Ahhhhh that's better. After a stressful week your vlog has restorative properties. They always do. The scenery is truly stunning. Thank you for sharing
Loving the vlog; have just binge watched them all (Between jobs right now). Originally from Wolverhampton we used to play down the cut as kids (around Aldersley Junction). Family were bargees (father's mother and 3 generations prior), Used to take coal to the Cadbury factory in Bourneville. Am now sadly marooned here in a country without any canals; New Zealand. Your vlog has made me homesick but have also fed my, possibly epigenetic, desire to see English canals. Take care, Andrew.
I was on the canals long ago in the 60s. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were far far fewer narrowboats and liveaboards on the canals back then and our 30ft cruiser had a marinised A45 engine and ran on petrol. The problem with petrol engines is that fumes gather in the bottom of the boat and there is always a danger of explosions. So you gotta be careful. I have always longed to go back on the canals, but the problem is that many other things took priority. I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing.
The only ones you see with petrol these days are outboards, usually on GRP cruisers but the occasional tiny narrowboat. Glad you like the video. Lots more of my journey on my channel. Cheers
Very enjoyable. The stretch of canal with the verdant overhanging trees and greenery lit by morning light was truly wonderful. Reminded me somewhat of the spirit of an early Cezanne painting.
Hi David, Just watched the latest vlog, it gave me an "easy like Sunday morning" moment. We both really enjoy your style and humour. I'm sure everybody is hoping you'll continue these blogs for many months (nay years) to come. Cheers.
One again, your vlog is much appreciated, as is the fact that you take the time to reply to the majority of us who post comments here. Oh, and the Mr Benn reference was comedy gold.
I love listening and watching your adventures in the canals. I recently heard your comment ...you won't cook, I respect that but I think what your audience really wants to see is a little bit more of your life inside your longboat home...after a days adventure. Mooring up, fixing a cup of tea, summing up your day.
The audience is going to have to imagine ;-) I don't do anything much because I'm either on the laptop / ipad responding to RUclips/Facebook/Twitter/Email or watching RUclips or TV. So it would be a very dull video. By the way, they're not called "long boats", those are what the Vikings used to roam around in. These are narrowboats.
I’ve just taken this cruise again with you.. Had to smile remembering your “don’t cook “ statements in the past... have since enjoyed some lovely cooking demos with you... bread... scones.. can’t remember what else... never say never..😬👍🙃🇦🇺👨🍳🍞
New subscriber…Your channel is fascinating to me for reasons I can’t quite put my finger on. Sometimes the YT magic does find the right content/right creator to give you what you didn’t know you needed.
Such a beautiful section of the canal network - that's what narrowboating is all about; overhanging trees and the sunshine sparkling on the water on a hot summer's day - perfect!!
Really outstanding video and narrative, as always. When I was a teenager, in the 1960's, I worked on a river boat and found that I experienced an unexpected excitement when going through a lock because of the chance to exchange pleasantries with somebody from the outside world and I wondered if you ever feel like that. You give up a lot to live on the boat, but you gain so many experiences and life long memories that I think it is worth doing. I appreciate you sharing this adventure with us.
Hi, the lock style gate you mentioned is one of a pair, the other being at the “congested” bridge as you left your moorings and are designed to swing shut in the event of the aqueduct breeching.
Very nice scenes, especially the scene at the end with the Duck and her ducklings, beautiful! With so much goodness in such abundance, it is hard to appreciate it all..... properly.... Thank you! Cheers, and as always, God bless
What a beautiful part of the country, it's ever so peaceful and scenic wherever you look, another great vlog, thanks a lot for taking us with you on your journeys.
Also binge watching like many others. Grew up in Drayton. Fell in the cut while fishing right next to the mill you showed (which is now flats) and caught weils. Also Tyrley is pronounced Tur-lee 🙂 Great videos
I liked the fact you called them "A Flock" of cows 🐮 I think that's a cool collective for them. I really enjoyed the scenery, laughed at the swan he was so cocky. Thanks, always great to watch and listen to you.
Greetings from Phoenix, Arizona USA. I am totally hooked now with your travels. Excellent presentation, added side notes and perfect camera attractions to enjoy. Safe boating, Thank You.
