Showing love all the way from Southern Africa. Thank you so much for dropping these anime jewels in tutorial form. This is my new technique for NPR world creation from here on out. You are a Living Legend Kristof Senpai!!
I love the approaches you've described, for the Cloud Sky Dome in the beginning, and the Milky Way about the ending; this video is quite inspiring and really elucidative! A bit long, but, certainly, fascinating!
You're an actual Blender genius! Thank you so much for all these tutorials and blend all files that you give for free!! :D I wish you well and I can't wait to see all the new creative things that you'll continue to make!
Just gotta say man, you're very talented and the fact all of your resources are free or nearly all free is an absolute miracle. You do fantastic work and honestly should be hired as a professional at this point if not already. Thank you for making your learning resources free and accessible to a wide community.
Dear Lord, this is beautiful. Can’t wait to follow along when I’m off work! Thanks SO much for creating whimsical content like this! These types of scenes are the very reason I embarked on my Blender journey.
I love your shader workflow, it resonates with the style I am aiming for and it has helped me immensly to progress in the art direction that I would love to continue in. I was always lost in shading and was looking to paint textures instead, but blender isn't that friendly when it comes to texture painting. Love your stuff, keep it up!
I found with scenes like this it is best for a still render. If you animate a camera and have rotating around you will see parallaxing with the clouds and night sky. There really would not be that much parallax since both are pretty far away from the viewer. In his scene the clouds are not really that far away from the camera, but stars are, thus the big parallaxing.
You can also build a panoramic render in the camera setup, to make a full 360 degree equirectangular skybox and the parallaxe problem disapear, it can also be export in open exr aces or true HDR file to make the global lighting easy, or use as a skybox for realtime game engine.
Just discovered your channel cause I'm trying to do ghibli inspired 3D scenes in blender and I just got to say... woaw ! All your videos are so usefull, it's perfect ! Thanks a lot and keep up the good work ! I will try and spread your channel to all my friends who use blender :)
If anyone is having trouble with the background not showing up, or as transparent. I had long ago set my scene settings->film->transparent to ON. Set it to OFF and the background should show up again.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial, man! I made 2 animations with them on my channel, one which is the most recent one with just moving clouds and one from a few weeks ago, i put this video's link in both of them, thanks again for the amazing tutorial
Thanks! I think I will be very grateful to everyone for the next step: 1) Turn on the display of pressed keys on the keyboard and mouse buttons in the Blender!
This is actually very similar to how they actually did it (they showed how they did it in cg world magazine) but they used a painted texture for the outer sphere
Thanks really helpful. Something else I did was to duplicate the dome, make it a little bigger and then use it as a particle emitter for bigger stars. Just gotta work out if I can make them twinkle.
This was amazing, a couple things I ran into was when I went to blend the two colors for the horizon and the night sky, for some reason the horizon color overpowers the night sky even tho my sliders are similar to yours. The other thing is that when I blended my turquoise into the other colors to make the Milky Way, it’s below the dome and not above it 😭😭😭
aah, I would recommend maybe downloading the source material and have a look there to see if everythings similar. Did you maybe delete the upper part of the sphere and turned the camera upside down? Happens to me too sometimes. Like, where is up again? :p
@@KristofDedene update*** I managed to fix the first part of this, but still my Milky Way and stars seems to appear better below my dome, not above it 😭 I swear I’ve followed your tutorial to a T. Ahhh oh well, I’ll keep doing it over n over until I get it right 😅
I'm not interested in animation but I love the type of art style that you've created with Blender. I really want to learn how to use software like Blender to create scenes for comics. If you have any interest in this topic, these are some specific topics that I suggest for future videos: 1) Design custom characters (e.g., different weights, heights, muscle mass, head shape, facial features, hair, etc.). Are there any good low-cost character generators that you recommend to use for designing characters to import into Blender? 2) Pose two or more characters together (e.g., a couple, a mother & child) 3) Change the characters’ facial expressions 4) Create a still image of hair & clothing that looks dynamic. Hair & clothing moves around in action scenes, and it would help to portray that through the still image. 5) Add fantasy features to human characters, such as posable angel/fairy wings, cat/dog ears, a tail, retractable claws, etc. 6) Change the camera angle and come up with interesting camera angles. 7) Create indoor scenes. 8) Create outdoor/nature scenes. 9) Make sure characters fit inside their environment. 10) Portray characters with superpowers or magical powers, etc. I need to know how to apply special effects in order to emulate magical powers or superpowers. For example, It would be useful to learn how to create splashing/swirling water, blowing/swirling fire, water/fire tornados, gust of wind, magical lights/clouds surrounding a character, etc. I want to create a dynamic look but capture that in a still image. 11) Use animals in a scene and pose them according to their body type (e.g., a snake, a bird, a lion, an elephant, a giraffe, someone riding a horse, etc.) 12) Use automobiles in a scene (e.g., pose a character inside a car, open the car's door & trunk in certain scenes) These would all be useful things to learn in order to create different types of scenes in webcomics. I want to learn easier ways to properly show the story through the panels, and just give some life to 3D scenes instead of creating something that looks unnaturally rigid. I don’t mind using a combination of Blender and other programs as long as I can put together any type of scene, preferably in the shortest amount of time possible. I hope to see more tutorials on these topics because it would really help my comic come to life if I can find the best way to do this using 3D software. Thank you :)
Thank you for the tutorial! Just in case if anyone is helpful for anyone else: when you're doing the clouds section, please don't make my mistake and accidentally put in a Translucent BSDF instead of the Transparent BSDF. It took me so long to figure out why my skydome looked so OFF after setting blend mode to Alpha Blend!
Omg, the trail! I was recently, looking for how to do trails in Blender and in your scene is a very pretty one. Since I wanted to recreate the Genshin wish animation in Blender. Sadly all trail videos are outdated and none of them work in Blender 2.91.2 anymore.
Oh, I didn't really explain the trail in the video, but you can download it tough! I think my trail is maybe a bit too specific for this scene, but maybe some of the nodes might help.
Thank you so much for all of these tutorials! I'll make sure to not forget YOUR NAME
Hahahaha
Omg found that really funny 😂
Loll
Heeeheheeeeenice nice joke 😂

This is the only man I find as the "best", he has the best video tutorials for shading.
For anyone looking for an alternative for the Musgrave texture (It's removed in Blender 4.1), you can use a Noise texture node instead
why did they get rid of the musgrave texture?
@@mythra.cia_ It's redundent to the new noise node. Ryan King Art has a short vid on it.

I agree, but if you scale the skydome a lot, you can get less parallaxing. and also a tiny bit of parallax, although unrealistic, does look nice.

@Meteotrance hi, sorry i'm late, could you explain to me how one would do such a thing ? Or share a video of someone explaining it ? Thank you
After 2 days of trail and error, I FINALLY DID IT!!! Thank you so much for the help!
