Here's a vlog of two more days of cruising up the Avon, from Comberton Quay where the last vlog ended, through Pershore and Evesham, and up to Offenham. I went through a lot of locks, all of which were rather turbulent and one of which had a puzzle to keep you guessing.

I am most impressed not only by the quality of your videos, but by the fact that you always reply to people who leave comments. Apart from being good PR, it suggests that your really are a diamond geezer. Er, that's it.

I still have no idea after six months why this channel ended up in my suggestions, but apparently the RUclips algorithm knows something I don’t. I’m mesmerised by the videos, how they are put together, and it’s such a relaxing treat to watch them. Thank you, and safe voyages.

Thank You David. I’ve enjoyed your videos several times through the series. It was a nice treat to see your new posting. Like a Sunday morning present. We appreciate what you’re doing. Thank You for giving us all a glimpse and escape into a more calm life than our regular corporate rat race. Ahhhh another 10-15 minutes of calm, quiet, and relaxing pleasure. Steve. I'm surely not the only one who watches the video on one monitor while using a second monitor and Google Maps to see the rest of the area. It's enjoyable to watch, even though I'm thousands of miles away and have no real interest in boating. Keep up the fantastic work!

I live on an island off of Canada’s west coast, in the heart of a temperate rainforest. I’m surround by brilliant green water filled with life, mountains capped with snow, spectacular First Nations art and a year round mild climate... by any description, paradise.
All that, and I can’t get over how beautiful the UK country side is in your vlogs.

I live in Evesham and I’ve just been looking through your videos to find this! Brilliant video highlighting the beauty of the town, especially with the centre piece of the river! Loved recognising all of the landmarks you highlighted, as the town isn’t one that is ‘widely’ known. We had a massive food in 2007 which is why there is a lot of flood protection etc. in place. The park that sits to the left following the Rowing Club did once house the Abbey which was connected to the Bell Tower and Church up to the top . Obviously, Henry VIII had it destroyed in the dissolution of the monasteries! Loved seeing you cover the town so well!

I'm going through your videos for the 2nd time now , mostly because (a) they are truly delightful , and take place mostly in my old stamping ground , the midlands , & (b) during lockdown , it's such a pleasure to watch the gentle pace and quiet enjoyment to be taken from the scenery and lapping of the water against the hull. It's lottery night tonight 01/09/20. If I win , I may join on you , cruising the cut :)

I am still amazed at the engineering and work it took to make the rivers and canals navigable. And when you see a bridge from the 15th century still standing you have to admire the workmanship.
I wonder just how much of our public works will be around in 400 years.

This is a reminder of my only narrow boat experience : 35 years ago with my daughter and her cousin, both 10, and we were joined by a friend for the first 2 nights. We went as far as Pershore in one direction and Stratford upon Avon in the other. The only mishaps were a bash trying to get into the Evesham lock going towards Pershore and losing the canal guide due to a sudden gust of wind.
Whenever we went through locks or had to tie up, the 10 year old cousin became a crack hand at taking the tiller while I did the potentially risky bits. We had a fabulous time and still talk about it too this day.

Hi! I've only recently started watching but working my way through all your vlogs and thoroughly enjoying. I'm a merchant captain by trade but interested in getting a narrow boat later on in life! I don't know if someone has suggested this already but the sheer you experienced in the big locks could be down to bank effect. This is due to pressure differences at the bow as the water pushes through the water causing an area of high pressure. Water then accelerates down the side of the boat causing an area of low pressure. The consequence of this is that the bow will sheer away from a bank, or lock wall. This would be less noticeable in small locks or even counteracted as both sides of the bow would be sheering off each wall but could be felt in the much wider locks. Apologies if you already know of this! Google 'ship interaction' if you want to know more

Glad you like the videos. Yes, a few other people have also suggested that in the comments but I like to think it's mystical river creatures playing havoc with me ;-)

These "alive" trees are willows used for basket-weaving. The young, flexible stalks are harvested for baskets, garden chairs or other wicker goods, so they never get the opportunity to grow solid big branches. Meanwhile the trunks can keep growing little by little, not much due to not having big lush branches to provide nutrients, but they can keep growing for hundreds of years providing generations with basket-weaving material.

Very nice trip. Well nice for me as I didn't get bounced around the Locks. Those Tudor houses looked almost original.Portraiture of Queen Elizabeth I popped into my head covered with jewels and expensively draped in yards and yards of fabric killing the working class with taxes to pay for it all. Just love color coding. It's so fast and easy. So relaxing to watch your vlog I think I need a lie down.😋

You are very fortunate to be able sail a boat mostly through England. Come to Australia and we only have one river that has a bit of distance attached to it but the rest, well you would be fortunate to see water in them. If I lived in England I would join you on the water ways. It’s not a sit on the bum and steer the boat but a bit of fun/work whatever you may call it to navigate through the locks. Lucky you.

I don't do anything, just eat some food, watch a bit of telly and go to bed. Nothing worth vlogging.

Sorry that is not meant as a criticism. It was meant as delightful video for a Sunday afternoon to watch. Love your work

I love these vids. Reminds me of when I was a kid piloting our boat on the waterway off the lake. (trent-severn waterway off lake simcoe in Ontario) Weir enjoying the slow relaxed atmosphere you create. Moor please!

Yes, Evesham is a pretty place. I lived at Chadbury nr Evesham for 12 months. Enjoyed everyday. Wide range of shops, Waitrose, Within walking distance to the Workman’s gardens. Tesco, M&S, Next, Boots and B&M a little distance away. But a nice stroll. Well worth a stop
