My ex wife was very jealous of my 6 or 7 guitars, my girlfriend loves my now collection of 40 and always encourages me to buy more...enabler that she is 😅
Can you adopt me?
I got divorced and then I started buying guitars I love guitars a lot more than being married
You win!
As you should Jeff !
I somehow managed to buy several guitars during my relationship but, when I bought the Harley it was over.
Thanks for explaining the nut thingy on the nut. I had the same issue and thought
“Does that bum you out?” 😂 I just got myself a 60’s Standard in bourbon burst. That Les Paul sound seems to be what I was searching for. Mine has a crack on the nut laquer too btw. Also a small on on the binding 🤷🏻♂️ bums me out a little but I didn’t pay full price for it so I’m happy. Another fun video!
I'm not alone! I'm not sure why they crack there. But I'm ok with it since I don't really care and it gets a discount!
@@guitarmovies i was glad to see this in the video because I didn’t know what was going on with it.
I'm very lucky, my wife loves my guitars & whenever I express interest in a new one she actually pushes me & talks me into buying it!! Just got my Gibson 60's in Unburst this past weekend. I love it.
Never let her go.
The E D reference was too funny. 🤘
Yeah, my Les Paul nut is the same, and the other Gibson’s in the guitar-store I bought it had it aswell, even the custom shops
I nabbed a 50's Tobacco Burst Standard a couple months ago, and it's been the love of my life... and like you, I am (not gonna saw 'WAS' yet) a Tele guy... but dang, the Les Paul... Dang man. Like yours, it was perfect out of the box, and I just love jamming on it. (I bought a Les Paul Special a month or so later too.)
Some Gotoh locking of Kluson locking tulip tuners would be so lovely on this thing!
just for the intro sketch you have a new subscriber sir :)
Luckily my girlfriend can't tell the difference between a lot of my guitars, so I always am able to sneak one in... just keep em in the case :P
I play guitar all my life but the last few years I have actually fallen in love with certain instruments if I would’ve felt this way when I was 20 I would’ve never got married I would’ve just bought more guitars
Non guitar compliment: The metaphorical ED references were well done. It's like you're in advertising or something... : )
Yeah, I really get up for that kind of thing
Hope it stays in tune, none of mine do except the Vintage brand copy!
My Flying V stays in tune the best. The Les Paul is a close second. My LP Special is the one that struggles the most.
That guitar certainly looks beautiful, and looks should definitely be considered when purchasing a guitar. I believe that you are making the correct decision in not keeping it. If you buy and keep guitars that you don’t connect with as a player, then you are now simply collecting. If you have a special connection as a player with every guitar that you own, then you don’t have a collection, you have an arsenal! 🎸
Agreed!
Yeah I totally agree
I have this same model, zero QC issues, and it’s remarkable how well it stays in tune. Gibson did a complete 180 with these new models. They’re fantastic!
i really like the intro music you played! Was it a cover or your own thing?
Thanks! It was just something I made for the video
@@guitarmovies It was great! Interesting way of doing an E flat too.
That was possibly the greatest advertisement I've ever seen
PAY ME, GIBSON
@@guitarmovies I was referring to the ED 😂
@@IanTheGreatYT Ha! I forgot about that
Dang it ! Because of your video, I have to go and check my Les Paul’s and see if I have the same problem at the nut.
Some people have commented theirs is the same, and some have said it’s not an issue for them. I think it’s hit or miss.
I have never played a Les Paul I did not like, but some suit an individual more than others. I am with you on the Les Paul Special. I bought one this year and it has really become a favorite. I wonder what you might think of a PRS Mccarty. I have been eyeballing the s2 version with interest.
I love my LP Special so much. Such a fun guitar. PRS makes incredible instruments. I've just never really bonded with one.
I could not get that one and ended up with a 2018 standard mohjave with a AAA top and have not put the pick guard on still no holes. I want another. Lol
Nice! I like the no pick guard look quite a bit
After 30 years of playing, I've had better luck with the old-school Kluson tuners on my Gibsons than tj Grovers. Plus, I love the booger green buttons.
Say what you will. That guitar is ... stunning.
Love the vids :) More live streams sometime too pls.
I keep meaning to do more live streams but then something comes up. But they are fun and I'd like to do more.
@@guitarmovies Whatever you do, I'll be sure to watch :). Keep on keeping on. Stay safe
I'm in the same camp as you when it comes to the few microscopic issues. I don't care. I take zero issue with small issues due to being a hand made instrument.
Edit: I ended up purchasing some Hipshot keystone tuning buttons for the tuners to give it the classic look.
i have a gibson les paul standard 60's model and i can confirm. there is a crack in the nut.
That's was funny! I had to quit playing for 15yrs Wife orders! Last 22 years playing guitars is all I do every day all day! Wife's paying big time now!! 😆 Thanks
My wife actually bought my 2019 LP Standard 60's Iced Tea Burst
Does she have any sisters?
@@guitarmovies yes but they're both married lol
Honestly, les pauls could sound like pure, organic, unrefiend doo doo and I would still love to own one. They just look amazing!