I love this stretch. It turns out my grandma grew up in those gorgeous cottages at Tyrley locks around the turn of the last century, which makes it a very poignant spot for me whenever I pass.
wow the exposure on the intro to this video look surreal, it honestly looks like you have an expensive lighting setup with fill lights and reflectors everywhere :D clearly this isnt the case and its just a case of the perfect lighting and perfect surroundings.
Lol. That swan was basically telling you "you are not on Canal time. You are on Swan time now, baby. We own these parts." 🦢 They look so innocent but they are a cheeky bunch.
Again. I have enjoyed your journey on the Canals.....Very interesting the different types of locks you have to encounter....Can wait till your next one.....Well done......
you have a good life there are some lovely places in england i was a lorry driver and wow i have seen some beautiful places in england out of this world.carry on the good work.
Well David, you've enlightened me into looking into a narrow boat of my own, all over again. Been on many holidays, always look forward to your videos. All the best Grant
Thanks for this video - I grew up in Audlem and well remember the lock flight (we used to help set the locks during our holidays when we had nothing better to do!)
This was one of the best so far and it’s 2 years old. The final shot from where you were spending the night was beautiful. What a great place to live, a canal and locks in the back yard. Wonderful.
I'm perfectly well aware of the correct terms. If, nonetheless, I wish to refer to them otherwise when waxing lyrical in my vlogs then that's exactly what I'll do. If you want a factual documentary. watch the BBC!
Tree tunnels 😏 historical buildings 👍flock of cows 😁 obstinate goose😒 more tree tunnels😏 calming greenery😏 and Mother and baby ducks👍. Such a great video, David, you never disappoint ❤
10:41 oh god that pink cottage in the distance makes me desperately homesick but I've never lived in a pink cottage my whole life?? Weird. It definitely looks like a place you'd wanna come home to after years on the run from the law.
Never" herd" of a flock of cows. Actually a canal boat guy I have been following for a few weeks just went through those 15 locks so some of the things were quite familiar in this video. ATB from NZ .
David. I just watched a blog on floods in the canals. Have you had any in you journey. They looked a tad scary.👍🇦🇺. Nice to hear you are all clean again.🤣🤣🤣
Thankyou for your very professionally made but light-hearted look at life on a canal boat I suffer from PTSD and you videos have helped me so much deal with this
I have zero boating experience, and rarely get out on any natural body of water here in the mid-west U.S. It's very interesting to peer into this activity and/or lifestyle. So, thank you for these relaxing and fascinating vlogs.
It may be that the swans are surfing on the bow wave of the boat. Not full-on feet-up pipelining, but just getting a bitty boost from the water mounding up in front of the bow. Swans or not, always a pleasure to watch.
Regarding what appear to be lock gates, one each end of the embankment at Nantwich. I think you'll find they are indeed alternative to stop boards, they would operate automatically if the embankment was breached, it would be impossible to put stop boards without draining a fair amount of the canal. Our share boat is based at Nantwich marina.
Such lovely scenery! I enjoy watching your vlogs given how peaceful and scenic they all are. I think it' would be stellar to live on a narrowboat and just cruise the canals and see all the sights.
We're just back from a 3 month cruise and have caught up with your vlog, you're now on the route we took and its absurdly exciting to see you mooring at places we moored ! We didn't like the Tyrely flight of locks , I added a good few scrapes to the boat there. Enjoyable vlog as usual .
You really appreciate the countryside - it’s lovely to take time and take it all in with you. What life this is if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare...
Nicely done once again David ;-) Lot's of tip's and eye openers loverly scenery plenty for us all to visit :-) keep them coming still working through your 101 Vlogs :-)
One of my favorite things about this channel is that I can follow along with google maps and see the areas that you are talking about from there
Same here.
Ahhhhh that's better. After a stressful week your vlog has restorative properties. They always do. The scenery is truly stunning. Thank you for sharing
That and a large G&T! Cheers
When I need to unwind and relax I was a few episodes of Cruising The Cut. Lovely and often beautiful. Great narration!!! - Terry Mengle USA.
I am a 73 year old American lady but young at heart and love your videos
Thanks for another moment of escapism, worth every minute of the editing.
Good, thank you :-)

