First!
I've been so skeptical about the Paperlike and in the past just got a matte one for my iPad Pro. I finally broke down and got a Paperlike 2. Ok, huge difference. So much better resistance when drawing. Definitely going to get Paperlike for all my future iPads.
@@Pesto-64 Did it decrease display quality at all?
@@t.jquiroz3657 Yes, but not as much as the others. It's worth it for the pencil resistance.
As your RUclips videos are simply wonderful and to a non techie they are fantastic. Much thanks.
Excellent work as always. Very helpful information provided with sincerity - great job Chris!
Love the hoody! Great content, can’t wait to pick up a new 12.9” pro
Great video as usual and that desk looks sick and it resembles the 2018 ipad pro wallpaper 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for this and your honest takes on all the gear you review. I am one that bought and splurged on last year's gear (11 in w/magic keyboard and Apple Pencil) so I'll still maintain those for the foreseeable future. Love your videos btw.
Have had my iPad Pro 2018 for quite some time, want to upgrade it.
You’re spot on about wwdc and external display support. But I suspect it’ll be available to the 2020 too. Thunderbolt will be helpful if they somehow figure out dual monitor support for iPadOS but I have no idea how that would work from a UI perspective. Great honest analysis man thanks!
Thanks for the video! Looking forward to the unboxing.
Very informative and sincere, thanks lot for the video
Not a big enough upgrade for me from the 2020 iPad Pro but definitely really cool. Excited to see what the next gens are like.
Real honest great reviewer 👌
I have the 2018 12.9 & the magic key board + the Apple Pencil 2 love your channel cant wait for you 2 review the new i pad pro Chris 👏🔥💯
Yeah, I’m gonna keep kickin’ the 2018 iPP until WWDC & see what Apple have up their sleeve. I suspect I’ll buy a new 12.9” this summer.
I have thought about buying the 2020 12,9 for a long time but now I really like the 12,9 2021 do you think it’s worth it with the new screen and the m1. And do you think it will open more possibilities closer to Mac OS with the new m1 with the wwdc? Great vid btw
I love your channel so much, was hoping for a live vid last night but what the heck your vids are always awesome
Hi thanks. I think I put out more value when I take some time to be thoughtful and thorough!
So basically, I don't need any of the features you mentioned about the new ipads hahaha. No go then! Great stuff mate!
I actually still have the very first 12.9 iPad Pro from 2015 with original apple pencil. It still works like a champ and i haven't found any limitations in it from and app or functionality standpoint. It is about time for an upgrade tho!
I'm so hyped, going to get the 12.9" version, this will be my first iPad!
I can afford it but I hate the size, I actually prefer 11' however it's really bothering me that 11' has no miniled. What a dilemma.
1tb(16gb ram)?! Or regular one?
Nice! This will be my third iPad, can’t wait!
I’m also going to be getting it! I was gonna go for the 256GB, but after hearing about the 16Gb for the 1Tb version I’m a bit torn...not sure if I want to drop so much
@@t.jquiroz3657 Don’t. Unless you REALLY need it, don’t. 8gb and 16gb won’t make a difference unless you do really heavy video editing. Even so, 8gb is enough.
I’m going to buy this new iPad on Friday you know why. I’ve been waiting for almost 2 years but my first iPad was the iPad 2 so can’t wait for this one. It would be great way to use for graphic design/photography and notes
Still Happy with my ipad pro 11 inch 2nd generation.. fast as hell..
mine is the 4th gen
Mine is “ i cant afford it lol”
Agreed. I always want something newer, faster and shinier. But do I NEED a newer iPad Pro? Fml.
Yes this video was very *Cough* helpful for the Wallet! Nice round out on the new iPad Chris 💪
Haha glad it was useful
Great job bro, keep your videos coming
Thanks Victor! Appreciate you
I love the mic setup you have, is there a video where you talk about that setup?
I think the new iPad thunderbolt port could solve the lagging of the sidecar function. Wireless connected iPad screen is way too chopping as a Cintiq alternative.
Currently on a 10.5” 2017 64gb model. I’ve decided to go to a 12.9” 256gb this year. I tend to keep my devices for quite a while and have been waiting on this upgrade for a bit now. Plan is to keep this 12.9 for many years to come as a laptop replacement, and though I don’t create as much as some, I would appreciate the HDR and higher quality picture, as well as gaming AND being able to directly import and edit my photos from my DSLr would be great too.
My son wants to start making videos, and being able to edit on this would be sweet.
