their more simple Compressors which I liked, but have killed that one as I didn't use it to it's potential (due to being a newbie) but I really like the Slate subscription and it just makes more sense to me. I will watch your Video a few times so I can work out which is th best Compressor to use for instrumental/orchestral tracks but also more Hybrid for Synths/Drum loops I have a feeling the Analog is the way to go. thanks again !

Amazing tutorial. Really gave me a clear plan on used cases for each compressor I like. Able to build myself a nice effective rack now ❤

LOVE this comparison! Thank you. The more plugin comparison videos you do, the better, in my book. This is something that I've wanted to spend the time doing myself, but just never get around to it. Widdling down my plugin collection, as well.

Awesome work! Fg-Stress is my favorite for drums.

I enjoyed the video, thanks for making this. I would have preferred a drum loop that was less dynamic with a consistent solid hitting kick and snare with stereo information (overhead/room/toms). It would have made it easier for me to hear what the compressors were doing, but I can test that myself.

Apparently I need to mess with the 116 vintage more it had some good clarity. I generally use the FG-grey/red 401 and ofc FGX-2

The U73b is a Fairchild type, as far as I understand. Vari-mu Tube compressor.
    Enjoyed the video. Thanks!

Nice good video. I'm researching the Slate Verb Suite Classics, trying to figure out each unit, including the base ones and the expansion packs to see exactly which software unit is which of the hardware version of reverb it was modeled from. For example i know the FG-224 and FG-224XL are the Lexicon 224 and 224XL, but am trying figuring out the rest of the models on the internet and from other engineers that may know. If you have a video or more information let me know please, and i will do the same if you need. Cheers!

Yessss!! Thank you for this! And thanks for the little shout out at the beginning. Also, as a musician/dad I definitely appreciate the limitations on the amount of time you can put into this. I've been meaning to test out that u73b so thanks for including that. I'm mixing a song today and that might be good on the bass guitar. I'm glad you used a drum loop for these comparisons because one of the things I've been struggling with is which compressor to use on my drum bus. So far, the 116 Vintage is my favorite for that, but this video definitely helps. Nice work!
I have found it helpful to do a little research and get a good understanding of what these compressors are meant to emulate and what those units were known for. There are no hard rules, but it helps me feel like I can make more informed choices.
p.s. hit that "punch" button on the monster. Sounds great.

Thanks man, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thought you might enjoy the mention 😉
It was certainly a learning experience for me. I was surprised by a few of them, and how you could get some to sound pretty similar. FG-Dynamics is just so punchy, I love it. The Monster is a beast! I’m always pressing that punch button on a parallel drum channel 🥊

Thsts not what that switch does. It's still compressing the low end. But the compressor it's not being triggered by it.
