What a fantastic vest!! I love the color / yarn choices, and how you changed up the textures and colors, it really does look painted. Was great seeing the 3 of you at the festival too!!
The vest is great! I love the ‘painting’ of the vest, it looks really neat and like a watercolour. The gifts you each received and gave are very thoughtful and so suited to the person. Thank you for sharing your clean and jerk pics. It’s great to see women who are strong! And can knit too! Fantastic combination.
Thoroughly enjoyed every segment of this richly varied episode from the super-impressive weightlifting through the yarn festival (lovely music selection, btw), only to then discover you saved the best for last. That vest!!!! Brava, Melissa, you're amazing.
Mel, your vlogs are consistently packed with so so much good stuff! Loved the footage of getting ready, then with Selma and Megha at the cozy home and festival, and then That Vest! Styled to perfection and inspiring me to root through my stash for combinations that might become a similar painterly piece. (Btw, I wrote “That Best!” Instead of Vest…seems correct 😂🧶) Happy to see your other projects come to life - all the given, received and purchased skeins are gorgeous!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the vlog, thank you for your nice comment!! This vest is already turning out to be a favorite, I’ve been reaching for it every day since I finished it! Might need to make another one so it doesn’t wear out…
As a New England girl living and knitting on the opposite side of the world, this video really tied at my heart. There’s nothing quite like Vermont in October♥️🍁
LisaR: Your vest is gorgeous ❤ The painterly effect adds so much interest! I miss the days I was lifting every morning -So empowering physically & mentally- Thanks:) as always - I leave your episodes with something I didn't know before,or inspired by what you bring . It never gets old -the three of you form a friendship bc of fiber :) ❤
I loved seeing your lifts! That was my favorite part of going to gym when I went there was the Olympic lifts. The vest turned out wicked 👌🏻 I love your idea behind it with painting colours, plus the colour choices were beautiful. Always love seeing you! 🤗
The vest is uniquely creative and looks like a fun garment to make and ware. Thanks for sharing your trip, knitting friends, and the festival. Well done you.
a few weeks ago, 7 of us local knitters drove over 3 hrs to the Adk Wool & Arts fest in Greenwich, NY [formerly the southern Adk sheep & wool], which is similar in size to Vt S & W--but you had more interesting food [no apple cider donuts at Greenwich this year--shocking!], but we had a few very interesting distillers , and of course tons of beautiful yarn. G'wich is much closer for us than Rhinebeck, and we like the more manageable size. yes, knitting/wool festivals are so good! also, your vest is excellent--i admit i was skeptical abt the colors all combined, but the 'painting' thing works so well!
Thanks for sharing! I’m heading to a fiber fair in Asheville, NC next weekend and now I’m even more excited. Hopefully it’ll be cool enough to wear all the sweaters.
I really enjoyed that you included little bits of your life in this like the weightlifting. It's not something I would have known beyond your passing mention and it's super cool to see you using your body in that way to achieve something you enjoy, in the same way it's cool to watch you using it to dye yarn. And that house you guys shared ❤❤
Thank you for the feedback - I’m never sure whether folks will like the general life stuff or not, I was a little iffy on including it but now I’m glad I did!
I am so happy you three met. I watch all 3 podcasts, although I am a bit behind these days, and you are all wonderful knitters. Your vest is so sweet. As for intarsia, Suzanne Bryan has some good tutorials. I discovered them while working on my TKGA Masters which has a challenging intarsia assignment. Happy knitting!
Oly lifting is exciting! I legit noticed calloused hands from lifting in a previous video but didn’t want to assume you actually lifted weights. She knits and lifts just like me 😊
I try to keep my hands presentable for the videos but you know how it is sometimes! I wonder how many other lifting knitters are out there, I think Marce from Hey Brownberry has posted on IG about lifting too 🥰
You did great with the vlog. Loved the peek into your Olympic lifting! Would love to know how/why you got into that, but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE listening to you talk about yarn and your projects! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for taking us along to the festival Mel. How on earth do u manage not buying everything? Those yarns looked yummy! Love the vest and all the yarny presents. I would love every one of them. Hugs from Shetland xxx
As always a beautiful episode! The 3 of you have given us such different flavours of the same festival. Amazing. Loved your vest and you wear it with great style.
It was so exciting getting to meet you all at the festival! I’m glad you made the trip over to Roma’s shop, hope you enjoyed the sausage, we just enjoyed some this morning! Happy knitting!
Really, really enjoyed this! Thank you for sharing this with us! Love your vest and look forward to seeing the garments you make with your new yarn haul. New sub here. Sending best wishes from Down Under💖💐🌺🌸🇦🇺😎
No wonder your upper body has so much muscle. I actually saw someone wearing a and knit pullover sweater today. It was cute and well loved, worn a lot.
Massachusetts ya! I’m wondering if you have a favorite LYS? I’m in wilmington. I hear about great LYSs in western mass but not so much in the Boston suburbs.
Hey neighbor! I’m just north of Worcester so we’re sort of in the same boat. For workhorse yarns I’ve been going to Another Yarn in Burlington, but I agree there’s no-one stop LYS around here. I did make the trek to Circle of Stitches in Salem for the Harrisville yarn and it was amazing, but getting there was a huuuuuge pain. Have you been to WEBS in person?
Glad I wasn't the only one vlogging at the festival!! Lol. And "Dark like my soul" would totally be right up my alley too!!
What a fantastic vest!! I love the color / yarn choices, and how you changed up the textures and colors, it really does look painted. Was great seeing the 3 of you at the festival too!!
Your vest is lovely. Looks like a sand painting.

