- It's been a few weeks since Andrew Middleton last spoke face-to-face with crew members on the Dali. The cargo giant is back at port, and Middleton will be there to give them a hand with whatever they need, two days after their still-damaged vessel returned to port. Middleton plans to board the ship on Wednesday after getting on an access list this week and "find out what they need if there's anything they would like to do if they have access to shore leave," he told WMAR Tuesday.

Crewmember needs to be given a shore leave, a phone call to there love ones back home...to refresh all the stress they encounter for the past weeks on board..
you think they havent been calling their families every day?
I agree. It's disgusting that the FBI confiscated their phones. Imagine the outcry if it happened to an American ship with American crew in a foreign country,
@@mini_mozzer You seem to be an expert of what is going on. Where do you get your information from?
They should let the crew members leave the ship for a few days so they can re-unite with family and friends or just get off the ship for a welcome change of scenery. It would be easy for the authorities to keep track of the crew.
Why can't we get factual answers to common sense questions as opposed to jibberish just because you're there? Like what privileges are allowed per visa holders and term/conditions of worker/seamans contract? I've heard comments ranging from "why are they imprisoned on ship" to their visas have limitations. If someone in the know please give all of the ignorant people the factual and honest info to prevent all of this needless speculation.
I hope they have the option not to be visited should they so choose.
Why can’t they leave ship? And go where they want?
theyre the crew? who else will man the ship?
Because they are foreign nationals responsible for the destruction of large bit of US Infrastructure.
They do not have valid visa's to visit the USA. They can probably walk the pier next to the ship if they need to inspect the ropes and shore service connections; but to go further they need to get a "shore leave" visa.
I am sure that will happen for most of them; but it often takes time. Usually ships arrange for shore leave well before they enter a port. The Accidental collision and resulting investigations have totally disrupted the process.
@@mini_mozzer Normally only part of a ships crew goes on shore leave at a time - they rotate so most people can have some time ashore. Near the port will be a line of businesses that cater to sailors on shore leave - some of these will be bars. Others will be restaurants and various stores that sell various things.
That’s funny we have people crossing the southern border everyday and go where they want what’s the difference?
Is there a way we can donate to assist the crew? They have effectively been imprisoned since the accident.
you know they killed 6 people right
@@mini_mozzer Who's 'they'? It was an accident. Why blame an entire crew of innocent workers. Who would you blame if a tornado wiped out the bridge and killed people?
@@mini_mozzerHow do you know every single crew member was even directly involved in the collision?
@@mini_mozzer People kill people all the time and don't get charged with a crime or convicted of anything. Its only premeditated or gross negligence that gets you charged.
The collision was certianly not premeditated, and there is no public evidence of any gross negligence by anyone at this time.
@@perryallan3524 exactly. im not saying they murdered anyone, but they were definitely incompetent from what ive heard online about them.
Ridiculous. This is a sick scenario that crew members are stuck on a ship due to policy.
For God's sake, let them go ashore!
They should all be arrested and charged with six counts of murder.
This is why you are not a judge. Just a random commenter behind their screen.
With a twisted mind like yours, i'd hate to be in your family.
Would you like to be arrested for a crime your work did and played no major part in?
@@Jhromanjr Closing the exhaust valve that shut down the generator is at the very least gross negligence.
@@Bonjour-World Which had no impact on the collision event as it happened the day (or days) before while the ship was tied to the pier. Mistakes like this happen - and everyone I know has made mistakes.
تأخرو واجد يمكن ٣ شهور تأخير يمكن البضاعة تفسد الي في الحاويات 😡
I do not understand something. If a person carelessly kills another, he will be punished for this, right? This crew of Dali killed six people (albeit not on purpose), destroyed a beautiful bridge and caused enormous damage to the States. And let them go with impunity???? I don't understand this world...
You mean cooks and cleaners on board?
Unfortunate accident happens. No one foresee it coming.
Most crew have nothing to do with it. They just want to make living like everyone of us. I guess everyone understand except you.
