Chevy Impala SS revival!! As MEAN as it gets!

- The 90s Chevy Impala SS was a car from a time when the recipe for a performance sedan was a lot simpler. It entailed taking a massive rear-wheel-drive sedan and fitting it with a naturally aspirated V8 and an automatic transmission. The Impala SS was a true 1990s muscle sedan.
The 5.7-liter engine of this LT1 variant generated 260 horsepower and 330 lb/ft of torque. Low-down torque was a priority when developing the engine for the Impala SS and even at idle, it sounds absolutely fantastic.
Floor it, and this big, comfy sedan will take you from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds flat.
In its first year, Chevy sold 6,303 vehicles, and every single one of them was black.

Love my 1995 B body impala ss 400k miles and still going strong 💪my daily driver
The early 90’s SS was my favourite sedan for a long time. Grampas sleeper muscle car.
That rear is a masterpiece. I also love that you went back to basics and updated a lot of the body using your own imagination, and not just sticking to one manufacturer for graphical elements, especially when there’s something better suited to the car
This
Going to agree but it will never work people done like 4 door gm sports cars . Some do but most don’t
You're either high or have no taste.....
I read an interview with the designer of this generation of Impala, his one regret was that he wasn't able to lower the roofline (GM wouldn't let him due to cost and not wanting to reduce headroom). Glad to see you lowered it, it really improves the proportions of the car.
As a fellow 96 impala owner I like it 👌
I used to see my P.E teacher in middle school going to work on a bike, like 25km one way.
He was a bit of a hippie so I thought it is not only for health but also for an enviroment.
...
One day he arrived in Chevy Impala like this one in the video, and said that it was his daily.
I live in Central Europe and american muscle is not a common view here.
Poland 🤔
I never had a Impala but plenty of caprices. Love the style
When I lived in Germany, a friend of mine had one of these but if course it was pimped... 22's, candy paint, loud music, and a ton of engine updrades. That thing was a blast on the autobahn. The Germans really appreciated it as well.
I love it but it still has to have the modern ss badge and the classy impala badge that I think they had on the second to last gen
The 1996 impala ss is my dream car, im definitely getting one in a few years
I have for sell $10 000 run great
@@charlestopps3158 i will keep you in mind, i just got to get $10,000 first 🤣🤣, that is not a bad deal, whats the mileage though
Dream car
Chevy needs to bring a rwd impala SS back into production
I like it but I think the wheels need to stay deep-dish.
I bought this car when it first came out and traded it in 2 years later.. if I knew back then that this car would be in such a high demand I surely would not have gotten rid of it.
That's what happens when you're a follower
This is undeniably inspired. The kind of stuff I’m subbed for right here. Love it.
I could see GM bringing this design back with the coupe like sedan design à la Audi A7 or BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe
Should do triple taillights in keeping with the practice for the Impala (and Caprice) during the 1960s and early 1970s. Otherwise, I think the tail is excellent.
Man how I miss my 03 ls Impala. Lost this past May. Now I have a 2020 Malibu. Chevy gang fo life...
You created a BAD ASS CHEVY , Thank you !
The only issue seems to be the wheels. Dished five spoke wheels would work well. The original wheels aren't a bad design, because they aren't busy. Maybe not such a chunky 5 spoke design.
Your sketch actually looks more high performance than the car itself. I love that 3b design that's how I used to draw cars back in the day awesome work
96 is a all-time classic year all around the board
I have a 2015 LTZ Black.. got it before my 23rd birthday, im not sure if whoever made it they got down man, because this car has surprised me i have took out any extra weight from spare tire to any extra items it came with, i put quality oil an Surpreme gas an this thing will get up an most V6 sedans till today…
Impala SS has to be on it and the wheels need to look like the original ones
I would love to have a copy of the second paper sketch that you did at the beginning of this video!
Oh my goodness! You just turned that Impala into an insanely cool 4 door modern muscle car! That is lean and mean and I want two. One in gun metal grey with black racing stripes.
😂😂😂
This rear rendition complements perfectly your earlier exercise performed on the front. I especially enjoyed the altered headlights of that one, just as the updated taillights here. All done with your regard to protecting the original design. It's interesting the Fleetwood those years was built on a stretched version of the same platform. I've seen your renditions of earlier years of that model but I haven't caught any of your work for the last gen.
I drive a '96 Fleetwood and certainly look forward to what you would dream up.
You made that sketch look so easy you made me think I could do it. It was terrible I failed horribly🤦🏽♂️. Beautiful car, Chevy definitely need to team up with you to bring this car to life.