I have the 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” with 1TB. It’s incredible and fulfills all my needs. I really want this new one with all the bells and whistles & M1 Chip but this 2020 one is still so good and works just fine with all the programs I’m using ; including LumaFusion & Photoshop.
Same here, I really would love to have it, but, will it make that much of a difference? mmm not really, at least for now.
@@chokysenge it does certainly make a big.....wait, a huge difference..i am sorry to hear that Julio.
I’m on the 2020 iPad Pro 11 . Still plenty fast !
@@ty-9385 So long as ipadOS is well ipadOS then it won't make much of a difference. Probably best to wait until after WWDC tho to buy
Great review
Thanks for all the info. Great review and great video. Thanks for uploading!
Thanks for watching!
What is the moving spinning thing in your background called. I want it!
You absolutely right. Any ways, thank you very much for your time.
Thanks for watching!
Love ❤️ your wonderful video mate from Oz 🇦🇺👏👏👏
As someone who bought their first iPad Pro on 2017 I’ve been meaning to do an upgrade and with this new announcement I’m definitely in an ordeal ahaha! I use my iPad constantly to draw and play games and with this new display upgrade I’m unsure if I should stick to a 11in or the new display on the 12.9...
I got a job last summmer pretty much as soon as I turned 15, And I draw a lot, I love drawing I started when I was 14, worked on fundamentals and improving faster than I think I should realisticly be, the first thing I want is the new Ipad pro 2021 so I can draw on it and use it for homework and netflix etc. but I cant wait till it comes out, cause i want to draw on it so badddd!!!!!!
Will the 16g of RAM be beneficial at all? I’m consider upgrading from a 2018 ipad pro, but i’m not sure if i’ll need the extra 8g of RAM.
Im getting the 1TB version of the 12.9. It will be nice to be able to edit and work on my Canon R5 pics and Video while I am out in the field. I LOVE using my apple pencil when photo/video editing and with having 2 beefy desktops at home I don't see a need for a laptop.
Impressed with the honest review you gave! I would recommend you to prepare a separate video on comparison between Ipad Air and M1 Ipad pro 11 inch versions discussing about which is genuinely worth buying and for what sort of people.!!
The problem with air is that it starts at 64GB which is definitely not enough. They don’t make a 128GB which is the sweet spot. So you have no choice but to go to 256GB. The problem is the price difference between that one and iPad Pro 128 GB is like $30. So might as well go for the pro.
Love your Awesome Hat!
Hey Chris! new IPAD PRO question... with the Thunderbolt, will you be able to attach & use external storage??
Good review. I like how you cover all the bases like if your this kind of person then yes or no 👍 and some how you get your advertisements in with out being annoying.
Of course I'll have to get it. I'm a junky for electronics. Just had to watch to get your opinion.
I have a 2018 iPad Pro with a hole in the glass front display from an unfortunate drop. I’m definitely buying it lol.
Chris I see exactly what you’re talking about. I have the 3rd gen iPad Pro 12.9 in 256. Would you upgrade to the new m1 iPad Pro? I use mine for basic photo editing and movie, more specifically RUclips watching. I’d appreciate your opinion.
Thank you Chris. I love your reviews, esp this one. Waiting for the iPad Pro 11 to arrive anytime. Well, I decided to upgrade my iPad Air 2 to a new one. It's not easy for me to upgrade easily. =) I was saving for an iPad Air 4 since last year, but I cannot decide fully when to buy it. And I was just thankful that I did not buy it. Until this new iPad Pro 2021 was released... and voila! This is it! I love photography, and this is one thing I finally decided to buy the Pro2021. It's expensive than iPad Air 4 though but it's okay.
I’m coming from the first generation (2015) iPad Pro 12.9... This is a must upgrade for me!
Thanks bro, always honest, great review. Gotta be honest, if you have the 4th gen 12 in (I do) I didn’t see thaaaat great of an appeal to buy the 5th gen. 5g isn’t even that strong here in AR, the speed of the 4th is still really fast, and the pic quality is awesome. If they changed the front camera to the top vs side (landscape mode) then would be worth it. The 6th gen I believe will be more of an upgrade for next year
Will the new 12.9" model work with the Kensington StudioDock? I ask as the dimensions aren't quite the same.
Still debating whether I should upgrade from my 2017 Pro 10.5 or just get a new battery! Kinda bummed that the 11” didn’t get the mini-LED treatment!
Great video. What mic stand is that, and does it extend along the base of the desk and then elbow up? Thanks.
I am happy to hear about m1 in IPad Pro
But I haven’t heard about pro apps like Xcode, Final Cut Pro.
