It makes me glad Higashi didn't go the same route as Nishiki, who basically went off the deep end as he rose to power. He didn't let that incident completely change who he was or his principles that he stood by. If anything it pushed Higashi to become strong enough to protect as much as he could while he had the limited freedom that Hamura gave him; more specifically the territories that Kaito use to keep under his watch while in the family. Even though Higashi knew he could never truly redeem himself for Red Nose's death, he could atone for it a little by at least taking up Kaito's responsibilities to ensure Hamura didn't taint it with his influence.
That scene at the end and the scene where Yagami saves Kaito's finger really does make their relationship feel a lot more genuine than Kiryu and Nishiki's did, at least in Kiwami. It really does feel like this is more about Kaito than Yagami, especially because Yagami just dips out and lets Higashi and Kaito talk, and that Yagami really doesn't seem to have any stake in the conflict other than pissing Hamura off. Yagami really is the mysterious friend character, and it feels so much more natural that the plot doesn't revolve around him (no shade at Kiryu, he's basically the perfect protagonist for Yakuza, more like just the series as a whole). TL;DR: Yagami and Kaito are the best part of the series
The scenes are great, but, goddamn, is anyone else impressed with the facial expressions in this game? Not that they've been bad at all in the previous Yakuza games, but, what really got me in those scenes with Higashi was his expressions, his body language, you can see the fear, the pure anxiety on his face, along with the terror sweat. I feel like this game is really acing the "show don't tell" thing. It's just my opinion of course, but, I've wanted to express that for a while now.

That thing that Hamura did with Higashi, holding his hands and forcing him to shoot Red Nose... It reminds me of what he was doing with another of his men when Yagami was cornered in the alley way at the end of chapter 2. He did the exact same thing, holding the hand and making his subordinate point the gun at Yagami... I wonder. Does he do that with all his men?
I LOVED the scene between Kaito and Higashi. It gave us lots of characterization for Yagami, like you said, but the mere fact that Kaito was divulging all of this to Higashi in the first place told us that these two men still trust and respect one another despite technically being on opposite sides - so when Higashi smiles and says he'd think twice about an order to kill Kaito, we already believe him. It would be very easy for a line like that to feel forced, or like the person's loyalty could go either way until their words clarify their stance, but there has been more than enough implicit character development for this line to feel completely natural. To give another example of this, note how Kaito spends the entire conversation sitting down, while Higashi stands behind the counter and leans towards him. This could be a sign of deference from Kaito, since he's on what is now Higashi's turf. That part's purely speculation - but either way, by choosing to sit down, Kaito has given the "power" in the room over to Higashi, the guy he'd just finished beating to a pulp. It would have been so easy for Kaito to press his advantage, looming over Higashi and grilling him for info, but instead he chose to establish their status as equals and reforge their bond. This game is incredible.
The reason why you aren’t getting the flux fissure right is bez in the combo it need to be held down square after two separate square buttons (it occurs very quick). The charge attacks are also at specific times, you essentially hold each triangle button after a rush combo but maintaining the pace of said combo.
He’s my fave character but he’s rather different to me. He falters a lot more than Kiryu and only stands his ground when push comes to shove unlike Kiryu who usually does,.
I dunno if anyone else noticed this but I'm so happy Yagami did the one thing that characters in most Yakuza games DON'T do. He took the gun and fired off every bullet so there wasn't a chance of it being used against him or Kaito.

