Kamuro of the dead is an original arcade game that references the very infamous yakuza dead souls or ryu ga gotoku of the end in japan (ryu ga gotoku is the name of the series in Japan, in english it's "Like a Dragon"). The reason I say infamous is because that game was not well received in the west because of its mediocre combat. And this game also sold terribly in the west. Which led to one of the reason sega didn't want to release anymore yakuza games outside of japan for awhile until sony came and asked people which games they wanted from japan. Which led to yakuza 5 finally coming over to the west after 3 long years and then yakuza 0 which boosted the series popularity and finally become recognized for the great series it is today. Now it's become so popular that Judgment got a dub that the series hasn't gotten since the first game as we all know. Glad things have changed.

Jeez, that computer in Puyo Puyo was out for BLOOD. The AI in that game shows no frickin mercy. There's a variety of ways to play Puyo, but the basic idea is to create as long a "chain" as you can. Connect 4 of the same color to clear them from the board, and collapse the things on top of them to connect four more. The more you can clear in a single move, the more ABSOLUTELY SCREWED your opponent becomes. One of my favorite strategies is what I call "The Tower". Essentially, stack two columns of Puyos on one of the sides, and then try to collapse them. Since garbage blocks only fall on open columns, you can always have an out by collapsing parts of the tower on one side of the screen. And sometimes, it collapses into a pretty awesome chain. I hope you like the advice, especially if you go nuts and try to complete all the KamuroGo stuff. You madman.

Basically this episode: Nico takes you out on a friendlu date and roars in the game arcade. You're standing to the side, watching him mash buttons and relive his nostalgia. Good day.
The rundown on Puyo and its three big mechanics. 1) Gravity: As you noticed individual puyos fall, so placing a piece sideways over a hole can be used to drop only a single color down that hole. Puyos will fall when a space is created under them due to matching. Seems simple enough, but is important to remember for the second mechanic. 2) Chaining: Puyo has always done the Tetris 99 style of competition through sending trash to the other player. Causing a match of 4+ to drop another match of 4+ into place is the most common way to increase how much trash you send to them. Small amounts of trash can be quite useful in setting up combos of your own, as clearing any color adjacent to trash clears it. Making multiple matches at once or matching more than 4 does give you a bonus, but not as much as a chain. It is possible to chain from the board being full to it being empty in a single move if set up perfectly. 3) Countering: This changes the most between versions of the game and I'm not sure which rules Judgement uses, but generally you can clear the garbage that is waiting to drop on you with far less than what it took for them to send it. Overcoming that stored garbage then gives you a bonus to what you send over if the chain continues. So generally you can win against ai by setting up a bunch of groups of 3 then setting off as much as you can once you see them send a decent amount of garbage at you for a single crushing counter. Finally, trivia time. Puyo Puyo is a spinoff that engulfed the original series, Sorcery Saga, and the puyos are the basic slime enemy in that rpg series. Since that series had no presence outside of Japan when they were bringing Puyo over, the game was rebranded as Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, a Sonic spinoff in which Sonic never actually appears and the reason Puyo is a "boss" in Sonic Mania, and a later entry was rebranded into Kirby's Avalanche.

