Watching your video for the second time now, the clue to your problems lies in the video the engine rebuilders sent you. They had that XK motor purring like a cat, it was sweet, obviously they had set the timing, and you stated they had used your electrical components. Wrong, look again, the plug leads are black, your leads were red. These guys know enough not to trust the owners owners diy leads and just fit their own stuff for the test run! I do admire your efforts though!

Regarding the speed limiter , I have got the same device on an old Daimler ( 420 ) , according to the tech book , it is to protect the gearbox torque converter for overspeed , it is not used on mecanical gearbox model but as you said , we don't drive these old car to the red line !

the major task in verifying the condition of the Auxiliary Enrichment Device (AED) is to ensure that its solenoid disables (cuts off fuel flow to itself ) when the coolant temperature reaches about 50C. you can do this with a multimeter. we can quibble about the richness of the fuel/air mixture and the volume it provides, but those are just details and in practice are of minor importance, or at least of no more importance than how far one pulls on a manual choke knob. :)

I had a terrible experience with SC parts. I bought a gearbox oil cooler pipe for my X300 XJR, which are notoriously hard to find but to some miracle, their website said they had them in stock. Two months later, they still hadn’t arrived with no updates from SC, just them saying they’re on the way from their mysterious supplier whenever I emailed them. Cancelled, got a refund. Time wasters.

From the Electronic Board designers people, everything needs a return path. The reason why those other leads are getting cross-talk is because they are acting as Electrical Return paths. Find your return paths, could of been painted over when did the engine bay. You altered the Electrical paths in the Engine bay and the Engine was painted. Make a Return lead from a bolt attachment to the Chassis (bare metal) or directly to the Battery and Chassis terminal, that should shove your issue. Electrically the Block and Head should be connected together though the timing chain cover. I've heard the Overdrive was an amazing thing, until you need to service it. Why bother with an Over Drive now? Why they just add an extra gear in the gear box - but the Over Drive was a Luxury, and it was.

Hi Vic I have really enjoyed your videos, a small tip, If you have ignition problems like those you've just experienced, try the starting at night with the lights out and look at your ht lead, plug leads etc you may see sparks where there shouldn't be any. Thus indicating where the fault lies. I do admire your perseverance !

I do think its slightly a shame when people obsess over restoration, rather than conservation. Your trim looked fine, its an old car, let it have some patina. Each to their own, but there are so many 'restored' jags out there that loose the character that age and use brings.

Thankyou for reporting on how you went about renovating the seats and lessons learnt. I also would like to share my learning. The original foam I think was a product called Dunlopillo and it was latex. After 50 - 60 years it just crumbles. Todays foam comes in a broad range of densities/ rebound etc with material recommended for seating being a very dense product and a thickness equivalent to the old latex will not compress as much - sitting you higher.. The latex moulding had cores of material taken out. I have not perfected a solution but I'm making up the cushion with a laminate of different density foam. I have different pieces for the perimeter and the centre under the fluted leather. Alternately the foam could be just thinner or I have seen a suggestion of using a hole saw to try to replicate the dunlopillo moulding. Dense foam is quite expensive and cutting it nicely is challenging so I have not tried that. On assembling I found remnant binding between the centre pleated / fluted part and the wire frame. Tying down along with having a smooth curve helps with reducing wrinkles. However I still got wrinkles when using / recycling old leather as it is stretched and has gained shape from previous use as a sagged seat and that could or did not want to be replicated.
