Continuing down the Shropshire Union canal and going under an awful lot of bridges. I mean, a really amazing number in quick succession including one very well-known one. Plus a water refill and a bit of stickiness as I try to be a good boater.

Well, well - thank you. So it really IS a lot narrower!
I understand these little boats to be known as waterbugs.

Best way to spend a lazy morning.. Cup of tea and watching "Cruising the Cut". Thanks for the wonderful videos and allowing us to come along on your adventures..
Thank you for watching, much appreciated.
An absolutely beautiful part of the network, filmed equally beautifully :) !
:-)
What a lovely stretch of canal. When I see those beautiful bridges I cannot help but imagine the artisans actually building them. Each I think is a work of art.
Agreed.
Fantastic history, thanks.
Your videos are one of the few subscriptions that I truly wish were longer and more frequent. They are informative, entretaining, well edited and relaxing. Keep up the great work.
Very kind! Alas, too much work to do more often / longer (and I'd run out of material in the end) cheers
A good strong cuppa and 11 minutes cruising the canals with John -- life is good.
Glad you enjoy them. (PS It's David but my surname is Johns, loads of people end up calling me John!)
Whoops! Sorry David.
:-)
What the hell was I that tea?
Great job again David. Magic bit of the cut you have just gone through. Canals at their best. Thanks..
Very lovely indeed, although the next canal I go on to (Staffs and Worcs) is also very magical as you will see!
Looking forward to it.. :-)
Haha I do love the vlog title puns :-) after a busy summer it's lovely having so many of these to catch up with in one binge now..lovely stuff as ever especially the breathtaking scenery!
I hope you enjoy your catch-up!
Lovely journey you were not kidding about the bridges, passing the classic engine was a treat I love the sound
Congratulations on your vlog and the extraordinary settings of your country.
This network of channels is a unique exceptional wealth that deserves to be protected.
Agreed!
I think the Shropshire Canal is one of my favorites of all you have shown us. I couldn’t imagine going back to a busy life after cruising the canals.
I am sitting here in St. John's, Newfoundland, watching your vlogs and being incredibly envious. The next time I am in Britain I am really going to try to get a few days on a narrowboat hotel.
Just insanely beautiful scenery in this one 😍
Wonderful vlog today, David. I loved the bridges and ivy-covered trees, and... that tiny tiny narrowboat! It was adorable!
:-) Cheers Jenny. I'm hoping someone in the comments will have more info about that peculiar little boat!
love your updates, thanks so much again!
Thank you!
it's hard to beat the calming and beauty of the countryside and canals.
True
Super as always, so soothing.
Cheers
Ahh, memories. It is all as lovely as I remember. Some of the most beautiful canal scenery you will find. The names as well.
Thanks for the memories, David.
Really enjoyed this vlog - What a treat to watch one where the images are beautiful AND in focus and the shots are long enough so that we can appreciate the view. We have been watching other vlogs that struggle on the technical side. We give "Cruising the Cut" 10 out of 10 for artistic and 10 out of 10 for technical presentation!!! We are so grateful you continue to produce these. We have turned others on to your Vlog channel and they feel the same. Well done David! Keep up the great work. Cheers to you!!! from Amherst Island Ontario Canada
Hello. Thank you very much indeed! So pleased you enjoy them and thanks also for spreading the word. Cheers.
You're right this whole stretch has a very ethereal otherworldly look to it. Very Terabithia.
I know it must be annoying to go at a tickoverk past so many boats but it makes very pretty viewing for us. I love seeing the various kinds of boats and how they get painted and decorated.
Brilliant vlog as ever. I get a faint sense of bereavement when it's over.
Oh gosh, I am so sorry for your loss ;-)
exactly, coming back to the real world is a bit sad.
That's just how I feel too! :) ... the final notes of the end credit music remind me of that moment when Last of the Summer Wine finished when I was small [in a good way!] knowing I had to wait another week to watch the next episode.
Oh, at least a week. I don't have a schedule, remember, it's only "as and when I feel like it" ;-)
So much greenery😏❤ thanks for another great video, David 😏✌
Thanks Julie :-)
Oh joy, put the kettle on... another canal wondering can't wait..... Cheers.
Love the little small short narrow boat it look like you were going to middle earth that was really cool
Fabulous vlog.....facinating and gorgeous scenery really enjoyed watching it
Great, thank you
"Because they're awesome" Best. Quotation. Ever.
:-)
Life along the water, so much green, so much peace there's nothing better!