Fun Fact: You guessed it, Kamuro of the Dead is a homage to the game Yakuza Dead Souls. As you can imagine, the actual game isn't like House of the Dead, but rather plays more like a regular Yakuza game with Resident Evil 5 style shooting. Dead Souls existed as an attempt to appeal to the western audience, as they thought that Yakuza drama stories still went over westerners heads. It was technologically flawed, however, and it lead to major slowdown in big set pieces. When you eventually get around to beating Yakuza 4, I wholeheartedly recommend you give Dead Souls a look. It oozes fanservice that I think you'll find really fun.
Glad to see RUclips’s asshattery didn’t mess up your workday too much. We’re all behind you, Nico. I hope your appeal gets upheld. Let us know if we can help in any way.
Fighting Viper is actually more based on the Soul Blade engine, the predecessor to the Soul Calibur Series, the trick to beat Jane is knowing how to armor break, which honestly it's incredibly difficult to pull out if you don't really have the combo list, makes a lot of sense why they decided not make that last fight needed for completion
Absolutely loved the Time Crisis games! House of the Dead was pretty good too, especially with all the different branching paths you could take. Still, I think my second favorite shooter (other than Time Crisis) would have to be Zombie Raid. Both players had a pump-action shotgun to shoot their way through an army of zombies (armed with guns,) werewolves, and other monsters. But there was a bit of a hidden secret that players wouldn't find out about until they got to the end unless they were lucky along the way: there were three hidden gems that, if you didn't find them all, or placed them in the wrong spots at the end of the game, a trap door opened and kills the players outright in a pit of spikes, forcing them to start all over again. But if they got it right, they could fight the mad scientist that was making all the monsters... after he drinks a potion that turned him into a giant four armed flying dragon. Would the game win awards? Nah, but the thought process behind everything going into this game was kinda like Danganronpa 2 where Chiaki explains the "Down 5" situation. To learn the truth, one had to know the secret in the game.
Funny thing about the Kamuro of the Dead game, it is actually based off of a Yakuza spin off game known as Kamuro Dead Souls for the PS3 where Kamurocho becomes the site ofa what if zombie apocolypse where the main cast fights against the enemies in this arcade game. The best parts about it were Majima's moments of badassery as well as the fact that he just immediately adjusts to the situation as well as surprisingly Ryuji supposedly surviving his end in yakuza 2 and coming back with a Barret ff7 style arm plasma machine gun!
You are right about one thing Nico! The achievement you got from playing Kamuro of the Dead is indeed referencing the alternate timeline spin-off "Yakuza: Dead Souls". The music and everything even comes from the game. If you remember Zombie Majima in Yakuza Kiwami, that too is also a reference to Dead Souls.
@NicoB thank you for mentioning my comment about the Vampire figure in the DLC and the ❤️’s! It really means a lot to me! Keep up the awesome work! 😎😊❤️
1:01:06 Nico is a man who knows what he wants... and what he wants is as many frenchies as he can possibly surround himself with. Sadly, it looks like Bernie will have to be enough for now.
I'm looking forward to the day a future Yakuza game puts in Sonic the Fighters and Fighters Megamix. Get all the AM2 Warriors in there. Also, Kamuro of the Dead is a parody of House of the Dead, but also the call back to the non-canon Yakuza spin-off, Yakuza Dead Souls.
I just love the feeling that rail shooters had when playing was technically Virtua Cop as a demo from a cousin but the closest I had to that kind of game was on the Wii with Resident Evil 4 it felt real good aiming I remember being so good I could even shoot a rocket being shot at me. Then I got House of the Dead and Sin and Punishment any shooter I could find on the Wii. When VR was becoming a thing they started showing more of those rail shooters like a amusement park Until Dawn game, that made me hunt out for the PS Move on PS3 while everyone was getting VR, I got to enjoy the rare genre along with some games I already had that turned out to be compatible with the PS Move, inFamous 2 Bioshock Infinite, it was so fun having a new means to play them. Closest thing there is these days is the Switch's gyro aiming which is different but it helps... seems not many people acknowledge it outside Reddit. PS4 has it to but only 2 games actually utilize it, Paladins and Gravity Rush 2.
1:03:08 I'd never heard of "House of the Dead" before, so I decided to look it up, and I find announcements for a Switch remake only a few hours old. Talk about a coincidence...
(Check 29:05) Ringo (chara from Puyopuyo) is a student at *Suzuran* Junior High. It's just a normal school, maybe. Genji Takiya is a transfered student at *Suzuran* All Boys High School. It's filled with fighting student everyday. Is this referenced from "Crows Zero"? I mean this game use that name. So it seems that every students at "Suzuran-named" school are overpowered. (If you search "Suzuran" on google, you will find everything about Suzuran All Boys High School and Crows Zero)
The Zombie arcade minigame seems to be based off a Yakuza Zombie spin off. It’s basically a spin off where you play as Yakuza characters (Including Majima) and mow down Zombies. That game is also the reason Zombies often showed up In the previous games. So those zombie appearances are really just a nod towards it. Maybe you could LP it someday too. I heard it was pretty bad tho so maybe a Livestream could work best?? Wouldn’t mind you playing it a little bit at least, even if it isn’t all that good lol. Keep in mind that It has characters from Yakuza 4 tho so it’s probably better to wait on trying it out after you complete that game first anyway.
