Hello Mel, bravo pour la patience et la réussite a modifier model Ralph. Je suis impressionnée...je vous souhaite beaucoup des idées et projets réussis en 2023, portez vous bien🖐️😘
Doing two sleeves as if they are knit flat but in the round with tow steeks. Absolutely brilliant!!!!!
Whenever someone asks for podcast recommendations yours is always the first I give. I love how you give just the right amount of detail, and get me thinking about aspects of this craft I would have otherwise never considered. Happy New Year, and thank you for the inspiring videos!
That’s awesome, thank you for recommending me!
So interesting how you took those three patterns and put them together. This is my favorite podcast as it is so much more than "look what I made"!
You are absolutely master of the master grade knitter! ❣❣❣❣❣❣❣Thank you!
I fell in love with your Chestnut/Wild Rose/Oak mashup, it is absolutely gorgeous. So professionally made and the colors are so beautiful.
Omg the coleen vest is gorgeous...will follow with that...such a beautiful, classic piece you made!
Wow I never thought of cutting and reshaping necklines and armholes the way you did! The fit turned out perfect! 🤩
Congratulations, so beautiful. You are an expert with colourwork and shaping!
Thank you so much for a channel full of the content I love and aspire to. Your Ralph changes are absolutely perfect and it was so helpful to see your behind the scenes process. It is also very helpful when you illustrate some of the hiccups you encounter in your various projects and how you solve them. Thank you and happy knitting for 2023 and beyond.
Girl! You nailed it with winging the Marie wallen colors! Love the look with the acid wash jeans. You inspire me to try colorwork knitting. Thank you for another fab episode. Kind regards, Stephanie from California
I really enjoy your videos. Your projects are always beyond what I think I would attempt so it is great to watch your skill and creativity.
Gorgeous FO’s Mel. I especially love the last one- the colours just sing. ❤
Thanks Lisa! 🥰
The outline looks very kimono reminiscent. Your adventurousness is impressive. Always find your podcasts very informative. Have a wonderful New Year and all the very best for 2023.
Thanks for sharing helpful details about your finished projects. What a clever idea to knit sweater pieces in the round with steeks! The thought of knitting colorwork flat held me back from a few projects I’ve been wanting to try. Your idea has made them suddenly appealing!
Your videos are always so informative! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
A healthy and happy 2023 to you. You are a very fearless knitter magnificent work.
Nice Fair Isle, Melissa. Love from Shetland xxx
Amazing projects - fair isle is something I don't really want to do myself but I find it endlessly fascinating. And you're really making me want to pick something with steeks for my next project!
light bulb moment…two at a time sleeves in fair isle! Mind blown! just bought some Jamiesons , thanks for the tip about sewing the seams!
your MW Mashup construction--brilliant! esp the sleeves done together w/ steeks--wish i'd seen this video a few years ago. and your styling is an added bonus for us viewers :-). Best wishes for a happy & healthy new year!
Thank you for sharing how you fit the garment after knitting it. I am excited to look at my failed knitted sweaters now with an eye to thinking of it as fabric that can be sewed to fit me. Best wishes in 2023! 🎉
Thank you for sharing your expertise and decision making. All the sweaters are impressive. Your podcasts are as fine as your knitting. Happy new Year.
ok, i'm 16s in and I HAVE to say: I love your look in this video: the shirt, the vest, the hair, EVERYTHING!
ah! it looks great and I love it! (ok, now I go watch the rest of the video ^^)
Incredible on how you modified the sweater vest with sewing and cutting the fabric....love the engineering of knitwear....
It’s amazing how the thought process can change if you just start thinking of it as fabric, instead of just knitting. I’m excited to do this more often!
I only found your podcast a few weeks ago and I love the way you approach knitting and podcasting. Your knitting is fantastic. I especially love how you fixed the pulling up effect on your Ralph vest. I have noticed a lot of colourwork v necks do that peak effect at the centre front. Great idea of yours to remedy that issue.
amazing. I am looking forward to going back in time. Thank you to Megha for the intro.