Great work David. Life is quite difficult at the moment but I always get a snippet of peace of mind when watching your vlogs. They should probably be available from the NHS.
Oddly enough I have recently been doing some filming work for the NHS but it wasn't canal videos!
The Shropshire Union looks beautiful.
Thank you, David. Another entertaining vlog with beautiful scenery and your witty commentary.
Thanks Pamela
So very relaxing.
Oh boy I needed this before I start my day. Thank you and have a lovely day.
Splendid, and you too!
One of my favs so far
Very relaxing and peaceful 😊
Lovely peaceful scenery, I liked the bridges that several times gave perfect mirror images in the water.
Every bridge is a beautiful image :-)
Great Vlogs as always, many thanks.
Ta
Really enjoyed that, thanks D!
Thank you
Another beautiful VLOG. Thank you so very much.
Cheers Rick
Wow! Stunning scenery and beautiful old bridges. Interesting about the "turning" bridge. Love the bits of history. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers
Beautiful country & great bridges.
Thank you David for this great post, you went through some beautiful countryside everything is so green 'sigh'
Very green!
I'm in danger of letting the whole day go, watching your compelling and very enchanting videos. I know this stretch (and many others featured) from regular waterways holidays with friends, one of whom is a boat owner, so it's all coming back to life. I've had a 'canal-break' for a few years, but am minded to to take to the waters again after soaking up such delightful footage. The boat in question still goes out and is, at this very moment, being fitted with a new Beta Marine engine: if the work runs to schedule (which it almost certainly won't), I may be on the cut in the next few weeks. If I see you, you will assured of a cheery and very appreciative greeting.
Superb, and a shiny new engine too - I'd love a shiny new engine :-)
Loved the Video. I moored at norbury junction for 4 years It's a lovely lock free place.
Yes, plenty of easy cruising from there! Cheers
Those bridges are straight out of “Lord of the Rings”!
I love Woods Eves cutting - ovehanging trees and those tall bridges invoke such a fantastic sense of mystery and wonder along the waterway!!
I always look forward to your videos. Thanks.
Thank you :-)
that title deserves 10 points :D
;-)
Nice relaxing vlog David. To think that cut was all done by hand boggles the mind! Thanks for taking us all on your journey, lovely stuff.
Indeed! I'm sure there may have been some dynamite as well but they didn't have boring machines or suchlike.
That is some of the most beautiful architecture anywhere.
So many pretty bridges.
Thanks for sharing this delightful stretch of canal with us and in such a delightful manner. That cut at the beginning was amazing, it must have been a huge job to make that happen back in the day.
Keep it up please.
More soon, cheers.
That was the cutest narrow boat ever! When you mentioned pulling to the side on those moorings I was saying don't do it it looks shallow! Like you could hear me. Lol. I never get tired of looking at the pastoral country side.
So it was YOUR voice in my head, eh?!!
CruisingTheCut 🔮👳🙉🙊🙈
Nice and relaxing apart from you running aground me hearty ⚓️
Another great vlog, thanks
Cheers
What a cool vlog! Thanks for taking the time. Cheerio from the USA.
Thank you so much for the lovely leafy ride - I just love those bits.
Glad you like it!
What lovely and tranquil places you have been. Always liking your vids, thanking you for sharing a bit of your life .
Thanks for watching :-)
Beautiful so peaceful 👍😊❤️
No cheeky comment from me this time. :) Just going to say this is the most beautiful countryside you've filmed so far. Really enjoyed this.
Always love when a new video is posted, another great video, cheers!!
Thank you
I enjoyed the very tall arches they were beautiful.
I'm getting addicted to these videos....
Growing up in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent, I have walked, biked and evan swam the local canals since childhood. However, I'm embarrassed to say that I have never set foot on a narrowboat. A canal trip is now on my bucket list!
I loved the bridge montage with the sounds of your engine and bird song instead of music!
I enjoyed this beautiful vlog very much. Absolutely gorgeous scenery! Loved all the interesting bridges, especially the tall, thin ones! You know, a compilation of all those bridge pictures into a coffee table book would be fabulous!
Dang it, I should have taken some high-res photos too!
Again I have to say that these vlogs are very well done with a solid rhythm that flows as smooth as the canals themselves, really enjoyable, thank you'
Fantastic title! Lovely vlog as always. Thank you
Glad you liked it :-)
Keep those puns coming David, I love a good pun but find it hard to keep up with the joneses.
