Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments! Honestly it was the thought of all the people who enjoy watching my videos that gave me what I needed to battle through all those issues and get this video out 🥰

Well done Vic, it‘s great to see your MK2 back on the road. I think everyone who has gone trough a restauration or major rebuild comes to a point where you want to give up or throw it all away. But when the car is finally running, it‘s all forgiven and forgotten. Enjoy many rides with your beautiful Jag! Regards, Tom

Hi Vic I have really enjoyed your videos, a small tip, If you have ignition problems like those you've just experienced, try the starting at night with the lights out and look at your ht lead, plug leads etc you may see sparks where there shouldn't be any. Thus indicating where the fault lies. I do admire your perseverance !

Isn’t it great when it all comes together, especially for such a wonderful car and engine! I think as an iconic engine, it’s only second to the Merlin in ice motors! Cheers

Good to see the jag up and running Vic, must say was funny watching your frustration with it not running too well, ⁣ 😂but I have to say I have been going through the same thing with the 101 landi I am playing with, and it is very frustrating to say the least, and even though I got it to run this Saturday, it still is only on 4 of the 8 cylinders, but it did put a bit of a smile on mine and my sons face, so keep it up mate, well entertaining 😉

Some suggestions if you'll allow me. Buy Magnacor HT wires and keep the ones you have as s spares in the boot. Magnacor will last forever. Buy a Pertronix entire distributor mechanism if you are not running electronic ignition. NO more points, condenser and dwell settings think you timing light has an advance feature? I static time mine at 7 degrees BTDC and I live at 6,000 feet here in Colorado, USA. There is a trick to relocate the timing mark with a bracket near the top of the engine. Having to look from underneath the car was a huge manufacturing mistake. It requires an assistant to adjust the distributor when the timing is off. I bought a mini sandblasting tool to clean the plugs. It's a huge hassle as you have to clean them extremely well to avoid getting microscopic sand in the engine. I have used a power wire wheel to clean before and others say this might change the structure of the plug?? Keep a spare set of NGK plugs in the boot. I use an Ultrasonic cleaner and a toothbrush to get the plugs looking brand new. I also just bought a mini steam cleaner that will clean most anything. It's good that you are only changing one element at a time. It's easy to get lost in problems when more than one item has been changed. There is a complete Jaguar forum available if other questions arise. I initially thought your cap was cracked. Ah, keep a spare cap and rotor in the car as well. Enjoy; these are a love/hate relationship vehicle. Such a blast to drive, not so much to work on !

From the Electronic Board designers people, everything needs a return path. The reason why those other leads are getting cross-talk is because they are acting as Electrical Return paths. Find your return paths, could of been painted over when did the engine bay.
You altered the Electrical paths in the Engine bay and the Engine was painted. Make a Return lead from a bolt attachment to the Chassis (bare metal) or directly to the Battery and Chassis terminal, that should shove your issue.
Electrically the Block and Head should be connected together though the timing chain cover.

Finally another video, WE have been waiting, stop playing babies and look after you REAL baby (MKII). I just got my engine to fire and needs some tweaking to sound as good as yours, like you I forgot to put the heater pipes in and had to take the carbs off, what a pair of dummies.
Like you I have modified various bits and as always you have to modify something else to get it to fit.

Who needs training and years of experience to be a mechanic?
    Anyone can do it, right?