It looks great love the redesign, Imo the original wheels looked better and fit with the car's clean design. I think the wheels clash too much with them being a more busy design. The clean five spoke made the car look classy and aggressive without coming off like a boy racer fitted wheels on an impala. Love the redesign still. Cheers
I love it. Thanks for the redesign.
I would love to purchase a enlarged version of this sketch for my garage 😄
I strongly suggest that you make a redesign of the original wheel design we all love that wheel and the one you used in the sketch looks like a BBS Tuner Car wheel! there are so many Impala SS Purist that prefer that wheel over any other aftermarket wheel design!!!
One of my favorite cars ever. I'm from DC so to have one of these was like having the most luxurious cars in the world. We called them bubbles but if they ever decide to bring back a upgraded body style similar to the 96 impala, I would definitely trade my car in for one
I was hoping to see a three tail lights on this. Like the old school Impala's had.
My thoughts exactly!
94 through 96 Chevrolet Impala came in black. A black cherry if you will and an olive green
Its crazy how much it looks like a VR Commodore.
EDIT : Oh and the redesign looks friggin awesome btw. The ducktail spoil fits soooooo well.
I currently own a 1995 Buick roadmaster. GREATEST GM Vehicle ever! The 95-96 sedans from GM are legends
Love the original. Sometimes we should just leave great alone.
Nice remodel had me super pumped to see my favorite car of all time thx.
93 Caprice Classic. Best vehicle I've ever owned to date!!!!!!
As I'm watching the oldish supernatural TV show. There 1967 sedan chevy impala looks pretty badass. 1 of my new favorite cars. The 90s one is very nice as well though
Dang, for a second. I thought this was real 😂🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️. This is dope. I’ve never owned one, but every time I’d see one, I’d think, “man, I would LOVE to get my hands on one that’s in great shape.” They’re hard to find. Or at least they were. I see them here in Florida, more then I saw them back home in Cali.
This against the Hellcat Charger would be a dream come true. I like this way better than the other video with the front end this side looks way more modern. The other video was more like a appreciation video to the 96 impala this one looks like a remake of the 96 Impala in modern day 🔥🔥🔥
Dope! Only thing I would say is that the Impala has 6 tail lights traditionally and those wheels don’t really go with an American muscle car but over great job 👏🏽
The police variant (1996 Caprice 9C1) has such a presence. I have a 1/18 scale model of one. Great keepsake.
There where two engine options, the 350 and the ss had the 454. So came in black, green and a plum color
This ss is rare now and these days but love the sketch man 👌🏽
I had a 1996 Caprice "B4U" with the LT1.Basically the most fully loaded version of the car you can get. A friend of mine found it with 45K miles on it and bought it, then I bought it from him with 91K (he needed an SUV instead, LOL). I drove it up to 187K miles and someone stole it from my driveway while I was out of town (it wasn't running BTW). While although the car was a tank, I can say that in my experience the Ford Panther cars are tougher over the same miles. Over the 96K miles that I put on it I had the following go wrong:
Front Left ball joint separated (twice)
Transmission cooler lines busted under pressure (WOT, passing someone) dumping out all the fluid on the road (3x)
A/C compressor pulley seized
Fuel pump went bad
Transmission went bad at 80K
Front tie rod separated on highway (good thing I was hardly moving)
Radiator went bad at 75K
CD player stopped working at 90k (I got one out of a trailblazer to replace it, turns out it's also the same one that the C5 corvette uses)
The original owner had done the car up to look like an actual police car even using the Goodyear RSA's. Had to change them every 15K miles because they would not stay in alignment for whatever reason, the insides would always wear prematurely no matter who aligned it (and they were 225.00 each back then even online). I ultimately just ended up putting on BFG's and that seemed to fix it. My boss had a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis that had 250K on it and he had brought it brand new in 1998. Other than the fact that his transmission was starting to lose OD (because he never changed the fluid), the car never left him stranded. Oddly enough, the Caprice was the 2nd longest lasting car I ever owned before selling but it was the one that I had to get towed the most.
I would like to see a redesign front end of this Impala SS
I totally like it all except the wheels. Reminds me of the 20 dollar set of wheel covers that western auto sold in the 70's. Jmo!! Your work is fantastic.🤗
door handles: welp im gone
love the retro look
I love how even after modernizing it, the car still looks old school and badass. If that car had a modern 5 liter V8 without too many electronics, I'd definitely consider buying it
You can buy a Crown Vic at auction for a reasonable price Chevy was stupid for not continuing the Caprice so Ford filled the void until 2011 with well designed rear wheel drive V8 powered cars that can simply can't be killed try one you will see
And the truth is you don't have two nickels to rub together so you ain't buying crap so many of you talk of buying things they see on RUclips if they made the car you fantasize about you certainly could not afford it you are living in a land of make believe sorry to bust your bubble 😎
That 96 is my dream car
Besides of the spoiler and the taillights: spot on indeed! Really cool!
