    In my head, I know those double barrel sawed offs are impractical compared to a thousand other better options these days. But in my heart they're the coolest guns ever.

    IF you are going to use a gun...get to know it, if not get good running shoes.
    If you wish to use a short ( 12" ) double, get it with a full choke on one barrel. A good machinist can do it.
    To be honest, a shotgun with a 12" barrel is a whole new world of gunning.
    It is not impossible to get to know, but it does take practice.
    I have hunted grouse with a short ( 10" ) 12 gauge. It was definitely a game getter, but it took practice.
    One barrel having a full choke made a big difference.
    It was "not" a fifty yard gun, twenty five yards maximum.

    Thanks for the video. Exactly the info I needed . I sawed my 20 gauge 26 inch barrel off to 19 legal inches. I think it will skater enough #6 to turn a mob of brain dead zombies. I hope.
    Seems it would cost me $600 + more tax additional to own a Mossberg 590A1 renegade for 3 additional 3" shell. I would pay the price but they are sold out. My $200 shotgun holds 5+1, 3" 0-0 magnum shells. I think it would sufficiently discourage visitors.
    The sawed off at 25 yards might be very effective if there are multiple dummies to educate.
    People have been here with armed robbery on their mind. I thought shooting through the door above the doorknob when it turned a little would likely get their attention when they notice a hand missing. I wounded how much legal trouble that would cause me. My brother estimated likely around $100,000
    Be careful when you saw off your shotgun barrel or it may go like this if the barrel is a fraction of an inch less than 18 inches (maybe).
    The Marshals were sneaking around on of the Weaver property, when six U.S. Marshals spotted Harris and Sammy Weaver, Randy's 14-year-old son, in woods near the family cabin. People killed: Marshal, Willia Degan, Sammy Weave 14 y/o Weavers' dog, Striker
    I couldn't find an official report about the barrel length or the technique ATF used to measure it so who knows what the actual measurements were. I won't cut mine less than 19 inches to avoid paying the penalty.

    just a heads up, a single pellet can easily kill you, as much as all of them will, it's not a damage multiplier, theyre individual death spheres designed to give you the best probability of hitting a moving target. for defence purposes, they just happen to go bang and be very good at putting people down close range, that single pellet that hit the chest/neck area would've stopped the breathing of that man, other shots in this video, with more pellets on target mightve caused him some intestinal issues but he's still alive.

    Dude don't you get it? That sawed off is for the purpose of twenty feet and closer. Maybe a bit further but it's for up close and personal. You basically made a derringer out of it. A shot gun is for a spread not pin point accuracy. I'm very very surprised you don't understand what you've made there. A room in a house is 15 feet not yards. That sawed off would take care of business at house ranges just fine.

    • @Steve_MP5
      @Steve_MP5  3 года назад

      I know what I made. The myth is that shot fills a room because it spreads and sprays everything. I’m showing that it doesn’t do that. Did you watch the video? I say that multiple times. Even at 15 yards the shot doesn’t spread that much. I did another video for target shooting solutions looking at shot patterns in an indoor range and got the same results.

    I think what would be interesting with your short barrel shotgun is using 12 gauge flight control buckshot with a denim jacket. Also including birdshot. After all the best load for a apartment dweller is 12 gauge birdshot because of penetration issues. Great video two thumbs up 👍👍. Great comparison with your saw-off and 590A1.
    One added comment I’m curious about is how your wrist and hand feel the next day after shooting saw-off and how many shot’s of full power loads.

    • @cantbanme792
      @cantbanme792 3 года назад

      something but if you got a sawn off, you likely intend to use it close quarters, it's far more portable than the longer shotguns, does the same thing up close, you want any actual distance with a shotgun, don't get a sawnoff.

  • @johnsonpink6002
    @johnsonpink6002 2 года назад

    Shooting from the hip isn't really aiming, hold it 2 handed like a pistol and give it a try. Also double barrel shotguns are only aligned and adjusted at the factory muzzle, so they have the same point of impact at a set distance. If you saw it off, then the point of impact for each barrel will be off. The farther you get away, the bigger difference in POI. Might also want to try low recoil ammo.

    • @nachodorito6955
      @nachodorito6955 Год назад

      Their really only good for close quarters. Basically 8-9 yards which in a firearm back in its day was great. All they would do is sit in the saloon or whatever and whoever wasn’t welcome there got hit as soon as the passed the swinging doors.

  • @UncleDanBand64
    @UncleDanBand64 7 лет назад +2

    No disrespect but your just missing the target. If both guns are cylinder bore the spread will be the same. That is from the distance of end of the barrel to the target.

    • @Steve_MP5
      @Steve_MP5  7 лет назад +3

      Danny Little no disrespect but I think you are missing the point. The theory was test was or show whether or not a sawed off is more deadly. I am obviously missing the target. That further shows how inaccurate it is in that configuration. Even when my aim is on, the shot is clearly more spread at the same distance (if you hit it from the hip). Less reliable from the hip obviously, which adds to it being less effective. Thanks for the comment though. I understand what your point is, It's just not the point of the test.

    For home defense consider #6 shot, 3 buck or slugs. Distance from 5 to 15 yards. Shotgun barrel length 18 t0 22 inches use either 12 or 20 guage gun. 20 guage at these ranges is just as effective as 12 guage. # 3 buck in 20 guage has 20 pieces in a shell. Shooting from the hip is not accurate, aim .

    • @yoyohooyo
      @yoyohooyo 3 года назад

      I have plenty of #5 and #6 shot. My 20 gauge barrel is 26 inched. I'm guessing sawing it off to 20 inches might work out good for home defense. Likely only one zombie will make it to the door, and the rest will become lawn ornaments. I would rather pepper two or three than blow the guts out of one. What length barrel would work best for me. I have a 18 inch 12 gage with 00 buck that would be empty by the time I grab the 20 gauge. It seems the 18 inch 12 gauge spreads too much at 50 ft but maybe not . one of the 22 caliber pellets should do the job. I don't know. At least turn back attackers.
      A man said you have to hit zombies in the center of the forehead with a slug to stop them but I think he was kidding.