Just a reminder Nico--Tiger Drop isn't the only answer to mortal attacks. It might be the coolest, but the game initially teaches you 2 other ways; EX mode through the damage or out-prioritize the mortal attack with a wall run jump kick move or EX action. Glad you're enjoying the game so far! Whether it's more Yakuza or spin-offs like this, I hope we get to see you visiting Kamurocho plenty more.
Kaito and Yagami are Yakuza 0 Kiryu and Nishiki, Kaito and Higashi are Yakuza 1 Kiryu and Nishiki and honestly seeing those two dynamics concurrent with each other is really fucking rad
*Dice and Cube tips:* You can get a skill later that slows the dice roll down so you can pick exactly what number you want to roll. You can also get skills that increase the number of your starting dice. When you unlock special enemies, all you have to do is cross over them on the board, not land right on their square. The purple enemy steals all your items, but when you encounter him again, he gives you back everything plus 50%, so he’s the Mr Shakedown of Judgment. It’s best to gather a lot of stuff first, then encounter him. You can get buttloads of stuff off the gold enemies first. When you beat 1 Star, 2 Star, 3 Star enemies, you get bonus dice equal to the star level you just beat. You can play for free by getting all 6 voucher passes, or abuse the blackjack exploit to buy tons of regular passes from the casino. Later game boards have some skill books hidden in locked safes. You have to unlock those specific safes to get the books. That’s the only place in the game to get those skills.
41:20 - Considering Haruka was 10 in Yakuza 2/Kiwami 2, which was set in 2006. She would 22 by the year Judgement is set in (2018). So yeah, not weird for someone of Tak's age. Wait, what is Tak's age? (looks it up) Tak is 35? Huh, that's slightly a bit older than I was expecting. I was thinking 29 or 30.
Okay Nico, big tips for VR dice and getting tickets to play! *Long wall incoming lol* First off, getting tickets can be easy at first, since the first time you beat certain minigames(batting, shogi) you get tickets. Second, normal enemies *can* drop them, but it's rng, so they might not immediately, but near the end of the game they do. Third, VR is the *best* way to get money in the game, hands down! But like I said before, it needs tickets. The best way to utilize getting money in a round are getting hit by kero-nyan(black cat) because, they double your earnings! So if you get hit by them and go beat their challenge, you get double of what you lost! Second, is koro-nyan(gold cat), which gives all spaces minigames that are money boosters. If you roll 5-6-2 in that order(it might seem difficult but there is an expensive upgrade to slow the roll), you get an immediate koro-nyan(so many cats), and they stack up to 4 times a game. Hopefully these tips help you to becoming (somewhat) rich in judgment.
Good to see someone already mention all of this. Since it's not really a spoiler, i would also add that you can get infinite tickets by collecting all of the vouchers in the game. There are found in various minigames and shops.
The Free Play Pass Vouchers have to be obtained from challenges or as prizes from places like the casino or Baseball challenges. For example, they have one of the Play Pass Vouchers as a prize from the casino under Koi Bride. They can be difficult to get, but they are worth it since this mode is a really effective way to get money!
To be fair, being un sexualized doesn't mean that a character shouldn't make out with another un sexualized character. Depending on the context, it could be the cutest Goddamn thing you'll ever see in your life.
Hamura reminds me of Scar (my favorite Disney villain) and Walt Whitman, who had a real talent for manipulating others to get what they wanted. While it's definitely underhanded, it's also how some of the best villains use their head to get ahead of the game. And that's probably why it's so engaging to watch and learn about them as the main antagonist of the story.
Now it makes sense why Yagami walked out of the lawyer working life. He probably was reminded about what happened to his parents on top of the reasons he gave about "was that guy innocent from the start?"
Hey Nico! Since you've been struggling with the Flux and Charging Tiger attacks (Hold Square and Hold Triangle respectively), I thought I'd try to explain what I think is making it harder for you to do them. The biggest thing would probably be the fact that you're trying to charge them too early or that you're releasing too early, and that can be attributed to the 2 hit nature of Tiger Style's Rush combos. What do I mean? Well, the best way I can put it is that for every single press of Square, there is a quick hit that connects into a shield breaking hit. Because of that, you want to start holding Square or Triangle at the end of that 2nd hit of the attack. For Charging Tiger (Triangle), the attack will come out on its own when it's fully charged. You'll have to hold (or just press if you want) Triangle again as the attack comes out to input more finishers. However, doing a Charging Tiger guardbreak an enemy will cause them to be stunned. For Flux Fissures though (Square), it's trickier since I personally don't believe the game does a good job of explaining the move properly. First, you can do this move from any point in your rush combo, so long as it's after the 2nd hit of each single Square input. Then, you'll want to keep holding the button until Yagami connects to the enemy. Then, a Square prompt will show up that'll close into another, smaller square. It's important to keep Square held down for the duration of this and to release it when the Square prompts overlap which will give you such a satisfying attack that can arguably match Tiger Drop. Hopefully you read this and were able to find it useful! Even with all of this said and done, nothing beats trying all of this out yourself and practicing the rhythm for implementing these attacks.
BTW, something I found out while playing is that when you’re walking around, you can toggle running using the R2 and can trigger walking by R1, which feels more natural for me
So Nico, i see you noticed that Higashi was straight up juggling you at one point during his boss fight, were you possibly wondering "hmmm, i wonder if i can do that too"? Because here's how! Yes in this game like a few other older yakuza games, you can actually perform juggles! How do you do so? Well it actually involves style switch cancelling, yes you can actually do that in this game without going into your super mode, what you have to do is perform a combo finisher that sends the enemy flying into the air in some way, and right after the enemy is launched immediately change your style, if done correctly the enemy will still be in their falling state and you can start comboing them and keeping them suspended mid air, it does require pretty strict timing, but is really fun once you get the timing down, and if you're a REAL mad lad you can go a step even further beyond, and change styles in the middle of your rush combo while you're juggling the enemy, but that requires even MORE strict timing then normal juggles, so try at your own risk. And yes, this can be done on bosses too, thanks for reading if you have!

