Taylor Lautner's early life during the twilight series and hyper-sexualization he experienced, as well as the outrageous body expectations for male heart throb actors could honestly be its own video.
Seann william scott is probably my favourite actor ever and not even because of the more popular movies. 90% of his movies that basicly nobody has seen are hidden gems. And he has made a comeback in welcome to the flatch
I remember watching Sacha Baron Cohen in a Netflix series called "The Spy". Based on a true story, he nailed the role so much that I forgot that he's primarily a comedian and the one who starred in Borat for the remainder of the the series. Plus, Hollywood still casts him and the others too. You could've just titled the video "Why these actors aren't prominent in films anymore"
Sasha was absolutely brilliant in that series! Strange that it wasn't mentioned in this video! That series really showed how talented an actor he really is!
I remember seeing this one story about the actress who played Heather in The Blair Witch Project. The actors all used their real names, along with last names not just first. This made it hard for Donahue to get roles (she was only associated with Blair Witch) and so she retired from acting and changed her name to Rei Hance. Sad, because she was an amzing actress, and not just in Blair Witch Project.

Taylor Lautner definitely hasn't "let himself go" as much as this implies; he and his wife cameo'd on stage at a Taylor Swift Eras concert, and he did a spontaneous round-off backflip that was SUPER solid. Huge props to do that in shoes, on an unknown surface, in front of over 50,000 people live.
SWS doesn't deserve the shit he got. Dude has a winning personality, a leading roll jaw line, and honestly did a great job in everything he's been in. Genuinely feel bad that someone that brought so much joy got such a rough trade.
True. He's been great in Welcome to Flatch. I wasn't sure about that show at first, seemed like a third rate Parks and Rec, but it's really grown on me. Aya Cash is fantastic as well.
True. especially considering the higher the salary an actor pulls, the fewer movies are available for them. I don't know this for a fact, but I feel like that happened to Robert Downey Jr.: After Endgame, there literally weren't movies that were high enough budget to hire him as an actor.
mintz-plasse was in an episode of party down i think season 2, his character was a laid-back sci-fi screenwriter. i rewatched the series recently since the final season was released and it was actually really nice to see his cameo briefly in the show :)
Cohen mainly fell because he stopped his momentum. Borat 2 is the most obvious example. The original Borat was as offensive as possible to everyone, but the sequel oddly only focused on a specific group of people and was much more tame.
Yea I saw Borat 2 and it was disappointing to say the least, I remember watching Borat in the early 2010s every now and again with my cousins and we laughed our asses off every single time, so we were really hyped for the sequel, then it came out and it was kinda meh and we were planning on first watching it individualy then all together, after watching it individualy tho, we kinda never spoke about it again
It's because of the woke epidemic, the vocal minority of people like that in the West (mostly California and NYC in the US, most of Canada, and Western Europe with the UK and Germany being prime examples) are offended by everything and even offended on behalf of other people... it's really gotten insane that a minority has taken hold of the news and all other forms of media and entertainment...luckily, a lot of people are getting sick of this and waking up, more and more young people are now actively fighting against this woke mindset, so in a decade or two I think things will start to get better

