      False there’s no difference in the engine unless you get eco or sport which eco they only add a turbo and sport it’s just the way it sounds and a little bit carbon fiber.

    I have a 2016 Elantra Value Edition and will probably get another Value Edition when my lease is up at the end of the year. Only feature I miss from my Subaru days (not counting AWD) is the power drivers seat!!! I like everything but leather seats, which are horrible in hot humid NJ summers. Also looking at new Accord but that's another $4000 and not sure if I want to spend more.

    I have been kinda beating myself up for not getting the sport for 2k more , but idk I had a fusion 1.5 turbo before I got this car and the economy I noticed did suffer on these smaller engines with turbo . So idk people are claiming great mileage out of the sport , but I still think it gets worse then the 2.0 by at least a few mpg . I have a value edition 2018, and I love the car power is actually ok even with the 2.0 for a economy car it’s not bad . I went into this getting the best value I could for the price while still saving money . I still think the value edition may be the best bang for the buck as far as features , and cost . We will see

    • @BryanVGK23
      @BryanVGK23 6 лет назад

      Caleb Niederhofer I’m torn. The sport is really tempting my budget is 18-19k out the door. Not easy to get on the sport but it can be done from what I’ve read. Or I can go base engine and save a few thousand for other things

    • @calebniederhofer678
      @calebniederhofer678 6 лет назад +1

      Bryan M honestly as far as value , I got the value edition . It really has everything you need minus leather seats . It’s the the best deal out there for price , and options. Above value you can talk them down , but are still looking at probably 2-2500k difference to get the sport . You can get the manual cheaper , drive both . If your goal is all about saving , money get the value edition . If it’s to get good mileage and have a little fun get the sport. Just keep in mind sport while is more fun to drive , does ride a little stiffer , insurance will cost a little more not much , and tires will cost more . So just factor everything in .

    • @calebniederhofer678
      @calebniederhofer678 6 лет назад

      Bryan M one thing I will say , is the Performance out of the 2.0 Elantra is more then fine for commuting. I have no problem doing 80-85 all day and still getting great mileage . My thinking being a car guy , is if I want a sports car I will get a mustang , sti, something like that . I wanted fuel economy , and saving money . I wish I would have got the sport sometimes , but I wouldn’t been getting the mileage I do either.

      Caleb Niederhofer I just want brand new this time tired of guessing with used cars but don’t have a big budget and the value seems like a happy medium of everything I want. What type of deal were you able to negotiate out the door on yours? I know they have various rebates/cash back throughout the year.

    • @calebniederhofer678
      @calebniederhofer678 6 лет назад +1

      Bryan M around 18k walk out here is about what you are looking at . Don’t go in though call around get prices , then go in don’t play games tell them you want walk out price on the phone.

    you got the engine wrong, its not a general direct injection, its old school dohc ...refined though,still great engine....baffles me why they didnt include a GDI when it comes with the new Accent standard

    • @leozero_
      @leozero_ 5 лет назад +4

      Thank God they didn't include a GDI engine! I don't need an extra 20 horse power, the engine is powerful enough. Also I would prefer reliability over carbon build up & expensive fuel injectors to clean & replace. More companies should ditch their GDI engines for port injected ones. If you want a sporty car get a Mazda 3, people get the Elantra because of practicality. Not every car needs to be a sports car, this is an economy car that should last a long time & Hyundai did a great job with this engine.
      Port injected, timing chain, Atkinson cycle, engine compartmentalization, cut outs in the skid panel; they literately designed this entire car for reliability & ease of maintenance. I have never owned a car with such a simple yet effective engine. Complexity is the breeding ground of problems, simplicity promotes an environment of reliability. I'm only on my first year of ownership though from the more than extensive research I've put into this car & it's mechanics I can say without a doubt that it will be reliable as a whole. I understand Hyundai has a bad rep from their 2013 Elantras though there was nothing wrong with that engine. That was an issue in manufacturing which lead to the metal shavings & was isolated to engines produced in America. Also after that incident you can be guaranteed that they will never allow for anything like it to happen again. Similar as to how Samsung had to recall all Galaxy Note 7's, people still believe Samsung has battery issues though they put more research & development into their batteries than any manufacturer now & have absurdly extensive quality control checks in place so they don't repeat the same issue.

      @leozero_ 5 лет назад +2

      @Sinon Khoun I wonder, so many people seem to get "great" deals on these cars. Are they really great or does Hyundai say the price is $20,000 but sell them for like $16,000 so we think we're getting a deal? If so it's extremely effective.

    Sam, I value your professional opinion on cars because you seem to have a sensible perspective. You don't compare a sub-$20k Hyundai to a $50k Mercedes, citing it's not as good a car in comparison, like some other auto critics. I bought a 2018 Elantra SEL and I'm extremely happy with it so far. All the competition I looked at was either much more expensive or flat-out crap, in terms of customer satisfaction. The Elantra seemed like the sweet spot in this segment between price and overall quality.
