I remember watching these videos 3 years ago as a 13-year-old boy praying that Adrian will release an hour long video and here we are. Adrian simply inspires me. Before Roam, I had no cooking clue what Overlanding was and now, it's number one on my bucket list. Thank you, Adrian. For taking time out of your fabulous trips to share it with thousands of people❤.
25:39 thank you for saying that about wild camping. Too many “wild campers” going around disrespecting other people’s property by just wanting stop where they want and leaving their crap and tyre tracks
I am 100% agree with your point, I am really enjoying watching your Chanel , good luck and I hope one day I can visit and see all beautiful places over their. 👌
Adrian, this was beautifully paced and put together…I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed it! I felt like you connected with us as the viewers more than ever before, maybe because you were traveling alone and filming so many authentic in-the-moment snippets with us. You captured the feeling in each moment perfectly! I also loved the fact that you didn’t plan too much. I’m also used to planning eeeeverything before hand and then missing a lot because you just have to stick to a route and move on all the time. You have definitely motivated me to travel solo and winging things more in the near future… Having said that, I’d love to do a nice game viewing-focussed trip with you at some stage…! 😉 Thanks for all the effort with these viddies 🙏🏻
I’m so glad you enjoyed it and that the risk to be abit more personal with the video was meaningful to people! That’s what it’s all about! 🙃 we must chat, maybe some cool things line up!
Man, this could very well be our favourite episode since watching when you were building your Jimny. The vulnerability was heartwarming, thank you for world class content!
You sir, are a natural. How well you put your thoughts into words, how well you know how to inspire other people to respect nature, each other, to engage and unite. More of you is exactly what probably the whole world, but specifically South Africa needs.
Ive been watching you for years since the Jimmy days!. And it just occured to me that a few years ago to do something like this for me was impossible. I used to watch these videos as an escape. To dream with you. However my life is drastuaclly different now. and now I can actually start my own adventure. its justy blow my mind how much things can change with time. Never stop dreaming or believing. thank you for the amazing videos
We are so enjoying watching your travel videos - Thank you so much for sharing your travels with us all Awesome photography✨ This one reminded us of our Naminia trip many years ago - such lovely memories, sure makes us want to visit Namibia again 💚🇿🇦
Everything about this chanel is 100 percent professional, down to the background music is suttle and so perfect for this video. Even the volume is perfect. Well done. The best overland chanel by far

I just got introduced to you last week in an XOverland video. This is the first of your videos I have watched. It’s one of the best videos I’ve seen in a very long time!! You have a new subscriber! I really liked your rant about the trash people leave behind at campsites. One of biggest pet peeves!! Your closing comments were spot on! I am so looking forward to checking out your other videos.
We love this episode. We are big fans of your content from UK. We are now starting to overland in South Africa and really value your insight and advise. Thankyou , keep it coming ❤
Thank you Thank you!! how you have opened my eyes Adrian. I am female, 72 years of age and have never stopped dreaming about the next adventure of which there have been many in the past. This particular Namibia trip definitely in my sights.. It has been such a fabulous hour watching you and your trip...
You are a amazing man and content creator. I would love to inspire people and hope to get out there someday with you. Please keep 'em coming because I love watching you out there.
Awesome Video. It’s really one of my bucket list items to do a solo trip one day and you always give us inspiration to do such trips. I actually met you about 4 years ago at one of the offroad shows at the Dome in Jhb and I still have one of your stickers on my vehicle that I only recently purchased at that time. My build is very minimalistic compared to yours but it works for me. But your ideas inspired me to build it in that way. Thanks again for all the inspiration to do what we love. Looking forward to the next trip!
I met you in Swakopmund after watching so many journeys with you and now you back, it makes all sense, my Namibia is the diamond of Africa, thank you for being back and this video is so well done, thx.
Thank you for providing such amazing content! It's truly refreshing, and the motivational ending really sparked a fire in me. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. Please continue delivering this fantastic content to us!" Thank you!
