I felt I held my own. I would have liked to placed above halfway in my section but I don't think the draw was good enough. I managed to weigh in more than either side of me which tells me I wasn't too far off with the tactics. A little more practice /knowledge and maybe 2kg was possible from that peg on the day.
Nice video, thanks. It was me who was on peg 25 with 13kilo 8220 grams. All caught on single caster at 12m. Skimmers, hybrids and big Roach. It was a lovely days fishing.
Happy for you mate, certainly a day you'll remember . A lovely day it was too, we were so lucky with the weather considering what it was like the day before. Sorry I didn't catch you on camera. 🤷♂️
Once fish a national on trent 1990s I still haven't recovered it was that far I didn't get to my section till 1 hrs after the all in 😢no trolley in them days,
Crikey, that's a walk and a half. I used to put my box on an old rucksack frame, holdall over the top and an old school net bag bag in the 90s. We had some 2.5 mile walks when we had 300 peggers on the Ouse, of course we all have more gear nowadays, rollers etc so the barrow is a must.
Hi Phil, thanks mate. I think the team can improve if we manage to get a few practice sessions on next year's venue wherever it may be and come up with an actual plan. I had a fully charged battery and I was the envy of many a shattered angler, it sure makes a difference on these long walks.
you did well from a mediocre peg.... i fished 2 big 400 peg matches in the 80's... it was exacrly the same then.. the end pegs had 30+lb ... the other 398 of us scratched out barely 1lb of silvers.... enjoyable vid though..... i can re-live the drama of it all again from my archair.... thanks
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. It was a lovely day despite the quality of the fishing. The camaraderie amongst anglers and the atmosphere was fantastic, I met some great people and really enjoyed it, hopefully we enter again next year and can go for a top 10 promotion position.🤞
Them damn boats. But well done John. When you got that skimmer thought you might snare some bigger bream, then a boat such a shame.Must say you worked your peg very well.Good viewing.😃😁😁😀
Well done John, personally id have fed heavier as you had a lot of water to draw fish from. As stated not a great area but heavier feeding will pull thise skimmers in. Great effort though and well done to the team, keep em coming i look forward to your matches
Thanks David. I guess the feeding is a difficult one, you can always put more in but can't take it out. Not knowing the venue, I aired on the side of caution and fed according to the bites I was getting. I didn''t want the boats to spread feed all over, in hindsight maybe I should have given the line at the bottom of the far slope a good helping.
You did ok from where you were I’ve fished up there for years not a good area and the team did ok as well, none of the locals did very well from who I have talked to so we’ll done again
Watched this last night and couldn't think of anything to say about that peg ' could be a bit derogatory about it yes I suppose so ' could you say anything positive about it maybe , think if I'd drawn that I'd have walked away scratching my head to be honest ' once fished a peg like that on the ure a few years ago I don't know if it's you expect too much of them at the time or what the buggers leave you with more questions than answers . 🙈🤣🤣
It was a bit non descript for certain. I didn't really expect any more than I got out of it to be fair, Little Onn kind of prepped me for that. Walking away isn't an option in a team event, as much as I would have loved to have walked straight past it. There's a lot more crap pegs than good ones unfortunately. 🤷♀️
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel when you got the skimmer I thought oh it's maybe holding something of worth after all ' because all that was coming out were bits but it never built to anything " boats on that line ? Or plain and simple they ain't there , don't think for a minute you could have done anymore . Onwards and upwards buddy . 👍
Hard to say, I think maybe a few more small skimmers would have been possible if the two boats that went through didn't wash my bait out, you have no idea where it's gone and if it's taken the fish with it. Maybe I should have targeted that line earlier but the boats were coming through before we even started. The bits inside add up and they're a good settler in a match like that. The 2 lads who broke 10kg were on 25 & 26 so it would seem the better fish shoal up in certain areas and mine wasn't one of them.
Well done tricast 👍
Really enjoyable watch John. Not to bad a result from an unfeatured peg.
Midway team wise not bad for 1st attempt.
Thanks Mike, we were pretty happy with the result, hopefully make the top 10 next year if we put a bit more effort in and practice.
Not bad for only the second visit there and the added pressure of fishing for the team.

@@HOOKEDFishingChannel The two either side are the first always the first target so, yes you weren't too far of with the tactics.

Awesome, well done mate, not often you pull a peg that can produce like that but you still have to get them out, top marks and congrats on the win👏
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel Thank you and I agree, it's a once in a lifetime draw, well for me anyway lol. Regards

@@HOOKEDFishingChannel No worries, I'm just glad to still be alive after that walk lol.
Another great video pal, and a fantastic team effort from weak draws considering it was a first attempt. See you Sunday. mate.
Cheers AD, looking forward to it👍

Good effort John. Not a bad team result for first national on an unfamiliar water. Hope you didn't forget your battery with such a long walk.🎣

Great vid john , nice to get a few fish , i suppose the canal traffic is the same for everyone .
It sure is, it's just annoying when a boat destroys a line you've just started catching on. Thanks for watching 🤗

Thanks Clive, I gave it a good shot and managed to beat either side of me, there just wasn't the volume or stamp of fish in front of me.
brilliant video John , thought you fished it well from a difficult peg/section. So good to see you back keep em coming mate
, thanks .

Were you next to a paint balling park ?
I think it was the front line😉. In all honesty I'm not sure, there were people up in a cherry picker shooting so maybe.
Still no barbel fishing on swale. You gone soft?!
Should tell people that you hat to walk two fields.. Wakefield, and chesterfield 😂😂
LOL 🤣🤣
A good result from a poor area, well done.
Thanks Brian, looking at the results it seems the bulk of the fish were on 25 & 26 with the ends fishing reasonably well too.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel It’s great to see videos on natural waters rather than all these carp bagging films.
There's still plenty of people who only fish naturals. I rarely fish commercials, usually just with the club and the occasional pleasure session.
