What I hate more than the dislikes, is the fact that they don't say why. I gave my Mother a car for her birthday a few years back... got dislikes for doing it!!!???
I had the same issue with our 2002 Beetle. EPC light was on and had no brake lights. It turned out to be a bad brake light switch. There are four wires connected to the switch and one of those wires comes from fuse #13, goes through the switch, and then goes to the ECM. I had to inform the dealer of this. They told my wife that the ECM and instrument cluster were bad and it was going to cost $1650 to replace. They charged us $125 diagnostic fee. Luckily someone told my wife that her brake lights weren't working, on the way home from the dealer and I remembered seeing this video. I should have checked the brake lights when I first watched this video when I started researching why the EPC light could come on. That would have saved me $125. You did save me $1650, though, and I thank you for that.
Good to hear you didn't end up with a $1600 bill. Sometimes shops don't take a long enough look at something during an "estimate / diagnosis). We had a guy that was quoted $3000 for a clutch job... turned out to be a broken clutch master cylinder. Oy Vey
The service manager even told me that the mechanic had noted that it was showing a fault code for the brake light circuit. We took it to the dealer thinking they're the experts and have seen every problem that these older Beetles have had. Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to post these videos. You're the man!
Its been a while. Hope you are doing well in the new year. Thanks for the stickers! EPC on, in limp mode, made it home. Next day, no EPC, no limp mode, 20 miles later engine light on, no detectable changes. Very cold out, will scan later. Talk soon. Great vid, THANK YOU THOMAS!
@@EXOVCDS Hi Thomas, thanks for the reply, good to hear you are well. I'm not sure if there is a better way to communicate with you? But the short of it is, I pulled 3 engine fault codes.. Fuel Rail/System Pressure P0087 - 002 - Too Low - Intermittent Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (N276) P2296 - 001 - Short to Plus - Intermittent - MIL ON Bank 1; System Too Lean off Idle P2177 - 001 - - MIL ON This is as far as I got. I did check the plug to eh N276 on top the HPFP and the wires, visually they all look good, and did an output test on N276 and did hear it click with an ON status in VCDS. I suppose a engine running Adv.Measuring block test is in order.? Any tips? This is a 2008 MKV GTI 2.0FSI. Much appreciated, Many beers I owe you! Cheers!
@@timothyohliger5888 sorry about the late reply... had a busy day. Short to plus codes means that the ECM is not "sensing" a voltage on the control wire of the N276. Weak connector contacts or an issue with power to the solenoid need to be ruled out. I'll have a look at a wiring diagram tomorrow and will get back to you. Direct contact via Fkh161 link in the description... click on tool request to send me a message.
@@EXOVCDS Hi again Thomas, I was able to gather more info about my fuel issue, but still have questions. I sent you a direct email with VCDS screen captures.
@@timothyohliger5888 I'm replying to your email and going over my posts here... I noticed a mistake in my earlier reply. Short to + means that the ECM is not seeing a voltage drop when the regulator valve is controlled. More on that in my email reply.
Thank you for mentioning the fuse, that fixed it. I had a loose bulb that kept having issues and when I was taking it out, it was a little difficult because the glass was loose from the housing and so I am guessing the wires caused it to short and blow the fuse! I was already doing so much research to replace my brake light switch .... so thank you! I have already used your other videos to fix my b5 a4 2.8QM.
I first want to say, ignorance is no excuse lol I honestly thought my 02 beetle only had 3 fuses, what a jackazz lol your video helped me and I wanted to say tyvm for your insight..
Just found this useful video, i made the mistake of buying a break pedal switch, which did nothing and only worked as the old one did it still worked the top break light, so that was a waste of money, anyway have just saw this video and went outside and checked it's not a blown fuse, or blow bulbs, do you have any other ideas... lmao. it's never simple when i get a problem. thank you