Wow, a real bit of proper canal history there in your family! Glad the videos bring back memories. Cheers
Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones was born in to a family of bargees. Wood was born in Hillingdon, west of London.
For some reason I always find your vlogs very relaxing. Thank you.
Good! Thanks
Narrow boating agrees with you David. You are looking very fit and healthy. Beautiful video as always. Thank you.
I felt good too! Cheers
Red Arrows with farm equipment Lol loved it.
:-)

I love to relax with a cup of Joe and take in the bucolic, pastoral scenery. It just doesn't get old. Thanks David! ~Eric
That's the way to watch! Cheers Eric.
Your sense of humor gives me the giggles
Very enjoyable. The stretch of canal with the verdant overhanging trees and greenery lit by morning light was truly wonderful. Reminded me somewhat of the spirit of an early Cezanne painting.
I turn onto the Staffs and Worcest soon and there's lots of green corridors, I think you'll like them.
Hi David,
Just watched the latest vlog, it gave me an "easy like Sunday morning" moment. We both really enjoy your style and humour.
I'm sure everybody is hoping you'll continue these blogs for many months (nay years) to come.
Cheers.
For a while yet, at least :-)
11:58 - I half expected to see Old Mister Bilbo lounging in the shade having a smoke of "Old Toby" in his pipe.
One again, your vlog is much appreciated, as is the fact that you take the time to reply to the majority of us who post comments here. Oh, and the Mr Benn reference was comedy gold.
Haha, it won't travel overseas though!
3:03 the topless gent with the cup of tea in one hand and the rope in the other... what a power move

You're right, there's a lot of good casual chat to be had with passers-by and other boaters!
Hi, the lock style gate you mentioned is one of a pair, the other being at the “congested” bridge as you left your moorings and are designed to swing shut in the event of the aqueduct breeching.
Another winning video. This was more fun that the not unpleasant colonoscopy I had first this this morning. All is well.
Almost a case of swan-upturning there. :) Lovely video and gorgeous shots of rural England. Thanks.
It came close! Cheers
Great adventure! Lovely scenery & your quirky narrative- what more could we want ??? Thanks for sharing
Thank you Deb, pleased you liked it
Quite a warming video..Thank You Sir....
Very nice scenes, especially the scene at the end with the Duck and her ducklings, beautiful! With so much goodness in such abundance, it is hard to appreciate it all..... properly.... Thank you! Cheers, and as always, God bless
Absolutely! Cheers
Great, many thanks for taking the time to make this for us.
What a beautiful part of the country, it's ever so peaceful and scenic wherever you look, another great vlog, thanks a lot for taking us with you on your journeys.
Cheers Peter
You just calmed my day, so I thank you for the splendid peace and quiet.
Good :-)
Oh thanks David, I've now got the Mr Ben theme tune stuck in my head !!
The fog is so beautiful! Peaceful.
It was rather beautiful, I agree
A flock of cows David? Oh deary me, and then a pack? I always thought cows were a herd, but never mind, LOL! Another great vlog as usual!
I choose to describe them how I like!
"...not to worry, there's a man balancing on plank over to the right..." 😂
The Swan j walking had me in stitches and the scenery just keeps on getting better and better.
I've never known what "jay walking" is...
Also binge watching like many others. Grew up in Drayton. Fell in the cut while fishing right next to the mill you showed (which is now flats) and caught weils. Also Tyrley is pronounced Tur-lee 🙂 Great videos
Glad you enjoy them
Gorgeous scenery. loved the misty morning
Very straight, hardly boring!
It was a bit. I began to miss blind corners!
I liked the fact you called them "A Flock" of cows 🐮 I think that's a cool collective for them. I really enjoyed the scenery, laughed at the swan he was so cocky. Thanks, always great to watch and listen to you.
Thanks Carole. They felt like a flock to me ;-)

What a great VLOG! I bet you were glad of the kind lock-keeper at 8:30 :)
A lifesaver!
I had a chuckle at 'Lump of locks'. You never fail David.
Yes the shropie is a very beautiful canal a lot greener than when we went through over Christmas last year!. Keep them coming we do enjoy you vlogs.
Thanks, more soon.
Pedantry...it's not a combine but a forage harvester making silage for dairy cattle.
Always enjoy your vlogs. Your narrative is always great. It almost makes one think they are there. Keep up the good work.
Well Wishes from the U.S.
That's lovely to hear, thank you
Lol. That swan was basically telling you "you are not on Canal time. You are on Swan time now, baby. We own these parts." 🦢 They look so innocent but they are a cheeky bunch.

