This was created for the 35th anniversary edition Yoga Flame cabinet. It will be the exact same process on the Shinku Hadoken cabinet. Others have used this guide to softmod MvC, MvC2 and BigBlue, but for these cabs it's more of a general guide and may need extra steps before it works
Short answer: No Long answer: If you format your microSD card as internal (tablet) storage and force apps to SD storage in settings, then you can install to the SD card. Unfortunately this causes multiple issues like double boot, various errors and poor stability (getting worse as the more you have on the SD card. In my experience the best way is to format the microSD as portable storage and install apps to the internal storage. You can put RetroArch games on the portable microSD even though RetroArch is installed to internal memory. Why do you want all 3 extra APKs and RetroArch? The X-Men Vs Street Fighter only comes with with 2 extra games not already on Capcom Vs Street Fighter and I don't really care for these 2 games anyway. Some people only have RetroArch and the original APK installed. You can actually squeeze the 3 extra APKs and RetroArch onto the internal memory. I haven't done this because storage generally works better and lasts longer, if it isn't too full. This is why I suggest only installing up to 2 extra APKs if installing RetroArch. It doesn't really matter which cabinet APKs you choose to install, but obviously you'll want to choose a different wallpaper.
thank you so much for your in sight my last question is >>>>>>>>> if i already installed all the APK cabs do i just delete the one then install retroarch or do i have to do a factory rest and then do the softmod!!!???@@THE-ADM-2

MvC2 cab is running an older version of Android (pre Android 10) and requires older software. Hence why you needed an older version of Nova Launcher. You'll need an older buttons mapper APK if you want to map a home button. Look for pre Android 10 versions of software. Other than sourcing older software the rest of the guide should work fine.
After i was done it was brilliant. The next day i was unable to launch retroarch due to the internal memory full? Deleted all the extra cabs apart from the yoga and retroaech. I have 110mb free now ( and slowly decreasing) any reason why the memory is getting full?
You might have thumbnails downloading to your limited internal storage. Thumbnails should be set to download to the external MicroSD storage instead. Check your directories. You can change most of the directories over to the MicroSD external storage (but keep cores on the internal storage with RetroArch). ruclips.net/video/m1gkwDe9c7w/видео.htmlsi=Jf-hlddmyXADAh0w **watch from**18:40**** If you still have issues please let us know
I was unable to mod my big blue but have been able to mod my MVC2 cab instead. Flycast for dreamcast runs ok however I do notice framedrops on even some 2D such as Capcom Vs SNK, On alot of the FBA Neo games I am getting noticeable slowdown even more so than when emulating dreamcast. Aliens Vs Predator arcade really struggles especially when in 2 player mode. Do you have any suggestions on how to rectify this or is this an issue with the FBA Neo core via retroarch on this device?
I don't have a MvC2 cab unfortunately. I understand MvC2 currently has some of the most powerful hardware on any Arcade1Up cabinet, but obviously the hardware was never intended to emulate multiple systems and games. I'm sure the original hardware will be able to emulate arcade games and systems up to SNES very well. Dreamcast games will probably struggle. If you want better emulation of Dreamcast and newer systems you'll probably need to modify the hardware, that said playing around with the settings will probably improve the experience. Personally I'm happy with arcade and systems up to SNES as that's my era.
@@THE-ADM-2 I tried running the arcade games I mentioned through a different rom and a MAME core and the performance difference was like night and day so will just choose the relevant core for the games I want to play. Dreamcast I have noticed is running the same as when I ran it via a Fire HD10 tablet a few years back, again I think the performance isnt down to the hardware it the emulator so I am going to try a few different DC emulators out over the next few days as imagine standalone flycast and or Redream will run better than a retroarch core. Interested in knowing which Snes core you would recommend as theres about 10 or 12 different ones I noticed to download.
It takes a long time to upload files to Internet Archive. If you download the .rar file you could always unrar it and then zip it. Try using 7zip to unrar it. As to why the downloadable roms are not popping up in RetroArch, I have no idea. Try uninstalling RetroArch then reinstalling it. You can also try redownloading RetroArch from the link. Remember you need the 32bit version for Android.