Sorry about the late reply... youtube put your message in the spam folder. If the top brake light is working, then the bottom should as well. Check the bulbs again and use a test light to confirm / check power to the brake light circuit at the tail light assembly harness plugs. Have someone hold the brake pedal down while you use the test light.
solder would leave the wires too rigid for a flexible environment, non-insulated butt connectors & heat shrink would be the favoured repair in this instance to maintain the wires integrity, they could also require extending.
Love this video by far the most descriptive! And Informative! So my EPC light is kinda weird... if I start my vehicle there is no EPC light until I tap my brakes, would that point to brake light sensor needing replacement? Or should I investigate into the relays under the ECU box. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!
The brake pedal switch has 2 circuits... the ECM monitors both. Brake lights and a "monitor circuit" (ECM monitors / verifies brake pedal operation). If both circuits are on, then the ECM is happy. If the ECM only receives one signal, it knows that there's a problem and turns on the EPC light. Bulbs could be blown, so check them as well. If brake lights work, then it's the "other" circuit in the brake light switch that might be bad. I use a scan tool to check brake pedal switch operation. At rest, the scan tool shows 0 0. when Brakes are applied, it shows 1 1.
I have a VW beetle and have been struggling with the EPC light Intermittently coming on before going into limp mode for the last few weeks. My mechanic couldn't figure out why but he did give me the list of codes that came up. I have the 169955 cruise/brake switch and 00526 Brake light switch codes on. And today someone told me that my lights in the back were out. Do you think if I figure out how to switch the fuse if this could solve the problem? I'm no mechanic, but I'd love to DIY this if possible!
had an issue with the brake light switch on my beetle. the car would stop running randomly while driving. The dealer was no help at all. Tracked it down to a faulty second pole on the brake light switch. Had to modify the switch to make it work. Should be a recall on this switch.
I'm watching more and more of your videos. Always professional. Thanks for posting. I've signed up to your forum page (awaiting moderator approval) Have a 2003 Beetle GLS (just purchased) 69k miles. Air bag light on. Haven't checked around yet but was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I only have a basic scanner. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Izzy
Once I / you know the airbag code... we can move forward. Usually a seat belt buckle code, driver or passenger airbag code... or clock spring / spiral spring. First thing to try is to disconnect & reconnect the component that is flagged... sometimes a bad connection is all that it is.
Thanks for the response. I'll see if my scanner can pick up the air bag codes. Not sure if it's sophisticated enough to read those. I checked with VW for any open recalls on bags-negative. I'll do a visual check under the seats/check for crud in the seat belt latches, etc. If necessary will take to a friends shop and have him scan it. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again, you're a real pal! Izzy
Hello! I have the same problem, the brake lights didn't work, so I replaced the brake switch (I'm not sure if it was faulty or not - but, I had a P0571 - Brake Switch - Implausible Signal - MIL ON Error code so yeah) and I also replaced the brake light bulbs (just the 2 side-ones, not the middle one) and it worked for like a week with the EPC light off from my screen. After a week, the EPC light is again ON, and the brake lights are again not working (all of them: the 2 side-ones and the middle one). I'm pretty sure there are no blown bulbs because the middle one wasn't changed and worked after changing the brake switch, and I don't know how can I destroy a brake switch in just a week. I checked some fuses that are related to brake and they seemed ok. I don't know what could be the problem. From what I've read on the internet it could be something about Cruise Control, a new radio that was set on the car (it is actually the case with my car) or maybe a wiring problem. Any ideas to solve this? Thank you in advance! PS: My car is a 2007 VW Polo 9N3 1.4 16V
Nice videos I have 2002 vw jetta I replaced twice relay on emergency flasher it buzzing on it's owne dosent stop signals work fine an hazard ligths what could be going on thanks.
