- Welcome to the endless desert of Namibia! It's time for an epic adventure and road trip through one of the least populated countries in the world. However, there is plenty of life on the Savannah! In this video we take you on a family trip by 4x4 campervan and show you ALL the sights, including the Sossusvlei, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Cape Cross and Etosha. You'll also see ALL the African animals that you can find in Namibia.
Namibia is about 1,5 time the size of France mainly consists of desert. On our route we cross the west coast of Southern Africa from Cape Town all the way to Namibia. Just a note: The Atacama in Chile is the driest place on Earth.
Thanks! We’ve been to Atacama too. Some things can both be true depending on how you measure it. Atacama is driest overall when you just measure the air. While some parts of the Namib desert haven’t caught any rain in millions of years. The thing is, these explanations are way too long for a short video 😉👍🏻

Namibia is one place that got beautiful landscapes , one of lion has porcupine quill of its cheek did you saw it.
Namibia is something else....Yes, Deadvlei does get a bit warm doesn't it? Roads tend to rattle your fillings as well. So much emptyness.
I did it by coach..built on a truck chassis. And the beer is excellent - and cheap. I hope to go back one day.

Hi! Yes you are probably right. We stopped along the way in Africa many times, but police officers told us not to stop on the roads here. They said robbery was common in the months before.. that’s what I meant in the video, but we do understand that most of the time there is no danger. Cheers!

Hey Wout, this is a great video! We are going to Namibia in May and loved seeing some of the places we plan to visit. I am curious what cameras/lens you have used to film these shots ( if you don’t mind sharing 🙏🏼). We plan to take our drone and canon R5 but wondering if you’d recommend any other equipment - we also have a go pro but it’s a bit old now haha!

Hi! Dank je voor de complimenten. We hebben alle afleveringen trouwens ook in het Nederlands. We reizen samen al zo’n tien jaar en hebben dat eigenlijk niet veranderd sinds Jens geboren werd. Hij is vanaf zijn geboorte vaak langere tijd op reis geweest, waarvan de langste periode anderhalf jaar (deze video in Namibië was tijdens die reis). Dat kunnen we zeker eens doen! Al moet ik wel zeggen, dat wij het normale leven echt hebben verruild voor het reizen, waardoor veel mensen het niet op dezelfde manier kunnen doen. Op het moment plannen we de volgende reis die weer ongeveer anderhalf jaar zal duren, vanaf deze zomer 😉👍🏻 onze tweede zal daar bij zijn, die nu nul is! Groetjes van de familie!

I wish it was any different. We have been warned by the police even, because of the increased violence. Namibia has a very high crime rate, when it comes to robbery and violent car theft. It’s common sense not to stop in remote places..
Can I ask why you said it was dangerous to stop near the locals in their village?
Because the crime rate and especially violent cases of car robbery are very high in Namibia.. it’s not my personal opinion, but statistics unfortunately 🥲