This recreation would be a good competitor for the charger
That is a remarkable redesign I love it I would love to have one
I have a buddy here in Winnipeg has a 96SS, minty, black with gold accents, grey leather interior. Never winter driven, maintained religiously, clean as a whistle. I've seen the speedo going past 265kph on the perimeter on occasion 😳, like riding in your living room, very quickly.
That car will never play out I would love to see one restored with a 6.2lsx camed supercharger
Great job i just wish we had a 2 door moon roof coupe and a rag top convertible like the actual impala from 1958- 1979 model
Pro tip comin from a impala owner myself. Chevyy onlyy put out the 96 in black because theyy were built an bought for use as police interceptors. These cars are the best as I see for the SS impalas.
Let it go. GM? Making a car that people really really crave and want to come back? Yeah I'm totally holding my breath....
Chevy… you’re hired 🤝
honestly it would have a modern version of the original LT1(better intake, heads, forged bottom end) and would be procharged(cause its a torque motor. it can use a centrifugal supercharger)
They'd have to make sure they don't steal the design & get sued for millions like they did with the old one lol
I think the wheels don't match. Love the body redesign but the wheels ruin it.
Buy aftermarket.... Problem solved
Agreed. Those wheels would look much better on a BMW
You right,look like bmw wheels
Needs a little less rim and a little more tire and I think it would look a lot better.
those wheels look like the wheels most amateur Forza players put on their cars... in 21inches 😂
I would drive this in a heartbeat.
You should make a modern Chevy SS or the Caprice PPV.
Yes
@@anynonymous1585they still make the caprice
@@beekoolasf9400 ok
looks dope!
I’ve got a 2016 LT that I’m gonna eventually make into my own SS. Dunno what plans are gonna end up as but currently I’m thinking supercharged LSX 🤣💀
Please make videos
Great rendition, I have one as a daily driver. Now make the parts you modified for it.
I have the caprice version of this car (yes LT1 included) I LOVE this year of GM
Now if only it was easy to work on,rwd,v8, and had a full frame then I'd get it
Simply wow , you sir have some serious skill
I think of the modern Caprice as a 4 door Camaro mixed with the new Silverado EV proportions in the front, I liked your design Bembli, clean and tough at the same time.
That looks so good! I’d buy it!
That’s Thug Life on Wheels!!!
I think a satin finish concave wheel would also look good.
Other than that; this guys designs are fantastic 💪🏾👍🏾
You drew a Jaguar from the 90s. Great job.
Chevy needs to make this....and hire this guy
Looks very neat. I always loved this boat. In your redesign I dont like the chrome wheels and the ducktail. Would love to see a clean trunk with no wings or fins
Just looks like a challenger/charger concept you basically made something that's already out there.
That would be a dope model to use for the next Impala
Simply gorgeous. First time veiwer and i am impressed. I subbed.
I love your renderings! What style of photoshop do you use?
I want an SS so bad. Can't wait to own one
Could you sketch up a 1989 Ranger extra cab on 31in Baja terrain tires, 1977 F250 extra cab camper special on 33in baja terrain tires, or 1983 Toyot 4x4 SR5 on 33in mud terrain tires the American version? Your art is amazing!
Nice design I agree the wheels should've been sport rims nsm racing style but sporty, and the Impala badge should've stayed but it's dope 💯💯💯
Damn i wish i could draw , his sketching is so dope
It would look perfect with the original OEM Impala wheels....just made bigger from 15 to about 19 inches with a low profile tire.
Real nice creation man!!!
What program do you use to modify the SS
If Chevrolet wanted to really impress people they would introduce an all new CHEVELLE! 🤓
Day 1 of asking Sketch Monkey to do a Citi golf, if it survived engineering changes in the early 2000s.
Door handles: Ight, I’m out boys
Awesome design!
This is lovely. GM would mess it up though. They'd probably make it fwd with a 2.4 - 3.2L or turn it into an EV.
They bringing the classic back
This being one of my favorite cars to own I do not like the way this “redesign” went down it seems kind of lazy to me and doesn’t really fit the personality the impala ss has but you have a ton of other videos I love keep doing what you do 🫡
This is my dream car it's crazy it still go for 10 15 grand smh🤦🏾♂️
You know how hard it is to find one of these bad boys?! I'm a Mopar guy....but I'd love to get my hands on one of these things!! I think this would have looked better with the new Corvette Taillights; you think you could do a quick rendition with those? I think those would look great.
Come to Indianapolis indiana they are everywhere here all day
You got a mean sketch game yes siiiiir
Hell yeah!
beautiful car by any standard