Could be dirty contacts in the signal switch assembly. You can try to spray "electrical contact cleaner" into the switch assembly at the steering column. If that does not help, then replace the switch. Here's a video of how to replace the switch: ruclips.net/video/ip6doPZfTSA/видео.html Sorry about the noise... youtube can hear the music that is played in the shop, so I have to cover the music with noise.
Question have an 2004 Audi A4 throwing a brake light switch implausible signal code. Replaced switch all lights work no leds lights work properly as they should aswell but the code pops up and throws abs and traction control light it’s very irritated any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
The brake light switch is a 4 wire switch (2 circuits) that has a fuse for each circuit... are both fuses OK? Fuse #7 & #14. S7 - Fuse in fuse holder/relay panel S14 - Fuse in fuse holder/relay panel Also, is the switch installed correctly? Incorrect installation can cause issues. Using a scan tool (Generic OBD2 scan tool can probably not do this)... one can view brake pedal switch (both circuits) activation. Both circuits should register being operated (one after the other) as the pedal is pressed. A long delay between the 1st & 2nd circuit activation, can cause brake light switch faults. If you have a habit of "hovering your foot" over the brake pedal, it could be that the 1st circuit is registered as active, but the second one is still inactive. If fuses & installation are OK, try operating the brake pedal differently, to see if the fault continues to come back. You said "lights work no LEDs lights work properly"... I don't follow.
thank for up date I did try another relay switch with no luck it was still buzzing with it gives no light indication. on my cluster . you said it could be signal switch behind steering column. do have a video on that repair. thanks.
Got a 2009 Jetta and it showing the epc, check engine,a steering wheel, abs, break light and a pic of a car with some waive lines. Can you explain what's going on with my car,it's running.
I don't know... have someone do a "full system scan" (all modules are checked for fault codes, Engine, transmission, ABS etc). Once you have a list of fault codes, I can start to guess as to what the problem might be. It could be as simple as a blown fuse, or more complicated (bad electric steering gear).
Hello. I have a 2010 Volkswagen Passat. Car started shaking when I start up in the mornings and then engine light flashed on and off and then EPC light Came on and now no engine light just EPC as of now… brakes also started grinding? Brake noise is not related. Go to someone who has a VW / Audi scan tool... find a European car repair shop in your area. You can find one by entering your city here: iatn.net/repair Once they have a code... the repair shop can help you.
Hi everyone, I have a golf mk4 Gti . Model 2002 There is a problem in the throttle for the work you have changed but the same thing and you have changed the body throttle. I did not change anything, and after that I changed the O2 I think it was because I started with a 1500 RPM only when I put my foot on the accelerator. However, I have an onboard (EPC) and a few days later I got a crash detector (OBID2 Bluetooth ) shows the code for lines p2128 and p2138. Although I changed the throttle and the same number on it. And on the day discovered something else. When I run an engine to heat a car (RPM) up to 7000 cycles of I do not do anything and when I put my feet on the brake pedal is normal, there are no problems in terms of (RPM) Compression motor cycles and 1000 cycles. But even if I put my feet on the accelerator do not work. When I unplug the brake light switch. The throttle does not work, even though the lights behind a car work well. And then came in the dashboard (ABS) and suspicious action (check) Sometimes it disappears after the holidays are cleared and remains (EPC) >>> If you allow help
My 2004 vw golf has EPC light on. It turns on and off. Third brake light on top doesn’t work when EPC light is on but when EPC light is off brake lights work. What could be the cause?
My car has this light on and starts beeping as soon as I start driving but stops beeping when I come to a stop, I know it's not the maf I just installed a brand new one properly by waiting 10mins whit the battery unplugged, and the throttle body is in good shape and clean