It's really not that bad of a game, it's just littered with performance issues when big set pieces occur, so some later segments of the game were a slog. It's still very much worth playing for the fanservice it offers. Hopefully SEGA will port it to ps4 to alleviate some of the technical issues.
I’ve been looking forward to you checking out Virtua Fighter 5 and the arcades! Helpful tip, to beat Dural for the KamuroGo mission, Vanessa and El Blaze are good to use since their Circle attack while mess with the AI and you can effectively beat everyone with relatively easy effort. For Dural, try back stepping twice and then do your combo with the ⭕️ (continuously mashing the Circle Button is surprisingly effective on everyone and can really make it easy to beat the stages) Also, for the VF5 Mission to win as everyone, you just have to win one round as each character. For Fighting Vipers, when I fought Raxel, I got knocked off the building through the glass so many times until I finally managed to beat him 😭😂! Also, you don’t need to beat Jane for the Missions for this game, Thank God! I think this one is just for the challenge and bragging rights. BTW in case you didn’t know, you can use the arcade games, you can pause using the touchpad. Glad you enjoyed it! 😎❤️
Vanessa’s kick attack is the most broken move in the game. Just spamming it nonstop beats everyone you face, AND Durrel, without even trying. It’s a slice of cheese bigger than the state of Wisconsin.
@NicoB thank you again for another ❤️! It means a lot to me every time and I’m so happy and honored to be noticed by you and that you liked my comments!
The Ebisu Pawn Friendship event needs to be started by obtaining one of 5 paintings instigating a hunt for all the paintings. So Nico, if you want to know more about it, you can find a guide online on where to find the paintings but if you don't want too many spoilers I would also be happy to leave a spoiler-free description of where to get these paintings.
The main differences between Tetris and Puyo Puyo is that in Tetris the goal was to get a complete line of blocks along the board, while in Puyo Puyo you had to get any shapes of 4 of the same color as fast as possible, as being too slow will result in the opponent dropping Trash Blocks into your board, preventing you from getting combinations. This feature was brought back with Tetris 99. However, Sega made another Puyo Puyo game called Robotniks Mean Bean Machine for the Sega Genesis and later the Game Gear, and was essentially the same thing except with a Sonic skin, but the fun thing was that you fought against the villains from the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon, which was a pretty fun easter egg/reference.
You don't want to just get 4 of the same color, that only does a single puyo of garbage and is essentially just stalling. You need to set them so that they make a chain reaction.
Actually Mr. NicoB, Kamuro Of The Dead is in fact a real spin-off action-adventure survival horror game. It is named: "龍が如く OF THE END オブ ジ エンド" Rōmaji: "Ryū ga Gotoku OF THE END" Translation: "Like a Dragon of the End." Official Localized Name: "Yakuza: Dead Souls." In Japan the game was released in the 9th of June, 2011 while in NA, it's release date is March 13, 2012, and in the EU the release date is a few days later at March 16, 2012.
After Yakuza 4 there was a spinoff game called Yakuza Of the End - Yakuza Dead Souls outside Japan, where Kiryu, Ryuji, Majima and a playable character of Yakuza 4 all grab guns and mow down zombies. And yes, you can still do karaoke while in a zombie outrage.
Always abuse Heat Actions and EX Boost when fighting Honda, because he hits like a truck in hard mode. Even with maximum health, he can whittle it down in five seconds if you let him.
Sorry, you misunderstood my comment in regards to flux fissure. It was in reference to how you were having trouble doing it after a combo; you don't technically need to do it during a combo as it will initiate even if you only do the square attack once, as long as you hold it down. You were originally correct as to the timing of the actual attack. Edit: Okay, apparently I've been doing it wrong all this time and tricked myself into thinking I was doing it right, you DO let go once the squares overlap...
Since I can hear the roaring Ree's of the Puyo crowd from here. Figured I'd give Nico a rundown on how the game works. Actually, Puyo Puyo is only similar to Tetris on the part that there are "blocks" falling down. If anything I'd say that Puzzle Bobble is the more similar one. The point is to get 4 or more of the same colour to connect. The tricky part is getting more than 4 of the same colour. When you do that's when it starts adding neutral blockers to the opponents side. If you for instance have 3 yellow at the bottom 3 red on them and 2 yellow ontop of those. And clear the red. The yellow will fall onto the others once the red are clear. And you will get a chain, since you remove both the yellows and reds. This is what tosses neutral blockers onto the opponents side. This is where the game gets a lot more complicated, as people who are good at this game can do large chain events that is meant to clear almost full screens. To counter getting neutral blockers, you need to be clearing on your own side when they are tossing blockers onto you. If you do so by using chain events, you can even accumulate further at what they are tossing at you and throw it back at them instead. This can result in ridiculous matches if both are evenly good, where one simple screwup can cost them the entire game. To complicate things further, every character has a different pattern set of colors that keep coming on rotation, so picking a character matters. Meaning that you also need to get to know your matchup and on how fast, as well as what type of chain clears they might be able to do more often against you or vice versa. And ofcourse, the point of the game is to make sure that the opponents screen is full and they can't place more "blocks" down. And now you know how the game works. Have fun with that madness. It's great fun playing against friends. :)

