    I found out about this today and at first I had questions. Then I saw this video and noticed the Cyclone V chip and I instantly understood. This is a great contribution to the MiSTer community and hopefully the price point will bring more people into it. The DE10 board has been ratcheting up steadily, and quite frankly if mine were to break today, this would probably be my choice rather than another DE10.

    • @livinlicious
      @livinlicious 3 месяца назад +1

      its 160 bucks for everything with all extra boards. I cant get the DE10 board here for less than 280 if lucky.

      @@livinlicious exactly, DE10 prices have been going nowhere but up recently and some places are charging ridiculous markups on top of that. 160 for the Cyclone board alone would be a bargain, but this is a phenomenal deal.

    Watching someone unplug a device, to power it off, always reminds me that connectors have a limited lifespan. The switch on a power cord (shown near the start) is one solution to this.
    A switch on the product would also be nice - but with 2 power connectors on the FPGA board, and a third on the top board, placing a switch would be tricky. Easier to look for a power supply with a switch instead.

    Hey Taki, I think you should have made it clear that this was a clone of the typical de10 nano MiSTER. As a viewer who has a MiSTER, but has not been following the scene, I didn't know from this video what it was; I had to look it up to see if it was some sort of cut back version lacking features or compatibility.
    I think it would behoove you to make it clear in the intro that this is not the case, particularly because Pi in the name of many similar devices directly imply that the guts are based off of the Raspberry Pi.

    I'm having trouble getting component video to work. Everywhere says to toggle the "sync on green" switch, but I don't see that anywhere. Is there something I'm missing?

    I love how there is no USB bridge between the hub and the mainboard.

    Does the Mister Pi resolve the HDMI CEC issues? I have to use a CEC-less adapter to block pin 13 otherwise my soundbar has issues when my original MiSTer is powered off. So I’m curious if your design has removed this problem?

    Never use a fpga system before, but I assume that a lot systems do not have save state and none have fast forward?
    And there is no frontend with boxart and stuff?
    Still looking forward to see how the handheld goes.

      it would detract from the core to run that. what you can do is actually run a program WITHIN the system that can do that. e.g. the amiga has a collection which has what you're talking about, but it's built into the operating system rather than the mister. but mgls are infinitely faster than running a boxart frontend. fast forward doesn't exist, save state doesn't exist in most systems. neither does resolution upscaling. if you want this system because you want to hammer through games on turbo mode and just play with upscaled renders to 4k, it's probably not worth your while. if you want this system because you want a box that accurately recreates real hardware, without latency, over analogue and digital, and with any controller, plugs into real link cables/n64 gameboy expansion peripherals/rumble packs and perfectly syncs audio in parallel etc. etc. - this is for you. it's not for everyone

      @@AlexRoseGames thanks for the details.
      Yea, definitely not getting this.
      Might still get the rumored OLED handheld if it's priced decently.

    22:06 Is anyone having trouble with Favorites script ? I'm just having a black screen saying "press any key to continue" and it sends me back to the MiSTeR main menu.