So about the Vr section, that place is both your fastest and unlimited money source in the goddamn world. You can get more than a million yen or even more in a single course. You should also try to get all the 6 free pass parts to do it in a even more broken way, it is insane.
For the flux fissure you have to hold square anytime for every attack and for the charged attacks you just have to hold triangle instead of pushing it for "heavy attacks" (sorry for my english...)

While it looked awesome and it was incredibly gratifying to see a Yakuza-esque protag not leave a loaded gun beside the person who just tried to shoot you... yes, I also had that exact thought when I first saw it. :P Maybe the roof/floor was thick enough to stop the bullets.
The Free Pass Vouchers are obtained from different establishments in the game. The most common ones are at the gambling halls and there is 1 for beating the Drone Racing Championships, another is unlocked after doing everything at the batting center and the last you can get from a friend in chapter 5 after maxing their friendship levels in the sewer.
If you’re ever low on money Nico just go to Dice&Cubed. It’s basically like playing Mario party except without the crippling anger, feeling of betrayal. But you get free money and bodily harm in exchange

So I actually looked up Yagami’s voice actor/mocap. And he literally looks exactly like him even the skin tan, everything except Yagami’s black straw hair. I couldn’t find Jester’s English voice actor but in English he sounds suspiciously like Johnny Young Bosch. I don’t believe it’s him though

The purple enemy steals all your items, but when you encounter him again, he gives you back everything plus 50%, so he’s the Mr Shakedown of Judgment. It’s best to gather a lot of stuff first, then encounter him. You can get buttloads of stuff off the gold enemies first.
When you beat 1 Star, 2 Star, 3 Star enemies, you get bonus dice equal to the star level you just beat.
You can play for free by getting all 6 voucher passes, or abuse the blackjack exploit to buy tons of regular passes from the casino.
Later game boards have some skill books hidden in locked safes. You have to unlock those specific safes to get the books. That’s the only place in the game to get those skills.

Okay Nico, big tips for VR dice and getting tickets to play!
*Long wall incoming lol*
First off, getting tickets can be easy at first, since the first time you beat certain minigames(batting, shogi) you get tickets.
Second, normal enemies *can* drop them, but it's rng, so they might not immediately, but near the end of the game they do.
Third, VR is the *best* way to get money in the game, hands down! But like I said before, it needs tickets. The best way to utilize getting money in a round are getting hit by kero-nyan(black cat) because, they double your earnings! So if you get hit by them and go beat their challenge, you get double of what you lost! Second, is koro-nyan(gold cat), which gives all spaces minigames that are money boosters. If you roll 5-6-2 in that order(it might seem difficult but there is an expensive upgrade to slow the roll), you get an immediate koro-nyan(so many cats), and they stack up to 4 times a game.
Hopefully these tips help you to becoming (somewhat) rich in judgment.