Good evening, David. Thumbs up, and thank you for a bucolic trip down the Shroppie. Lovely. ~Maggie and Dave, Vermont, US

Much adventure in this episode. Quite lovely, though.
Happy Camping

Locks! They’re like speed bumps for very slow traffic.
Stunningly beautiful area of the country. Working through your vlog, slowly catching up.
:-)
Thanks for the tour,Sir.Beautiful landscape 😎🇺🇸🇬🇧👍🍺
Thanks Charlie, glad you liked it.
What an excellent way to get around! Very cool use of old infrastructure. Greetings from Canada!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
One of the best so far. worth the wait as always.
Thank you
Just brilliant! Exhausting just thinking about all those locks, great commentary and some of the best 17mins of my last week 😀😀 Thank you
Lol, "a man on a plank" :) Amazing to think they are now being allowed in some tunnels. Maaaaddddd . . .
Yes, that is terrifying. Probably more so for the man on the plank.
Tree tunnels 😏 historical buildings 👍flock of cows 😁 obstinate goose😒 more tree tunnels😏 calming greenery😏 and Mother and baby ducks👍. Such a great video, David, you never disappoint ❤
Lovely summary!
"obstinate goose😒" I cannot stop laughing at this for some reason, thank you very much lol.

You've done it again, wonderful peaceful trip... "Romans Built it." but the views are the best.... again improving my mental health... Thanks David.
As always amazing scenery, awesome narration. Your videos calm me, I feel like I'm flying there on my own.
Great! Good to hear :-)
Imagine seeing Hyacinth and Richard, with her passion for riparian activities.

Ah lovely stuff! Been waiting all week to see your next upload after a stressful week at work. Thanks David.
Good, glad it helps!!
What can I say? Your vlogs are poetry with pictures! Thanks!
Haha, thank you!
David. I just watched a blog on floods in the canals. Have you had any in you journey. They looked a tad scary.👍🇦🇺. Nice to hear you are all clean again.🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant vlogs David, have to agree with you, that stretch of the canal has some outstanding scenery. Look forward to the next vlogs. . Good luck.
Thanks Liam :-)
A very pleasant and peacefull trip once again.
Ta
such earnest in your style - it elicits a sense of trusting openness
Good :-)
Another brilliant vlog. That swan had real attitude! Thank you for sharing your journey!
He was only going to let me by in his own sweet time!
Thankyou for your very professionally made but light-hearted look at life on a canal boat I suffer from PTSD and you videos have helped me so much deal with this
I'm glad they are of help
Maybe the swan was the local tour guide LOL
I have zero boating experience, and rarely get out on any natural body of water here in the mid-west U.S. It's very interesting to peer into this activity and/or lifestyle. So, thank you for these relaxing and fascinating vlogs.

Swans or not, always a pleasure to watch.
That brings back memories. I've not been on the Shroppie for many years. I particularly liked the "flock" of cows! ;-)
I put that in to annoy all the pedants. It seems to have worked :-)
Beautiful scenery and funny commentary, great combination, thank you :) I think you should have brought that cow on board!
Very nice vlog as usual! Beautiful sceneries and great narrative!! Looking forward to see the next one! :)
Thank you

What a beautiful video David. You've done yourself proud. Superb countryside, lots and lots of locks, entertaining wildlife and many boats. Brilliant!
One of the more beautiful stretches I've followed along with you. (As ever, too short a journey for my liking) Thank you sincerely!
Very beautiful journey, thank you for sharing your amazing video
Thank you
Such lovely scenery! I enjoy watching your vlogs given how peaceful and scenic they all are. I think it' would be stellar to live on a narrowboat and just cruise the canals and see all the sights.
Wow! Some of those views of fields and rolling hills are enough to make one stop and grow roots.
We're just back from a 3 month cruise and have caught up with your vlog, you're now on the route we took and its absurdly exciting to see you mooring at places we moored ! We didn't like the Tyrely flight of locks , I added a good few scrapes to the boat there. Enjoyable vlog as usual .
Not surprised about the scrapes - awkward flight!! Cheers
Awesome video David . yes I do agree your videos are very relaxing. Thank you for sharing :-)
I am very pleased :-)
"Not to worry there's a man balancing on a plank on the short arm" genius love it 👍
:-)
You really appreciate the countryside - it’s lovely to take time and take it all in with you. What life this is if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare...
Nicely done once again David ;-) Lot's of tip's and eye openers loverly scenery plenty for us all to visit :-) keep them coming still working through your 101 Vlogs :-)
Glad you liked it!
I'm tired just watching you work all those locks! Enjoyed the video though... really beautiful and peaceful views.
It was a fair bit of effort!
Loved watching your momentum swing, experienced similar bursts.... it finally goes away.