Thank you indeed Adrian. I have spend many days going through your incredible Hilux build and have learnt more about it and the kit availability for it in 3 days than I have know about in the last 5 years. We to did a 3 week Bushlore hire in May/June this year to Kgalagadi and Namibia and this will so be usefull in the next step in setting up our own vehicle. Extremely well presented, narrated and yes, edited as I know all too well the time that takes. Cheers Ian
Great to hear! I have a walk around video releasing in the end of October/November where I will give a complete update on the entire process of the build over 3 years later. I have changed many things and would do a few things differently so keep an eye out for that video!
Adrian I have to say I think this is one of your best videos. Great story and pace. Your cinematography work and music selection on this one was inspired 🙌 Always good to slow down and get back to basics and do what makes you happy. Thank you.
Absolutely authentic and fantastic! You are trully racking up the memories, and when the time comes for the next chapters including fatherhood you will look back upon the pages of the chapters of your life and will be able to share those with your loved ones! It's amazing just looking through the lens of your camera and still enjoying a part of your life and journey. One day I hope to also do a little of what you do, God willing. Thank you bro❤
I moved from Belgium to Cape Town 7 years ago. Little I knew about overlanding, but man, how did I missed out! I am following your channel for a while and you inspired me to go overlanding. I did my first overlanding trip in Namibia 6 months ago with wife and kids and went to all those beautiful spots you showed on your Namibia episodes and more. The sense of joy, freedom and adventure is indescribable. The Cederberg is also my playground now. Your content is quality and you are a great story teller. Well done! BTW, Namtib Desert Lodge is such a gem!
Ja Boet...this is your best work yet...REALLY enjoyed it...the whole package...and this inspired me to start planning...or is it non planning...my own solo trip...great work, keep this up.
As much as I love your content about products and vehicle modifications, it’s videos like this that inspire me to get out and explore. This is definitely one of your best videos. Your passion for what you do is palpable and we’re here for it. Love it!!!
Been to Namibia twice. Love the place. In the western US it is customary to stop and assist someone who needs help, no payment is expected. I always refuse if offered because i have been helped by a passer-by a time or two myself when on lonely desert or backcountry road. It's just the right thing to do.
Brilliant, thank you. It makes those of us who aren't in a position to do some overlanding to at least continue to dream about it...and who knows, maybe one day....
Hi Adrian, brilliant video as always and even more powerful ending - it was from the heart and think it touch everyone in his and hers own way - its needed to be heard and well done for doing that - its not easy to open one's soul up, inevitably when you do that it touches people!! - lovely - well done and looking forward to the next one!!
Thoroughly enjoyed the vid Adrian, the solo trip just brings a new dimension to your videos and also brings out some great perspectives . Thank you sir
aah, you make me so proud. this was a beautiful video. not only is your talent flipping amazing, the message and substance really stand out. you're the best Adrian x
As a big long time follower of your channel this was one of my favourite episodes, I appreciate you speaking to mental health and the importance of taking time for yourself. I’m picking up a Hilux to do some trips soon myself I was wondering if you purchased a fairly stock Hilux what would your first 3 upgrades be and why? Cannot wait to get some time away from the city. Thank you for inspiring us all and everything you do sir! 👌🏼
So glad this one resonated with you bud! Top 3 upgrades: 1. Good Tires (standard vehicles can do so much, but generally their tires are trash. I’ve been loving the General Grabber ATX and the AT3 LT, both excellent and done some hard trails with them, with no issues, but their on road manners are excellent too!) 2. A BushTech Canopy (Don’t play games here, just get the best from the start, because this opens up so many options for how you want to travel in the future. 3. An Air Compressor. So you actually deflate your tires and inflate them correctly. This is the number one way to prevent punctures and get improved offroad performance. These things will get you out there and begin your journey, the rest can come with time and experience!
Adrian this must be your best episode ever, thank you! There was complete silence while listening to you at the end of the episode, you spoke to our hearts. Well done :)
Great video and well said. It was great to see someone speaking about mental health and how the time spent by yourself out in wildness can be a real help. I hope to do some overlanding trips here in new Zealand if I could afford it all
Here in the netherlands where I lived now for 17 years people also just throught there trash out of car windows etc. I have been in many european countries and Namibia (home country) is much cleaner and pure/untouched. Enjoy!
Thanks for the great video. It is so great to find people that are so passionate about what they do. I have been following for a while now, and have definitely put overlanding on my bucket list.
