Great videos. Thank you very much . I also have a 1964 3.4L which I bought just to drive and stop me spending all my time working on Spridgets and Minors. However lots of little bits are failing on the Jag so I'm having to do some jobs on it. Hopefully back on the road in a few days.
Vic, Jaguar sprayed both the boot and bonnet hinges in situ when spraying the shell. Body colour is correct if period finish is desired. Official method of engine installation is from the bottom, i.e. remove the front subframe to install or remove. Another anomily, the clutch flexible connects at the top of the cylinder head to a rigid pipe that goes from there, on the engine, to the slave cylinder. There should be a vee shaped bracket that mounts on the two rearmost cylinder head studs which supports the flexible. Not that it makes any operational difference but would have saved making a bracket and welding it to the shell. May I suggest a book, The Original Jaguar MK1/2 by Nigel Thorley which gives details of so many aspects of the MK 2 and historical dates of modifications.
Thanks iareid8255, I didn't know jag sprayed them like that in the factory, I'll check out that book. I didn't like the way jaguar did that clutch line, it wasn't very clean. The car is not matching numbers and has been altered throughout the years so I'm not to concerned about 100% originality
Well done Vic. I've been waiting eagerly, great job all round, can you give a hint of the costs involved ? any change out of 10K cheers Jeremy. Also could you give the spec you went for.
Well done Vic , great job with the video, I had a go at making one myself when I did my clutch its not so good as yours but if you wanted to see its on RUclips, called Jaguar 240 clutch x2 .
@@vicsprojects I was interested to see your engine going in with the carbs on , I was worried about that and ended up putting them on after the engine was back in, which as you know more Faff! If I have to ever do that job again ill try it like how you did it.
Vic mate best pal,.just watched your video on furflex and door rubbers could you let me know where both were purched from please.almost finished total rewire. Thank You Ian Macleod
Pleased for you …smart move outsourcing engine rebuild . Of interest would be costs .. not sure how much detail you would be willing to share but it’s helpful for people contemplating taking projects like this on …
Great content! But- I have questions. Firstly, you need to talk prices, how much spent, how much saved taking the engine out-in yourself etc. Its so helpful for the community. Secondly, I take it you're not married? Otherwise how the duck have you got the time for this?!! 😆
Hi Vic. Now that you have the shiny engine in have you given any thought to replacing the fuel lines? be a shame to have that Ethanol melt all the rubber and drag it into your carbs and engine. Or have you already changed the fuel lines. If so what did you use? GN
Hi GN good shout. I did all the hard lines and some of the gaskets, there is not actually much rubber in the system. The only one left is the ones on the pump
Hearing the roar is the reward.
After that great engine bay paint job, add one reco'd engine! Looks awesome. Great job.
Love your humour in your vids. I have a 61 3.4 . Rebuilding the front subframe, replacing the rotten crossmember and chassis legs.
Thanks! Good luck with your car
Thanks Bro enjoy all your videos. I have a mark 1 i have no idea about and need to do all the same, keep them coming thanks
Wonderful. I have been waiting to see the engine back 😊

Thanks, have fun with the mk2 and hopefully some of my videos help with the jobs you need to do

Nice one Chris, I just had a look. Interesting your car has that really long nose off the back of the gearbox

Hi Ian, the video on those has the seals company in the description, I'll have to dig out the furflex one and add it. Good luck with yours!

Married with a toddler and a baby... hence why it takes me 6 months to make a video! I'm planning on doing one on costs after the first drive video

What modifications have you made to use it as an everyday car?
On the just making it work stage! I'll do a video later on going through all the key bits
Should have jacked the back of the car up, as high as possible it would have made it easier believe me
