You are welcome!
Great video Brett lot of useful info in that one.
Thanks!
Great to see ya, Brutha!
Thanks for tuning in!
I’m just now getting around to watching. This is my most favorite guitar topic. I realize that chord tones, triads, arpeggios, modes etc. are important, but the absolute coolest licks I have in my arsenal have come from mixing and blending the overlapped major and minor positions within keys.
Yep its the most fun you can have on guitar lol!
Wow color coded! Cool man!
Brett, I always learn from you. I am at a point in playing where I am trying to mix major and minor notes after your lesson on finding notes inside chords from a previous lesson here. Its so great to follow you and the new levels you have taken me to in playing. I just wish I could jam with you and show you what I have learned from you. Maybe a clinic in different cities would be an option to consider with others like Marty. I would be willing to pay for a ticket to attend. You have been a great inspiration to me, and am at a point where I can play in front of people and get compliments for my efforts in my progress. I owe it to you and your GREAT lessons, thank you so much, and Merry Christmas to you and your family, and to all who are here. Kevin
Thanks so much man! Yeah a few of us have talked about doing something like that before. Maybe sometime in the near future. Merry Christmas to you as well!
Dude, you're a national treasure.
Lol! Thanks!
Thanks for the great info/demo
Sure thing! Thanks for tuning in!
Thanks Brett!
You are welcome!
But watched it - great help / lesson! Thank you Brett
Thanks for checking it out!
Great video and lesson, thanks
👍👏
Sure thing! Thanks for watching!
your diagrams really helped me remember where the target notes are and what notes you are targeting...GREAT LESSON...WISH I WAS NOT POOR SO I COULD GET YOUR COURSES...
Sweet! Glad they helped! If you can't afford the courses just share the videos to friends! That helps too!
I really like that bend you did on the 3rd string, when rather than going minor 3rd up to major 3rd, you start a half step lower. You said you got it from Eddie, but I've seen it in Hendrix's playing too. In Wind Cries Mary when he's on the F bar chord rooted on the 1st fret, he hammers on the 3rd string from open G to A on the 2nd fret. I always thought it was strange but cool sounding.
Yeah I am sure he got it from somewhere too. Good trick!
Just found you, Great stuff good way to look at the major minor for solos
Thanks Arnold! Glad you like the vids!
Nice strat papa and by f way yur an awesome guitarist I loollllve yur style
I learned from you make lessons very. Mr. Tim as we'll. Hes huge man
Thank ya sir! Nice to see you again! Glad the lessons are helping!
Hey Brett! Welcome!👍😊🎸
Hello!
I`m a day late, but want to say great lesson Brett. thanks for your time.
Glad you liked it! You are welcome!
This guy rules
No you rule!!
Ya Buddy !! 💥
Woooohooooo!
Bret- hopefully this is gonna blow YOUR mind (or at least make you go “oh damn!” 😁) but you brought up more than once in the video that you weren’t sure what that flat 5 move equates to if we’re looking at it from the major perspective...well check this out...if we’re thinking of it as a major box, that same note would be a flat 3rd! 🤯 so it’s actually quite similar to the other minor trick where we add the major 3rd in, but in a major context the flat 3rd becomes the outside/passing tone. Pretty cool the way that works out huh?
Hey thanks so much for this lesson as well as all the other stuff! Been really digging what you do for a long time.
Much love ✌🏼
Ahhhh, yes! Makes sense lol!
Yep. The blue note in the major pentatonic scale is the minor 3rd, which provides the ultimate blues sound, especially when you bend it towards the major 3rd and stop just short. Also, when you play minor pentatonics in a major 12 bar blues, the blue note invokes a slight lydian sound, since it is actually more closely associated with a sharp 4 as opposed to a flat 5 found in locrian. After all it’s in a major key.
Amen
Good stuff.
Thanks!
This channel made me a much better guitar player. My favorite guitar teacher. Boom, dead..stop and drop the mic
Haha! Thanks so much! Glad you like the channel and that it is helping you out!
Dude! Super helpful and totally relevant to where I am at. Loved it. “The major chord is inside the minor pentatonic” yes!
Question: are you using your divided by 13 btr23 here?
On I guess I should read the description! ;)
Haha! All good! I put there down there so I would remember too!
Nice punchy sound
Thanks!
bravo Brett Papa
Thank ya!
@@BrettPapa you master guitar, very very the best
I'm really digging into your library and those "soloing over chords"-stuff. That really is some good s*it mate. Just came to my mind, that to me the 3rd is usually the chord that changes the "story". I don't know, why it came to my mind like that.
Awesome! Thanks for checking them out!! Glad to hear that they are helping!
Oh yeah
Thanks for checking it out. Full course on it coming soon!
Hey Brett! From Chico Ca
WHHHHHHHAAAATTTTTS UP!
Hey Brett! What type of bridge humbucker do you have? Thanks!
I use a Lollar Imperial Low Wind Marshall. Great pickup!!!
I think we’re due another livestream soon!
Yep gearing up to start doing those weekly.
These lessons are the best I have seen! Can someone tell me how to download the PDF? Not very good at this stuff.thank you
Thanks!
How do I download the PDF?
Brett. Great lesson! I have a question. I understand all of this and I know all 5 shapes for pentatonic. My problem is when ever it comes time to solo, my mind goes blank and I never use any of these new concepts, just basic pentatonic. I’m guessing I am not practicing correctly or missing something obvious. How do I develop a catalog of licks in my brain that will come out when I improvise? Thank you sir.
Check out my lessons on mixing the CAGED system with the pentatonic scales. That will help. I also have a website where I show you how to do all of that kind of stuff.
@@BrettPapa Sounds good and Thank you Thank you Thank you! :)
Speaking of the action, my action seems pretty darn high. I can't figure out how to play with low action. I can't bend unless my action is high because when it's low the strings will get in the way and start to slide under my fingers.
Not everyone likes low action. I know a few people who prefer it higher. Whatever works for ya.
Nice one. What was the name of that tom guy you mentioned who loop jams?
Bukovac! Be prepared to be blown away!!
@@BrettPapa seems a good player but is there a loop vid you can recommend?
Is that a alder or ash body on that guitar . And how much does it weigh, if you don’t mind me asking .
I believe that one is Ash.
@@BrettPapa thanks man.
it would help alot if you taked abouth the rythm not just the tones .... you playin 16th's...? triplets ? ectect???but i love you r sound thx!!
Wow that was a long time ago. Good idea I will get something else up that talks about that
I guess the thumbs down 👎 people know everything about music theory already, or are they just jealous haters!
All good! Let go of caring about that a long time ago 😂
Well you know haters gotta hate .they can’t help it , it’s there nature .
Just so you know, Bret, you voice sounds funny in .25 speed (which is the only way I can learn this).
Lol I bet!
How is this something anyone doesn’t understand? Every major has a relative minor, so if I’m playing in C major I’m also playing in Am. Abracadabra, I just mixed major & minor.
What do you want kid a Gold Star to put on your moms fridge? Well done you .
Haha! Well it could be said that way but I think people are referring to how to blend them together in a melodic way. If you already got it down more power to ya!
I believe what he is?doing in the beginning with the flat third and the flat fifth are called slurs?
Am e n
I’m here late - sorry
All good! It will be up forever.
Amen