Great episode Adrian.I love your video's.I like the new way of presenting with a message.I'm twice your age biut learn so much from you. Thanks for the effort you put in to your work.
"It's amazing how big and diverse Namibia is. I have been to a majority of the areas you went through, but surprisingly, I have never stayed at the campsite you mentioned. This just goes to show that there are still so many more places to explore. For your next visit, I highly recommend venturing into the remote areas in the northwestern parts of Namibia, specifically Koakoland. Marienfluss, in particular, is a wonderful location for capturing stunning photos. Recently, I had the opportunity to go there with a group of my friends, taking the adventurous Infermes Van Zyl's Pass. It was truly an amazing experience. Keep up the great work and happy travels!"
Thank you Josef! I am on my way up north in the next couple weeks! (Actually south of where I am right now in Zambia) I can’t wait to get back to a namibia!
Love your videos. You do an excellent job. We are living in the UK at the moment ,but we can't wait to come back. My mate in Bela-Bela is busy building our Landcruiser Troopy overlander. In the meantime, we get inspiration from your videos.
Great video! I find myself using my overlanding setup far too little, and I blame all sorts of things. Time. Weather. Other hobbies. Comfort. But it's all rubbish, and I just need to head out. Decided to drive across the country for a business meeting last week, slept in the mountains with a fantastic view from my roof top tent. Loved every moment of it (apart from the wind!). Will be doing this more often, fitting the overlanding into my working life :) Now I'm considering rebuilding the setup with an RSI Smart Cap and setting up a mattress in the back of the truck. Avoiding issues with wind, and making for a much faster camp setup. Ease of use = more use?
@@RoamOverlanding Yeah it was great, and I learnt quite a bit about the truck setup that I think I can improve on to make it easier to set up camp super quickly if I'm heading off into un-known terrain without a camp site in mind ;)
A refreshing piece of work Adrian, I love your style. Your genuine approach and top notch photography along with unique style is inspirational. Your astro shots and videography style are super impressive. I look forward to to many more episodes and insights. I do have a couple of questions about your camera. What do you use and what set up do you have for filming from within your car please?
@@RoamOverlanding well you’ve mastered handheld filming that’s for sure. Thanks for sharing you’re gear set up. Here’s to many more happy and safe travels.
Great episode Adrian! Thoroughly enjoyed it. If all goes well I will soon be heading out to realize a dream solo trip myself. Remember: Don't buy it, build it yourself! 🙂
Hi Adrian, Enjoyed this video but it would have been great if you shared the campsites you stayed at, especially the valley of 1000 hills and the one before that. I totally agree with you about people respecting the land.
Lekker Stefanus! I do actually track all my trips, but I want you to go and have your own adventure! 🤣 otherwise I give access to some of the Gpx files to Patreon members

Thanks a ton! I shoot on the Sony A74 with 24-70 f4 and the 100-400 GM. I just hold the camera with one hand an chat 🤣 very unsophisticated!
@@RoamOverlanding well you’ve mastered handheld filming that’s for sure. Thanks for sharing you’re gear set up. Here’s to many more happy and safe travels.
Insane series 💯
Keep it up!
Appreciate it!
Great episode Adrian! Thoroughly enjoyed it. If all goes well I will soon be heading out to realize a dream solo trip myself.
Remember: Don't buy it, build it yourself! 🙂
Go for it!
Awsome vid, was so good! Like the self focus on what matters! Thx for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Adrian, Enjoyed this video but it would have been great if you shared the campsites you stayed at, especially the valley of 1000 hills and the one before that. I totally agree with you about people respecting the land.
Great suggestion! I was actually supposed to add it but forgot 😅 the names are Namibs Valley of a Thousand hills, and Bushman’s camp, Sossus By foot
I need one of these solo trips in my life right now 😢
Even if it’s just a short weekend away, it still works wonders.
Maybe just maybe its a good idea to map the route you took and share it with others so they can also enjoy it. Looks cool. thanks
Lekker Stefanus! I do actually track all my trips, but I want you to go and have your own adventure! 🤣 otherwise I give access to some of the Gpx files to Patreon members
