Adrian, I am loving your journey Boet, not only your getting out there, but also deciphering the ''out there'' itself and how that translates into the systems that work for you. Awesome vehicle.
Thanks Sean! It’s been a lot of work so far to get to this point, and lots to go still! But this project has been very fun, and I can’t wait for what’s to come
that cube yoke is great! So many people have out door showers with no investment in privacy, which really puts me off otherwise great builds, definitely gonna be a great addition when you add water!
Looks good, sure you will get a lot of enjoyment/use out of the EeziAwn products. Just be on the lookout for dust-devils (especially in Kalahari) as I am not too sure about that awning - may become a kite that will never come back. LOL
Very very good outcome!! The fact that U did opt for 3 loadbars to support the RTT is indeed a proof that U are seriouse abt the weight distribution. This is comming togehter beautifully! Keep on rolling :-)
Hi Adrian, Your Hilux Overland setup is coming along nicely! I know the thinking, planning and execution of such a setup is half the fun, other than building it! The most fun is had when you go out and use it! I have done 2 separate trips since my setup Phase 2.0 finalised, and it was a PLEASURE to use. Everything worked as it should have! Looking forward to your future trips!
Excellent job...👍 This is one of the best modifications I have ever seen.. you did a brilliant job.. I really need your experience in this field.. thank you for sharing this with us.. very happy to subscribe to your channel 😁
Cool my friend!! I bought a legend 50 and we went this weekend with Rolling Ryno to the Giyani dry River bed. I really need a canopy and roof top tent ⛺ 😫
Ah crap. Just checked to see if there's another video from you and then realised it's only been 23 hours since the last one. Well, I guess I'm addicted.
Quickly turning into my favourite Hilux build (after my own...just) still waiting for this channel to explode to the number of Subs you deserve. Good stuff 👏
Hi Adrian, when you showed the shower tent, all I could see was you setting up a shot as you entered. While you were inside and the camera still recording, a loin would pop into shot and tear through the thin material and run away with one of your legs... This would get the viewing figures, lol. ATB, Ant 👍🏻😉
The Eeziawn method has yet to fail; they use the highest quality rivets, and as you see here they rivet down and sikaflex the aluminium track down onto the roof; then the roofrack is mounted to the track, they also use 3 feet instead of 2 like Rhino (which distributes the dynamic load across a larger surface area along the track, meaning that each individual rivet takes less strain. They have never seen a failure to date; and that is on all the toughest trails throughout africa and the world. I think the situation with Ronny is certainly an interesting one, because Rivets were never a problem until now, this all stemmed from Tyler Thompsons video, but he had a full hardshell rooftoptent on his cab roofrack, and was doing hard wheeling; which I would never advise anyone to do anyways. My canopy has an incredibly high dynamic load rating on the roof; hence I put my rooftop tent on that. It seems to be an Aussie thing to not run a canopy and this is the side effect of that.
Wow elke dag lyk die Hilux net beter en beter. Can't wait to see it after the "facelift" with winch bull bar extra spots (I recommend Extreme Lights) with their 60w Pencil beam spots with 4080 lumins per spot it is ABSOLUTLY AMAZING...🤠
It may be a little late but there are 2 very important videos I’d say to watch. Both in regards to roof racks attached using rivets to hilux vehicles. One tells a storey of how the rack came away from the vehicle and the other addresses this issue.
Hey Frankie; I appreciate your concern! Eezi Awn has been around for over 30 Years, they have yet to have a roofrack rip out of roof of a vehicle like what happened there in Aus. The fact that Mr Thompson had a hardshell rooftop tent mounted on his roofrack over his cab was already a bad idea; my rooftop tent is mounted to loadbars onto my canopy which has a dynamic load rating over 500kg; so in the case of the front roofrack; you have to load it up pretty significantly to bring it to the point of ripping the roofrack out the roof. Rivets are plenty strong for 99% of regular uses of a roofrack of that size. Sorry if this sounds hyper defensive, I have just gotten this alot recently. Yet for the past 15 years it hasnt been a problem until now. anyways, I am very confident in my Eezi Awn roofrack and how its installed. So you wont be seeing any panic attacks happening here :P
I didn’t realise the majority of the weight was on your canopy, not the rack until I watched a later video. I thought it best to say something rather than hear of another build ruined. Just figured, great vehicle build would be a huge shame.
For sure 👍🏻 plenty people out there aren’t aware of these things to it’s good to bring awareness to it for sure 👌🏻 I learnt a lot from my Jimny days and try keep the weight on the roof down to an absolutely minimum where possible 👍🏻
Excellent build Adrian. Looking very good. I note that so far you haven't added fittings on roof rack for water and fuel cans. Any reason why? Also what is total weight up top at the moment with racks, tent, awning and shower curtains? And can you give breakdown of weight of each piece of kit? Look forward to seeing it in more action. Cheers
Hey Martin, it is unnecessary for me add that weight to the roof, because I have a 55L onboard water tank and an additional 65L fuel tank as well. The weight of the rooftop accessories is in the region of 120kg
I must say i love what you are doing with your Hilux, and the workmanship is looking fantastic. I love camping in my old volvo stationwagon, but i cant wait to build my first real overlander and get off the road! Both a used Land Cruiser or an Hilux has been in my mind, but with that canopy setup the Hilux makes a very compelling argument :) If i may ask, how is it for a taller guy to get in and out of the roof tent, im quite a tall and big guy but the only roof tents i have seen in real life has been the cheaper kind with not much room to get in and lay down. Cheers from Norway!
Thanks so much! It’s been a lot of work up to this point for sure from everyone’s side. If you are taller than 183cm then I think you need to look at the Stealth Rooftoptent from Eeziawn, it pops up a little bit more by the feet, will give you some extra length. Getting on and out is perfectly fine 👌🏻 I’m a big dude and don’t struggle at all. If you’re in Norway, I’m not sure how far Iceland is from you but if you happen to out that side any time visit www.jeppo.is/ maybe you can see one in the flesh or they can give you some advice 👌🏻
Looks good! Are you missing one of the nuts on your front left wheel? Also, what about Rock sliders? If you are doing serious overlanding that might save quite a bit on repairs.
So you do need to decide whether you want the side door open or the shower etc. But I put more practical stuff for when I am driving on that side, like Recovery gear and tools and stuff like that; which I hopefully shouldnt need access to at the same time as a shower :D
I am 6'1 and fit quite comfortably, there is power already run into the tent, so if its really hot I can wire in a 12v socket for a little fan or something. But I have only used this tent in the winter, so I will tell you all about it soon :D
Great build. I'm just wondering how much clearance there is between the bottom of the tent and the roof rack on the cab. My concern is that the tent and roof rack will come into contact with each other on corrugations and axel twisting obstacles. I hope the tent is attached to the cab roof rack as this will definitely break something.
There is a gap between the bottom of the tent and the rack on the cab, you cannot secure it to the car, because the tub and the cab move way too much, and something will break. But I will be watching the powercoating to see if anything touches or rubs, but there seems to be plenty of clearance at the moment
The prices differ quite a bit in each country, so the best is to get in touch with an Eezi Awn dealer near you. You can find them on the website, bit.ly/EeziAwn