Taylor Lautner had a lead role in an English show called Cuckoo which is hilarious and he's very good in it. He's also said more than once that being sexualised at such a young age (he was 17 in the first film) by adults and the obsession with his body really messed with his head
What...? Bro was barely in the first twilight film, and he didn't remove his shirt at all lmao. He was an adult by the time of the second move and when he started to be sexualized
I had a colleague at work who had a poster of Taylor from the Twilight movie in her office. She was in her 60s and spoke of him as a boyfriend or love. Sometimes she called him Pattison. Lol crazy
Sasha Baron Cohen is still very much a wanted actor in Hollywood. He shined in the TV Series Spy, Film Trial of the Chicago 7 and had success with We are America. Man is still up there.
Taylor Lautner is always who comes to my mind when people say men aren't affected by Hollywood's obsession with image the way women are. I don't doubt that it's more ubiquitous with women but I honestly think Taylor Lautner really got railroaded and the poor guy really never stood a chance. I still remember seeing those "Twilight Moms" who were women in their 40's and 50's, thirsting over Lautner and counting down the days until her turned 18 which was just...creepy. Then, the moment he has the audacity to age and stop having the body of a 20 year old Olympic water polo player, the media immediately begins making fun of him for being "fat" and "out of shape". They even began to call him "washed up" and a "hasbeen" when he was only like 25 years old! So the guy was hypersexualized while he was still a minor, stops doing his ridiculously intense and grueling workout routine to maintain his physique, immediately gets lambasted for it, then gets called washed up and a "hasbeen" and he only turned 30 just last year. Whether or not people think he's a good actor is irrelevant, he deserved much better. I just looked him up and was happy to see that he recently got married, did a movie last year, and just generally looks happy and healthy. He always seemed like a nice guy and I've only heard good things from people who've met him. I hope he's doing well.
wouldn't say he lost his body becasue he got older he stopped training, it gets boring and seems time wasting after years of always being in the gym. Then again he never had to work again after twilight so he proabbly had more then enough time.
Taylor Lautner's situation was unfortunate, but remember that guy was not a man, he was still a kid when fame hit him. The dude was a boy of 15 or 16 back in 2008 when grown women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, even 50s openly stated they wanted to fuck him. There was no way any boy, no matter how mature is ready for that level of fame and open offers of sex from women far older than you. I remember women at work back in the late 2000s/early 2010s openly talking about how hot he was. Even when the guy turned 18, it was still weird to hear adult women talk about him. No way men would be allowed to perve on a girl like that and not be labeled a creep. Then the guy got bad movie roles, then he stopped working out, got older and looked like a regular guy and there you have it. Lautner still has the potential for some kind of comeback, though I think he should steer away from heartthrob roles.
In the UK Sacha Baron Cohan is still known and has a cult fan base for his role as Ali G. The film co-stared Martin Freeman of all people and it certainly didn't hurt his career
I feel bad for Seann William Scott. He actually used to be a friend of my mother's ex and came over to my house when I was a kid. I think he just got typedcast as the comic relief or the idiot who gets killed halfway in the movie and the few times he tries to be more of a leading man, the film fails due to various factors.
@@doyoulikedags3534 If I ever manage to make or write movies, I would try to get him involved. Nobody is going to to talk about the fact that Jim Carey publicly called out the illoomanutty on the jimmy kimmel show after telling jimmy to stop pretending like he doesnt know. And that they; and the rest of high level Hollywood, are in on it. It was an incredibly uncomfortable segment. They added laugh tracks because the audience was silent and nervous.
Actually, there is a (mini-) series with Sascha Baron Cohen, called the Spy. He acted quite good and the series was entertaining to watch as well, can recommend.
I'm happy that Jim Carrey is happy and in a good place. He's given us so many iconic roles, and has chosen to step back and retire from the Hollywood rat race.
Cameron Diaz shouldn’t be on your list if her absence from Hollywood is her choice. The same goes for Jim Carey who decided to retire. I’m sure Hollywood would continue to cast them, but if they’ve decided to essentially quit, then they shouldn’t be on this list.
Im glad that Jensen Ackles didn’t suffer the same fate. While yes a lot of people know him as Dean Winchester, I think that he has fantastically portrayed the character of Soldier Boy.
He made the right call moving from one major series to another. Some actors either take too long to pick up work again or take on new series that aren't as well received. By the time Jensen joined the cast of The Boys it was already a cultural phenomenon
Taylor didn't fall as far as you'd think as he managed to land a co-lead role in the BBC comedy 'Cuckoo'. Andy Sanberg left after season 1 because of 'Brooklyn Nine Nine', so Taylor got the role of his son and had immediate chemistry with actor & comedian Gregg Davis (of Taskmaster fame). Together the pair would work for a couple of seasons before Taylor bowed out before the final few episodes, however this role as a happy go lucky fool seemed to really work for him and I hope it leads to more comedy roles in the future.