Congrats on meeting all of your self-deadlines and on such successful and satisfying projects! The Marie Walin mashup-all-over colorwork sweater is particularly so stunning-the dominant pink floral motif really reminds me of cherry blossoms. Also, the way you demonstrated the cutting process to cull fabric from the vest is inspiring - you made something extremely scary look quite doable. Happy new year!
I just discovered your channel and I am catching up with all of them (loved the tip about the cables popping more on 3ply and lace more on 2ply), I love your way of explaining things and your very calm voice. But I thought I HAD to leave a comment when I saw that mashup of MW pattern, I audibly gasped. What a beauty !!! The colourwork, ease, fit, it's all exquisite. I am going to tackle a Marie Wallin pattern soon and someone left a comment on my channel recommending to check you out for colourwork tips, and I am so glad they did ! Thank you for sharing all your projects and wisdom :D
You are amazing.
Thanks for the great idea on how to take in at shoulder seams.
I have a vest I'd like to fix that way. I like how free form you work, it's inspiring.
yay love to see it!!! all your projects look amazing as usual, especially loving the vests.
You are such an adventurous knitter and to do all that cutting and shaping and combining with fingering weight all over colourwork gives me hives just thinking about it! Lol! Amazing sweaters! Happy New Year
So interesting as always. I love all the detail you give.
Love all your makes Mel. Have a wonderful Happy and Healthy New Year!!!
This was a very informative episode! I learned a lot. Your creativity is inspiring and gives us the permission to experiment with design. Thanks.
Mel, your Raph vest is just absolute perfection!!! It looks and fit amazing on you and the lenght is just surprisingly fabulous looking! The modifications you made are absolutely what makes it work. Yay for being fearless, smart and going for it! I looooove it so much!!!
Thank you!!! 🥰
Thanks for sharing Mel. You’re sooooo talented and informative. I’m not a color work person and my climate is super warm but I just love watching all your makes. Love the thrifted jeans 🥰 and love your ingenuity too with non end weaving. Happy new year 🥳
I knew I’d seen your name before on Ravelry when I was looking for warm-weather garments - I love your style too! I just went and added you in my friends list so I can keep up with your makes 🥰
Wow! These sweaters are amazing!💗
Your MW Mashup is perfection! I love it and am so jealous, colours are my jam too! You are an inspiration to me to get going on some of the Shetland style colour work sweaters I really want to do too
Yay! Go for it!!
Beautiful knits!
Amazing as always!!!!!
The corrugated rib flare out drives me crazy. Thanks for the tip
Wow, all beautiful but the MW mashup is stunning!
❤️❤️❤️
Your wealth of knowledge, sense of style and artistry make of you an incredibly talented maker. Thank you for sharing! Definitely a wonderful program! I will recommend your channel for sure!
Congratulations on your finish of 2022!
Thank you!!
You are a brave knitter! I feel inspired by your willingness to change patterns to fit your needs. So cool.
A great episode, Mel, thanks for all the good ideas. I have poor results with small diameter color work, so I am absolutely going to copy the two at a time steeked arms.I thrifted a men's traditional Fair Isle vest, button front. It was too small for the intended recipient, and too large for me, but I am inspired to experiment further and see what I can do to make it work for me.
What a good idea to experiment on a thrifted vest! I agree, small circumference colorwork is a bit of a pain - there’s a reason you don’t see me making many colorwork mittens or socks 😉
Loved this episode as always! Your Marie Wallin mash-up is perfect - I want one just like it! Very inspiring and so informative, you always help me to think through different knitting decisions and modification options. Happy New Year!
Oh my goodness Mel! How fast do you colorwork 🤣🤣🤣 I absolutely need a video of you doing colorwork knitting! Your FOs are brilliant (as always) and so so inspiring! I love the MW mashup… the color and fit are just spectacular!
Thanks so much Megha ❤️
I really like your Ralph adaptation., well done! And also your MW Mashup is gorgeous.