A signal from the brake light switch is needed to "release" the shifter solenoid. So start with the brake light switch... a faulty switch can cause difficulty with shifter release. The other lights should not have any bearing / affect on the EPC system. www.bytpol.cz/wv/ssp_210.pdf

Hey, Thomas, I have a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 automatic transmission and my EPC light and engine light is on for the MAF sensor. Is possible the engine light came first and trips the EPC light? Or do you think they are separate issues?
I've got a 2001 beetle, and at random the EPC and ASR light comes on. Sometimes it runs rough with lose of power, and other times no change. (also another note the ASR button does nothing once lights are on) Turn car off and back on, and lights are off and running fine. Can't really produce the problem but it seems to happen more in turns or hitting bumps. I've seen ideas of gas cap loose, battery cover loose, or throttle body. Thoughts Please. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Not sure... any fault codes? Might be ECM power supply relay if the ECM has no codes stored. Check any of the other control modules for codes... might help point you in the right direction. Merry Christmas to you & yours as well!

no codes my OBD2 can detect. I finds one but has no definition for it. I know there is a vac leak somewhere. BUT here is the update. When the problem occurs ( which is more frequent now ) the system doesn't know the position of the gas pedal. It takes it a few seconds to respond or doesn't respond at all. After a few key ons and off, it's fine. 1st question. could a vac leak cause this - 2nd if not - does this not point to the throttle body? As always - ( oh crank sensor is new - changed it a month ago ) Thank you.
why the caps lock and run ons? seems as if your screaming. CPS has already been changed a month ago. Thank you for your input though, I will check speed sensor again.
My epc light comes on whenever i do long driving at high speeds like 80. It will go away after while it feels like i lose power. Any suggestions. Throttle body?
Scan for fault codes while the light is on. You can read all about EPC in the following manual. www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf As you can see, there are a number of components that make up the EPC system. A sticky brake light switch is a common failure item. The brake light switch has 2 functions, turning the lights on and telling the ECM that the brake pedal is pushed. You can have correctly working brake lights (ON & OFF), but the ECM could receive a constant ON signal... hence, the use of a scan tool, can help find the fault more quickly.

The EPC system features a number of components... usually a code is stored when the EPC light is on. Checking for fault codes does not take long. Check the ECM, ABS module and the TCM (if it's an automatic) for fault codes. You can read about the EPC system here: www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf
I have a 2013 VW Jetta 2.0 S, with the p0304 engine code. "cylinder 4 misfire".. I have replaced the plug, replaced the coil pack due to cracks on the housing and it is still missing. the EPC light and engine light are on. Any suggestions? The car was parked for a week and was doing this when I went to drive it.
Some scanners don't show all codes. I would need to view engine data to have any type of good guesses as to what is wrong. Could be ignition (wire) related, or fuel injector spray? Valve slightly sticking... not sure.
Thomas EXOVCDS Thanks for responding. I disconnected the wire from the plug and there was spark, I also tried removing the plug from the block and plugged it back to the wire but had no spark out of that. and the plug smells like raw fuel as well. I'm going to run a compression test on it tomorrow. What engine info would you need?
If it's only 1 cylinder, then I would just focus on that one (compression test like you are going to do and maybe attach a vacuum gauge to see if the needle stays steady). If it affected more than once cylinder... fuel trim values, fuel pressure, MAF etc... to see if something jumps out. Sometimes, misfire detection flags the wrong cylinder, so check misfire counts for each cylinder and confirm with power balance test / check.

please tell me why sometimes while driving my vw polo EPC lights ON when brake pedal is touched,,but when i stopped the car and i am just pressing and released(pumping)few times-5 or 6 times the pedal brake=then EPC goes away==what is the real problem=brake pedal switch???
The brake pedal switch has 2 circuits that are monitored by the ECM. If one circuit does not switch or takes longer to switch, then the ECM thinks that there is a problem with the switch... this can be verified with a scan tool. As the brake pedal is pressed, the switching values will change from 00 to 11. A lazy switch can stay at 01 if the pedal is held at that position (light pedal pressure)... setting a fault. When you are pumping the pedal (car is not moving), you are moving the pedal farther... causing the 01 to change to 11, because the pedal was moved far enough to switch the second circuit. A good switch will change both circuits fairly early & quickly.
@@EXOVCDS so please tell me,,should i change the switch?? or just to make that pumping when the light is ON with purpose to shut,to turn off EPC lignt?
@@daviddavidovic4178 It's probably a bad / lazy switch... but I can't be sure. Use a scan tool to check for fault codes. If brake pedal switch fault is present, replace the switch.
hey im having huge brake light issue as well, all three out, fuse is good bulbs are good, even replaced brake light switch under the dash. all other lights in my rear work fine except the brake lights, have epc and traction light on. any tips? checking wiring in loom its fine as well.
Remove all the bulbs and use a test light to check for power at all the bulb sockets. Have someone hold the brake pedal down while you test at the sockets. Fuse #13 (10A) is for brake light switch... the Vehicle Electric Control Module is what activates / sends power to the brake lights. Check the module for fault codes... see if you can run output tests in the module, to see if the brake lights can be triggered with a scan tool (I don't remember if it's possible).

Not sure... could be a wheel speed sensor that's causing the ECM / TCM to freak out (thinking that a wheel is moving). If you have a scan tool that can monitor wheel speed, start there. And check for fault codes.

