i have upgraded mine upgraded 20GB as i belive it has benefited my 1080p rendering source footage is 4k. so im happy to lose the dual channel preformance. Also helps with games that use over 10gb of ram to run anyway

proxies in what way? the 4700U is a great little power house, but it would depend on what content you want to edit, im doing 1080 renders of videos that go between 2-20minutes and with simple cuts and fades. for this task it has been great color accuracy is something I'm not interested at this point but from what i read the screen isn't very accurate The Glossy style i dont mind too much apart from using the laptop in the afternoons on a couch with the sun behind me, i tend to angle the screen a bit more when i do that to avoid glare

I think your RAM setup (16GB + 4GB) still has better performance than 4GB + 4GB .. I've read about flex mode RAM, you can still get dual channel performance for the first 8GB ,. The remaining 12GB will have single channel performance. Cmiiw

I have 2 4GB sticks in my laptop, one is soldered in. ASUS said that my laptop has a maximum RAM capacity of 12GB. Would it be alright to add a 16GB stick and ran 20GB of RAM instead of the recommended capacity? Would it work? I have an ASUS X515EP laptop. in this instance, i would open and disconnect/remove the battery after that i would connect up power and try and turn on if all is good after that i would reconnect the battery and try again

On the ASUS website it says that this laptop supports up to 16GB of RAM. Since 4GB is already on the board, would anything bad happen if I added a 16GB RAM stick and brought the total up to 20GB? Mine is running 20gb just fine I lose dual channel performance but I was being limited by ram. So single channel performance on most things at 20gb of ram is better than dual @ 8gb

when i reinstalled it i didnt have an issue With the mis-match amount of ram its running in FLEX Mode, "Once you switch on dual channel mode (also called flex mode), it will perform as two 4GB sticks running side by side in optimal performance. The remaining 4GB of the new stick will run in single channel mode. Overall, it's not as fast as using two sticks of the same size, but it's still faster than what you had before." so basically not as good as dual channel, but ok

The maximum capacity for the system (ryzen vivobook flip) is about 33gb, that is why adding a 32gb stick will result in the system not booting up. The best would be adding 16gb.

Then used it for ages with 32gb dimm +integrated 8gb

I can't see any advantage with this, only what is never suggested: we will have mixed kind of RAM, this is not better, 2 slots would be better, with or without soldered RAM, I find, for example, the HP solution just perfect (2 slots).