Handles it soooooo much better than the Jimny!! It’s definitely heavy and I am upgrading the suspension, but it’s not too bad on the standard suspension
Watching today in Botswana it is a quiet an educating video. October 2024
You editing and style of filming a video I am your fan. Love you from INDIA 🇮🇳🇮🇳

Eezi Awn has great products. The shower cubical is a must
Coming together rather nicely, man!
The hilux is coming out very nice! I miss the Jimny and want one for myself, but I understand your reasons for upsizing.
Thanks for watching after the Jimny, and taking the time to see why I needed to make the change! I appreciate that.
Damn man your hilux is really looking good with this. This is starting to become a really nice build
Coming along brilliantly!!!
Saved my Sunday beer just for this video 🍻The Hilux is looking awesome.
So awesome! I hope it was worth the cold one 👍🏻
that cube yoke is great! So many people have out door showers with no investment in privacy, which really puts me off otherwise great builds, definitely gonna be a great addition when you add water!
Now that is looking good! Great video and looks like an awesome product from Eezi-Awn
Dannnhhhh looks good, if I had a hilux this is exactly how I would made mine
Sorry didn't watch the video dun before commentin.

Beautiful inspirational work this far

Question. Pop rivets to hold the rails on the cab are strong enough?
Yup 👌🏻 12 rivets, rubbers to absorb vibration and then sikaflex to seal the holes and help hold it down
