@@xtacticalnukex4 I think you're missing the joke - that whole bit is a reference to the Ocean dub when Vegeta uses the fake moon to transform against Goku, he tells him that his father was 'an average fighter but a brilliant scientist' and says he invented the technique for doing the fake moon - it's ridiculous because it was made up out of thin air by the company that did the dub, there's nothing about any of that in the manga or original japanese dub.

Bardock never said "Crap baskets" in the Father of Goku special so him saying it should be a clue to the truth. The truth being "none of this is real". Gohan was dreaming about Goku telling him a story about Bardock. Therefore, the whole story never happened. Bardock died with Planet Vegeta to Freeza's Death Ball. He never went back in time and never became a Super Saiyan. It was all a dream.

It's only now, on my most recent re-watch, that I realize the ancient saiyans finding bardock "near death, in a valley not too far from here" means our little rapper aliens had to *walk through the valley of the shadow of death* to find Bardock. In the original dub, since Anime did not really do well in America, they decided to make Goku more like Superman. Thus they did call Bardock a scientist like Superman’s father. I didn’t make this up, it is known, look it up.
Which is why we praise Dragon Ball Minus and Dragon Ball Super Broly, really cleared that whole scientist thing up... and by "cleared up" I mean threw out the window and back to Superman where it belongs.
I like how Bardock asks BC or AD, implying that there was, at one point, a Space Christ. It was probably a low class Saiyan Warrior. They were definitely Bardock's ancestor.

It was the ocean dub. I don't know what the original line was. So they made a joke about that
The "brilliant scientist" line was just something completely made up by the Ocean dub, since I assume they didn't know the Bardock special was a thing. People initally took it at face value since kids didn't have Bardock either until the Bardock special was aired and everyone was like "hey wait a minute..."