Sasha Baron Cohen was playing Freddie Mercury in the Bohemian Rhapsody, but kept complaining that there should be more about Freddie's drug fuelled parties and "notorious promiscuity". it was pointed out to him by Brian May that Freddie was never promiscuous, that he was shy but would play up to a crowd at a party. Got drugs available for people that used them but that his actual vice was vodka. When Baron Cohen had a rant on set at a cameraman, then made some explicit comments about things Freddie alledgedly did, including insults to his mother. Roger Taylor happened to be there. Apparently, he politely told him that none of them were ever rude to Freddie's parents. That he kept his private life away from his family because he worried about the press following them around. Then, he went right up nose to nose with Baron Cohen and fired him. Baron Cohen tried to laugh it off saying Roger couldnt fire him, only to discover that as Roger & Brian were the exec producers, key investors, were involved in just about every part of the film, he could fire him and Baron Cohen was kicked off set and had his stuff sent to his home from his trailer on set by courier. As Brian May pointed out, if you get cast to play a real person and you have that persons life long friends there, you dont go round spouting your opinion based on what the press said happened.
Getting dragged for participating in an illegal poker game is so weird to me to be honest, sure him trying to get Molly to bark like a seal for $1000 is a little weird (and honestly kind of funny) but let's be honest he could tried to make her do much worse things for money
Tobey Maguire has proven himself to be an INCREDIBLE actor, that is capable of playing polar opposite from Peter Parker. Brothers (2009) being a stand out example. Sean William Scott is also incredible in Just Before I Go.
To follow-up on what Sunny said at 5:43 about Molly Bloom's poker game, I highly reccommend the movie "Molly's Game". It covers the entire story of her poker game she ran that included Tobey, Leonardo Dicaprio, among other stars. Super good film!
I really hope Jim Carrey keeps doing just little weird roles, kind of like Daniel Radcliffe but smaller. Jim's genuinely one of the funniest people on the planet, and almost as nice of a person as Robin Williams was. Having him disappear forever would be sad, but it's better than him feeling pressured into staying on the big screen longer than he wants to.
Great video! I'm surprised you didn't include Daniel Radcliffe. I've always felt like he is the epitome of being stuck in a role. He will always be Harry Potter. He has had some other really successful movies so that's why he probably didn't make the list
I think in cases like his, it's different because he is cognizant of and embraces the fact that he will always and forever be known for playing one iconic role, and because of this takes on projects that *he* finds interesting, fulfilling, etc. more so than taking on roles in hopes it will help him break away from that iconic role. Mark Hamill and especially Elijah Wood are two other fantastic examples of this (the former still embracing his Luke role whilst going on to be the most iconic voice the Joker has ever had, the latter embracing his love for wacky horror films and other dramatic roles like in No Man of God).
Radcliffe does mostly indie or weird movies. Guns Akimbo comes to mind (excellent movie btw) it’s not that Hollywood won’t cast him, more he’s already so rich and done so much that the more weird and creative, ie not mainstream appeals to him more.
Sacha Baron Cohen was really good in The Trial of the Chicago Seven; while he is the closest thing to comic relief, it’s quite a dramatic role and he was excellent. He was also briefly in the Pixar movie Luca. While Cohen probably can’t do his Borat/Bruno sketch comedy roles for much longer, I definitely don’t think he is counted out as a good actor.
Loved him in the Chicago Seven. "You said you wanted to overthrow the government, did you not?" "We overthrow the government every four years." The way he delivered that line is so damn good.
Hey sunny! I was wondering if you could make more mystery/cold case videos like the one about the Beaumont children a year ago. Personally I find them really entertaining so maybe other people do too
Sacha Baron-Cohen was in the miniseries The Spy (2019) based on a true story about an Israeli spy in Syria in the 1960's. It was a completely serious role, a far shot from the crass humour he is typically known for. And guess what? He absolutely crushed the role. He was perfect. The man has so much more range than many people would suspect.

Man, seeing Jim Carrey and Tobey not being cast again is sad. I love Tobey for his Spider-Man and Jim for The Truman Show. Nice documentary again Sunny! 👍
I guess if you land your first big Hollywood-hit you should try to get into different types of characters soon, to not let people get too imprinted on that 1 role. Similar with How I Met Your Mother, Neil and Cobie kept starring in big roles, while Josh Radnor took a break from bigger acting projects for a while and then said in an interview that he was worried about always being pictured as "Ted" only.