Can we expect these in future event
I subscribed because I love the Broncos cap!
Hi can you tell me whether this has MagSafe charging? Thanks
Dose the thunderbolt cable make this new iPad Pro do the same ad a MacBook in ‘clamshell’ mode?
So should I upgrade from an Ipad Air to a Pro when the Pro comes out? 12.9 inches is pretty big for an ipad. It’s kinda the same size as a laptop screen.
It is a good time for people with older devices to upgrade. I had the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5inch. I already sold it. 12.9 inch iPad Pro M1 here I come. The storage options and cellular is indeed very expensive. I am just going to get the base 12.9 inch model. The screen, thunderbolt, M1 and 128gb is well enough for me
Is thunderbolt still usb C? I don’t know. I have a 2020 12.9. I’m happy with it
Thanks for the info awesome can you please tell me what the name of that spinning thing is in the background would love to purchase one link would be great thanks my friend
Pre ordered the 12.9 inch. First tablet ever 🙌🏾
finally a reason to upgrade my first gen ipad
I bought iPad Pro 11inch 2020 1month ago. Got at 100$ discount from Amazon. Glad I did that. Since except the new m1 chip there is nothing much difference in the new 11inch variant.
really like the thingie that's spinning behind you lol
I really love this I-Pad Pro, especially the 12.9 inch. I am hoping that FCP, and Adobe will work as a stand alone, since you can draw with the Apple Pencil. Love everything about it. Still deciding on teh 1 or TB, but definitely would go with the 16 GB, and the Wi-Fi cellular model, so that I can go online, with out tethering my I-Phone. I would have loved some color choices besides silver or space gray, like those one the new I-Macs. I would get a docking station that I found at Best Buy that would work with the new I-Macs, and MacBooks.
By the way, I like the top of your desk.
Just think about this extra processing and the hushed new neural capacity cores . add that with the upgraded memory and the lidar sensor , which is also on the Latest iphones .
Does that smell like AR readiness ? Is this all for some new Glasses 🧐
Can someone please suggest me if I should upgrade from the 2020 iPad Pro model to the 2021 iPad Pro ? How far would the iPad Pro 2020 go in case of smooth basic operations ?
Thank you
I have a 12.9 3rd Generation iPad Pro (64GB) and I keep running out of space so I was considering upgrading. Now I have to choose between finding a 4th generation with more space or biting the bullet for a 2021 version. @DailyTekk
Still undecided between the imac 24 or ipad 12.9... for one i kinda need a desktop but i also have a mba m1. But i also draw as a hobby and want to upgrade my current ipad lol.
Would buying the 11inch 2021 iPad pro be worth it? I can't afford the bigger screen 😫
I still have the 2016 iPad Pro - I think I will keep it for another year.
I wouldn’t want a 12.9 inch ipad way too big to be carrying around and you don’t get the upgraded screen on the smaller iPad so I will wait.
I have the 2018 iPad Pro and love it. If the 2021 allows me to get more of my day job done (full display support, better file management) and ONLY the 2021 iPad Pro does I might have to upgrade 🤦🏻♂️
I am a freelance translator/writer. I am currently using macbook air mid 2013 for my work. I use it with external monitor, keyboard and mouse, so practically nowadays I use it as CPU. My work includes ms office, web surfing on safari. Not much into video editing or gaming. Now I want to replace it with ipad, so that I can do my regular work plus hobby painting. Is iPad air 4th gen is enough or shall I go for ipad pro? What is your suggestion?
What iPad Pro should I get 2020 or 2021 all be using it to make music on ,drawing, maybe games, videos and it will be my first
What if you just want a really big screen is it still worth the price.
Can you try to use GoPro max to edit and export 5.6k 30fps video ? If this , it will get this. Thanks
I think they got something up there sleeve at WWDC so im getting the 2021 iPad Pro. Plus I haven't had an iPad since 2015.
As someone who’s a media consumption user, would even an older generation Pro model be overkill? Don’t use the productivity apps, just the basic everyday tasks. Would the best bang for my money be with the 2020 air?
Man I'm not even an apple fan boy but your channel is one of my favorites !!
That’s awesome. You’re appreciated.
This guy is probably the most honest Apple reviewer of all time!
He is the best, I think. He’s honest and he’s got a positive vibe.
Dang. Appreciate the support!
Thanks a bunch! Appreciate you!
