For a guy like myself, who doesn’t know a lot about computers this certainly helped.

@@aswaths1427 Can you confirm if you were able to install extra 16 GB RAM to make it 20 GB? I need some confirmation that Ryzen 3 one is also up-gradable. Can you share which RAM model you bought for compatibility?
I'm in year 11 next year. I would like this laptop to perform well with multiple browser tabs open and multiple windows open. I would also like it to perform well in music production (fl studio), light photoshop and lightroom editing and light video editing. Would this be the right laptop for me, or should I look for another? I also took at look at the HP ENVY - 13-aq1052tu, however I noticed that the base clock speed was 1.6ghz, which I thought would be too slow, I also wouldn't be interested in overclocking (unless it was necessary). I would personally go for the VivoBook, but what's your opinion?
The Ryzen 4500U is marginally better than the Intel 10210U. And will be better for your workload. If you want to do extreme multi-tasking then you would definitely need to add more RAM. So let's say the 4gb on board + 16 gb on the free slot will get you 20GB. A ryzen 4600U laptop will be even better for the kind of workload you mentioned. So see if you can stretch your budget a bit and get something in that performance range.
@@MrMuBot thank you for your response. I just come to watch your video and I had the same questions. I’ve already ordered this computer and my RAM is 8gb. Will that be enough for the kind of workload they mentioned? (Video editing, music production,...)
hi, great video you're vv funny. i just would like to ask about the screen flex when flipping the laptop. is there much strain on the lcd panel when flipping?
Thanks for this review. I noticed your video is very recent (9/17) but to be expected as the product was just announced and put on sale 9/10 here in Tokyo. I was about ready to purchase this laptop as a replacement machine for my wife's somewhat aging ASUS F510UA. But I now hesitate. I like the design, but one thing that bothers me about 4700U (and 4500U) is, the processor is only single core, single-threaded whereas 4800U/4800H are single-core, double-=threaded. In short 8-cores / 8-threads for the Flip 14 versus 8-core/16-threads for other then Flip 14. This is a huge difference. You can get 4800U/4800H machines for prices that are about the same or not much higher. I reckon that for my wife's basic needs like most end users it is enough. Browsing, IM (instant messaging, music, etc.) For myself, I will want a machine that provides performance. My heaviest use case scenarios will probably be for video NLE using an application like Davinci Resolve. I was hoping this machine might even be sufficient for myself as well and buy two, one for the wife and one for myself. Watching your brief demonstration of doing some quick video editing, I can see the experience will not be smooth. So, I am thinking I should look at ASUS' gaming-level of portable laptops like TUF (cheaper) or ROG series. Those have the better performance 4800H / 4900H series of processes along with discrete graphics as well like Radeon's RTX-2060. So, if good enough for gaming, it should be plenty enough for 4K video edits in Davinci Resolve. Do you have any experience or recommendations with the objective of video editing in mind? My thinking is, if it's good enough for gaming, it should be good enough for video editing and rendering which is not nearly as performance demanding as games are. As for the wife, I think perhaps this level o machine should be sufficient. (maybe). The weak color gamut is a no-no for video edits. The table function is, well, somewhat gimmicky but ok. I mean, how often will she use this as a tablet? If that's the case, better to buy a cheap table from Aliexpress or Gearbest or places like that. I am considering AMD-based machines because AMD has truly been offering much better cost/performance at lower prices compared to equivalent Intel machines. For myself, I am also considering AMD's Zen 2 Ryzen-7 4000-series. Your opinion for (1) my wife's replacement machine (F-510UA versus ??) and for myself (ASUS TUF? ROG? Other?) I am partial to ASUS because they are well-supported and represented in Japan. However, there are AMD offerings from others as well, like Lenovo, HP Envy-series, Spectre-series, etc. Oh, and I want to be able to charge over USB-C so that I can easily charge while OTG without carrying around a heavy cluncky AC power brick. Sorry for the long message, but, watching you video triggered a lot of thoughts and reconsideration. Cheers, Jerry. Tokyo, Japan
Yes, a higher core count + dedicate GPU will always be better for 4K video editing. A 2060 will be good enough and should yield better than average results. It also depends on how many effects you put on a video. I think this should be sufficient for your wife as she would be using it for normal tasks. And for you definitely a TUF OR ROG series laptop with 6 core/12 thread or 8 core/16 thread with a 2060/2060 super or 1660 ti would be good. Just check the display s sRGB coverage of the screen before you finalize one. :)
@@MrMuBot Thanks a lot for your feedback. I am not sure on the sRGB color gamut coverage but I think it should be good enough. The model I am considering is the ROGG Zephyrus G15 GA502IV. jp.store.asus.com/store/asusjp/ja_JP/pd/productID.5413371600 As you suggest, it has AMD Ryzen 4800H (8core/16threads) and 2060 Max-Q. None of them will be good. I even reviewed a laptop recently which costs twice the amount and even that couldnt be recommended for artistic works. Better check display tablet options from Wacom or Huion.