That dark red wool! ❤️❤️❤️
Way cool that you knit and snatch! I like to say I ❤to knit and lift (sometimes).
Magnifique, Mélissa! Merci pour votre vidéo. J'ai voir vos ouvrages. 😘☕🥞
❤love your vest. Suits you perfectly.
Thanks for sharing! I’m heading to a fiber fair in Asheville, NC next weekend and now I’m even more excited. Hopefully it’ll be cool enough to wear all the sweaters.
So nice to see you 3 together! Thanks for sharing. Love the vest!

Mel your vest came out awesome, I love it.❤
Thank you 🥰
The marling technique on the vest is awesome. I had a great time at VT Sheep and Wool this year. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great job again. This was fun. Thx
Your vest is a work of art….it DOES look “painted”. Great experiment and vision.

Ooo yes, she has great tutorials - thanks for the suggestion!

I love ❤️ what you did with the vest! So glad you had a great time at the festival.

I feel like I went a little overboard already, but I suppose it could have been worse, haha!
Western MA. has the Fiber Festival of New England at the Eastern States Exposition Nov. 4,5 it’s a really nice festival.
Ooo, I did see this on the calendar and I’ve never been to it… maybe this will be the year? Not like I need more yarn though, that’s for sure 😂
OMG I love your vest, it is so creative and beautiful.
Oh my gosh, I just love your vest. Such a creative and artistic project! Loved your vlog of the festival. Thank you for sharing!
As always a beautiful episode! The 3 of you have given us such different flavours of the same festival. Amazing. Loved your vest and you wear it with great style.
Thank you, I feel like I’ve always struggled to style vests, so your comment means a lot ❤️
Nice trip. Thank you from France
I love Goosey Fibers! I received some yarn a couple months ago . Talented dyer
Beautiful scenery
So jealous! I hope I get to spend a weekend with you gals someday. ❤
Me too Lisa! I feel like we could easily be convinced to come to Spain for one of the great festivals there 😉
@@melmakesstuff done!
It was so exciting getting to meet you all at the festival! I’m glad you made the trip over to Roma’s shop, hope you enjoyed the sausage, we just enjoyed some this morning! Happy knitting!
I am jealous of your overhead squat mobility! Olympic weightlifting is so much fun.
Awww, thanks! When I started I couldn’t overhead squat the barbell so this is a vast improvement 😂
Really, really enjoyed this! Thank you for sharing this with us! Love your vest and look forward to seeing the garments you make with your new yarn haul. New sub here. Sending best wishes from Down Under💖💐🌺🌸🇦🇺😎
Yay, welcome Rhonda!
Ah! I just started lifting and I love it.
Right?! It’s so fun!
Lovely video! Your yarn choices are beautiful. I can’t wait to see what you make!
You are amazing!
Mel, What is the name of the pattern and designer for the vest you made? I’ve been looking for one to knit.
hiya!. Y-this is good masterpiece~)
No wonder your upper body has so much muscle. I actually saw someone wearing a and knit pullover sweater today. It was cute and well loved, worn a lot.

Sweet vest-like Painted Hills ❤ love the Purl texture as well🍁
I just threw my back out watching your weight lifting routine.
LOL! Some days are better than others 😉
Me,😅 too
