Recovered 145 stolen cars in just 5 days. That's shows how rampant car theft in Oakland and Bay Area. Wish CHP would stay longer unannounced and see how many more they can arrest and recovered more stolen cars. Oakland desperately needs help enforcing laws to curve growing crimes. And of course as long as the DA doesn't drop the charges and let them go.
That's alone is a pretty impressive number.
It also shows you how inept the leadership of Oakland is.
OAKLAND needs to pay its police to enforce the law and their mayor and DA to make sure there is punishment not apologies for criminals. Oakland voted to let this happen - no need for the rest of CA to pay for incredibly bad decisions. If I shove my hand into a boat propeller - it isn't your job to pay for my surgery or funeral - I made a dumbass decision with obvious results.
Guy stole my uncles work truck, he located it, called cops as they were disassembling it in broad daylight and they just never showed up
Safe to say, the officers had an impressive impact and yes now let's see if the DA can finish their jobs.

As long as the D.A. is a "progressive" person, no amount of arrests will make any difference. Car theft needs to carry LONG jail sentences. Stolen cars are used for every type of crime: Shootings, retail theft, assaults, etc. Without stolen cars, criminals would have to use their cars (or family members) therefore, getting caught AFTER the crime.
This is the most sensible comment on this thread.

this is the usa, we have a process. it starts with arrests. they could have been dropped due to bad cops just arresting to meet their quota. guess you just assume that all 71 arrests that all were guilty right? no hearing no trial, j,ust want all 71 to be guilty right? because there are no bad cops out here that make bad arrests right?

I've been saying for the longest time that, simple traffic enforcement will eliminate most of the crime. These punks are not only driving around in unregistered vehicles without a license and insurance, a lot of them are driving around in stolen vehicles.

9 to 1 odds that more than half of those arrested 4 days ago have been released by now with a future court appearance date. As for the ones still in custody, the vast majority will be sentenced to time already served (say 2 weeks) and be fined $500 to $1000, which they'll never pay.

Grewsome would do real help if he sent Attorney General prosecutors to prosecute in Oakland. These little drive by extra patrols re just for the snapshots and buzzwords.