Thank you for your help. I noticed that my folder doesn’t have “clrmamepro_nonmerged” folder where can I download that one …. Also should all files be zipped?
thank you so much! will this work on the older cabs.. "ARCADE1UP Street Fighter 2 - Classic 3-in-1" there is no wifi adapter on the old cab, as only 3-games released by arcade1up.
Yeah it's recommended that you use a Micro SD card, but you could use any old USB thumb drive to do the mod. If you use a thumb drive you'll need a usb hub so you can attach the Thumb drive and a keyboard at the same time. (Technically you might be able to use a Bluetooth keyboard or connect a keyboard to the micro USB) I've only tested using SD cards as they are cheap and easy to get ahold of.
have all the apks but nova and daijisho it won't let me install ... he says "there was a problem parsing the package" I also have administrator permissions as performed in your guide, I don't understand how this is possible
Not sure what you mean. I've never had a problem with RetroArch keeping RetroPad inputs. You have to save the configuration after setting it up. By default the config file should save on "Quit." Make sure you "Quit" RetroArch before turning the machine off.
Retroarch works on Simpsons but none of the modded 1up apps in this video work on Simpsons but there are plenty modded 1up apps that work on Simpsons in the droidcade group
I just bought a microSD card reader from Amazon (for £5.99 delivered). Make sure to get a USB3 reader as it makes transferring files much easier. Before buying this I used to use a phone as a card reader, which also works. Some PCs have built in card readers
Not without modification of the original APKs. Easiest solution is to just install APKs with no crossover games, like Yoga Flame & MvC APKs. Then add RetroArch for everything else
@THE-ADM-2 Yeah thats what I did. 2 things you may want to add in a future update if you plan another is using a bluetooth mouse and leaving it connected so no hub or keyboard needed and enabaling developer mode (same as on a cell phone go to about and click 7 times) so that installing apps to SD card can be enabled
@tristang8429 I original tried installing apps to SD card. I tried enabling super admin mode. I tried formatting SD as internal and as external. I tried faster SD cards. Every thing I tried caused stability issues. Mostly double boot, pop up error messages and most annoying RetroArch losing settings (controls, favourites ect.) I recommend only installing APKs to the stock internal memory on Yoga Flame cabinets. People may have more luck than me, but I wouldn't recommend it. I measured the speed of different SD cards and USB thumb drives. SD cards run at about 50-60% the speed of stock memory, this seems to be a limitation of the SD card slot. I think this is what causes the stability issues. Since formatting SD as external and only using for RetroArch files I've had no issues at all. I only made the video after experimenting with all the options. Do you have a Yoga Flame cabinet and have you manage to install APKs to the SD card without any stability issues?
@@tristang8429 You need a usb keyboard to access the setting and turn on Bluetooth in the first place. Once set up you don't really need any mouse or keyboard as the cabinet controls can do everything. If one likes to tinker with the software a lot, then it's maybe worth investing in a Bluetooth mouse/keyboad. I personally wouldn't because we are already pushing the PCB beyond it's intended purpose by modding it. Leaving Bluetooth running too will only add more strain. I'm sure it would be fine (famous last words), I'm just not sure the extra strain is worth the benefit.
@THE-ADM-2 Yeah Ive got the Yoga Flame and currently have Opera Lite and FCE installed to SD. Both load slow but run fine once loaded. My biggest problem so far is finding stand alones that will actually run on it period and then getting them to actually install to SD
thank you so much! will this work on the older cabs.. "ARCADE1UP Street Fighter 2 - Classic 3-in-1" there is no wifi adapter on my old cab, as only 3-games released by arcade1up.
Not tried, but 128GB should be ample for the roms the PCB is able to play. If you want to play more modern games it's better to hardware mod with a Raspberry pi or similar
Because I have a screen recorder running in the background, which uses a lot of resources. Don't worry the sound is fine when used without a screen recorder.
@THE-ADM can you assist me. Everything works until i get to the retroarch. I can't move with keyboard or mouse. The sticks on the Yoga Flame don't work also. It says Robo 0/0.

@@pauldemonte3236the current latest version of FighterDroid2P, Version 1.2.3, RetroArch AutoStart is included with the pack.