Good to see someone already mention all of this. Since it's not really a spoiler, i would also add that you can get infinite tickets by collecting all of the vouchers in the game. There are found in various minigames and shops.

The Free Play Pass Vouchers have to be obtained from challenges or as prizes from places like the casino or Baseball challenges. For example, they have one of the Play Pass Vouchers as a prize from the casino under Koi Bride. They can be difficult to get, but they are worth it since this mode is a really effective way to get money!

Hamura reminds me of Scar (my favorite Disney villain) and Walt Whitman, who had a real talent for manipulating others to get what they wanted.
While it's definitely underhanded, it's also how some of the best villains use their head to get ahead of the game.
And that's probably why it's so engaging to watch and learn about them as the main antagonist of the story.
Idk why but to me, kaito feels like if he was kiryu but a lot more happier.

Hey Nico! Since you've been struggling with the Flux and Charging Tiger attacks (Hold Square and Hold Triangle respectively), I thought I'd try to explain what I think is making it harder for you to do them.
The biggest thing would probably be the fact that you're trying to charge them too early or that you're releasing too early, and that can be attributed to the 2 hit nature of Tiger Style's Rush combos. What do I mean? Well, the best way I can put it is that for every single press of Square, there is a quick hit that connects into a shield breaking hit. Because of that, you want to start holding Square or Triangle at the end of that 2nd hit of the attack.
For Charging Tiger (Triangle), the attack will come out on its own when it's fully charged. You'll have to hold (or just press if you want) Triangle again as the attack comes out to input more finishers. However, doing a Charging Tiger guardbreak an enemy will cause them to be stunned.
For Flux Fissures though (Square), it's trickier since I personally don't believe the game does a good job of explaining the move properly. First, you can do this move from any point in your rush combo, so long as it's after the 2nd hit of each single Square input. Then, you'll want to keep holding the button until Yagami connects to the enemy. Then, a Square prompt will show up that'll close into another, smaller square. It's important to keep Square held down for the duration of this and to release it when the Square prompts overlap which will give you such a satisfying attack that can arguably match Tiger Drop.
Hopefully you read this and were able to find it useful! Even with all of this said and done, nothing beats trying all of this out yourself and practicing the rhythm for implementing these attacks.

BTW, something I found out while playing is that when you’re walking around, you can toggle running using the R2 and can trigger walking by R1, which feels more natural for me

So Nico, i see you noticed that Higashi was straight up juggling you at one point during his boss fight, were you possibly wondering "hmmm, i wonder if i can do that too"? Because here's how! Yes in this game like a few other older yakuza games, you can actually perform juggles! How do you do so? Well it actually involves style switch cancelling, yes you can actually do that in this game without going into your super mode, what you have to do is perform a combo finisher that sends the enemy flying into the air in some way, and right after the enemy is launched immediately change your style, if done correctly the enemy will still be in their falling state and you can start comboing them and keeping them suspended mid air, it does require pretty strict timing, but is really fun once you get the timing down, and if you're a REAL mad lad you can go a step even further beyond, and change styles in the middle of your rush combo while you're juggling the enemy, but that requires even MORE strict timing then normal juggles, so try at your own risk. And yes, this can be done on bosses too, thanks for reading if you have!

So about the Vr section, that place is both your fastest and unlimited money source in the goddamn world. You can get more than a million yen or even more in a single course. You should also try to get all the 6 free pass parts to do it in a even more broken way, it is insane.
For the flux fissure you have to hold square anytime for every attack and for the charged attacks you just have to hold triangle instead of pushing it for "heavy attacks" (sorry for my english...)

While it looked awesome and it was incredibly gratifying to see a Yakuza-esque protag not leave a loaded gun beside the person who just tried to shoot you... yes, I also had that exact thought when I first saw it. :P Maybe the roof/floor was thick enough to stop the bullets.
That fight with Higashi is one of my favorites tbh.
The Free Pass Vouchers are obtained from different establishments in the game. The most common ones are at the gambling halls and there is 1 for beating the Drone Racing Championships, another is unlocked after doing everything at the batting center and the last you can get from a friend in chapter 5 after maxing their friendship levels in the sewer.