Seeing Nico get all giddy like this reminds me of a kid in a candy store
Or in this case a kid in an arcade

Well guess Nico Is playing as Kiyru and Majima again as he is now playing the Yakuza Zombie game.
QuizMaster Hanzo I don’t think you know the difference between game engine and game mechanics

And at that moment... Nico realized, how broke he is.
That's what happens when you get hooked into arcade games.

All of the enemies from Kamuro Of The Dead are enemies from the spin-off Yakuza : Dead Souls which was released after Yakuza 4 .
(Check 29:05)
Ringo (chara from Puyopuyo) is a student at *Suzuran* Junior High.
I hope there’s reference to danganronpa...
Finally turns out my hope backfired and Junko is again somehow the mastermind of this game.
I love Nico's new let's play of Virtua Fighter 5.
Man that zombie game really reminds me of a arcade game I loved called Let's Go Jungle
17:20 Aoi used Susato Toss!
.
.
It was super effective!
Nice Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown Episode Nico, it was interesting how you filled it with bits of you playing other games.
So many bad jokes..
Kind Gang leaders lol
1:23:21 don’t ride in front of that woman, she’s so embarrassed..
I love that the first move Aoi went for was the Susato Toss.
17:08: Aoi- “SUSATO TOSS!”
If I remember right that game also features the best Karaoke performance of Majima yet... HEH!
Why do I feel like Lion was gonna say "DANCE WATER DANCE!!"
Omg, same. 😂
Ah ya Fighting Viper time.
*proceeds to drink Pepsi*
Right on time, ah Midnight snacks and NicoB, I could get used to this! 😎
@@JazzyBassy You are correct, sorry, my knowledge of Puyo Puyo is rather limited
>.
I can't believe Nico spent this whole Let's Play episode playing video games! ...Wait a minute.
blue shirt, stringy cheese hair, the name lion.... Seems Dimitri's found his way into this lets play as well!
The game you play judgment was yakuza dead soul it was on ps3
Nico's been watching so much Maximilian Dood he decided to make his own boss rage series.
Every lost Nico losses Picky, he losses a Picky Penguin. RIP.
Greetings video, I see that the arcade will be played.
*gets popcorn*
Watching Picky get knocked out the arena was pretty funny
I like to imagine that the Yakuza series is set in an alternate dimension where Sega won the console wars
1:07:27 so Nico's aware of yakuza dead souls but not the fact that the kamurocho dead souls game's zombies are directly taken from it
Nico, It's 1:00am! I want to go to SLEEP!
R.I.P Picky, a crash test dummy legend that we weren't even aware of til now.
Won’t lie, haven’t been watching this LP since I’m probably gonna play this game myself at some point, but watching Nico play VF5 is just fun. XD
Actually Mr. NicoB, Kamuro Of The Dead is in fact a real spin-off action-adventure survival horror game. It is named: "龍が如く OF THE END
オブ ジ エンド" Rōmaji: "Ryū ga Gotoku OF THE END" Translation: "Like a Dragon of the End." Official Localized Name: "Yakuza: Dead Souls."
In Japan the game was released in the 9th of June, 2011 while in NA, it's release date is March 13, 2012, and in the EU the release date is a few days later at March 16, 2012.
Me at 10pm: time to do this essay I've been procrastinating all day on
Nico: *uploads judgement episode*
Me: ...fuck it, it can wait
I will always remember the day I learned how to deal out butt punishment thanks to NicoB and Sanman.
If all else fails, cheese it!
NICO sleep schedule other relevant words But yeah im gonna have to wait til tomorrow to watch XD at least after tomorrows raid we will be able to time travel then Ill get all the Nico videos I will ever need lol
"Oh god Dural!"
Oh shit it's the blackened! He's back to start another class trial!
I freaking loved playing Puyo Puyo Tetris. Sig was my dude.
Man, watching you play VF5 makes me want to play Tekken again. I wonder if there is a PS4 release or an older version that can be played on PS4.
Honey in that game got popular enough that she was turned into a Sonic character for Sonic the Fighter.

God fucking dammit Nico, you're killing us here...
It's really cool that Puyo Puyo is in this game, but wow Nico, you suck at Puyo Puyo, but the AI, was also kind of super good at the game
The game didn’t tell him how to play. I doubt he played any of the games before, either.
@@djoshawott2850 Puyo Puyo isn't that complicated, like, at all.
Arcadius Dragon Eyes It’s not, but the point is, still.
It’s not hard to understand..but Nicos never played it before so how would he know? Especially with no directions. Instead of telling him he “sucks”, you should help him understand how to play! Just a food for thought :)
Missed opportunity to use Zombie Majima, even him just appearing in the background.
There was actually a unpopular zombie spinoff of yakuza the reason it was unpopular they got rid of the best feature punching people in exchange for shooting in a third person
I thought this was the end of the series for a second lol
The game is 15 chapters long so nope.
We still got a WAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYS to go
