    I know it's not long since the last "not a vlog" but the journey along the Shropshire Union canal was so pretty and so sunny that I couldn't resist making up another compilation. Get a cuppa, put the video to full screen, sit back and relax to this.

    Even without any music or commentary the video is wonderful. The birds songs are more than enough accompaniment.

    My total time on a narrow boat is 4 days, this was on the Kennet and Avon canal with a friend and family for his birthday treat. Those 4 days were the most relaxing time I have ever spent on the water, I love your videos they put me back on the water chilling out, dare I say its almost therapeutic.

    The next improvement, most of you canal folk will need to change over is battery powered systems. This being only a couple of years away. This Video has shown just how power full travelling on our canal can be. Thanks, David and cheers

    • @CruisingTheCut
      @CruisingTheCut  7 лет назад

      A couple of years is very optimistic for full battery operation even using hybrids with diesel generators (which is really not much better than the diesel just driving the prop directly). Solar won't come on enough in that time to provide all the required power so unless someone invents a Mr Fusion type of device, I think we'll be using diesel for a good while yet.

    Remarkable. I track your journey on the canal maps as I watch the Vlogs, there is a real sense of accompanying you on your travels. The sheer scale of the UK's canal network becomes increasingly apparent when you consider what a small proportion of the possible routes you have travelled so far.

    This stuff is so good, I love to chill to stuff like this. Would you consider posting a twenty five minute uncut video of a good boating stretch? It doesn't even have to be a good boating stretch, it could just be any boating stretch, but a long one would be ideal. Just throwing that out there. If I had my way, I would love to see a full hour and fifteen minute long boating stretch.

    Hello David. Your Vlogs are all good, but these cruising scenes are what this Aussie likes the best. Beautiful countryside and scenery, and the quaint Olde villages and towns too.
    Please do more of them. That and óthers' boats, especially ones with those lovely old Gardner, Kelvin, Bolinder diesels and the quasi-religious rites involved in starting them.

    My wife and I enjoy your blog much, and are binge watching as we debate or next retirement adventure. We watch on our TV via firestick and can not see when the video was released, it would be great to know when they are recorded without having to look them up on my computer. Also we are Americans currently living in Ecuador as we travel in retirement, we are not very familiar with England, so maybe a map with where you are and where you are going, and how you choose your destination in each episode. Thank you for your efforts, with or without the above we will continue to enjoy your channel.

    Seriously gorgeous scenery! I honestly think you need to consider that idea about the coffee table photo book of bridges! One question...what is the purpose of the really narrow bit at about 1:25....did it used to be a lock? Or just to keep you on your toes while navigating? Enjoyed it!

    • @CruisingTheCut
      @CruisingTheCut  7 лет назад

      Not long enough to be a lock so probably once a swing bridge or lift bridge was there, I suspect.

    So lovely. Thanks for the bonus footage. Boat passing you at 5:55 seemed to be throwing a bit more of a wake than most I remember. Was he indeed traveling faster than normal in a passing situation or was that merely my imagination?

      I don't remember but different boat designs can cause greater or lesser wakes even at a given speed.

    I always get curious about these little features like the narrowing of the canal at 0:51. Most likely the site of a bridge for a farmer, so I wonder why it went out of use !