Nice to hear someone speaking nice and clearly. Went down through France, in my little Westerly Cirrus sailing boat, last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. The canals are so much bigger there. There's one tunnel 4 Km long and that's interesting. The Cirrus now has it's mast up and is sailing the Med. Happy boating.
Thank you; I'd quite like to try the French canals, maybe I'll take a holiday there one day. Cheers.
I look forward to listening to your blogs thankyou
Glad to hear it, thank you.
Brilliant film once again, I'm really looking forward to your adventures around the Wolverhampton area. Keep them comming 😆
Thanks. I only skirted Wolverhampton but that bit is coming soon.
Another wonderful video, thank you for sharing
Cheers Matt
Someone gave you the thumbs down.. NO WAY.. Your videos are great... what is there not to like about them... Only that there aren't more of them to watch... Appreciate your videos David!!!!!
There's always a handful of thumbs down! Cheers :-)
barrett864 my theory on the thumbsdowns is that they're green with envy. The problem is with them.
barrett864 If I don't get at least 5 per video, I start to think I'm doing something wrong. :)
Really appreciate the beauty of the canals and countryside. Thanks for your commentary and I like that you mention how much you, too, enjoy!
Great vlog as per usual...I have watched every one in my capacity as an armchair gongoozler. Great title - very witty! Keep up the good work!
Thank you, I was very pleased with the title ;-)
Just another reason for saying a big THANK YOU ! Life would not be the same without your regular essential 'doses'.
Cheers Frank!
Beautiful scenery - very ‘other wordly’
Lovely canal , nicely filmed , Did that canal many years ago , your film bought back some memories . Cheers
Great, good to hear :-)
Great video Looks like a really picturesque stretch of canal with some awesome bridges!
It was.
Another interesting vlog, thank you. Had to smile at the title, well done!
Thank you :-)
Good gravy the scenery there is so incredibly beautiful!
Shout out from Telford *waves* I remember playing on the wrekin as a child. Aiming a sled between the eye during snowy times was finger biting
Thank you for the vlog very nice.
Ta
Wow.That is stunning.Thank you so much .It was a wonderful adventure.
Thoroughly enjoyed this - thank you so much. It's my home stretch, and although I live aboard at Norbury Junction, I go boating vicariously through you! Not often that I get out cruising owing to work. :-(
Also so interesting seeing our locality and the lovely bridges & cuttings through yours and your viewers' eyes. Teaches me not to take the beauty out here for granted! Though goodness knows what you'll all think when you see the Llangollen, with all the surrounding hills... It's a treat being on the cut, & no mistake. :-D
Damn that work! I went past the Llangollen, no time for it this year. Some day...
AnDavid - so far I have watched these 102 video with much delight ! Your editing is Excellent . The narration: always informed, and humorous. The Canal: beautiful. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. And now for something completely different. No, no, continuing on to 103, the end of the Gorgeous and interesting cut Shroppie, and all the rest.
Thank you!
really liked the bridge montage. Just something about the brick or stone arches that are so much more pleasant than the modern beam bridges. I love the slight asymmetry of the towpath going under the bridge arch too. Very 'Canal-y'
Another very enjoyable adventure😎👍👏👏
Beautiful view's in this video thank you for the peaceful relaxing views have an amazing day
Lovely montages, I love them.
Another lovely journey. Superb video David - thank you. Love the tall bridges, deep cuttings and beautiful scenery. The double bridge was amazing.
Wow, what a wonderful stretch of canal. Very beautiful.
you are a lucky man being able to live the dream have a great day be safe thanks.
I am! Thanks
Your vlogs are very interesting and commentary is awesome. I am huge fan of narrowboat life. Shipspotting.
Thank you!
Thumbs up! Mmm...lovely, just lovely. Thank you.
Thank you Dave, as ever!
Another beautiful blog, it looks like i am aboard. Thanks again!
Cheers
Marvelous video...The scenery was particularly beautiful and truly awe inspiring....Thank you so very much!!! There are three things from the UK I refuse to miss...Eastenders (guilty pleasure) Midsomer Murders and Cruising the Cut!!! Love it!!
Haha, esteemed company!
You bet it is....each one pure escapism....your vlog has infinitely better production values than either of the other two....lastly, perhaps you could throw in a pub brawl and I could give up Eastenders?
Another good one Dave, keep'em coming.
Thanks
I am so envious of you, David. I so want to live on a narrow boat like you.
Definitely must visit.. excellent David
I adore stone bridges! But I have not seen that many bridges in a 11 minute video in my life .. this is so satisfying thank you,
Those green corridor bridges are gorgeous
