  • There are new developments, eight weeks after Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed. Now that the Dali cargo ship has been moved, crews have been able to open up a 400-foot wide and 50-foot deep part of the shipping channel to restore 24-hour access to the port. The Dali's next destination is Hampton Roads. Angelique Arintok is in studio to explain why the ship will dock here.

Do news people know how to properly write a headline? The one here says the ship "heads" to Norfolk. Present tense. But the story itself says that it WILL head to Norfolk some time in the future.

@oldguydoesstuff120 You don't seriously expect the news media to be literate do you, my brother? Why the worst "journalists" end up reporting news has long been a mystery to me. They could have used the present simple or present continuous tense here with a modifier (e.g. 'the ship heads to Norfolk in 5 weeks' or 'the ship is heading to Norfolk in 5 weeks'), but the use of the present simple without the modifier is misleading, as it implies the action is actually happening right now.

@@lutomson3496 While they were docked the crew member closed the exhaust port. There was a dock worker that talked about the issues they had due that mishap. Before they got underway they switched to another set of breakers, probably thinking the ones they had been using may have suffered some damage. It was that alternate set of breakers that tripped. You should watch esysman, Timbatsea, whattheship, jeffostroff, and minorcanmullet. All good channels that give good information. Most likely there are illegal goods in some of the containers. There is a chance some will be intercepted by customs when they are delivered.