@@Dailytekk You made a video in 2019 or 2020 about Touch Bar where you answered criticism of the Touch Bar while pointing out all of the great things that it could do. That video epitomizes what is great about your channel. I bought the M1 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar in part because of your video on Touch Bar.
I didn't think about how the 180 degree camera can help with FaceID , good point
Think I am going to upgrade my 2018 12.9", and just hold onto that M1 iPP till whenever that iPad starts to slow down or something :)
Definitely will get the iPad Pro 11 in. because I never owned an iPad before
So should I upgrade from my iPad Air 2
Over/Under on how soon Apple ports their Pro apps to it now ? I think sometime this year. Really wish they would have moved the FaceID cam to the landscape side
Is the screen on the new 12.9’’ IPad Pro better than that on the 2020 iPad Pro?
Will paper like adversely affect the value of the new mini led screen? I use Procreate and would love paper like, but I don’t want anything that would mess with the picture.
I don't think it will. If there's any diffusion the backlight is still higher quality than the standard LCD liquid retina which is already amazing quality.
Hey Chris! Good video, but I think you meant 122 degree field of view instead of 180 degree field of view at 7:08?
Because it was 180 degree field of view... wouldnt the ultra wide photos be kinda creepy? Hahahahaha
ipad pro 2021 will be a beast, hope to get and not have a back order issue like the headphones
Bringing the hardware before the software makes this purchase so difficult for me right now. I mean, the front camera, and screen are great features. But I really wanna see this iPadOS update.
Which comes first the chicken or the egg ? I think you need the hardware first then the software built for it. Thunderbolt Ports,16 GBs of RAM and 2 TBs of storage says FCPX,Logic Pro,Xcode and da Vinci resolve amongst many other professional apps. Do you now understand why they upgraded the specs ? We’re now in laptop,MacBook territory.
@@coralreef909 I mean I had understood. I was speaking personally. I can’t go off a speculation. I know they’re saving a lot for WWDC, but I currently can’t see myself selling my 2020 iPad for a 2021 at this moment. When I see the software comparisons of the 2, then maybe I will.
It would be nice to see Final Cut Pro....however, similar to Adobe and PowerDirector I fear the iPad version will be extremely stripped down and featureless compared to the current version. Hopefully this is not the case.
Buying xdr display for coding.
so would this new screen not look dull outdoors? my ipad pro 2020 12.9 is horrible outdoors (even when cloudy outside) still hard to see the screen.
Still using my IPad Air 2
What I’m hoping for is XCode on iPad.
I bought two of these this year. They are fantastic. Did I "need" two? Hell no, but when has "need" become a decision point with Apple gear?
I have the 2018 12.9” iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard case and I didn’t have a desire to upgrade last year but this year, I’m seriously considering it. However, I saw on Reddit that some people are saying the previous Magic Keyboard cases aren’t compatible with the 2021 iPad Pros because they’re slightly heavier. I really wouldn’t want to have to buy yet another Magic Keyboard case, especially since they don’t have a trade-in value like my iPad would. And frankly the A12X is still pretty much overkill for iPad use but I do use it like a computer. I have a 2020 MacBook Pro but it’s Intel and I am noticing lots of battery drain and inefficiencies with it and it’s why I’m not upgrading it to Big Sur because I’m just concerned it won’t be that great. So I keep migrating back to my iPad Pro. Would love to know your thoughts on whether someone with the 12.9” 2018 model should consider upgrading this year.
U r really interesting blogger 👍🏻
what's that moving metal thing in the back? I want it
Love you hat!
You’ve become my favorite tech channel in the last week. More iPad Pro videos! I’m definitely getting one for artwork and regular work. Plus with divinity 2 coming and whatever they announce at wwdc, I think 2021 will become the year the iPad will become a total device replacement for work, consuming and gaming for a large majority of people.
I already have a M1 Mac Air. And already bought a second gen Apple Pencil. I was waiting for an 11 inch mini led iPad pro. But too bad they only have 12.9 inch version. Contrast is very important for me for media consumption. That's why I bought the iPhone 12 mini rather than iPhone 11 because 12 has OLED panel. I really don't want to pay a huge amount for the 12.9 so I'm really confused as to what to do. And I can't buy the iPad air because of it not having 120hz display because smoothness is another part where I don't want to make any compromises on.
So it basically has the exact specs as the Mac mini. Wish it could run a windows vm and this would be awesome
It definitely could run a windows vm, you probably just have to look for a app that allows you to do that.
Great video - 16GB RAM would be cool - I use my iPad Pro for audio; Samples for instance
Would love Logic on an iPad Pro:-)