Really appreciate your thoughtful approach, experimentation, and sharing your decision making process (and videos!) along the journey (also that you create and share patterns that add variety to podcast land). I always look forward to watching- thank you for all the care and knowledge you share.
Mind blown with each of your videos. I learn so much and the boundaries of my knitting possibilities expand ! Hope you continue your experiment s in the new year. ❤
So happy I found your podcast this year. I’m always inspired by your projects. Loved everything you showed, and more importantly (at least to me 😊) I learned a few more things from watching. Happy New Year!
Oh my goodness your Marie Wallin mash-up sweater is so beautiful!
I just started my first fingering weight colorwork (not all over thank goodness) sweater for the new year. Have you ever made a Jennifer Beale pattern? I find her colorwork/texture combos so enticing!
Thank you! I haven’t made any of Jennifer Beale’s patterns yet, but have been eyeing up a number of them - hopefully soon!
Your final 4 turned out absolutely fabulous! You’re so inspiring with your making!
I absolutely love how you made your vest work for you. It looks fab. I love steeking and I’ve been known to chop at necklines and armholes so that they fit better. Happy New Year.
Wow! Mel you make beautiful stuff and you know so much useful stuff! Your podcast is by far my favourite. Thanks so much and Happy new year! I can’t wait to see what you do in 2023!
I have binged all of your past episodes over the holidays. Amazing podcast. Unique design choices, tips for even the most experienced knitters, and just the right mix of humility and confidence keeps it real. Can’t wait to follow your makes in 2023!
Thank you so much - and welcome! So happy you’re enjoying the back catalogue too 😊
Thank you for another wonderful podcast :) Watching twice as always.
I think the colorwork vest might be a bit more versatile with pockets. This way when you wear it you could have your hands in them, making it look more casual, no matter what you wear underneath. Love what you did with the neckline! I was looking at that pattern and the weird pulling at the neck center turned me away from it initially. I did not know how to fix it :)
Chestnut is beautiful!! Perfect fit!
Looking forward to the japanese pattern series
Happy New Year!
Thank you, that’s a great suggestion about the pockets - and I definitely have enough yarn since I didn’t do the sleeves! Hope you have a happy new year!
You’re great for explaining all of this. It’s complicated. Also glad that you have sewing experience to use. It makes it more accessible for us lesser knitters. Have you ever used your serger before cutting away extra knit fabric. I keep wanting to try it on a ridiculously too big sweater. Thanks again. Deb
I haven’t used my serger for that, although I’m sure it would work just fine. I usually just do a narrow zigzag on my regular machine because I feel like I have a bit more control that way.
I am super impressed with all 4 of your finished FO's considering 2 of them are full on colourwork. All of them are fantastic. I love how experimental you are with shape, cut, yarn, colour, etc. as it's inspiring. I now want to relook at projects I may have rejected before for whatever reason, and then if i can slightly rework it to my taste. I love your podcasts as I always come away with so many ideas buzzing away in my head. Thank you and Happy New Year.
Another great one! I love how you go into detail regarding your alteration process. Like you I am learning to stop the process until i have worked out the next stage, instead of pushing on and not liking the finished look. Please continue to make these wonderful videos!!
Your Marie Wallin mashup is a triumph Mel - it fits you so well and the colours are wonderful 👏🙌
Thank you so much Ailie!!
Amazing work and exceptional podcast quality, as usual. Happy new year, Mel
What is a steek? All the garments are beautiful and so well made
Happy new year 🤩🌺
Love your fashion sense, Mel, and sense of adventure. Inspiring. Happy New Year!
Your chestnut mash up is GLORIOUS!
Happy New Year! I always enjoy hearing you talk us through your thought process and the steps you take to alter your knitting. Also, I love the acid wash jeans with your sweater tucked in.
Mel, you are a genius! love your projects in this episode. Happy New year!
👍
I have such respect for the way your mind works!👍🏻🧶🤩