Both sides of the fuse should cause the light to "light-up"... if the light only lights-up on one side of the fuse, then the fuse is blown. Some fuses don't have power when the key is off, or when the key is ON... pulling a fuse and looking at the actual fuse element is sometimes needed / a good idea, if you don't have power at a fuse (power might be restricted to when a switch is turned on or something is activated).
so wait ... EPC comes on from brakes too ? I thought it only meant sever engine issues. My EPC came on but no engine codes to go with it. So i am wondering on the front driver side brake pad the wire for the signal broke .. if that is shorting out could that cause the EPC light too ??
Hey man I’m having a problem last week I got the brake switch code still had brake lights but the epc lights never came on, I went to leave for work and my 04 Audi A4 wouldn’t start without pumping the gas for a few, once the car started the light stayed on but once I shut it off I tried to start it again and it started fine and no epc light, I replaced the brake switch and whenever I cold start it, it’s hesitant and then same thing I turn it off turn it back on and starts fine no epc light, there’s no code coming up and I can’t seem to figure out why it’s doing that. Sorry for the paragraph and if you can help me I’d appreciate it. Forgot to add there’s no other lights on my dash
Depending on what scan tool you are using, there might be a code but your tool can not "see" it. Pumping the gas doesn't do anything aside from open & close the throttle. Brake light switch (4 wire switch) has two circuits... one for the brake lights and one for the ECM. If your brake lights work, it doesn't mean that the other circuit is also working. When it doesn't start, you have to check things like RPM signal, fuel pump activation & pressure, coolant temperature etc. You can read general info about EPC here: www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf
My EPC light is coming on a few minutes after i turn my night time driving lights on. It stays on until I shut them off or turn the ignition off...my code reader finds no faults. Do you have any idea why that's happening?
Thomas EXOVCDS thank you! From what I'm understanding is I'm getting a false code...but, it is still not very specific as to why. When my light comes on I have no change in vehicle performance whatsover. And it will not come on at all unless I turn my driving lights on, but it will turn off once I turn them off whether I'm driving or not. My wiring harness in the trunk did what yours did in the video. But I rewired it and shrink wrapped it. I'm not sure if that could have something to do with this. Also right before this problem happened I changed a burnt out light bulb for my brake lights. It is very peculiar. Do you think it's ok to drive this way if my car is having no performance issues?
Check your brake lights... when you turn the headlights on, the park lights might be feeding into the brake light circuit. When the EPC system detects brake lights are ON when they should not be, it probably triggers the EPC light because of that.
Thomas EXOVCDS you're right. My right break light I replaced sticks on when my lights are on, it doesn't go on and off with the breaks. I'm going to try a new bulb and the break light switch and see if that resolves it...i did switch my left bulb (it worked fine) with my right and then both stayed on and were not activated by the breaks...so that was odd. If the break switch doesn't solve it I'm sure one of my wires is probably in rough shape again.
Hi I have a 2002 vw beetle it has the EPC light on and it will start but not stay running... ? when I mash on the gas after it starts it dies immediately... it will only stay running for about 10 seconds max then shut off... what on earth could it be...? thanks for your time...its throwing codes of p0321...p0130...p0113...p0102...p0135 i'll check these codes out and see if it fixes anything I just had the codes ran
Check for / scan for fault codes... if it happened after you moved fuses, the light should go out by itself (if the fuse is good and the problem is not present).
Like I said... scan for fault codes. EPC = Electronic Power Control... the system has detected a fault. You need to scan the ECM, TCM, ABS to determine what the code is. Once you know the code, we can do some testing. Read this: www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf

I have a 2009 Touareg. It’s telling me check back right brake light. But it was on. I recently replaced the bulb. But my dash keeps saying to check it. Any advise?
Could be that the bulb is not the correct one / amperage draw is different... not sure. Swap the bulb with one from the other side and see if the fault goes to the other side or stays the same. Clearing the stored fault code in the Vehicle Electrics Control module might help. Again, not sure.
How on earth can people give your videos dislikes?? if it's not for them, watch something else. Thank you for all of your hard work.
I have a 2013 Vw beetle and my EPC light keeps coming on. We replace the throttle pedal sensor and it still come on.
I couldn’t get my car out of park, so I check and no fuse was there. I put one in and that did it. Thank you so much.
Strange... what about all the other times that the car was in park?
Thomas EXOVCDS My radio turned off the other day, so I was moving fuses around. I won’t mess with that again.
LOL.. it happens! =)
Happy New Year! Doing well thank you!
Let me know what you find.
@@EXOVCDS Hi Thomas, thanks for the reply, good to hear you are well. I'm not sure if there is a better way to communicate with you? But the short of it is, I pulled 3 engine fault codes..
Fuel Rail/System Pressure
P0087 - 002 - Too Low - Intermittent
Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (N276)
P2296 - 001 - Short to Plus - Intermittent - MIL ON
Bank 1; System Too Lean off Idle
P2177 - 001 - - MIL ON
This is as far as I got.
Thank you for watching!
Saved me a trip to the shop😅👍🏼
Thank you for watching!
I first want to say, ignorance is no excuse lol I honestly thought my 02 beetle only had 3 fuses, what a jackazz lol your video helped me and I wanted to say tyvm for your insight..
If it makes you feel any better... there's lots I don't know about cars myself! Thank you for watching!
Check the bulbs again
and use a test light to confirm / check power to the brake light circuit at the tail light
assembly harness plugs. Have someone hold the brake pedal down while you use the
test light.
Sparkies tape and solder will sort that right out Thomas!
solder would leave the wires too rigid for a flexible environment, non-insulated butt connectors & heat shrink would be the favoured repair in this instance to maintain the wires integrity, they could also require extending.
Fix the lights and see what happens. Could be fuse, could be bulbs, could be brake light switch. I can't tell from here.
had an issue with the brake light switch on my beetle. the car would stop running randomly while driving. The dealer was no help at all. Tracked it down to a faulty second pole on the brake light switch. Had to modify the switch to make it work. Should be a recall on this switch.
Interesting... never seen a brake light switch cause stalling.

Have a 2003 Beetle GLS (just purchased) 69k miles. Air bag light on. Haven't checked around yet but was hoping you could point me in the right direction. I only have a basic scanner. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thomas what does EPC stand for? Transmission wise would be called Electronic Pressure Control Solenoid on our Domestics.
Electronic Power Control or Pedal Control (either is fine)... basically the drive by wire system.

Here's a video of how to replace the switch:

Question have an 2004 Audi A4 throwing a brake light switch implausible signal code. Replaced switch all lights work no leds lights work properly as they should aswell but the code pops up and throws abs and traction control light it’s very irritated any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
The brake light switch is a 4 wire switch (2 circuits) that has a fuse for each circuit... are both fuses OK? Fuse #7 & #14.
S7 - Fuse in fuse holder/relay panel
S14 - Fuse in fuse holder/relay panel
Also, is the switch installed correctly?

Ok thanks for the info, and thanks for responding so soon. Hopefully is nothing major 👍👍👌

PLEASE before i throw it in the shop and it was fixable??? i will send you cash bro!
A signal from the brake light switch is needed to "release" the shifter solenoid. So start with the brake light switch... a faulty switch can cause difficulty with shifter release. The other lights should not have any bearing / affect on the EPC system.

Scan for fault codes while the light is on. You can read all about EPC in the following manual.
www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf
As you can see, there are a number of components that make up the EPC system.

Hello i have Fabia 2 has a problem related to the brake lamps not going on when press brake pedal. I have doing test with VCDS Brak lamps are going on when testing. The other rear lamps are working fine. Please any idea??!
What year? Is the brake light switch at the brake pedal or at the brake master cylinder? If you bridge / bypass the switch, do the brake lights come on?
Adil Taleb ah
I have a 2012 Passat and it just started to show ecp code pop up and sometimes the acceration of the gas pedal but the car slows and acts like it is in neutral. How do i fix this ecp code?
You have an EPC fault... you don't know what code until you scan for fault codes. In my video, I had a brake switch fault... EPC can have other faults. Once you know the fault, you can fix the issue.

