    Great info. Hey Cory, when I release my parking brake, the headlights DRL no longer automatically turn on on 2000 Jetta. Any ideas? 🌷

      James Hershberger - It could be relay 173 which is located inside the car on the driver's side. Do your DRL come on when you turn your headlights on?

      @@Corysdiyauto yes. Headlights work fine when headlights switch is on. Thanks

      Could possibly be the relay. These old relays don't last forever!

    What was the issue you were having that made you replace this? In my case the daytime running lights do not work anymore.

    • @Corysdiyauto
      @Corysdiyauto  5 лет назад

      wizbang16 - Yes, the daytime running lights are tied into that switch. My brake light didn't illuminate on the instrument cluster when the parking brake was engaged either.

      @@Corysdiyauto When I engage the parking brake the "brake" light does light up on my dash. When I disengage the parking brake the running lights do NOT come on. It has to be the headlight switch or handbrake switch but I'm not sure which.

      @@wizbang16 - Alright, It's not your parking brake switch. There's a relay #173 that could be bad, or a faulty headlight switch.

    My parking brake light wont turn off when its not engaged and i get a constant beeping whenever im moving. Wondering if this could be the issue...

      drew Obrien - Yes, the switch could be sticking? You won't know until you get in there and look at it.

      @@Corysdiyauto oh it was super easy to look, took 5 mins (thanks to the vid lol). It definitely isnt sticking and i cant see any kind of damage. Picked up a new one cheap just to see.

      @@drewobrien1483 this is a stupid question, but if I just removed the switch, didn’t even bother to replace it, do you think the beeping would still occur?

      @@lexieurbina8063 Hey Lexie, sorry this is so late, im not sure if you still have the car or still encountering the problem. I believe there is a method that you can bypass the switch to get rid of the beeping. Im currently encountering this issue in my 2006 Golf MK4 and looking at either replacing the switch or bypassing it.

      Oisin Mcloughlin - Your brake fluid might be low or your switch could be bad. I assume that you don't have any other lights on.