Ha! They are definitely fun to look at.
I don't buy names. I buy guitars. So, I've found that Gibson can't justify their high prices. And this is coming from the owner of a vintage 1967 Gibson who has played MANY Gibson Les Pauls over the decades.
Sitting down I prefer a beefier guitar but standing up I prefer to not think about how stupid I am for getting another heavier guitar....
Lol I play that D.M.B. satellite riff all the time too. Huge D.M.B. fan I also love the Rhyme or Reason riff. But for the life of me I cant figure out what Dave is playing during the satellite chorus and pre chorus. I can transcribe most stuff by ear at this point but sometimes with unconventional parts I just blank lol.
That's my favorite DMB album. I stopped listening to them very much after 1999-2000, but I think Dave is a very underrated guitar influence.
@@guitarmovies That's exactly how I feel and as far as stopping listening after 99-2000 lol so did I but I still listen to the old stuff. I just remember how fresh it felt hearing that album when it came out. It was a perfect summation of the late 90s music vibe. And Dave really is an excellent rhythm player with a style that's very much his own. Another great video btw!
That guitar does sound great!
Wow!! You got what you want.. spending time with guitar 😂😂. Anyways, congratulations on your new gibson 👍.
Thanks! 😃
It's a myth that grovers are automatically better tuners and have better tuning stability. Top quality klusons are just as good . Out of all the guitars I have owned the ones with the worst timing issues actually had grovers. Of course it was not becuadse grovers are inferior to klusons but it just shows that grovers do not always provide better tuning stability. I had a 2011 traditional with klusons and that guitar would stay in tune for weeks and I had an SG with grovers that would not stay in tune for minutes.
Make sure your Strings are not hitting the back of the bridge before They hit the saddles that’s why players like Joe Bonamassa top rap the strings Over the Stoptail
Good decision. That guitar produced a great sound, but those pickups are virtually everywhere (which is great if you are holding the original stock investments); but - and even though they sound (for lack of a better terminology) beefier. To my ears, they don’t deliver to the same level (variety of tones.......and oh, those tones) you get with the P90!
I’m working on a review of a P90 guitar right now, and it is unreal.
@@guitarmovies Once one really listens to P90’s; the subtle texturing that’s available: kind of locks you in to a place you never want to leave.
I look forward to your upcoming video! Now; get back to work.......😀👍
I sold the 78 les paul standard to give me time to study for the bar. Now, after passing the bar, I sit in my office weeping inconsolably to the gods who surely exist and laugh at the pitiful ambitions of mortals.
OML 5:50 IUSDHFIUDFH I CAN'T EVEN-
That's a rough one
Nuthin wrong with being a fan boy. And that guitar looks fantastic
I started playing reasonably early so I couldn't get married if I tried. 🤣 Funnily enough none of my Gibson have had the lacquer problem at the nut. I keep mine in the case or in a rack. Has it been on a hanger?... anybody else with hangers noticed it??? Great guitar but I still love that TV yellow special you got. ❤🤘
They all kind of rotate between wall hangers, cases, leaned against the wall... The LP came like that. I'm not sure a hanger would do that since it doesn't touch the nut, but who knows.
I don't know if leaning a Gibson just against the wall is a good idea... 😱
@@schmoemi3386 I live on the edge
@@guitarmovies I see. So no risk, no phun, I guess... 😅
I've sold a truck because of my wife, now ex-wife. Wish I still had it. In the end, it's better to hold on to the things you cherish. I'm not saying put your family in financial jeopardy or be greedy. I'm saying don't make impulsive quick fix decisions and some things are worth fighting for. You're not her boss and she's not yours. You both have to compromise. Now all these years later I'm not in that relationship anymore, but at least I'd still have that classic truck if I'd held on to it. No one wants to think of the possibility of getting divorced, but the reality is nowadays most do. I know I too said not me lol.
That's a bummer of a story, but it all too common, unfortunately.
hahahaha take my wife Please
just kidding mine is dead.. I dont miss that monster at all..
Brutal.
I was expecting the divorce story.
As a former Les Paul collector, I understand. Referring back to your Amazon pedal video: I won't buy a Chinese-made guitar. Nothing to do with 'quality' concerns, it's strictly political. We consume so very many China-made products, I draw the line at my guitars! Enjoy that Lester 🎵
I'm with you on that one. I do my best to stick to American made gear.
Reverb? Or Sweetwater return?
You mean where will I sell it? I'll put it on FB and Reverb. Or people can DM on instagram @michael.richeson and we can avoid Reverb now that it takes so much $$
@@guitarmovies they really do. It’s a gorgeous rig brother. Too bad you’re not keeping it. And NOT relicing it. 😉
@@MatthewFant I'll go get the hammer
@@guitarmovies oh lord. 🤣🤣🤣 no, nope, no no no. Hell no.
@@guitarmovies Looks like a little Guitar Center Les Paul "Relic job" is in order......lol
Too funny!

@@guitarmovies The look on your son's face when you mention seeing him every other weekend is priceless!
Careful, though. Hotwife gonna sell your kid for a Tele just to spite you.