@@EXOVCDS what if I got my car scanned for codes but nothing pop up
@@quintaraburley5575 What scan tool are you using. Not all scan tools will show all codes / can read all codes. Did you also scan the ABS & TCM?
I have a automatic 2006 jetta n i replace the light brake switch under the hood because my car doesn't have the switch under the brake pedal and my brake lights still not working and the i check all the fuse and they are fine can u help...
Thanks alot man
My traction control light comes on dashboard but not all time can be fine for a couple of days and one day i will be driving and it will just come on and sometime just sitting at traffic it comes on its audi a4 1.9tdi 2006 b7 could it be brake light switch should i buy genuine switch too ?
Not sure... could be a wheel speed sensor that's causing the ECM / TCM to freak out (thinking that a wheel is moving). If you
have a scan tool that can monitor wheel speed, start there. And check for fault codes.
@@EXOVCDS i will get garage to check it with computer just intermittent fault
If i keep the brake light switch pressed in from under dashbaord the abs and traction light comes on the dashboard is this bad switch then ?
Maybe.
Would this make my car start fine, run for 2 seconds and then shut off?
Immobilizer will usually do that when it does not recognize the key. Try a different key... check all systems for fault codes.
I have an 05 jetta wagon i replace my brakelight switch and my brake lights now come on when my headlights are on. Any ideas?
Check your bulbs... wrong bulbs, installation incorrectly (bridging park & brake circuit) or a ground problem at one of the connectors in the back.
Hey Thomas. my car is skoda roomester 2013 with 1.6 petrol engine, the EPC light is on with allot of vibration and engine shaking with poor acceleration. I took the car to the dealer 3 times and each time there was no fault codes and it seem that no one can help me with this issue. so please can you help be with any solution.
The problem must not be present all the time if the dealer can not find any fault codes... can you scan the engine computer yourself when the problem is happening?
@@EXOVCDS No i cant as i don't have a scan tool its been so annoying the car is UN drivable i had clean the throttle body my self and the problem is still and even worst

Could be a bad throttle body module... I replaced one recently on a mk6. Customer had hard starting, loss of power.
hey dude , i have an audi a1 2015 TFSI recently the EPC Light is on when im like stoping in traffic then when i restart the car its goes off . yesterday i was in the highway 110 Km/h and the EPC light goes on again i ve pulled over and restart the car and its still on and the car vibrate so bad cant even walk with it . what do u think the problem is ? nd thanx
Scan for fault codes... then we both have a better idea of what might be going on.
alright mate , thank you .
bit confused..when the light goes on while testing the fuse, it means the fuse is good or needs to be replace?!
Pad wear wire won't cause EPC light to come on.
the actual wire from the pad is broken and wondering if it could be crossing ... no worries - i will test when i have the car again
You can read general info about EPC here:
www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf
@@EXOVCDS thanks man I appreciate it
Rats. It would have been too easy if it were just the fuse.
My EPC light is coming on a few minutes after i turn my night time driving lights on. It stays on until I shut them off or turn the ignition off...my code reader finds no faults. Do you have any idea why that's happening?
Read through this:
www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf
Not a brake light switch problem. Wrong bulb or sitting wrong.
Not sure... start with checking for fault codes & fuel pressure. Could be a sensor problem, throttle body, fuel pump. Not sure.
few times ago I have move some fuse on my skoda fabia, after that epc lamp switched onWhat should I do?
Check for / scan for fault codes... if it happened after you moved fuses, the light should go out by itself (if the fuse is good and the problem is not present).
It's still on
Like I said... scan for fault codes. EPC = Electronic Power Control... the system has detected a fault. You need to scan the ECM, TCM, ABS to determine what the code is. Once you know the code, we can do some testing. Read this:
www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_210.pdf
Thomas EXOVCDS will try and discuss, thnx

some ugly looking wiring
I'm sorry could you explain A-4 A-3 A-5 I don't get what that means. Sorry
Golf & Jetta platform designation... A1 is 1st generation, A2 is 2nd... etc. Some people say mk1, mk2... etc. Similar but not the same. You can have a mk1 Passat... but that would be a B1 platform. =)
will a bluepoint one work?
Sorry... I don't know what you mean.
will that make the car not start ... but only turn over
In this case no... but there can be other EPC faults that will cause a no start. Scan for fault codes to see if the ECM recognized a fault.
i have it gave the cam shaft position sensor changed it but still nothing ... now it gives me maf sensor and open injectors circuit 1- 6 im new to vw's and im lost lol
Fuel pump relay.
little river floods every time I try to crank it
Sorry... I don't follow. A bad fuel pump relay will set a whole bunch of "open / short" to ground codes and cause the engine to not start.
That's a LED test light right?
No.
Glad you found the problem. All the best.

No... from opening & closing trunk. Wire breaks over time.