You only need to download another version if an update comes out, if you want to run RetroX (as opposed to RetroArch) or if you want to manually start the app every time.
Can anyone help me! Retroarch won't recogny my movements. I can't get to load content.nor on keyboard or using the stick.
Did u figure it out? I'm having the same issue
it won't let me move the 'arcade' roms, when i try it says the file is too big? do you have to format the sd in the cab? I think it makes it sfat32 or whatever and cant accept large files?
Yeah you have to format the SD card in the cabinet, that's in the first part of the video.
thanks, great guide! just one thing, what about the P2 select button?
@@gabrieleiannicelli7716 I've not needed it. I just use the Live button as a select (coin) button for both player 1 and player 2.
If you really want a select button for player 2 you could probably physically install the extra button, or set up a simultaneous combination of buttons to act like a player 2 select button.
Hope this helps
What Arcade 1up cabinets will this work on?
This was created for the 35th anniversary edition Yoga Flame cabinet. It will be the exact same process on the Shinku Hadoken cabinet.
Others have used this guide to softmod MvC, MvC2 and BigBlue, but for these cabs it's more of a general guide and may need extra steps before it works
so i can only have 3 cab APKs (ex. yoga , big blue, MVC) if i decide to run retroarch even if i have lagre SD card??
Short answer: No
Long answer: If you format your microSD card as internal (tablet) storage and force apps to SD storage in settings, then you can install to the SD card.
@@rosendoriojas9366 you can install and delete the cabinet APKs as often as you wish without needing to factory restore.
I installed all 3 APKs first then ater deleted one to make more space for RetroArch.
MvC cab only has a micro usb slot. How can I connect a keyboard?
do you have usbc?
wonder if mine can do this... i have a ultimate mortal kombat 3 1 up arcade, i also have a 4 man castlevania one running a rasberry pi with 40k plus games on it would like to play with my UMK3 one without putting a pi or a game machine into.
No, not easily anyway. You need an Android based cabinet, unfortunately no MK cabinet is currently Android based.
@THE-ADM-2 then ill just stick with my 4 man castlevania cabinet running Raspberry pi
hey @THE-ADM
i have the mvc2 cab and downloaded the files from the description, but i want to add the games from yoga flame to the cab.
ive downloaded your files frm internet archive.
which version of yoga flame and from which folder (modified, original or precloned apks) should i use that will work with the files from this vid.
thanks in advance
Use the precloned as it will simply load without any further steps.
I was able to download the files from archive. After extracting it seems the retroarch file was empty with nothing inside it. Any help on that please?
They are in the Final Burn Neo package which is a separate download
this may be a dumb question but I just got the MvC2 cabinet, will this guide work with my cabinet or does it have to be a specific cab? also i noticed that the soft mod pack came with yoga flame, do i need to install that also ? you never mentioned it in the vid im sure.

Are these working on a Street fighter 2 champion arcade1up cab?
Any reason why I don’t get a core list when performing a “load core” ??? Thank you !!
After Load core, did you go to Download a core, there should be a long list to choose from?
Yes list is not poppin up …… also can I find your arcade pack vol 2 in a zip file not a rar If not it’s ok. Thank you
It takes a long time to upload files to Internet Archive.
I also notice my fbereo folder only has luinex and windows folders no android is that a problem. ??
Can you release a softmod for the Bandai Namco Legacy Pac-Mania cabinet? I want to put Ms. Pac-Man on it.
I can’t seem to download or figure out what to download for the roms pack on neo
Search Google and Internet Archive
Do I need to connect the cab to the internet to update all that retroarch stuff?
Yes
thank you so much! will this work on the older cabs.. "ARCADE1UP Street Fighter 2 - Classic 3-in-1"
there is no wifi adapter on the old cab, as only 3-games released by arcade1up.