@@yashchaudhari2489 Then go with the laptop you mentioned. Better would be something with an even better dedicated GPU. Like 1650 for example. And no matter what you choose you would need to add more RAM anyway as some engg software do need a good amount of RAM + video memory.

Hi. For autocad I will advise you to look into something which has a dedicated GPU on it. Some heavy files can really lag on these on-board GPU solutions.
Thank you it was a great review I'm thinking about getting a version with Ryzen 7 4700u 16gb of ram and a 512 ssd storage would it be good for a computer science student for coding, game development,Linux systems and some gaming ?
Oh, if you're looking to do serious game development which might require a lot of polygons being rendered realtime then I'd suggest to go with something which has dedicated GPU on it. Refrain from the U series and look for a laptop which has 2060/2060 super/1650 super/1660 super GPU options.
Really wonderful review. I just wanted to confirm if this is a metalic build laptop or plastic. And can its build considering its 360 degree last for 3-4 yrs.?

3:39 - I don't believe that's correct. You can have a maximum of 20GB on this motherboard with a 4+16 hybrid configuration, something intel calls a flex mode but AMD just doesn't have a name for it.
I saw that the laptop said at max it can support 12GB of memory. So maybe it's 4+12 or 4+8, considering it can mean 2 things. Couldn't find concrete information on this.
Just cmd ‘wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices’. The board’s capacity is 32GB (16+16), but as 4GB is already soldered, the max you can get is 4+16.

The model you mentioned and this do seem similar in specs and features wise. So yeah about the RAM I'm correct. But no idea of that workaround for adding an external GPU. :)
What about it's build quality nd durability. Also I heard that the service of Asus in India is quite disappointing.I'm confused between MSI, lenovo and this one.
I think the service is decent. My friend had to experience it few months back and he was satisfied. As with all brands, some may have had bad experience too.
Which i5 version is it? Even if it's 10th gen, the 4500U performs just slightly better than that. If price difference is huge then go with the 10th gen laptop i5 variant.

Oh yes. Screen sharing is a pretty common feature throughout all the laptop options.

Yes. But if you need something which has just launched - amzn.to/3xzPeFa

@@MrMuBot yeah bro ! the one which I mentioned also has 1TB HDD so that's enough + 256gb SSD... but price differs...its of 67000... :)

Hello,
I had a few questions
-Can we expand the storage in this laptop and if yes what is the max out capacity ?
- does this comes with MS Office lifetime subscription?
- I am confused between acer swift 3 and this laptop for my office usage with all time AutoCAD and similarl design software work.
Can you suggest which one will be more suitable.?
Hi. For autocad I will advise you to look into something which has a dedicated GPU on it. Some heavy files can really lag on these on-board GPU solutions.
Actually I had a tight budget of under 55-60k so if you could suggest some good laptop it could be of great help

Should I buy this or Lenovo IdeaPad flex 5?
I personally like Asus more but the advantage with the Flex 5 is its power delivery feature via the USB-c port.