Yeah he's retired and should even be in the video.
I never really like Jim Careys movies, his way of humor with the weird faces just never appealed to me. I can however madly respect his choice to do what he loves, even if that means turning his back to his former career and Hollywood 👍
sonic 3 😊
Taylor Lautner's early life during the twilight series and hyper-sexualization he experienced, as well as the outrageous body expectations for male heart throb actors could honestly be its own video.
Taylor being hypersexualised by grown ass women when he was a minor isn't talked about enough
BORAT WAS RIGHT!!!
Seann william scott is probably my favourite actor ever and not even because of the more popular movies. 90% of his movies that basicly nobody has seen are hidden gems. And he has made a comeback in welcome to the flatch
The goon is a good watch, he's had a few good less big screen bangers but he couldn't break the break out character he's famous for.

Evolution!!
Totally true, he was good in that!
Loved that show. Nice for sacha to flex that drama muscle every so often.
It’s a clickbait title (and it worked because you watched it). I wouldn’t read in to it any more than that.
Sasha was absolutely brilliant in that series! Strange that it wasn't mentioned in this video! That series really showed how talented an actor he really is!
Even with SBC, I remember trail of Chicago 7 getting a ton of buzz at the Oscars and he played one of the leads in that
I remember seeing this one story about the actress who played Heather in The Blair Witch Project.

Brendan Fraser used to be in conversations like this, but thankfully he made a comeback.
Whatch Goon! He is so good in that movie. Truly made me a fan of an actor that had already done an iconic role in my childhood.
Acting is one of the few professions where being too good can be a bad thing.
@Dont_Read_My_User_Photo damn chill i won't
@TheGlassesPro yeah that can suck because one of his best roles was the dad in prisoners.
True. especially considering the higher the salary an actor pulls, the fewer movies are available for them. I don't know this for a fact, but I feel like that happened to Robert Downey Jr.: After Endgame, there literally weren't movies that were high enough budget to hire him as an actor.
@TheGlassesPro And Van Helsing
mintz-plasse was in an episode of party down i think season 2, his character was a laid-back sci-fi screenwriter. i rewatched the series recently since the final season was released and it was actually really nice to see his cameo briefly in the show :)
This is why I’m glad Will farrell never did a second talladega nights movie. The first one, as stupid as it is, is such a classic to me that I don’t think they could top the humor.

Sasha Baron Cohen is still very much a wanted actor in Hollywood. He shined in the TV Series Spy, Film Trial of the Chicago 7 and had success with We are America. Man is still up there.
I hope he stays so, I love that guy too much for him to go down.
Yhh Sunny completely missed out his TV exposure as a more serious actor!
The problem with him is that you pu@@ies will complain about the movie. Don't even lie about it.

"Ive had enough, I've done enough, I am enough."
-Jim Carrey 4:26
Based
Taylor Lautner is always who comes to my mind when people say men aren't affected by Hollywood's obsession with image the way women are.
💯
wouldn't say he lost his body becasue he got older he stopped training, it gets boring and seems time wasting after years of always being in the gym. Then again he never had to work again after twilight so he proabbly had more then enough time.
He was also in Scream Queens
First time i've been disappointed with SunnyV2.
In the UK Sacha Baron Cohan is still known and has a cult fan base for his role as Ali G. The film co-stared Martin Freeman of all people and it certainly didn't hurt his career
Watching sunnyv2 after school laying down is the best thing ever
I feel bad for Seann William Scott. He actually used to be a friend of my mother's ex and came over to my house when I was a kid. I think he just got typedcast as the comic relief or the idiot who gets killed halfway in the movie and the few times he tries to be more of a leading man, the film fails due to various factors.
Man, I really miss Seann William Scott in movies, rip.

I watched Jim Carrey go ham in Sonic 2 last summer in theater. He killed it!
Actually, there is a (mini-) series with Sascha Baron Cohen, called the Spy.
He acted quite good and the series was entertaining to watch as well, can recommend.

Exactly! Spy is such an underrated show and seeing SBC in serious role proves he's versatile. Too bad Sunny missed this part about him.

Pretty cool that you mentioned Maguire's involvement in "Molly's Game." That whole story is bonkers.
Getting dragged for participating in an illegal poker game is so weird to me to be honest, sure him trying to get Molly to bark like a seal for $1000 is a little weird (and honestly kind of funny) but let's be honest he could tried to make her do much worse things for money

Jim said he would be in the 3rd Sonic movie if the script is good
Great video!

Sacha Baron-Cohen was in the miniseries The Spy (2019) based on a true story about an Israeli spy in Syria in the 1960's.