No this only works on Android cabinets (most of them to some degree), the earlier cabinets didn't run on Android
Will this work on big blue or old mortal kombat
So do i buy a new micro sd card or use the one in the arcade that came with it
It doesnt come with one. The slot is empty
Yeah it's recommended that you use a Micro SD card, but you could use any old USB thumb drive to do the mod. If you use a thumb drive you'll need a usb hub so you can attach the Thumb drive and a keyboard at the same time. (Technically you might be able to use a Bluetooth keyboard or connect a keyboard to the micro USB)
I've only tested using SD cards as they are cheap and easy to get ahold of.
have all the apks but nova and daijisho it won't let me install ... he says "there was a problem parsing the package" I also have administrator permissions as performed in your guide, I don't understand how this is possible
Are you using the APKs included in the pack? That error can mean the APKs were cloned incorrectly.
You could try a factory reset and start again.
@@THE-ADM-2 i will try!
@@THE-ADM-2 I did the reset but it gives me the same error: "there was a problem parsing the package" what can I do?

Does it work for acrade1up's casinocade? I would like to add nore slot games
I don't think so. This works with most android cabinets. I don't have a casino cab and don't know much about them.
No
it worked! the only thing that sucks is that retro arch doesnt keep inputs when turned off but i think there's a solution somewhere
Not sure what you mean. I've never had a problem with RetroArch keeping RetroPad inputs.
You have to save the configuration after setting it up. By default the config file should save on "Quit." Make sure you "Quit" RetroArch before turning the machine off.
@@THE-ADM-2 ah that's what it was
Does this work for Simpsons as well?
Retroarch works on Simpsons but none of the modded 1up apps in this video work on Simpsons but there are plenty modded 1up apps that work on Simpsons in the droidcade group
Thanks for the clarification@@artcadefourtwenty
Can i follow this soft mod to my NBA jam deluxe version ?It is 4 joystick design, how to setup ?tks guy !!
I don't think so, this mod is for android based cabinets only.
Will this work on a street fighter championship cab
Can't do this on killer instant ? Thanks
Is there a MVC2 Apk for arcade1up ??
Where did you get the box with the sd card insert
I just bought a microSD card reader from Amazon (for £5.99 delivered). Make sure to get a USB3 reader as it makes transferring files much easier.
Before buying this I used to use a phone as a card reader, which also works.
Some PCs have built in card readers
Does this work on xmen vs Street fighter? Its the only one they sell here.
Yes and no, some steps might be a little different but it is very doable with extra research.
Is there another way to bring up the menu besides windows and N
I think you can also bring up Android calendar and find settings from there.
There's no known way without a keyboard.
Is there a way to remove the dupes? Theres like 5 dupes between Yoga and Blue and 2 or 3 between MvC and XvSF
Not without modification of the original APKs. Easiest solution is to just install APKs with no crossover games, like Yoga Flame & MvC APKs. Then add RetroArch for everything else
@THE-ADM-2
Yeah thats what I did.
Mostly double boot, pop up error messages and most annoying RetroArch losing settings (controls, favourites ect.)
I recommend only installing APKs to the stock internal memory on Yoga Flame cabinets.
My biggest problem so far is finding stand alones that will actually run on it period and then getting them to actually install to SD
do i have to have the internet connected to the cab ?
No
which Arcade1up does this tutorial work on?
This was created for Yoga Flame cabinet, but much of the video can be applied to other Android based arcade 1up cabinets.
Has anyone successfully tried this with the Big Blue cab?
Many have, although there's a few extra steps. You need to use adb to install APKs on Big Blue.
Hi, any have new link? archive is down

Any luck?
does this work on the mvc cab
Not exactly, but with a few adjustments it's definitely possible. Others have done this, but I don't have a MvC can to test
I can't see your links, it's a shame. Thank you for this tutorial.

@@grc071s no sorry, this mod will only work on Android based cabinets.
Can I use a Card more than 128gigs ?
Not tried, but 128GB should be ample for the roms the PCB is able to play. If you want to play more modern games it's better to hardware mod with a Raspberry pi or similar
does this work for killer instinct as well ?
No this only works on Android based cabinets. Different android based cabinets may have slightly different steps.
Why is the sound so bad in world warrior?
Because I have a screen recorder running in the background, which uses a lot of resources. Don't worry the sound is fine when used without a screen recorder.
Can you play street fighter 3rd strike online with this ???
You can play Street Fighter 3rd Strike and RetroArch supports online, but I haven't tried playing that specific game online.
