Wow. The opportunity to see the craftsmanship of the people at Bushtech was fantastic. I knew about their products but I didn’t know about the assembly and the attention to detail. So important to promote SA businesses and invest in SA labour when building an over lander like this.
Adrian, you have carefully orchestrated, with precision, an incredible customized build with Bushtech and their skilled crew, covering all aspects, accessories and detail of your Hilux transformation! Love the colour👏 can’t wait for the next videos completing the final transformation!! You’ve had a vision which will inspire many!
Absolutely love it so far. Especially dust proofing the tub. I remember ASW complaining about that, saying it's one of the biggest problems of ute's used for overlanding.
Simply amazing mate. Bushtechs workmanship and ideas they have for camping setups is so fantastic I was thinking you guys in Africa are ahead of us in Australia with Tub ute setups. Whoah!!
I literally can't wait for each episode to be put on the channel! You are doing an amazing job at taking us along on this build and I can't wait for the rest! And amazing filming and editing work, well done!
Hi Michael thanks for the feedback! I am so glad you are enjoying it! It's been a hell of a lot of work! But definitely have some awesome episodes coming up!
Fantastic work and a great satisfied feeling to see that vehicle turned around. Eagerly waiting for how the roof tent, bumper work will shape up. I hope you are planning to get some flood lights in front? With all the weight you will carry in there it would be crucial to test the suspension on how much it will press the Hilux. Keep going. 👍👍
You and me both! Tomorrow I actually go put on the bumpers and the suspension should happen this week too, so some big episodes coming through for you guys soon!
Hi Adrian, the new build from bushtech is amazing, everything looking so exciting. Can't wait to see your 1st off-road adventure when you get out n about. I'm still waiting here in West Australia for my Jimny to arrive. Looking forward to your great Adventures ahead in the Hi lux.
I will say it again, I really like my Bushtech Canopy. Good choice. I had the outside of the aluminium boxes covered in carpet (same as inside), and on the inside over the side door insulation. Works well with valcro canvas bags for those small items frequently used. Better to do the alternator/solar wiring prior to sealing up the tub. Wasn't easy to remove it to get access. Nice.
@@RoamOverlanding Great stuff, hopefully I'll get my NL25DC solar algorithm update this week. You can ask Frans and Steven at NL for more info on the specific issue if you want. I'll leave it at that. Then I too can use my solar properly. Thank goodness for their warranty, great customer service from NL.
I actually snuck out to the bush this weekend, I didn’t do too much filming, I really needed a bit of a break. But I can confidently say this is going to be an incredible overlanding vehicle for sure!

Excellent videography and edit. A lot of work, and it shows. By the way, grab a spray can of satin black and shoot the edges of the tailgate -- white no longer belongs!
Beautiful cinematography, you are the best on this Continent. Well Done and keep up the great work on your angles, slow mo shots, lighting from 3 sides, and the audio is brilliant. Love your passion man

You doing amazing work man ,I wish could be able to do what you do when I grow up,please do keep up the good work, and thank you for giving us the great content
I have been following your channel for some time. Can't wait for the next post. Several other over landing channels also keep me entertained. Thanks for all the detail and quality videos you are sharing with us. I am missing the pricing part. While looking at your channels I stop go to website to get more info spec and prices. In the case of Bushtech eg. The website is very silent 🤫 on prices even recommended retail prices. But I really value what you are doing. I do camping and did some overlanding to neighboring counties. So looking at what you are doing I can keep on dreaming as overlanding takes lots of time and money 💰. Keep up the good work.
Hey Andre, thats for the feedback! So essentially alot of my partners dont show pricing online because they have dealer networks across the world, and each region has different pricing due to shipping and local tax differences etc. So to protect themselves from people saying "but I saw it here for R10,000" when the price in that area could be R20,000 etc. because of import duties, taxes and shipping costs
Do you have a slight breakdown/summary of the costs involved? Perhaps some of your advice on doing a budget/entry level a mid range and a full spec set up?
I dont have one at the moment; I will be working on a walk around video of the vehicle soon though :) The canopy setup on its own is the best place to start, and then you can add to your canopy as you go. Everything is modular and upgradable which is cool!
Great video, thank you for this, just wondering if you know the height between the floor of the fridge drawer to the top of the hilux tub deck (I.e without the canopy), trying to see if I can sneak in a fridge under a bed lid..

Hey, another great build video! a few Q`s do pop up; 1: What insulation in particular have You used? Reminds meof a closed foam cell. Please elaborate 2; What weight have You gained with this install? & what is the rated weight do the drawers hold fully extended? 3; What is the rated roofload on this canopy & are tracks on top standard? Another huge downfall which I see often on these (ZAR) PickUp-builds is access to the water tank & filler neck. I can see the value of not having a bulk head mounted filler neck (into the canopy) as it may be a source for tampering, but at the very very least extend the filler spout to the "gullwing door opening" so U don`t wet the entire inside when filling. Keep posting, genuinly keen to see where this is heading :-)
Hey Peter, thanks for the questions. So The Insulation is made by a local plastics company its a foam, that its nearly really tough and dense. 2. The weight of this whole setup is around 150-170kg. The Weight capacity of the drawers is in the 100-180kg range I believe. The roofload of this canopy frame exceeds 2 tons, the tracks do come as standard, although not in black. The Filler hole for the tank is easily accessible from the door, just pop a hosepipe inside and fill it up, shut off the hose and pull it out. I did it this weekend and it worked absolutely perfectly fine (I had the same anxiety before actually doing it)
@@RoamOverlanding I would still have made it a priorty to have the fillerneck way more accesible. I used this setup in a rental & it was a pain to say the least. Congrats on the overall progress!! Brgds from 🇳🇴👍
@@peters2860 an extension can easily be added, but wont be worth the effort for me. I will however run a 12V pump to be able to shower and or pull in water if necessary

Hi Ferdie, I would like to do it too; however the companies I partner with, have dealers all around the world. These dealers will all have different prices due to shipping, taxes and duties. So it would be unfair if something costs 10k here and 20k in Australia for example, the dealer would never be able to offer the price they see on my video. So it’s best to contact them directly and find out your pricing 👌🏻
It’s a great setup for sure! Get in touch with @bushtechcanopies to get some pricing. It’s been a while since we did and the prices have changed since then

2 years later, and yet so emotional. Very nice setup.
When you got rid of the Jimny I honestly thought this wont be so good, but really love the Hilux. Cant wait to see it finished
Haha it was very difficult to convince people with a plain white hilux, but I knew what it was going to turn into in the end. 😂
