Just discovered this channel, i really appreciate all the attention to detail & the overlanding setup from the beginning. For someone starting out, this is all the detail & information needed to give me confidence to start my own journey. Ive done solo trips around SA in a normal car & now its time to discover the wilderness, the true beauty of SA! thanks alot!
Hi Adrian! Came across your channel yesterday. Literally watched the whole series of building the ROAM 2.0 and other videos as well. Great content, good vibes and of course the interest in nature gained yourself a new subscriber.
Well done Adrian. Another awesome video. Your vloging skills are to be admired. What a complete all round package - the build, the travels, the videoing - probably the best content I have viewed on YT. A great end to what has been a crazy year. Thanks for brightening all our lives in lockdown. Have a great New Year and look forward to your 2021 adventures. All the best from UK.
Mike! Thank you so much for tuning in and enjoying my shows! Without them, I think I would have gone crazy! It’s been a fantastic project to channel my energy into while we’ve been unable to travel for so long!
Hello Adrian! Do you know what I love the most about your truck?. Its the color which makes it stand out from other builds. Your car just blends in beautifully with the amazing mother nature . Watching your video is always a bliss. Live young, Live free ! Love from India ❤️
Looking good Lonehill boy! Representing SA to the world. Hilux is looking good! I hope it attracts the same attention as the Jimny did on YT. Makes me lis for a roadtrip!
Really enjoyed this video Adrian. One thing on the Lux i really dig is your " kitchenette " with the left hand side access on the canopy. Everything has it's place. Very very nice. Glad to hear you talking about not leaving anything other than your footprint when you leave. Good man. Great episode again.
Thanks Graydon! Glad you enjoyed it! :) I am going to be making some tweaks to the kitchenette system, to make it a bit more suitable to my personal needs; so you will definitely see a video soon where I make my changes to the back of the canopy, I think youll find some of the changes interesting! Have a lekker Festive season bud!
It wasn't untill almost the end of the video when I realised I watched a whole bunch of your video's with the Jimny a good while ago. Guess thats why this one popped up.. Nice video again! and Nice Hilux build! :D
Got two punctures on that road in my Jimny, and ended up at Die Mond so they could fix my tire. Will never travel that road again - which is sad because it is breath-taking.
I have traveled hundreds of kilometers on that and other roads in the Tankwa without a single puncture or flat. I think the trick is to have tyres with really tough sidewalls. In my case i used the Hankook Dynapro - excellent tyre. Pressure at about 1.8bar 80km/h
Just found your channel and have really enjoyed your adventures and how u also took people through the process of how your truck evolved! Well done man keep up the great vids!
Weather pending, the RRT is the last thing I usually pack away. Then it gives it more time to breathe and dry any condensation it may have collected overnight. As for mozzie repellent, have you tried any of the Thermacell products? I recommend them - they work amazing in still to no breeze conditions. But lose their effectiveness the stronger the breeze that goes through the camp is.
Amazing video again!!! Just got back from my trip that was inspired by you and it was one of the best trips I have had in a long while!!! Happy new year and cant wait for the awesome videos in 2021
Got hold of your vlogs after a long time. I like the fact that you care for animals while driving . Also that you enjoy solo travel more. I relate to both of these. Do try and feature the Jimny if you can and if you still have it.
@@RoamOverlanding true, I understand. Globally living cost have gone up, economies down and work also has suffered due to the ongoing health crisis . But I must say she was a very capable offroader. Just watched your episode and the most touching and appreciable things is you are thinking about environment , nature. Not leaving any single waste or litter. Really wonderful! Inspiring people to think👏👏👍
Brilliant mate, you enthusiasm and passion for touring is infectious and while in no way do I suggest you are imitating him you share the same infectious enthusiasm that Andrew St Pierre White has and I genuinely hope that you are able to continue to grow your viewer base to fund more exciting treks.
Nice video and great editing, I am enjoying the lovely and relaxing b-rolls; I have noticed the timelapse clips in your videos ,specifically at 5:43, do you have a tutorial explaining how to do it?
Hey Musab, thanks so much man! I’ve been having fun with them! 🤓 no tutorial on it, but I sometimes just set the camera to record and speed it up, other times I set an interval timer on my stills camera and let it run for an hour or so
Road noise levels vary with the tire balancing; they start out alright and get worse until i balance again at 5000-8000km; the grip of these coopers in wet is fantastic. Very impressive!
i loved and enjoyed the episode so much i have just one note, i thought you would answer the question of the episode and talk about it but i think you didn't i expected talking about pros and cons and maybe a bit comparison to the Suzuki Jimmny The episode is so fun tho ✌️ and thank you for replying to all our comments
A suggestion for packing “changes” in the draws. I’ve had some canvas bags made. Various sizes but always the width of a draw, with clear tops ( think tent windows). It stops things moving around and groups things together. Eg. All my cooking stuff is in one bag and i lift the bag out and put it on the table where I’m cooking.
HI Adrian, thanks for your really beautiful video...like usually 😊.. I recently sold my Jimny MY19..I bought the new L200...now I'm "preparing" it and I hope to roam asap.....copying your great experience 😁👍 Ciaooooo 🇮🇪
Daily use and occasional short 4x4 adventures, it’s great! Don’t expect to easily fit 4 people in it or to carry groceries comfortable etc 😂 but for just going to work and back, it’ll be fine 👌🏻
Really enjoyed the content. Not sure if I missed it in any of the videos or live chats, but it would be really valuable getting insights into the pricing of the various components of the build. Pricing is not easily available on supplier websites, even those of your partners. I’ve seen guys include this into videos but not really from a South African perspective. I wish you well in all you have planned for the channel, I’ll be watching closely!!
Glad you enjoying it buddy! So the reason why South African companies dont put their prices online is because they export a lot of products across the world; so the problem there is that a customer might google and find the price is R5000 for something here but then 500Euro overseas; which is more like R10,000 and they they complain about the price difference (Not realising the import/export duties markups etc of the process) so most companies just want to keep the price away and just redirect people to their local dealer for the local pricing :)
@@RoamOverlanding thanks for the feedback Adrian. I get that reasoning from a supplier perspective. @@RoamOverlanding The guys that make the Hotbox are in Oman. I’ve had great customer service from them. I have a 53l water tank under the Troopy - it’s surprising how quickly it heats up. The downside is that you’re heating all the water in the tank, but if you’re driving somewhere you can warm the water up and it’ll be ready when you arrive, or you could have it use a separate Jerry can for example. Probably not the best option for an early morning hot shower, but as you say, it does save space compared to having gas canisters and boilers, etc, in the car somewhere.
